Seriously, why is this place still here? I am literally dying for something else to take its place. It's never busy neither in the mornings when people are drinking COFFEE (its a coffee shop and no one wants the coffee!) and never busy at lunch. There are so many people working in this building every day that if anything was decent at this shop, it would super busy every single day. BTW, the floors in this building have coffee machines that make much better coffee than the brew here. I'm wishing we had those vending machines with lunch type items, a much more desirable choice than this shop. read more

I have been so caught up in the usual spots for coffee that I completely forgot about this place when I visited a few months ago shortly after I started posting reviews on Yelp. This is the only coffee shop in the entire town that is located on the fifth floor of a high-rise building in midtown where the GCI offices are located off of Fireweed. The corner windows of this café provide a fantastic view of midtown and the Chugach Mountains in the background. The cool thing is that the café provides a set of binoculars on a decorative lamppost if you want to check out midtown or the mountains up close. The place is very clean and the employees are nice. The seating area is full of outlets on the walls and the sides of the baseboard heaters so studying or doing work on your laptop is encouraged here. Wi-Fi is very fast and I suspect that GCI next door provides a strong connection for this coffee shop. They serve soups, sandwiches, wraps, and salads. The BLT sandwich on toasted whole wheat bread was delicious and they give you an ample amount of bacon for your sandwich. They also have an espresso bar with great coffee drinks and their drip coffee is very good here as well. As an added bonus, they serve my favorite muffins, the Green Tea muffins with white chocolate chips that I found at Moose ala Mode in downtown and Caffe D'arte on Dimond. This is one place I would encourage fellow Yelpers to check out if you want to work or hang out with great scenery in the background rather than in an office lobby or a standalone shop. read more

This place is a couple floors up in Denali Tower North. The good: It has a great view, and the baristas make very good coffee. There is also free wifi. The bad: I didn't find the employees to be especially friendly. Since they work in an office building, maybe they aren't accustomed to seeing new faces. The coffee is only good when a specific barista makes it. Often the milk is over steamed and gets that bitter flavor and they usually don't put in enough flavor. The food is over priced. I can get soda for less from a vending machine. When the sodas in their fridge are only 16 oz instead of 20 oz (they usually stock 20 oz), they charge the same price. The food is not made consistently the same by all the staff. I try only to go here when I want a plain coffee or a piece of fruit, but again, it is over priced. I try to bring my own food from home. read more

What a cozy little find! A coffee shop with a view! I walked in and the place had a great view of the Anchorage mountains. A nastalgic sound was coming from the corner as women was typing a novel on a typewritter. The decor wasn't traditional coffee shop, sorta a european feel, it was very comfortable. I set up my lap top and was pleased to discover wireless internet access! I had a GREAT mocha, that I later learned was made using Heritage Coffee, (roasted in Juneau). I didn't have annything to eat but they also had wraps and all kinds of fresh baked goods from various local establishments. I'll definate be back! read more

Cafe Ristretto Inc. has the best coffee in Anchorage. It is a great place to sit and have a cup of coffee, breakfast or lunch. The help are amazing. Very friendly, courteous and fun. The shop is the nicest one in Anchorage with a view to die for. The food and pastries are excellent. If you don't check it out yourselves, you are really missing the boat. I definitely give it the highest rating it can get. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. The baristas are great but working in the building when the owner goes to do anything she is so cheap about what she does. Her coffee is terrible her food is old. Ive seen her water down my latte, make my food with no gloves, and she is terrible to her employees. I used to be a regular and over my visits I have seen her disrespect her baristas yelling infront of customers, Ive been that customer making it akward for me to even complain about the old stale moldy jalopeno bagel I recieved from the owner and the barista getting yelled at for having it in the case(the owner cut it and served it to me) like all the other pastries id notice which ones had been sitting there ALL WEEK. Even if they are not busy I can't have a simple conversation with the nice baristas without the boss yelling at them to get to work or trying to shoo me out the coffee shop. I no longer order samdwiches out of the fridge because they arnt fresh by the end of the week or the container they are in is broken or dirty. Even if I order my food togo the togo container looks used or broken. I now only go in when the owner is not around because she is what has made all the bad times ive had bad and only get prepackaged food (chips,nuts,candy) small things she hasnt personally touched. read more
