I feel like in all the locations I've gone to they all seem "dirty" floors have trash, and are dirty, windows full of dirty towel marks and hand prints . Drink dispensers need a good washing. I've visited one in Idaho, Utah and several in California all with the same feel. I think they need to get a testing from in n out S I e yet to experience one with low supply stock and being dirty. I do like there portion sizes for the price and the selections. At this particular location I have only had a great experience with the employees. There's a gentleman on Fridays that runs the cash register whom is very kind! I'm bummed they took away the vinaigrette dressing. That was the reason I enjoy the salad so much. The new replacement isn't doin it. Also at this location - it is one of the top that needs a really good sanitizing & cleaning like BAD! trash are always over flowing floors are always dirty and the drink dispenser has forced me to bring my own beverage. I'm really disappointed with my experience tonight. We went around 8:00, so I understand it's toward the end of the day, but there still needs to be some pride in the workstation. It looked messy and unclean, which immediately set a bad impression. When we walked up to order, there were about five employees there, yet we stood waiting for nearly 10 minutes before anyone helped us. That shouldn't happen. The food was also disappointing. It felt like we were given leftover meat, and once again, all the ingredients were piled right in the middle instead of being spread out. I ordered nachos, and all the meat, beans, and rice were dumped in the center, leaving the outer chips completely plain. Unfortunately, this wasn't a good experience. Parking was easy. Place is large with plenty of seating. This is my 2nd time here. The prices are ridiculous. I do appreciate that you can pick and choose what you want. It is just like Chipotle and just like them you need to speak up and ask. I got a chicken bowl. I felt that it wasn't full enough. I had to ask the guy to add more things in there. The cilantro rice was OK but some of the rice was hard. My teen was hungry after eating here. This was a disappointing 2nd trip. Service was good though. This place has gone all the way downhill. I came in around 4:15 or so on a Sunday and I figured it wouldn't be very busy this time of day and I was right. There were only 2 customers ahead of me and it still took 20 minutes to get through the line. The restaurant itself is filthy. FILTHY. The floor is disgusting. There is food and trash everywhere. The tables were filthy. The employee preparing the food was wearing the same plastic gloves as he prepared different meals, handled the cash register, and scratched the back of his neck several times which is super gross and defeats the purpose of gloves. He generally was not friendly (and all customers before me and including me were exceptionally friendly toward him) ...and if you can't be friendly to customers then don't be in the service industry. They were out of hot sauce for the burrito and the only sauce that didn't have skin across the top was the green so I went with that. As I approached the register another employee walked by and he stunk to the high heavens like weed. Over at the drink station all you can smell is some kind of pungent cleaner... and neither ice dispenser had ice. I've been to several Café Rio locations and usually walk away satisfied--but this visit? A complete mess from start to finish. First, I ordered a salad... and was casually informed they had no vinaigrette dressing. I was forced to have their ranch dressing. Then came the payment debacle: I had cash, but unless I had exact change (down to the penny), I could pay with cash since I didn't have exact change I was forced to use a card. The cashier was rude about it- Like, don't you have a card? As if that weren't enough, I made the mistake of using the restroom. This place has gone downhill. Cafe Rio in Redlands used to be a favorite of mine, I used to travel here from out of town just to have their fresh food (for well over a 10 years). However, yesterday at ~6pm I was so disappointed with the quality of food I received. Gone are the days of fresh tortillas being made on the wheel! My tortillas were cold and stale, and the shredded chicken was overcooked. The worst part was, when I got home and opened up the bag, I discovered the employee hadn't even secured the lid on my food!! It leaked all over the place in my car! I've noticed the change in quality for a while now, but this was really the last straw for me. Not only was the food bad, but the employees carelessness created a mess I had to clean. read more

19 years ago I went to Carl's Jr. for lunch and got chicken strips that came out RAW. Eating lunch a few minutes ago at cafe Rio was the worst lunch experience I've had since that fateful day in 2006. My $21 burrito was a sopping, soggy, mess that fell apart the first time I picked it up, leaving my hand a dripping mess of bean juice, rice grains, and sour cream. I have gone 19 times, all different days of the week, different times, during dinner hours, when it's busy, when it's not, even an hour after they have opened... and every single time I have gone, NO STEAK. If steak is in that high demand, you should order enough to meet demand, and if supply chain is the issue, then make costumers aware that it is off the menu, but it's not and I know that's not the case, because when I just went right now, they explained to me they have, they just haven't made it. Really? On a Saturday evening at 5:30pm? Wow just wow. I used to think Cafe Rio was way better than Chipotle but honestly that's no longer the case. & since I'm finagling leaving a review, I'll also note that the bathroom is ALWAYS ALWAYS filthy, the soda machine never has any syrup, & the water/ice dispenser is beyond BEYOND filthy. The whole place was dirty. The trays they served our food on were dirty, as were the tables. The restroom is always disgusting but this time was worse than ever. There was literal dirt on the toilet and stuff on the floors and walls of the stalls. Oh and NO soap or paper towels. The food prep area was noticeably not clean as well. It's never been the cleanest but we've continued to come since the food is good. But the lack of cleanliness is so bad now we will never return. So sad. read more

Well done! The tortillas are back to normal. I missed the recipe but who knows what made them go back to the homemade Mexican deliciousness I missed. We only order takeout and the salad is the way to go. You basically get a salad and a burrito in one. You gotta get their cilantro lime dressing too. So good! When ordering to take up to Big Bear I've asked for everything separate so the tortilla doesn't get soggy. Staff have been so understanding and helpful. Makes the food easy to reheat once I drive for an hour. Love it! read more

Not happy with Cafe Rio in Redlands. The food is pretty good usually. The staff is pretty good too. I've had poor staff experiences before, but tonight was great. My wife used the rest room with our two girls tonight and it looked like the women's room hadn't been cleaned in weeks. There was feces splattered against the stall wall. It was disgusting. It always feels like cafe Rio is too busy for the staff to handle. Chairs and tables seem to be everywhere. It's very disorganized. The employees were nice and they did have gloves on, with that being said this restaurant was filthy. There was so much dust on the light fixtures and decor it looked like fuzz was growing. I'm so annoyed that I even have to write this review but this is just plain ol bs bad customer service. Ordered online put salsa on side because I don't like my burritos wet, they had to remake it because the salsa was inside, cool no problem the young lady in the front by the register was a sweetheart, however the young man making the food had an attitude as soon as he knew I wanted my food redone. Wanted to give me a speech about how they can't put the cilantro psoriasis cream inside the burrito online bla bla bla but he'll do it for me this time. Awesome but then I get this overly soaked in bean juice ass burrito which I know was intentionally done. I know they can strain the juice out of them beans before they place it on the burrito,I've watched them do it countless times . So if my main complaint was I didn't want even salsa inside my burrito wtf would you give me this mess!! I'll add a picture to show exactly what I'm talking about. I'm also aware that the sweet pork has a sauce on it but these 3 slivers worth of meat would not cause this much moisture.
