The food was good, nothing particularly stood out to me. I had a grilled chicken sandwich, asked for no onions, got onions anyways on my sandwich. Asked for my side to be rice, got fruit. Which in the end that was fine, I like fruit, but not what I asked for. It also took over 15-20 mins to even get our order. Margaritas are delicious and the outdoor seating is a dream. Typically their food is delicious and I've only been disappointed once...by the cheese dip, which I think may be a regional thing? It is more like flavored cream cheese, which I literally took home and put on a bagel the next day. Waited way too long to even get water. I eventually asked a server to get us water and he became our server. The restaurant has wonderful margaritas. The original are better than the "top shelf". Was disappointed in the service, no one really seemed to care we were there. We ordered the cream cheese quesadilla but would not order it again, just tasted like a cream cheese spread. I ordered the quesadilla and it was not what I was expecting but didn't taste bad. They forgot several things off of my plate. Overall very average experience. Pretty disappointed for never being here before and for this place having such a nice patio. read more

Fantastic patio. Unfortunately, food was only fair and the service was so-so. Went with my boyfriend for brunch on a Saturday morning. Coffee was mediocre and "cream" was Coffeemate. I'm a mild coffee snob, but real half & half is a must. My French toast was tasty, but nothing special. His queso omelet was a little odd. Service was sparse and hurried. Overall, not a bad meal, but Brookeside usually does better. Would eat there again if someone else chose it, but it won't be going into rotation for us. read more

This used to be our favorite place to hangout but the drinks have gotten VERY EXPENSIVE and the potency has gone down. Unlike most places, the liquor tax is not included in the drink price. As a result, the house margarita is $11. I'm not much of a drinker, but that's really the only reason I go there - to have a margarita on the patio. My name is not Trump or Pickens so the visits with my family are becoming less frequent. That's too bad, really, because we really enjoyed the place. Raising prices and making the drinks weaker is not a good combo. I plead to the new owner to find a compromise on your need for profit and giving customers good value. read more

This is my new favorite southwest cuisine. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It's off Brookside and secluded so it was very easy to get a table for seven on a Friday during the Sooners basketball game. The vibe is super laid back. We sat in the front area, but the section of booths is very cozy and they have TVs from both angles. There is also a patio area that has a TV. I've never had this fresh of food in Tulsa. FRESH-MEX! We had the white Queso with chorizo. I had the beef burrito with ranchero sauce on top. The beef was shredded and cooked to perfection. It came with rice and either pinto or black beans. There was guac and sour cream on top. My friends got the bloody Maria's that have jalapeño infused tequila! Spicy and delicious! All of their beers are $4.50. My favorite was the Omme Gang Brewery Abbey Ale. read more

Disgusting. Canned chicken on a raw tortilla for quesadillas. My re potatos wer cookt so hard that there was nothing left but the skins. Seemd like tgey tried to cover it up by adding loads of grease. The only spice they use is salt and way way too much of it. My food was very suspect and a bit smelly, but i ate some just cuz i was hungry. 30 minutes later. I vomited everywhere. Apolling. I'm calling the health inspecter. Stay away from this place. Incredible! Great food, attentive staff, and clean! I love the white queso and guacamole - I have to be careful not to eat too much before the meal. Complimentary chips and salsa: Chips are warmed tostitos. Salsa has an overwhelming citrus flavor and needs salt. House margarita: I'm not sure who voted it "best margarita" but I got a margarita mix with tequila. Very basic and nothing special about it. Tin Pan Tuesday: I ordered the cheese tamale, beef gordita, and empanada. Everything on the Tuesday menu is one portion except for the tacos which come in threes. The tamale was bland. The gordita was nicely pan fried and stuffed with seasoned beef bits. The empanada was soft and chewy, unlike the crunch I'm used to, and filled with a vegetable filling. Last word: Try the Tin Pan Tuesday menu cause you can't beat the $2 mix and match but go elsewhere for drinks. read more

Wasn't quite sure what to expect after reading some reviews. What a pleasant surprise to find them WRONG! Guacamole is easy to screw-up, but theirs was fantastic! Too bad I went with friends or it would have been all mine. I've never seen queso like theirs...anywhere...another amazing treat. Smooth, not overpowering or pasty. I mixed-in a little of the salsa and it was so good that my tongue almost slapped the roof of my mouth. The Chicken Quesadilla was great, too. Who knew that chicken was actually supposed to have flavor instead of just protein? Our server (Blake?) was great; paid attention to us, explained some new things they are doing to enhance the flavors and plate presentations. Great stuff. Will I be back? Duh! This is a great spot to eat on Brookside. Love to sit on the patio in nicer weather. I have eaten inside but will warn you the seating in the front of the restaurant before the bar is small and the strip inside the building is odd, cramped and feels disconnected to the main dining spots. We have eaten in each of these areas and definitely prefer the patio so we just try to go here on off-peak hours when the weather is good. Also, there is very limited waiting space so if you do sit in front you will feel intruded upon. The blue corn enchiladas are very good. Breakfast is also served here and is very good. The salsa and the white queso are very good. Service is slow when busy so if you are in a hurry, you may want to skip this place. read more

Like others, I am a longtime Café Ole regular. I love the people, the atmosphere, and usually the food. I am not opposed to change as long as it is for the better, but there are some recent changes that are making me reconsider the frequency of my visits. I am pleading with mgmt. to read this.... 1. The food is good but has gotten extra salty with the new owner. I know he comes from a traditional Tex-Mex background, but he needs to understand this isn't TexMex and he doesn't need to empty the salt jar every night. After dinner I usually wake up in the middle of the night searching for a water bottle to chug. 2. The salsa is good, but it does not stand out from other restaurants. What happened to the big chunks of vegetables? Where is the cilantro that used to be in the salsa? I am drooling thinking about the old salsa. That salsa stood out from other places. 3. Now the point that is really bothering me. I don't drink much but I make an exception for Café Ole because the margaritas are so special and unique -- at least they were. The recipe has changed, they are now VERY weak, and the price has gone up considerably. When I say they are weak, I am not exaggerating. THEY ARE WEAK. I am a lightweight (like I said, I don't drink much) and two of their large $9 margaritas do little to nothing for me. With truth serum in me, I admit I go there for the drinks. However at this price, and the quality of the new product, I may need to find a new place to spend my weekends read more

Cafe Ole has long been a favorite of my husband and I. It's the perfect place to enjoy some beautiful Oklahoma weather on the patio while sipping their incredible spicy margaritas! I'm pretty confident these margs are the best I've found in town. While I do love many of the entree selections - burritos, tacos, enchiladas - and highly suggest you make your way through these items on the menu, I'm not much of a fan of their cream cheese based queso or their current specials of tin pan Tuesday. It's great to be able to save some cash and make Tuesday night a little special by switching things up for dinner but they just don't hit the spot for me. This past tin pan Tuesday I tried the pork belly sope and what's basically a fried chicken cutlet sandwich (forgot the name). It's hard to not love anything with pork belly but the jelly accompanying it took what could have been a perfect savory dish way to far to the sweet side. The sope was cooked perfect and the pork belly without the jelly was fine but the combination of the jelly with caramelized onions was too much for this little bite. The chicken cutlet was ok but since they serve quite a small portion for the special I think it would benefit being presented with a smaller bun. I took off one bun completed as the cutlet would have been lost entirely. I still believe Cafe Ole is a lovely place to go dine on Brookside (hence the four stars) I would just stick to the I tried and true menu options!! read more

A staff at the Philbrook museum recommended this place. He said, "I don't know you, but I think you would be the type to really like Cafe Ole." I guess he figured me for someone who likes uninteresting food and uninspiring service. With the temperatures over a hundred degrees, I ordered the one "cool" dish I could see, a chicken, taco salad. Listen, my grandmother's sneaker would taste better. While it looked pretty, the chicken was so shredded and unseasoned, it looked like it came out of a can. None of the other veggies tasted fresh, and the medley of bland flavors just didn't work. My margarita was a total rip off at nearly $8 for a tall glass of syrupy mix--again nothing fresh. I had ordered the salad to keep it light, but the margarita mix must have been a million calories as I waddled away feeling totally bloated. The service was prompt but lacking in any style, flash, or warmth. Maybe I'm a jerk, maybe I ordered the wrong thing, maybe I should just stop listening to recommendations from locals who are trying to guess my type. read more

Me and my friend went to dinner last night and had a horrible experience. We arrived at 8:30 for dinner not knowing they closed at 9. If they would have told us they were about to close we could have gone somewhere else where we could sit and visit. We were excited to get a chance to hang out eat, drink, and talk. The food was bland and the waiter was rude. We were rushed thru our entire meal because they were closing. Minutes after getting our food the waiter brought us our checks and to go boxes. So disappointed! This place has been my "go to" for Mexican food for years but recent visits have not measured up. I'm guessing the new management has decided the authentic New Mexican chilies are too expensive or the kitchen staff simply are unfamiliar with the uniqueness of New Mexican cuisine, either way I'll have to find a new place. I like this place and it's an old Tulsa favorite. The food has gotten expensive and the owner seems more interested in saving a penny than keeping good help around. Many of the good waiters have moved on to other restaurants. Plus the patio leaks cold air like a sieve. With the money the owner is raking in he should upgrade the patio with something more than flappy shower curtains. Make this a place Tulsans want to take their friends. read more

If you have never tried Cafe Ole, you are missing out on a Tulsa treasure. The atmosphere on the patio is like no other in town. Enjoy the breeze in the summer and the fire in the winter. My favorites are the Enchiladas de Puerco, Tortas Cubana, Steak Fajitas, and the Key Lime Pie. They have the absolute best margaritas in town. My son and I had a Sunday Brunch, with friends here on 4-12-15. The service was slow, and the waiter knew very little about the menu. Five different menu items, five different disappointments.
