Read the cup and say it with me "Tatte like latte." That's just in case you don't know how to pronounce this cute coffee/bakery/food spot. However it's said, an easy statement would be that it's quite tasty and for sure a good location to check out, which is what I did with my mother last week. Walking up and into Tatte might give you some retro NYC vibes, but the place actually originated outside of the Empire State. You'd never know because the white-tiled look definitely feels like something classy and Manhattan-originated. Luckily, the pricing isn't necessarily city level as Tatte has a large menu of baked goods, actual meal options, and coffee choices all at around what you'd probably expect to pay for a place like this. The setup when first ordering is a little chaotic if there are a lot of people figuring out what to get between menu viewing and the glass case of premade baked items, but once you do get your order going you can find a table and sit with your number while you wait for your goods. For me, I got my coffee right away as it was a cold brew that was able to be made there. Twas a special at the time, an orange blossom vanilla cold foam cold brew. Was it unique? For sure. Did it entirely land? Not sure. I did try a sip of my mother's caramel latte and that seemed pretty legit. What was also legit was the grub. We each ordered a halloumi sunny-side breakfast sandwich which was delicious (though a tad more halloumi would've been perfection). Close to perfection as well was the pistachio croissant we shared. I definitely see the level of quality coming through in a spot like this. Overall, Tatte has some solid aspects working for it with plenty to love. Coffee seemed quality, food was fantastic, and the setup was great, though the blasting 80s music, despite totally in my wheelhouse, might have thrown the vibes off a tad. Either way, Tatte has what you're looking for, though personally, Garden City is a little far for me to get to these days. If Tatte does ever expand out east, you know I'll be pronouncing that name very often. read more

I saw this on yelp as I was down the block at the dentist and decided to venture over afterwards. I saw this delicious mint lemonade and was like I swear I've seen this somewhere. Walking inside this beautiful cafe with high ceilings and subway tiles, the new owners were smart in laying out the space. Everything now feels elegant and has a oooh la la vibe. Theres nothing to order, I guess to fully experience Tatte Bakery, come when they first open. Then you can try the: Corn & Spinach Shakshuka Lamb Hash Cheese Boureka or Kouign-Amann The menu sounds fantastic and last night I would have loved to try their Honey Apple Cake Slice with a small latte. It's not in the cards so I ordered for my wife the Iced White Peach & Mint Cooler and for my sister in law & I the Hot Chocolate. The hot chocolate was made with 62% Valrhona dark chocolate and whisked together with steamed milk. I watched the barista slowly mix the milk into the cup. The end result? A H/C that's not too sweet but a silky smooth and velvety drink. Visited here with my family on a Saturday and my gosh what an overwhelming line! Thankfully it moved super quick, and within 20 minutes we had ordered and gotten our food! While the layout of the cafe is super wonky, it works better in DC/Boston. We ordered a few items including some baked goods (pistachio and plain croissants, baguette), mezze breakfast platter, BLT, and avocado toast. Everything was absolutely delicious and fresh! Tatte Bakery & Cafe is a nice addition to the Garden City village area on Franklin Avenue. The crowds at the moment is most likely due to them recently opening and everyone checking them out. Considering we still went on a Saturday at peak lunch time the wait time on line was about 15 minutes where we started by the back area. Then service for our drinks and sandwiches was maybe another 7-10 minutes while they were super busy. A very modern and chill vibe with outdoor, indoor and bar seating. Bar seating areas behind the register/ bakery-dessert display and behind the barista coffee bar both have bag hooks to hang your bags. Indoor there are tables on the exterior walls wrapping to the back and outdoor seating on the side of the restaurant. For pickup orders there is a section in the back by the rear to grab to pick them up. They have an extensive menu of breakfast sandwiches, brunch items like egg plates and French toasts, lunch sandwiches, plates and salads. Have a sweet tooth? Then you can grab some pastries or sweet treats as well. I grabbed the pistachio croissant and the mixed berry fruit box. They were both pretty good the croissant had nice flakey layers but I wished the filling was either more of a paste or cream to give better contrast of texture. The mixed berry fruit box had a light airy cream inside a buttery shell and topped with a strawberry, blueberries and blackberries. For drink I got the seasonal tahini pumpkin oatmilk latte. It was very good, but I think the tahini and oatmilk flavors over took the pumpkin used. Otherwise still great. As for lunch I ordered the roasted cauliflower sandwich was amazing. It had great kick of heat from the spiced labneh and I liked the nuttiness of the pine nuts with the cauliflower. the pita bread was very fluffy. I would get it again for sure. My husband got the Turkey BLAT and the mint lemonade which he said was very delicious as well. Seating during busy hours like lunchtime and weekends is all timing. We ended up finding seats behind the coffee bar after 5 minutes waiting for a spot to open. Dining in they will bring the drinks and food to you by looking for your tag number given to you from the register when you order and pay. Service was very good by the staff. Parking is available on the street or in the lot in the back of the businesses. read more

I first encountered Tatte in DC and was pleasantly surprised that they opened in Garden City! I've been here twice so far and really enjoyed it. They are really crowded but they have a lot of indoor and outdoor seating in addition to bar seating. I didn't enjoy the pumpkin latte, but really enjoyed the cappuccino. I also tried the cherry almond scone, spinach leech quiche, and flatbread. The food was really good! The seasonal salmon was also sold out unfortunately but I've heard their salads are also really good. Though almost always busy, I also like the ambiance here. It feels like you are in a bustling city and it's nicely freshly renovated. Good addition to the neighborhood! French Workshop has some serious competition here. read more

We tried tatte for the first time and their foods were amazing! We went around 11am and there was a huge line inside, but it moved pretty quickly. We ordered their traditional Shakushuka, two pastries and their new tahini pumpkin oat milk latte. We had hard time finding seats, but after we got our seat, the foods came pretty quickly. It was my first time trying Shakushuka and it was delicious. The amount is large so I shared it with my friend and it was just enough. It comes with three breads and the bread was nicely baked as well :) We also tried their chocolate rose pastry and brought back their morning bun home. They were both delicious! My partner had the caramel latte. We both wanted food and decided on the smoked salmon, egg, and avocado sandwich. We were given a punch card which I'll definitely be using. After grabbing a seat, our drinks arrived relatively quick. My latte was as good as I remembered and my partner thorough enjoyed their latte. Clean subway tile decor, High ceiling, bar style seating, as well as tables to self sit. There's a line to order. They give you a number for your kitchen order if you are going to sit a while. (Seats were not readily available.) the place was pretty full at 10:30. But service was quick. (But I think I need to get back in line to order that cookie that has been staring at me.) We ordered the Kouign-Amann, Chocolate croissant, 2 mixed berry fruit boxes, 16oz latte, a flat white and a ham and cheese quiche &salad. Total came to 48.70 before tax. Most of it was to-go. We did sit for the quiche and coffee. I clearly forgot to take a picture of the food before we devoured it. Slightly salty but still flavorful and good. I managed to take a picture of the last bite. The flat white is a flat white. The latte was lighter than I like my lattes. Overall coffee is not a strong as we like our coffees. May come again but it doesn't standout as unique or special. The biggest issue with this location is that the system for getting a table SUCKS. Pretty much once you order, it is a free-for-all and since there are multiple entrances to get into the cafe, it is very annoying to get a table/seating. I got the Braised Short Rib & Eggplant Couscous Bowl which was overall pretty good although the short rib was a bit dry and overcooked. The rest of the bowl was super tasty and I loved the lentils, couscous, eggplant, kale, and sundried tomatoes. My friend got some baked goods and coffee which she enjoyed as well. Overall, I would come back if I was in the area, but the seating situation is so terrible that I wouldn't go out of my way to return. read more

I recently went with a friend for a late brunch. This place was hopping, but we managed to snag seats at the coffee bar. The decor is modern with a bright, open, and airy ambiance. I appreciated the greenery strategically placed throughout. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the new manager, Steven, was very friendly and knowledgeable. Our food was delicious- we shared the short rib and egg, lox, and avocado sandwiches. For dessert we got the chocolate rose and the pistachio cranberry short bread cookies. My honey halva latte was divine. I can't wait to go back. My one and only complaint is the amount of gnats that kept pestering us... I hope they address this issue and take care of it ASAP. A bright, clean, beautiful new eatery in Garden City that I was lucky enough to try for their friends & family event before they opened to the public. Because of the event, the wait was extremely short and the store wasn't overly crowded. Now that the store is open to the public, there is always a very long line, one that has prevented me from going back in but today I went for it. Don't be fooled by the long line like I was, it does move fairly quickly. If you're ordering bakery items, they're at the counter you order at, so there's almost no wait for that. As far as drinks, be patient and prepared to wait what felt like longer than the wait on line to order. The iced mocha is delicious and worth the wait, as it's made with cocoa powder and itty bitty pieces of chocolate. The chocolate rose and monkey bread pasties are tasty treats!
