Apricot lamb (it was a special at the time)
    April T.

A small, unasuming restaurant thag packs great flavor and wonderful service. I always order the lamb and finally convinced my best friend to try lamb too. He got the apricot lamb stew and has not stopped raving about it since. He isn't a big fan of fgamey meat but how the stew was made was to his liking. The lamb was so tender and practically flew off the bone. When in Rome, you do what the romans do, so we also ordered some Morrocan mint tea. Highly recommend this place. Easily missed but once tried, you'll miss it!

I was truly hoping that I would be able to give this place a solid 5-star rating but unfortunate I couldn't. I placed an order through DoorDash (Pickup) as I wanted to go and look at the restaurant. Placing the orders in that portal was easy. It gave me an estimated time for the food to be ready (about 20 minutes from 2:20pm when the order was placed.) Upon arrival at the promised time, the guy behind the kitchen window (or should I call it thr "ordering counter) immediately took notice of me so he greeted me to welcome me. Once I had given my name, he wasted no time to give me my food (Salad Maison and Combination Kebab as they had already been in a plastic bag.) "This is it. Thank you, Rika. See you next time." was said by the guys with a nice smile on his face. Even though brief, I appreciated this pleasant exchange of kind words. Service appreciated to be pretty solid here. I also noticed that the interior of the restaurant was quite quaint and cute. I couldn't help taking a few photos of the entire dining room. Now the food.... -Combination Kebab was overall quite dry especially the meats. They tasted like they had been sitting on some food warmer thing for quite sometime. The rice (bed spread underneath the meats) was also dry. -Salad Maison: Very unique salad. More than a handful of small-cut pita bread pieces were placed all over the salad where the some of the pita pieces got wet soggy so I removed them from it and placed them on the open lid to take a photo of the entire plate. If I were the restaurant worker there, I would put them in a small bag separated from the wet salad. Other than that, I found the salad unique with some distinct flavors or spices which I couldn't make of. However, I don't think I will order this again as it may not be my cup of tea. Maybe this dish is super authentic where only the real Middle Eastern or Moroccan people would understand it. Not sure to be frank. Well, I know other people rated Cafe Paprika very high which I don't disagree. There's got to be an appeal that resonated with them but for me, there are other similar restaurants that resonated with me more than this place. Hence my conclusion is, this place didn't make the list of my "favorite Mediterranean/Middle Eastern/Moroccan restaurants" unfortunately. I might give it and try in the future and that is not going to be anytime soon.

This place has literally been here forever and has solid reviews. I believe it is only one of two Moroccan restaurants in the broader Denver MSAs. I've traveled to Morocco and I would say excellent Morrocan food is very hard to come by in the states. We ordered two tajines, a harrira (chickpea) soup and two mint teas (a hallmark of morrocan culture. The food was good, but it didn't blow us away. The service was friendly though and the ambiance felt like a blast from the past. Overall I recommend - it's pretty good.

Everything was absolutely delicious! The owner of the restaurant was so kind and welcoming, and chatted for a while with my husband, who had studied abroad in Morocco. The mint tea was delicious, and we received refills without even asking. There were pretty murals and ambient lighting around the restaurant. It's on the smaller side, but it doesn't feel cramped - just comfortable and welcoming! Each plate of food was cooked perfectly and had plenty of flavor and great serving sizes. Our two friends and my husband and I ate our fill and still had plenty of leftovers to take home. There wasn't one disappointing plate out of everything we ordered. I think our overall favorite was the kefta tajin! We will definitely be back again, and we can't wait to try more dishes at Cafe Paprika.

The buffet allowed me to try everything - and it's nothing like what you're picturing. There was constantly warm, fresh pita to try the hummus, whipped feta and tabbouleh. There was constantly fresh fruit out with honey yogurt that was to die for. While there was a ton of meats and cheeses to try from, the star of the show was the falafel. You can't miss trying it, it was the best falafel I've ever had. The vibes were great for brunch, and I highly recommend going for buffet style if you want to try a bunch of things on the menu.

The restaurant has this nice open feeling to it with a full bar (you can order off the full menu if a solo or pair dining) and then plenty of tables. I recommend coming with a larger group if you can so you can try lots of things. Servers are nice and attentive. Obviously you have to try various hummus plates. The foraged mushroom and brussels sprouts were my favorite. I especially loved the jalapenos on the brussels sprouts one. The hummus itself was creamy and rich and the pita they bring is warm and fresh. The tabbouleh was fine but nothing spectacular and it says it has avocado in it but I didn't detect it. I love muhammara and theirs did not disappoint. The pickled vegetables were nice but I also love pickled anything. Absolutely make sure to get the bright green falafels. Probably my favorite of the night. Perfectly crispy exterior with a soft warm center that I'd eat over and over again. We ordered the duck but I was quite full so did not taste it. The only reason I'm giving 4/5 stars is the scallops were incredibly underwhelming and quite bland. The scallops themselves were cooked fine but no flavor and the pomegranate sauce didn't add much. There desserts were also just so-so.

On a super chilly Friday night, after I had been done with my second hustle business not too far from this restaurant, before I headed for another business I would need to take care of, I stopped here as I was famished. I simply couldn't think of any other place where I could get food that always promises quality where I wouldn't have to wait too long to get it. I was truly fearful that my uncontrollable appetite would swallow me had I gone to a different restaurant where I might end up waiting too long (LOL!!) My choice was right. And to be greeted by the same kind gentleman (who had always assisted me in the past) warmed up the core of my heart and soul. He did say to me that I should have called in to place my order ahead because he said that the kitchen was quite busy and that I might wait at least or as long as 20 minutes. I told him I was willing to wait although my stomach continued to yell at me from inside!! Well, I got lucky; it didn't take long. See...my assumption was right; this place never disappoints. This time, instead of the usual I get (the vegetarian plate), I tried something different. It's the Kafta Kabob plate. This is another great dish to consider ordering at this place as long as meat is part of your diet. The meat was unapologetically tender and well-seasoned. It was hard to fathom as to how they perfected this technique to cook it to its perfection. The accompanying salad and hummus were gracefully served in the same container. Did I say that Golden's hummus is one of the best? I think I did at least once. It is because of its impeccable creaminess. Awww...I can eat this thing almost everyday if I must. This is a tiny, more of a family-run restaurant type place. Inside is quite basic and yet it's never messy or dirty. This is a place you can comfortably sit and dine without worrying about its cleanliness; sanitation is not an issue. But most of all, you go here for the quality of food. This place easily beats a fine restaurant in an upscale neighborhood for sure.

I'm mad. Not at them... at myself…read more I lived in Denver for over five years and just now made it to El Five, and now I understand why it's such a staple. The menu was recently refreshed and it shows. The mushroom paella was loaded and perfectly cooked, the burrata was a solid start, and the Turkish pizza with halloumi was a surprise standout. The poached cod was also great, especially the sauce. The drinks were just as strong. The L5 margarita with salt foam was really good, and even the frosé, which I usually skip, worked perfectly here. The vibe is a big part of it. The downtown views are hard to beat and the patio is easily one of the better ones in the city. Inside also feels intentional and well designed. Service was excellent. Avery was our server and it was her first day, which you wouldn't have guessed. Carl and Mark also made the experience feel smooth and welcoming. For dessert, the Lisbon chocolate cake and Turkish kunefe were both great. The Basque cheesecake and lobster salad also stood out and had those memorable bites that stick with you. I tried their house marg with the salt foam and loved that, a unique experience compared to a salted rim. We sat outside and had a great view of downtown. I assume seating on the other side would give you a view of the mountains but we didn't explore. For the food, we just ordered 2 starters: eggplant fries and patatas bravas. The potatoes were dry and starchy and not crispy like I would hope and expect for the dish, would not order again. The eggplant fries on the other hand were amazing - crispy with a sweet glaze and perfectly tender on the inside. I would come back just for these fries. The seafood dishes looked and smelled amazing as we saw other tables get them and I'd come back to order other dishes just because the views, drinks, and service were so great.

Bars that are only lively Friday and Saturday nights feel different. I grabbed a high-top while waiting for a friend. You know the drill: life catch-up, light gossip, solving relationship problems over snacks. The first surprise was the menu. I was not expecting the Middle Eastern influence, but it was a welcome twist from the usual bar food lineup. Instead of the typical basket of fried regret, I ordered the "bar nuts." Twist: they are chickpeas. And honestly? They were fantastic. Crispy, warm, spiced just enough to give them some attitude. I'm not sure if they were fried or roasted or maybe kissed by a spice merchant from Marrakech; they were addictive. The kind of snack where you casually eat the entire portion and then pretend you were just "trying one more." I'm also a complete fanboy of baba ganoush. If there is garlicky eggplant involved, I'm ordering it. Vesper's version was really damn good. Light smoke, lusciously creamy, very garlicky, and perfect with warm pita. Vesper's version was very well executed. The other surprise was the service. Even with the place fairly busy, the bartender/server was friendly, attentive, and relaxed in that way that makes a place feel welcoming instead of chaotic. My friend eventually arrived and immediately snagged some chickpeas and a healthy scoop of baba ganoush. His reaction was essentially: "Oh... this is good stuff." What I liked most is the overall vibe. Vesper feels casual and comfortable. It's the kind of place where you can meet a friend, talk for hours, snack a little too much, and leave happy. If the snacks are this good, I probably need to go back and actually look at the rest of the menu next time. For a laid-back hangout place with good drinks, surprisingly great small plates, and a welcoming vibe, Vesper is doing a lot right.
