    Avocado Toast Mother of Pearl
    Ruthy G.

Went to this cafe today and I have severe mixed emotions. When I walked in, i felt so cozy and comfortable in there. The barista was so kind and she let me take my time trying to decide. I ordered a Mother of Pearl (which is their avocado toast) and a Nitro Cold Brew. I'm pretty sure she was the only one working at first because after one person would order she would leave the register to make the drink. I waited 10 minutes for an "on tap" drink, which felt super weird. After I ordered, 5 people walked in and with only one person working, I knew it was going to take a minute to get the toast. It took 35 minutes!!! Another barista eventually came to make drinks while the girl who was there originally went back to I guess make the toast. My cold brew was too sweet, shouldn't have added vanilla, and it was very watery. Also, my toast.... Ummm, there's more bad than good to say. 1. Too peppery, 2. Tomatoes tasted unwashed, 3. My egg was RAW! The baristas, however, were so kind and I could tell they liked their job. I just didn't like my food. I should have gotten a latte!!

Very smooth and relaxing vibe here in Flint. Exquisite service and attention to detail on coffee. I ordered a Rehma sandwich which includes turkey on sourdough and all the trimmings one would expect in a good Sammie for your lunch. The sandwich comes with a choice of salad or chips. This cafe is in the center of Flint. Perfectly situated to watch the CRIM 10 miler. And the rest of the year who knows, but it's one of the main drags here. Great venue. Come stop and try it!

Café Rhema is a very cute spot to go to take a break, meet a friend, enjoy a cozy coffee or a have a refreshing iced drink. They also have a relatively extensive food menu and a range of free entertainment events! I've been several times to this establishment and have always been greeted with A+ customer service. I usually go for the chai latte but one of my favorite things on the menu I tried recently was the seasonal crème brûlée latte--sweet, crisp and with that delicious signature layer on top that they heat up and burn right in front of you. I have studied here a couple times too and even though I love the lofi music they play, sometimes it's a bit too loud for my liking. They have several tables and couches but I personally like a bit more table space for when I study so I usually when I come here, it's to meet a friend or two or to just enjoy coffee and chill vibes. Everyone should visit here atleast once! As a self proclaimed bubble tea connoisseur, I will say I was surprised when I saw they offered bubble tea on the menu. I did give it a try but personally would not recommend it--BUT everything else I have enjoyed so far in terms of breakfast options and different forms of coffee.

I have been spending more time in Flint lately, and hand in hand with that has been finding more and more things around town to discover and try. Cafe Rhema popped in my general search and it looked absolutely beautiful. I was not wrong. it is such a lovely little spot in the heart of downtown offering a wide variety of coffee styles and if you're hungry breakfast options, they offer everything from muffins to sandwiches. I had a chance to try their nitro cold coffee and mango bubble tea. Both were very delicious, although not any great leap in style or method. A nice option if you want to rent out space is there a huge back room. Michigan State rented it out today and it was actually surprising that there was as much room in the building as there way. But all in all, if you want a beautiful place to work, or meet with a friend and relax for a bit, or just go somewhere in sit by yourself in beauty this is a great spot.

This was my first time returning to downtown Flint in 25+ years. Stopped here for breakfast. I had Apples and Cinnamon Waffles. The taste was very good. The staff was busy, but available. The way the café was decorated was cool with exposed brick and a relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely go back.

    espresso old fashioned

The espresso old fashioned is unbelievably good and everyone I tell says they've never heard of that anywhere else. Classy feel, stylish look. Street parking.

Cafe Rhema has quite a few reviews already, so I'll keep my list of highlights brief: -lots of comfy seating! Nice for small groups to grab drinks + a bite to eat and feel like they have adequate space. -always drink specials! I have tried quite a few of them over the years. I'd say definitely more hits than misses, and the upcoming St. Patrick's Day specials are among my favorites. -they send coupons and event info if you sign up to receive emails!

I enjoy their coffee drinks , food choices, and ambiance. Great spot for an early brunch too! Highly recommend a visit! It's an easy find with an abundance of parking directly across the street. A downtown Flint must-have coffee shop is here!!!

Unexpected fresh brewed craft coffee in downtown Flint, practically on U of M campus. Friendly service and great coffee in a beautifully renovated historic building. Business was mid-morning bustling with even with the massive downtown construction.

Buckham regularly hosts Second Friday Art Walk receptions, along with the other local galleries downtown, like GFAC. Sometimes they host spoken word or poetry readings or, on rare occasion, an interpretive dance recital. It's really a great space for showcasing local art talent and, as one of the city's non-profits, they manage to do a lot with a little- no small feat in this day and age, and particularly in this city. It's a testament to the changing times in Flint and our city's dedication to both promoting and preserving the arts downtown. Whenever I attend one of their Art Walk receptions, I always run into a number of Flint-town regulars that I know from around our colorful downtown landscape. They serve appetizers and beer and wine at their receptions, so donations are always welcome to help defray costs, but it is not something that is pushed. Great art, great scene, great people. Some of the art exhibitions here will often be a bit quirkier than those at GFAC, but it's the ingenuity and independent spirit that drives this gallery. Once, my husband and I saw a Twinkie-themed art installation project here. Now that's entertaining!

The crowd at Buckham is filled with eccentric, free-spirited, creative types. I've seen the most unusual art shows here, but most have actually been very entertaining. Lots of upcycled "dumpster" art along with more mainstream photography and paintings. It's always surprising. The art is thought-provoking and gets people talking and that's what art is supposed to do- get people discussing it and looking at things in a different light. It's always fun to see everyone crowding around talking about the fusing of art, politics and commerce during art walk with a glass of wine in hand. Admission is free. Patrons may rent the space out for private events, too.

Let me tell you, it was totally worth it! While it's no DIA, it actually is super cool. For starters, every Saturday is free admission thanks to Huntington Bank. If you don't come here on a Saturday, that's fine, admissions only like $10 which is super cool. Staff here was friendly and helpful, and we did the whole museum in about an hour and a half. They have plenty of cool artwork here and there's LOTS to see and do. What we loved about it was the different styles of art, and it wasn't just painting. Glass sculptures, a beautiful horse made out of wood, and a library! The library was cool but we didn't go in and check out any books. They also have a QR audio guide if you want additional info about the specific piece of art that you're viewing. Lots of modern art along with historic art from several hundred years ago. They also have a glass blowing section where you can watch artists make glass art forms and they have a person giving descriptions of what their doing and why. We watched for about 15 minutes and really enjoyed the experience. Worth watching and checking out. You don't get to see glass blowing all that often, so that was a lot of fun as well. There's a gift shop and a cafe here, which had a nice variety of products. We weren't hungry so we didn't eat anything especially since had lunch immediately before coming here. I would have stopped to have a coffee if I wanted, but we were not needing coffee or snacks so we passed. Art museums are always worth the trip and if you want a wonderful experience come check this place out. It's also immediately next door to the planetarium, so you can easily walk next door (as long as the weather is cooperative) and check that out as well. It's also across the street from the Sloan Museum but I think their still closed for remodeling from what I understand. Overall a really great day trip to come up and do. Easy to find and a lot of good fun for all!

Unfortunately, it's fallen on some hard times over the years and has been open for events intermittently over the last few years. There is hope, however, for this beautiful old landmark to shine once again. There are plans for reinvestment into the Capitol Theatre, although over the years, there have been numerous stalled attempts at redevelopment and renewal. It's still gorgeous and the interior, while fading a little bit each passing year, still shows what this Art Deco era theatre was like back in its heyday. The Will Ferrell fllm, "Semi-Pro," was shot on location here about a decade ago. I have fond memories of going to a few concerts here before it closed when I was in high school. It was in a state of decline then, but it was still something to be seen. Shortly before it closed, there were attempts at improvements and renovations, and the Captiol Cafe (a cute little coffee shop) was open late nights upstairs, past the winding, spiral staircase. We used to hang out up there after shows on the weekend back when I was still in high school. Sadly missed. Any longtime Flint native should have some memories of the Captiol Theatre at some point.
