Ugh, this place was unfortunately such a disappointment. First off, the staff was so incredibly rude. My sister went to go pick up a babka from Noir Bakery that I had preordered and was treated with a lot of disrespect from a woman who was wearing a wig. My sister was accused of not paying for the babka and she had to contact me to show them proof (which again I'm not sure if this is necessary as I've never experienced it before- who else would know my name and what I ordered)? She didn't even get an apology afterwards, disgusting! On top of that, the cinnamon babka was literally soggy and gross. I couldn't even finish my piece and it was also overpriced as well. Definitely venture somewhere else for classic Jewish pastries because Noir does not do it justice. read more

Great bakery with amazing sandwiches and pastries. Now they opened a meat restaurant next door!! I took my daughter to eat at Noir last night. Was really good! The plum salad with the citrus beet dressing was amazing. Like so fresh and we couldn't get enough of that dressing!!! And I loved the shaved fennel salad too...my daughter doesn't like fennel so, more for me!!! We shared the schnitzel because I heard it was the best and it was so yummy! perfectly crunchy and tasty and moist. The servers were friendly and attentive. It seems family-run, and they specialize in pastries, doughnuts, and cakes. I went just for a coffee with a friend, and they were kind enough to give us two complimentary chocolate croissants along with a free refill for me. They've got the typical Great Neck/Persian Jewish customer service, which can be described as hospitable and giving away free things every now and then to endure customer loyalty. It's sweet and thoughtful. They have a few tables and it's a quiet enough place if you want to work on your laptop or read. There's also a bathroom. LOVE everything that Noir is. First of all, I dropped by the restaurant for my reservation. I needed change for the meter. They kindly directed me to the Noir cafe next door, for my change. The lady in the front, (I presume is the owner) handed me a dollar in quarters and didn't accept my cash in return. This is what you call customer service. They are truly amazing people. When we sat down to eat for lunch prefix, everything was delicious. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back. read more

Was here for business staying at the hotel across the street and wanted to come here in the morning for pastries and coffee. I think this is a great family run business but the pastries were very average using sugary fillings most of which were lacking in the pastries. The best things to eat at this location where the savory pastries most of the sweet pastries including the chocolate twists I found very underwhelming. I saw a lot of people coming in here for sandwiches in the afternoon so maybe that's the move. But for my weeks day oh I only came here once and then ended up going somewhere else 20 minutes away from better coffee and morning pastries. read more

So I've been visiting Great Neck every three months over the past year from San Francisco and have stayed across the street at the Inn. I've watched people go in and out, park illegally to run in:), and have seen a line go out the door from open to close. I don't know why it took me so long to go in, but I am so glad I did! I went to this new bakery yesterday after seeing such good reviews. I must say that their pastries were excellent. Fresh, crunchy pastries with high-quality chocolate and cream filling (I don't really know what they're called). We also tried their pistachio baklava, which tastes good and not as sweet as my previously favorite one. While my friend and I were enjoying our conversation, I had accidentally spilled my tea all over the table and the pastries that we had bought. Giving this bakery one star is being too generous! I had the worst experience there and it was my first time there. I ordered donuts for the holiday. My friend picked them up and at the holiday table when I served them I discovered that I got the wrong donuts. I simply did not receive what I ordered. I believe they ran out of chocolate and jelly and they put some other donuts. I called the next day and the lady owner was beyond rude and disrespectful practically letting me know that they don't care and they won't refund me. I didn't even get an acknowledgment or an apology, nor any ownership for selling me the wrong order. After calling multiple times and them hanging up the phone, finally the second owner (probably the husband) said that he would refund my money- 16 dollars. Which is the right thing to do! I sent my friend to get the money and when she got there and asked for the money on my behalf the lady yelled at her saying that they don't do refunds. Even though their products are pretty good, THE WAY THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS IS HORRIBLE, RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL and I would strongly recommend to support other local businesses that are humble, and great with their customers than giving any money to this one! read more

I lived in Great Neck for over 30 years and I will tell you I have never experienced such rude people. No one even acknowledged me for almost 10 minutes the owner or the employees and it was not busy. There was one person ahead of me and NO ONE was wearing a mask as I was and they looked at me as I was an alien. I ordered 6 Sufganiyot (donuts) for Hanukkah 2 chocolate, 2 Jelly and 2 vanilla . That is NOT what I got. I got 1 jelly, 2 custard and 2 hazelnut. The only one (jelly) is all my family could eat because they are allergic to custard and hazelnut. This could have been disastrous because of the allergic reaction. I even left a tip of 25% in the tip jar and not even a thank-you. I didn't see anyone else leave a tip but I did even though they were extremely rude which I in retrospect I should not have done but it was the holiday's. read more

This is the best bakery in town! A true family run business with owners who are so prideful and passionate about all of their baked goods. I went in on the morning of my first day of work at my new job around 730am - all of the pastries were warm, and babkas were fresh out of the oven. I told them I wanted to pick out their most popular items to bring to my new office and one of the owners showed me around and helped prepare an beautiful box of pastries. He told me about the history of the store and how all of the ingredients come in from Israel and why they are so unique and special. He gave me a chocolate croissant to try on the spot, and it truly lived up to everything he was saying about what makes them stand out, amongst the rest - it was the best croissant I had ever had. He also reassured me that the bakery was kosher and put a seal certifying it on the box, so that when I brought it into my office, those who were kosher would know It was okay to eat! Awesome and delicious kosher bakery. This is a cafe which values quality over quantity. While they may not offer a substantial menu, everything they make and have is fresh and delicious. Everything from their pastries, to their sandwiches, to their shakshuka, and even coffee. My personal favorites are the coffee and cappuccino, their shakshuka, and tuna sandwich, as for their baked goods I can't choose a favorite. At first I walked in and I was shocked to see some kid with a unibrow working the counter. But he was very nice and cool, and helped me choose my pastries a lot. I recommend the iced coffee.
