Busy place! Make reservations in advance! The portions were HUGE, the smaller risotto was enough for 3 people to share- and it was delicious. We needed to pick up someone at the airport in Scranton, so while in the area decided to try Old Forge Pizza, as it is apparently known. We had a reservation and looked over the menu, which was heavily Italian. A mental note was made to come back and try baked ziti or something other than pizza. This looks like a fun place! Ambiance and decor tasteful. Staff were extra friendly and helpful. The Pizza was quite good. I understand the cheese blend may include some cheddar but could not tell by look or taste. I wanted some dinner while away for work and found this spot. When I arrived I parked in the private lot. I walked in and sat at the bar. Joey was my bartender/server, and he was great! I ordered the vodka martini, and it was very good. For my meal, I got the shrimp with crab special. It also came with chicken and rice soup, and that was delicious. The shrimp dish was ok. Yes, we try to go here at least twice a year. It's consistent. The price is good. The service is good. As long as you don't go during the main busy time on a Saturday we usually go a little bit later. The pizza is fabulous. You have to call ahead and see if they have this twice. Layered pizza. The pasta is really fresh and amazing always get the pasta. That's homemade it tells you on the menu which one's homemade, I never get drinks or dessert here, because the food really fills you up and it's a lot of food for a little amount of money. My first visit here was very nice. I only had pizza so I can't say much about the rest of the menu. The pizza was very good. Nice light crust. This wasn't our first choice for dinner tonight but due to the restaurant being closed across the street. And it turned out to be an awesome choice. We decided to eat get the chicken parm, along with a slice of old forge pizza. It might've been some of the best chick parm I've ever had. To top it off we ordered the peanut butter pie which blended flavors beautifully. Service was quick and friendly and prices more than fair for what we got. Have loved going to Rinaldi's the past several times this year. Two weeks ago the service started getting sketchy. Several errors were made by the kitchen with our entrees. The place was packed so we chalked it up to that. Last night was not great. The poor waitress was over loaded. Out of 4 entrees only 1 was acceptable. And it was not busy at 7pm on a Saturday night. It will be awhile before we give this beloved restaurant another chance. Hope someone from Rinaldi's realizes the service and food have gone downhill. read more

We ordered the chicken parm with linguine and shrimp scampi with angel hair in an olio sauce, with salads to start. The food was excellent. The chicken parmigiana was huge! It could easily feed two and we took half of it home. I loved the shrimp scampi as well and definitely plan to come back and try their other seafood dishes. The staff was friendly and very welcoming. This has to be my favorite dinner spot! I went here on a date and I have to say this: we barely got to talk over dinner b/c the waitress was hovering so badly over my date!!!!! I guess since he's a local politician he feels like he has to talk to everyone that comes up so I blame him half and the people that feel it's fine to interrupt someone's romantic dinner (which is what is was supposed to be!) The woman that seated us was kind enough to say "oh, let me get you two a nice private table so you have a great evening together" but even as our FOOD ARRIVED she lingered, discussing X, Y and Z that they grew up with and what they are doing now, etc. It was pretty ridiculous. I wish he said "OK, have a great night - we're going to eat now" but he did drop many hints and she lingered?!? wth????? That aside, the risotto is as amazing as everyone said ! I ordered chicken with basically a scampi sauce- lemony and garlic (I get confused between the one with mushrooms and the lemon one- one is piccatta and one is some other name lol - can you tell I'm Irish!!?) Anyway, the food was all great and we just had a really nice time other than the rude interruptions. My sister and brother in law lived in Old Forge at the time so when my date picked me up it was close to their townhouse and the food was just awesome! The have two young babies so they usually order take-out which is a shame bc the ambiance is super nice for a date- it would have been perfect w/o the server who thought M was her date not mine, lol. I am not dating him anymore anyway, but had to give the restaurant an awesome review. Was there recently with new date and was a much more relaxed and enjoyable evening!!! I loved the chilled Shrimp appetizer - I was skeptical of fresh fish being from Long Beach NY where it's caught fresh that day but it was really good (I didn't try swordfish or any of my favorite main dishes - I don't even know if that's on the menu to be quite honest) Give it a try if you love delicious Italian! What a great place. I heard friends talk about cafe ranaldi multiple times. I finally decided to try them. You can see the sign from main street. There is limited street parking. There is a parking lot about 300- 500 feet down the block. It's a gravel parking lot I recommend parking there. My review will be short and sweet. Old forge is a really small town. Everyone seems to know everyone here. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The bar has every type of liquor and beer you could imagine. I was told by more than one person to get the risotto. They serve 2 types or risotto here. You can add chicken, shrimp or sausage in with your risotto. The portions are huge here. Risotto is very filling! I had enough risotto left over for 4 meals. You will get a lot of food for your money here. Overall I highly recommend coming to cafe ranaldi. If you are a local I'm sure you have been here. I went there last Saturday night and ordered carbonara , what came out was not carbonara , it was a red pepper dish , it had some many red peppers the sauce was red and a pepper sauce . I explained to the waitress that this wasn't carbonara and she simply replied "that's the way they make it here" . As the waitress walked away she said she would take it off the bill. She did not, I didn't remind her I just left . If you don't know how to cook standard Italian dishes then don't present yourself as an Italian restaurant . read more

Old Forge is the self proclaimed pizza capital of the world and has a few well regarded Italian restaurants. I've never eaten pizza here, but have eaten a variety of entrees, soups, and appetizers. The rinaldi chicken is my favorite. Overall, the food is very good. The service however is mediocre. Waitstaff is pretty good, but the older lady that always seems to be the hostess when we visit is terrible. She always seems irritated, unwelcoming, and bothered to have to do her job. I actually had to laugh at some of the inappropriate way she treated the guest ahead of us on our last visit. She is not the a good "first" impression for this business. The quality of the meals brings the rating from 1 star up to 2 stars. Restaurants are much more of a service business than a product, in my opinion. When dining in Old Forge, this place is not my top choice. read more

My family was excited to dine out for the first time in 3 months this evening. As always the food was undeniably fantastic, however, NO staff were wearing masks and the server basically hovered right over me when talking and writing down our order. Rather than walking around the table she reached across the table while we were eating to get a glass for refill. I'm sorry but these little things may not seem like a big deal during pre-pandemic times but right now....on the day that the state goes green.... it's a terrible disappointment to have not seen more safeguards than a disposable menu. Giving this experience a one star rating is definitely giving it more than it deserves. The food was mediocre by best (some of it came out raw), the waitress was courteous in the beginning but inattentive. Was definitely not worth the three hour long wait. As if the experience was not bad enough, the manager Marissa, shrugged off our complaints as if we were at fault. Definitely not the café Rinaldi that we have frequented in the past. I wish zero stars was an option. We sat down for an anniversary dinner Four of us were welcomed in, as we had already made reservations. Our appetizer was delivered fast and our first round of drinks. After an hour had passed we had not received any contact with a waitress or the hostess, who seemed to be of greater seniority. We politely tried to get the attention of both our waitress's and the host many times which were blatantly ignored. When we finally got our waitress's attention and asked about our meals, salads, or drink refills. She responded with the wrong order and we corrected her. She had never put our order in from the start, but she denied that and began frantically trying to place it. When we realized we spoke to the "hostess" and she said "yeah sorry, we are training some new people. It's fine if you just leave". We were seated directly in the center of the dining room, so it wasn't as if we were hidden or secluded. I would not recommend supporting this business under any circumstance. Incredible food. Possibly the best dressing ever, whipped balsamic. The Arancini is to die for, actually I've yet to find anything not superb. Don't discount this place based on the lack of crowd or the appearance, outside or inside. Come in for the service and the food. On this visit to Scranton for work, we followed a tip to eat some of the best Italian Scranton has to offer and we were so glad we did! Our server, Deanna, was great and provided us a roadmap to the best choices on the menu. Among the five of us we shared red pizza for an appetizer - some of the best pizza ever, white risotto and red risotto, chicken parm, pasta with meat sauce and another chicken dish (with mushrooms, yuck). Everyone raved about their food, but my choice of the white risotto with sausage was hands down the favorite of the table (with servings as large as the ones we had, there was plenty to share). For dessert we had chocolate chip cannelloni and tiramisu and I heard someone say this was the best tiramisu they had ever eaten. The food was good, a very large portion. Salad was basic, cut up ice burg lettuce. Service was ok at best. Little rough around the edges was the best way to describe. Dropped our salad plates on the table. 9.00 for a glass of Merlot. I was in old forge right?? I'll stay away from that. Maybe if u filled the glass and not measured it to the 1/4 ounce. Oh.Em.Freakin'.Goodness!!! This place is Uh-MAY-ZING! I was in town on business and came here on my last night in PA. After complaining to some colleagues about how I couldn't wait to get back to Chicago to eat, Café Rinaldi was suggested. Boy am I glad we listened! The wine was good, our server Tracy was the best, the food was delicious and the portions were beyond huge! We were stuffed and our plates looked like we hadn't put a dent in them. My only regret was that since we were staying in a hotel and checking out the next morning, I couldn't take my leftovers. There was enough food left for at least 3 more servings.
