If you're looking to be in and out, don't come here, but, if you're willing to wait for good food, it's a must! Also a little tip, the earlier you come in, the shorter the wait! Love the food but service was absolute trash this time. Came about half an hour before closing and was treated like they wanted to sweep us out of the place as soon as possible. Charged an extra 2.50 for asking for extra hollandaise and cheese sauce each. Have been here multiple times and was never charged extra for sauce. Awful service, can hear everything they say in the back about how much they wanna leave and how tables are finally leaving. Make certain to peruse the menu well on the off chance that you are veggie lover, a few things are just vegan in that segment of the menu (don't incidentally arrange dairy cheddar on your vegetarian dish). The fries are fresh and yummy! The staff is occupied, however amicable. We like the tofu breakfast sandwich a ton, with lettuce, tomato and onion included. The bread is thick and delicious. Just went her for brunch with my mom and great aunt. And holy crap this shit is amazing. My mom and I both got the Chesapeake Beni which was unbelievable. I got mine with peppers and onions and my mom got it with. Either way it was amazing. My great aunt got a seafood Florentine omelette and that was literally the size of her! Our waitress(Emily D) was so kind and patient to my great aunt and helped her as much as she could! She also recommended the Irish bacon that literally changed my life. Highly recommend!!!! Me and my sister used to go here every Friday when I was living in Albany and so it's always a great time. There eggs Benedict with avocado is absolutely amazing and by far my favorite thing to get here. Although I've yet to have anything I haven't enjoyed here. Also they do home made loafs of bread for a great deal I got the honey walnut and I enjoyed every slice of it and my sister got the cinnamon swirl and made French toast with it and that amazing as well. read more

Wow. Just wow. I'm in love. The food was already amazing. And now with the diy-vibe decorations and friendly colors, it's become perfect! When you walk into the cafe, you kind of forget that you're still in Albany and feel as if you have transported to NYC or LA. They have done an amazing job with the looks of this place. We tried our go to-brunch meals, the super breakfast with an addition of raspberry oatmeal chocolate chip pancakes (best pancakes on the planet) and the caprese omelette and mygod.... it even tasted better than it used to. The waitress was really nice and friendly. Parking conditions are better, since there is an actual parking lot now. I love this place! Thanks to the "nowait" app, we were able to get into this hot spot just by walking into the Cafe. Otherwise, you get to stand outside until a table is ready. We have tried to get into Cafe Madison on Madison Ave many times but parking is a problem. Thanks to the new location, parking is no longer an issue. I ordered one of the specials, the Unicorn Bene, a jalapeno cornbread waffle topped with chorizo sausage laced with a lime sauce with two perfectly cooked poached eggs. It is accompanied by home fries which had a nice brown crisp exterior. SO had an omelet filled with predominately spinach, (salad) shrimp and crab (yes, real crab). Tried a taste of same and found it to be quite nice. (Maybe next time.) The server I am happy to say is an asset to this eatery. She was very attentive refilling coffee/tea and making sure everything was as expected. I expect there will be a next time since this is very similar to our near by diner. Reasonable prices, reasonably good food but use yelp or no wait to get a table faster. Condiments are right on the table. read more

We awaited this food emporium with high expectations since the departure of the Other Company where locals gathered for a reliable, while unimaginative, but tasty and affordable breakfast and brunch. The two stars in this review are attributable to the expert use of found objects and recycled materials incorporated to freshen and update an otherwise humdrum site and to the friendly, albeit highly inked wait staff (an apparent inevitability these days). The absence of the remaining three stars are attributable to "what were you thinking?" We went for Sunday brunch, a mere four minute drive (excellent) and parking was abundant (even better). We were seated next to a garage door window (good design concept) which was open. Given the glaring sun, the absence of shades required relocation. The order of crusted French toast (dry), sans Nutella, a side of sausage patty, tea and coffee, respectively and a glass of juice arrived within reasonable time. We assumed an oversight when no syrup was served. We requested some from our server who advised us that syrup would be extra but she assured us it was a minor amount. Hum? Extra? The "minimal amount" for two shot glasses of syrup was an additional $5 on the final tally of our $56 bill for two of us, before tip! This is definitely not a place where you can have breakfast or brunch on a daily or weekly basis. Definitely not affordable to the hospital staff across the street, nor nearby residents. What is next? A charge for squeezing the juice out of the oranges? WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? read more

I cannot recommend this place enough, I rave about it to everyone I can. They have the best cocktail menu and the friendliest bartenders. Horrible system they have going. 3x now we've tried to go to this cafe. Each time we put our name on their "wait list" 15 minutes prior to arriving because it only gives you 20 minutes to check in from the time you place your name on. This particular time, we get there, check in, hostess told us 5 more minutes only 2 tables ahead of you. Ok awesome. We might actually get food this time. NOPE, We waited 30 minutes, watched several tables walk in the door and sit down right away before us and then were told 4-6 tables still ahead of us....how?!?!? It's a good thing this is located 5 hours from my home otherwise they'd have ALL my money . Well worth the 45 min wait when we got there on a Sunday. I started with the bacon Bloody Mary and it was SO GOOD! With bits of fresh crispy bacon in it and absolut pepper it was perfect! The portions are enormous so be sure to come very hungry, like don't even bother eating dinner the night before it's that good. I ordered the special they had in honor or Ms. Aretha Franklin of poached eggs, ham, biscuits and cheese gravy. I was also intrigued by the homemade dill onion toast so I ordered a side of that. Everything that came out of the kitchen and to other tables had me drooling. Mine did not disappoint. The biscuits were clearly homemade, the poached eggs were instagram worthy when broken into. Used Grubhub to place an order for 2 items. These incompetent hacks decided to only make and send one out of two items. God forbid you go to eat in this place, I can't guarantee that more than one person will get to eat! So they had the audacity to charge me for both items and I actually had to call and complain to not have to pay for the item they didn't bother making. Secondly, they refused to just deliver the second item or issue a full refund, so my friend got to eat, and I didn't. Don't ever go here. read more

Lets talk about the Cafe Madison. The wait is outrageous...90 minutes for a table??? Well there's a good reason for it. The breakfast here is amazing. The good thing is they have an app where you sign in and reserve a table so it's not exactly 90 minutes :-). The corn beef hash and strawberry pancakes are awesome! I was very disappointed. I frequent the location onMadison Ave in Albany and thought I'd bring my granddaughter for breakfast to the new location for her birthday. After a 30+ minute wait Our food was served cold. Toast was cold, eggs over easy were hard, potatoes were dry and rubbery. The best part of my meal was the coffee. My granddaughters much anticipated French toast was served without syrup and we waited several minutes for the waitress to come back so we could ask for it. I hope that some attention is given to improve the weekend crowds. read more

Last time at Cafe Madison. Been there 4 times now to the new location. Massive disappointment every time?! How do you screw up breakfast? Ordered omelet, was given something completely different than ordered, didn't make a big deal of it, said I didn't want another one and would eat it. They insisted on making me one to go, omelette to go?! I said fine. The omelette they gave me was the other persons omelette I was with haha. Manager came over at end and said she would comp the omelette and they were sorry. I didn't ask for money off but said ok. She took $1.76 off the bill I didn't even bother telling them what idiots they were. Won't be back, most over rated breakfast spot in the area. Waste your money some where else. Side note was with my girlfriend, her potato's were shriveled and disgusting, after everything I said something. She told me there was a problem with the potato's and they were from yesterday and they were making new breakfast potato's right now. It was 11:30am making new hashbrowns. Good work! #fail read more

I struggle to understand the attraction of this place. Had to wait 25 minutes for a table ... for breakfast. Menu was largely unexciting. "Is the hash homemade?" ... "No, from a can." Madison Plate came with a soggy croissant and cheese sauce that either hadn't formed right, or deconstructed to the point it was inedible. Potatoes were very good. The 2 star rating is for the nice decor and quick seating after joining the wait list on our way here. That's where it all goes down hill. My hubby and I waited for quite some time to be acknowledged once we were seated. It was not overly busy. We watched 2 other tables which were seated after us, get served and received drinks when I finally questioned a waitress if she was our server. She replied she wasn't but would get our server. Once our server finally came over she only asked what we wanted to drink. No apologies for keeping us waiting. She seemed annoyed when I asked if we could also order. I had the 2+2, 2 eggs, 2 pancakes. My husband had the super breakfast which is basic 2 eggs,meat home fries, toast and pancakes. He asked for eggs over easy but instead received eggs well done. I asked for scrambled which were over cooked and had a strange taste. We were both not impressed with the pancakes which were also cooked too much needing a steak knife to cut them. Let the female manager with glasses know one of the restrooms needed attention as I had just been in there and it was gross! She proceeds to say REALLY, We scrub our bathrooms every night and proceeds to walk away rudely without thanking me for letting her know or saying thanks I will go take care of it. This cafe was literally alllll white. White Staff, white customers. So the lady finally comes to seat us and asks if we mind sitting up at the skinny bar, and we said we didn't want to sit there so she asked if we wanted to sit at a small table that was right behind the cash register the you see when you walk in. Like no windows or any thing just a random table next to a wall. This was odd, because there was an open area with available seating at the place was not crowded. So we asked to sit in the dining area where everyone else was seated and she said okay, and sits us in the back at a slanted table behind the only black couple there. There's a whole open space of tables and 4 of them are free and ready to be seated in and that's where the white people are, yet she sat us all the way in the back behind the black couple. Of course I have room to believe that is weird. I would love to give more stars, however for the waitress who took our orders because she was very pleasant and made sure my friend and I were good during our entire visit. read more

I went to Cafe Madison on Mother's Day about 1 PM. The place was a mob scene because you can't make a reservation. You have to call them and I guess get put on a list and they tell you to show up at an appointed hour. Well, they ended up calling us back and telling us to come a half hour earlier, and we were 2 minutes late because we were just leaving the house when they called, they gave our table away. We were literally in the parking lot and the table was gone. They gave us another one after we explained the situation. I ordered the Madison Plate. They give you a lot of food but the cheese sauce that they cover all your food with this in particular meal was terrible. I had to scrape it off my food to be able to eat it. I don't think I'll go back. I didn't care for the atmosphere, the place was way too pricey, and I just didn't enjoy the meal. read more

After being seated, I waited twenty minutes for a server to come take my order. If it was busy, I would have been understanding. However, there were only 3 or 4 other tables and staff everywhere. The table that was seated just moments before I was received their food before I had even ordered. Once I finally placed my order, the food came quickly. The American fries that came with my order seemed like they had been sitting for quite some time. They were hard and chewy. The rest of my order was okay-ish, a bit bland, but not terrible. The server dropped my check off at the table without saying a word, and the same when she came to pick it up. I had high hopes after reading some other reviews.
