I used to walk to this pizzeria when I lived on Quail st roughly three years ago because it was simply the best pizza in town. I've since moved about three miles away and haven't had the opportunity to eat there since then with all the more local options. I was wanting a nice pie last night so I decided to ring up my long-lost favorite pizza joint: DiCarlito's. After one hour of waiting for just a simple large cheese pizza I decided to call up and ask where my pizza was. They said they were backed up and that it would take about an extra 20 minutes and that they would throw in a small order of boneless wings for the extended wait. Cool! I decided to wait a little longer because hopefully it would be the amazing pizza I remembered eating years ago. WRONG! Delivery took over 1 hour and 30 minutes. When the pizza arrived it was doughy and under-cooked. They said they would throw in a free order of boneless wings right? Guess what... THEY COMPLETELY FORGOT!! I attempted to call them to let them know I did not want to eat the pizza but they hung up on me as soon as I expressed my concern for a refund. I don't know if this pizza joint had been bought out since I'd been there a few years back, but I can assure you one thing... I will NEVER be ordering from here again. Overall? Placed an order on GrubHub at 12:30 am. There was no update on the app after it said the delivery ETA was 1:30-1:40 AM. Called at 1:40 to ask about the order and they said it would be on its way in a few minutes. Called again at 2:30 because we still hadn't heard anything and they said it was on the way. DiCarlito's is my go to pizza spot on the weekend.They make one of the better slices in Albany, but compared to Long Island or NYC pizzerias this place falls short. I miss this place so much... When I was a student at UAlbany, I lived down a few houses down from DiCarlitos... They have the BEST Sweet and Sour Chicken slice... I am yet to find another place that offers both chinese food and pizza combined. Their mozzarella sticks are pretty bomb too. Dont bother coming on a Friday or Saturday night unless your drunk and dont mind the insane amount of drunk people getting pizza and waiting for the bus, as well. Love this place! Never gotten pizza, though I've heard good things; I always order the pasta dinner with plain tomato sauce. It's $7.50 but they give you fresh salad, a roll, and a pretty hefty container of pasta. My room mate orders the Eggplant Parmesan and loves it, her ex and my boyfriend order the wraps and pepperoni rolls and always rave about them. D'Carlito's is always quick with delivery and friendly. The only reason I even gave this restaurant a star is to show how much they don't deserve anything more. I ordered two slices one night and when it arrived, the regular slice was freezing cold , as if it was sitting out all night long. The second slice was a buffalo chicken slice that had 3 skinny slithers of chicken tossed lazily across it with a few squirts of buffalo sauce. It was a disgrace. I called back , calmly requesting for them to either deliver two better slices or to give me something in exchange for it but they were so nasty on the phone and lied and said they were closing two hours early. I never had their pizza, but I lived for their Baked Ziti! It's honestly some of the tastiest food I had during my time in Albany (11'-14'). I always ordered delivery so I have no idea what dining inside is like, but the person on the phone was always incredibly nice and accommodating. Absolutely disgusting service. My boyfriend ordered a pizza from here via grubhub. We were given an hour wait time which is relatively reasonable and we were okay with that. An hour and a half goes by and nothing. Okay, we figured we would wait ten more minutes and then call the restaurant to see what's going on. About five minutes later we finally got a call from them saying that their grubhub server was down, and our pizza was on the way. My boyfriend was frustrated and asked to speak to the manager, Sonny, who confirmed our order had left the store. We waited ten minutes longer. Still nothing and we were only 2 miles away. We contact grubhub, who then called the restaurant themselves. The grubhub customer service worker said that the restaurant had not made our pizza yet. So not only were we kept waiting for over two hours, but the manager lied to us. I would never order from here again, and I will redirect friends and family from ordering here in the future. Ordered over grub hub at 12:47am and was told my food would arrive at 1:45-155 am. At 2:30 am I called the restaurant to find out my order was never printed and therefore wasn't processed. With no apology I'm told my food will be sent out right away. I wait and wait and my food doesn't arrive until 3:25 am and all my food was cold. Does this place hit the spot or what? DiCarlito's is by far the best pizza located in the Pine Hills section of Albany! This is the kind of pizza that has students in the area from Brooklyn dreaming of good pizza when they return home from college. Dominick DiCarlito, along with his son Carlito, have been running the fine establishment for 27 years with a little help from indigenous relatives from Peru. This fine family restaurant should serve as a model for other pizza establishments in the area that will remain nameless (Paesan's). The fresh ingredients imported from the Italian city of Buffalo makes the pizza from this place absolutely scrumptious. Tender love and care is put into the making of every slice by head chef Manuel DiCarlito. Manny also serves as a Buddhist monk as a side job. The fine decor of this establishment releases the aura of a love and respect to the game of European Football (soccer) that hasn't been felt since Zidane attempted to headbutt Manny DiCarlito but was subsequently crucified on Western Avenue (commonly referred to as DiCarlito's way). Personally for first timers I would recommend the chicken bacon ranch pizza because of the delectable ranch sauce made via the DiCarlito Family grundle sweat.
