This location has really gone down hill in the last couple years always short staffed, something is always broken (doors, bathrooms, etc) and the area where they cook food is SO DIRTY. This is a childhood staple for us. We lived close to the border growing up and used to come here all the time and then we'd drive through Salt Lake City and stop. We haven't been in years but it was exactly how we remembered. The location is cute inside the door to come in is so heavy to push through. I didn't read all the terrible reviews prior to eating here, and that's probably a good thing, because I thought Rio was pretty decent. Ordered a chicken burrito "enchilada style". I'm picky about my chicken, but the grilled chicken was done perfectly. Overall, my burrito was pretty good. Most of the ingredients tasted fresh although the lettuce seemed a bit tired. In terms of value, well, the total for my burrito was about $10. Not a ripoff but not cheap either. You can get a better burrito for a better price at a real local Taqueria. but it would likely have taken longer and we didn't feel like trying to find one. Despite what you might think by reading some of the other reviews, the people working here were upbeat, friendly, and efficient. The line wasn't very long and it moved rather quickly. At first I thought I was crazy and/or blind trying to find napkins but it turns out they just hadn't put more out front. Restroom also needed some attention. In conclusion, while Rio was overall pretty good, I don't think it's worth of five stars, so four it is. read more

We are passing through Great Falls on vacation and decided to stop here. The staff was rude to my father - when my dad asked for salsa and pico, the server made a disgusted face as he slopped it on. I ordered a quesadilla, which the sign says comes with guacamole and sour cream. The server wouldn't give me the sour cream because that was a side of salad. I went and double checked the sign and doesn't says "comes with salad". It says guacamole and sour cream. The food tasted fine. The fresh made tortillas are good. The building was decorated with typical Mexican motifs. The bathrooms were messy though. Final verdict: the food isn't good enough to deal with a rude staff. Taco John and Chipotle are down to road. The time was set to be ready for 2pm and we did not receive the food until 2:32pm and we only have a 1 hour lunch. This place was excellent! You order in a line. Just like Chipotle. But so much better! Fresh ingredients. I was there on a Tuesday and took advantage of $2.49 tacos. They were excellent. The tortillas are homemade and grilled right before they serve them. I also got chips and salsa and queso. The chips and salsa were great! Yummy spicy salsa. The queso had a strange sweetness to it. How do you stay in business when your employees cannot understand basic instructions clearly written on an internet order. The only good part of the service today (12/18) was the nice lady who took care of me when I came to pick up. The worst customer service ever! No matter how nice you are to some people, they are just too disgruntled to do anything but be rude! We ordered online and selected "curbside" long story short we waited for an hour and a half, they brought us someone else's food, we returned it, waited for another 20 minutes before we got our food. We went inside multiple times to see what was taking so long and was told that they "lost our ticket" The food was okay, nothing too special, but the service was horrible. I went in tonight on Valentine's Day and was given amazing service and to top it all off when I went to pay my meal was taken care of by the gentleman at the register. The optimism: a lovely display of fresh tomatoes, lemons and limes overhanging a doughy station where employees were rolling tortillas by hand. The tortillas did not disappoint, turning out to be supple, tender, and chewy. That was the highlight of my meal, however. My advice here would be that the vegetarian burrito should contain, well, vegetables. Beans, rice and cheese does not a thoughtful offer make. Alas, this was topped with "medium" enchilada sauce that lacked both spice and flavor other than intense saltiness. The only accoutrements were a handful of iceberg, a bit of Pico and an almost laughably small scoop of guac. I could see the plan here. It was just a swing a miss for me, however. read more

I enjoyed my food and the portions were reasonable. One place where they could gain a star is if they gave you a healthy scoop of guacamole and not one from a melon baller. If you don't know what a melon baller is then you are lucky, but it is way too small for the delicious guacomole. When I was there the bathroom was clean and it is a single person at a time. Take this how you want, lines could bunch up here, but you don't have to worry about showing off your business. The bathroom was on the cleaner side compared to gas stations but not as clean as some establishments. The food is tasty, but nothing surprising. I would be hard pressed to tell this apart from Chipotle if not for the grilled onions and peppers. read more

I had a couple great tasting tacos but the pinto beans and rice had obviously been sitting there awhile and were dry, I barely touched them. This restaurant has a nice selection of hot sauces. I also had a tasty horchata drink. But I will agree with the other review that mentions the employees' gloves. My credit card was handled in greasy and also flour-covered gloves... handed back to me a bit dirty and I had to go find a napkin to clean it off before returning it to my wallet.
