5 stars: Laughed so hard I almost forgot I was hungry... almost. If you're in Bear Lake and don't stop at Café Sabor, I have questions about your life choices. We rolled in as a party of 9 (aka a logistical nightmare for most restaurants), but Firat and Hasan handled us like pros. Not only did they seat us like we weren't a small wedding party, they immediately brought out chips and salsa like the legends they are, which is clearly psychic and well-versed in hangry prevention. Firat and Hasan were HILARIOUS. Like, actual stand-up comedy while taking our drink orders. They had us laughing the entire time, cracking jokes with perfect timing. I don't know how they do it, possibly sorcery, definitely charisma. Bonus points for when they gave us the honest truth: "It's going to be a while for food." And it was. Over an hour. But you know what? They told us upfront, and somehow they made that wait feel like dinner theater. When the food finally came out, it was totally worth it. I ordered the shrimp ceviche and the Sabor Berry Mojito mocktail, and both were 10/10. Refreshing, flavorful, and honestly made me feel like I was on vacation somewhere with a better exchange rate. Fast service, fantastic food, and funny servers? Café Sabor is the whole trifecta. Book the table, bring your friends, and tip your servers well -- they deserve their own Netflix special. read more

Tex-Mex styled food, not authentic Mexican! Cafe Sabor is a decent Mexican food option in the Bear Lake area. I wouldn't say that it's the best Mexican food, but it gets the job done! We did takeout so I can't speak for the ambiance of the restaurant, but the to-go food came out quick and the staff was great! read more

I came here with high hopes and was expecting decent food. When I walk in I am immediately turned off. I feel something is off. The pork quesadilla catches my eye, so I oblige willingly. Once I got my food, it looked decent. But I took a bite and immediately regretted even coming here. 14 bucks for soggy quesadillas with little to no pork in it. Embarrassing. We tried to go here for dinner last night. We put our names on the waitlist through Yelp. We were given a time frame of when to be to the restaurant. We then received a text pushing that time frame back about 30 mins. No biggie! We appreciated the update. When we arrived at the restaurant we were told they could seat us, however, the kitchen was extremely backed up and we would have to wait at least an hour for food to be served. Really?? The hostess explained the kitchen staff is "bad". At this point it was 8:00 pm. We had tired and cranky kids. We left and will not be returning. Please don't allow guests to put their name on a waitlist, have them wait, then be told to wait even longer. Just be honest from the get go! read more

Their chicken chimichangas are pre made. I know this because I tried to order without cheese and the waitress came back and said they are premade and can't order without cheese. They should call this place Cafe Saborbibor. 1.5 wait on a pretty slow night for some of the worst food I have ever had. 12 people in our group--screwed up 5 of my parties order. Server checked on us maybe 3 times in 90 minutes. Filled my water once in the same timeframe. Bear Lake spots can be spotty, at best, but this set the bar SO SO So low. Avoid this like the plague, which, I have a 40% chance of contracting after eating at this crapshack. Let's be clear, maybe no restaurant in Bear Lake is actually five stars. BUT, the service here was so great I added a star because the food was four stars. Lots of free chips and salsa. Nice salads. The shrimp ceviche was legit. Hubby got a beer, I got the spicy margarita. Both were SO reasonably priced. The margarita was good and actually spicy, not too sweet. We love to go to Cafe Sabor when we travel. We go to the St George, Bear Lake and Island Park locations a few times a year. The food is always tasty, hot and comes out quickly. We've always experienced great service no matter how busy or slow they are. We love how many gluten free options there are. We are not celiac but have never had a reaction from Cafe Sabor. read more

Just know this is not authentic Mexican food!! Once you realize this is maybe Tex-Mex it's pretty good. The non spicy salsa was more like a marinara but the "spicy" salsa was delicious though, although not very spicy. The service and food were great. This is also one of the only places open on a Sunday. All in all a great spot close to Bear Lake read more

So we went to Cafe Sabor in Garden City while enjoying Bear Lake with the family. We had a large party of 13 and made reservations. It wasn't crowded on a Wednesday evening after the Fourth of July and they seated us quickly. Our waiter was friendly, which hasn't always been the case at this location. We sat outside on a couple of picnic tables in the shade, which was pleasant. Our food took about 45 minutes to come out but our server kept the chips and salsa fresh while we waited. I usually order the pollo con crema, and have really liked it in the past, but decided to switch it up and go with fajitas instead. Big mistake. How do you mess up fajitas? They're so simple, just the peppers and onions alone with a little salt and pepper would be okay, but no, they had to dump their tomato based salsa over them and over cooked the peppers and onions to almost mush. The tomato flavor from their salsa was so dominant you couldn't taste the peppers and onions, just tomatoes and the small bits of steak didn't stand a chance. I could barely eat any of it, my sister ordered the chicken fajitas and couldn't eat them either. If this was our first time here we would not go back, and the garden city location has never been the best. I also ordered nachos for the kids to share but with just cheese and jalapeños. These looked okay, but they brought them out with the entrees and nobody was hungry enough to eat them waste of $10.50. Ended up leaving the entire plate of fajitas and nachos almost completely untouched. The server never asked and at that time I was done and just wanted out. A couple people ordered the soup and said it was good. Tortilla soup and a coconut mushroom, I tried the coconut mushroom and it was good. Overall the food wasn't good, our server, Efe, was the best part of the meal and I don't blame him for the food. read more

The chips were not fresh and the guacamole was not mashed- just chunks of avocado and very little flavor, everything was bland and very Tex-Mex. Would not go back. Our food took an hour to come to our table (and only after we asked how much longer), they forgot our appetizer, our server never checked on us so we had to go up to the host stand every time we needed something, the women's bathroom was clogged (and wasn't fixed after we tried go again 30 mins later), and it was at least degrees inside. We come to Cafe Sabor each year for our annual Bear Lake trip. We are seriously considering changing this tradition next year, because of the poor service. Several mistakes were made in our party of 8, and one dish was not even served until about 15 minutes after everyone else was finished with their food. They asked us at the beginning if we wanted the checks split, and asked how to split it. Immediately after bringing out the long overdue meal, the check was delivered to our table in one check. Heard this was the place so we had to stop by. We had a great experience and Young G (people call him OG but he's young G to me) was a great waiter. Food on the other hand was alright, nothing too special. We got: Carne Asada- this dish was the best out of the 3 Al Pastor was chicken but we asked for pork. It was alright Chile Verde- Alright as well, too acidic for me.. Chips and Salsa- IDK why people complain, it's complimentary. There are not a lot of options at Bear Lake in late September. We've eaten here before and we're underwhelmed by the service, food, and prices. This time, we found the same experience. The Curry Coconut soup was bland and lacking any kind of substance. Broth with a few pieces of chicken. The burrito I ordered was large, and just ok. I ordered the Chile Verde sauce and it came out as green sauce. It amazes me how many restaurants don't know the difference. There was 1 waiter for the indoor and outdoor service, so no fault of his own. Needless to say, we will find other options in the future. read more

Cafe Sabor was recommended by Lynne from the University in Logon. It's the only Mexican restaurant in the Bear Lake area. They use local meats which added a star to the review. The manager, Almondo was my server and he did and excellent job! I ordered the beef burrito and veggies. When it arrived I knew I couldn't eat it all. The taste of the beef took the burrito to another level for my taste buds. My friend had the Chipotle salad with bbq chicken salad which was also super tasty and filling.
