Really lovely saag paneer, simple and flavorful with fresh spinach and their homemade paneer. My husband enjoyed his chooza dilbahar (chicken with spinach and mint). Been looking at this place for a while and finally got to try it yesterday. First off the ambiance was great. It was quiet, inviting and had beautiful calming music playing. The service was well too, the servers were friendly and helpful. The food was even better than I hoped it would be. We started off with the shrimp pakora and garlic naan. The shrimp was plump, juicy and deliciously crunchy. The naan was like a perfect buttery pizza crust, it was pillowy, perfectly chewy and slightly crisp. We ended up getting more with our dinner. Our meals were the star of the evening, My dad ordered the tandoori mixed grill and I had the lamb shahi korma. My lamb was melt in your mouth tender and the curry sauce was luscious, creamy and slightly sweet. My dad's mixed grill was incredible, Every thing was well seasoned, and had the perfect char, the chicken tandoori was juicy and so tender that it fell off the bone as I ate it, the lamb seekh was juicy, flavorful and once again tender. The boti kebab was like eating a perfect filet mignon, it was so tender, buttery and juicy. The rice was cooked to perfection, perfectly, fluffy and wonderfully spiced. It was one of the best Indian food experiences I've had and we will definitely be coming back. read more

Bewildered to see how low the reviews are! Every time I eat here I almost cry because the food is incredible. That sounds like an exaggeration, but it's absolutely not. Literally the best restaurant in Cleveland, in my opinion. Only ate inside once (I normally do takeout, which is very quick) but the service has been excellent. The vibe inside is nice as well. I'm so sad I found this place at the end of my 10 year stay here, otherwise I would have eaten here way more often!! read more

In Cleveland on business and my customer says this is his favorite local Indian place to visit. He knew all the secrets from parking in the back to how to order the food. He knew everyone in there as well! Lol. Atmosphere/Appearance: We came for lunch twice and both times it was pretty dead inside, but no matter. That just meant all the staff could focus their attention on us. Lol. Once in the screen door on the back side of the restaurant you walk past the kitchen, bathrooms then into the main dining room. The decor was pretty cool. I enjoyed the rounded arches and wide-open spaces. As I said before it was pretty dead in there so it was super chill inside. Service: Pretty good. My mans slacked on refilling my water a couple of times, but eh... he's running the whole restaurant by himself so... yeah. Everything was cool though. Food: Before our entrees came out we were given a basket of crispy "bread" of sorts. I don't like calling it that, but I don't know the official name. Naan maybe? Lol. Along with the "bread" came 3 different spreads. They were all fantastically delicious and I wanted more! For my entree I went with a lamb curry which comes with rice and it was amazing. The lunch portion is just right. It doesn't leave you feeling so full that you can't work after eating. Value: I can't remember how much stuff was, but it was certainly less than $20.00. That's pretty good for an Indian lunch that isn't a buffet or sorts. I liked this place and I see why my customer likes it so much. I was really hoping this place would be as good as I remember it being years ago, but they really let me down... I LOVE Indian food. Definitely one of my favs, if not my true fav. I had been to this restaurant years ago and I remember liking it. Unfortunately, this go around turned into a big disappointment. A friend living in the area invited me out and we decided on Cafe Tandoor because she had not been there. I vouched for the place from memory, so we went. We started with vegetable samosas and a I gave the mangotini a whirl. The samosas did not disappoint and the drink was delightful. Next, she ordered the Baingan Bharta and I got the Tandori Mixed Grill and we added some saffron rice. When the entrees arrived, they looked great, but I was a worried that my mixed grill was a tad over grilled. To my dismay, it was as dry as the Sahara desert and seriously could not be saved. When I politely informed our server, she said that's normal and offered no help. I said I could try a sauce of some kind and she offered to bring out the same chutney that came out with our appetizer. I gave it a shot, but the food was unfortunately ruined. When I gave the rice a try, it was ironically undercooked and my friend agreed. Her dish came out proper, which was nice, but we shared a sadness about mine. Luckily, the server went ahead and took it off the bill, which was definitely the right thing to do, considering the disappointment and that I had to leave a bit hungry. Shocked at how ripped off I was this evening. I paid $28 for two entrees- chicken shahi korma (creamy cashew sauce) and chicken tikka masala. TWENTY EIGHT DOLLARS FOR TWO PINTS OF FOOD AND ZERO RICE. NO UTENSILS. NO NAAN. JUST TWO PINTS. FFS. I am ticked. Where did my $28 go?!?!? This is worth $15 total max! What a huge rip. After two margaritas to forget how much money I just threw at these thieves, I tasted the food. The shahi korma was the creamiest Indian entree I've had out of the many I've tried here in Cleveland (all of which are very liquidy). I came here with some friends before heading to watch the Sound of Music at a local theatre. I ordered the Cholle (chickpeas) and a side of naan. The chole tasted okay, nothing special. The naan was not soft or fresh. It looked store bought and it looked as if the restaurant had placed it in the oven real quick to get it warm. The naan was crispy on the edges but the whole naan broke off very easily and tasted dry. My friend Tony's meal on the other handed looked so much better than mine (see photo below). I always love this small Indian restaurant. The food there is approachable and delicious. I often find myself ordering a double order of the paneer tiki masala, saffron rice, and garlic naan. You can choose a spice level from mild to spicy. From what I have heard, their spicy is extremely spicy. It's a small place that has been around for many years. They also have a sister restaurant in Westlake. The only downside is the cost. My typical order costs me $42. It's mostly for special occasions when I'm on my own for dinner. But it's a great little place that I'll continue to patronize until it becomes too expensive to afford. read more

We have been coming here for a while. PreCovid it was our favorite Indian Restaurant in the area. They struggled a bit (like so many restaurants did, and our favorite waiter left) but they are back to 5 stars for us. They were pretty busy for a Wednesday night, so we were glad to see that! We took advantage of the 1/2 price bottle of wine and had a nice Pinot Noir. Appetizers and Nan were spot on - piping hot and just the right texture -and delicious! Hubby had the Salmon Biriyani and I had Rogan Josh- simple but delicious! Our server made sure all was good and checked back often to ensure we were well taken care of. We stop here probably 5 -6 times a year. My wife's parents were in town and we wanted something easy and accessible. Since I am writing the review, I'm going to clearly make this about me. My wife's parents live in Texas. I don't think Indian food is a typical meal. They seemed to enjoy their food, or said they did. Neither finished their meal. My wife on I split a pashori naan, shrimp pakora and my favorite, non-vegetarian mixed platter. This is the second time in a row the the platter was not remotely hot. I wanted a hot meal. The chicken should be coming right out of the blazing hot oven. Since I couldn't make a stink, I had to take it to go and went home hungry. The shrimp was good. The naan was ok. The platter, not. Unfortunately this was the same night that their head chef was called back to India, and the replacement chef was not keeping up with the orders. Needless to say, my order of two curries took two hours to prepare; I waited around with a bunch of disgruntled uber eats drivers. We hadn't taken out from Cafe Tandoor for a year. As things were running late, we decided to order from CT. It was to be veggie and we decided on Navitaloni (so?) Curry, a Braised Eggplant dish, and Saffron Rice. The Curry was exceptional! Slightly sweet and chock full of veggies. Not a very liquid curry like the mango curry we had from a Thai place a week before, but a more solid, almost stew-like preparation. The eggplant dish was spicier and an interesting contrast to the curry. The Rice was good but its flavor was overcome by the other two dishes. My only complaint is that CT doesn't provide the rice with their entrees. You have to order (and pay for) rice. We have moved CT up toward the top of our takeout list and will be going back again. read more

There's a decent selection of items to choose from though some of my favorite dishes are not on the menu like Chicken Vindaloo, Mutten, etc. They do have Onion & Garlic Kulcha which I LOVE and other places do not have. The one thing I'm not crazy about is the pricing. Meals do not come with rice. You have to order that separately and that bumps up the price even further placing it higher than most Indian restaurants I've been to. Does it mean I won't order from here? No. I just won't come as often. I really wish they would update their hours on Yelp because I placed an order the other day when I was unable to talk due to COVID. I really wanted some Indian food and yelp said they were open. Yelp was the way for me to order and pay without having to talk and I had a friend go pick it up. Luckily I got a text message before my friend got to the restaurant saying that the order had been cancelled. I had to text my friend and tell her to turn back around. Just change the hours or let us know you are temporarily closed until further notice. It's not that difficult. I used to do this for a business. It takes 5 minutes and saves your customers time, frustration and a hold of $$$ placed on their account for up to 5 days. Had I been running short of money this week, I wouldn't have been able to order food from another place that actually was open. I do hope you open back up because I do love your food. Went there just the other day and loved our meal! We ordered the garlic naan, and aloo paratha to start with. Both were fresh and yuuuum. Husband got chicken tika masala and I got the vegetarian eggplant dish which I can't remember the name of for the life of me! But everything was good, fresh, and authentic! We got the saffron rice which was just 50c more and and oh so worth it. Haha. Not sure why this place has such bad reviews. Pro tip- dishes may be a little more mild than what you would get at other Indian places. Next time I go, I'm asking them medium spice at lease. read more

I am not a fan of spicy Indian food but decided to give it a try and started with place everybody was excited about. Atmosphere of the place was nice, restaurant was spaceous, I love sthe tablecloths and attentive service. Food was good and fresh but not all that zesty or exotic. House salad was made with discounted cucumbers and spiced up with paprica and dressed with oil and vinegar. Chicken was bright orange but still tasted just like regular roasted drumbsticks. I constantly had a feeling I could whip up such a dinner at home given a right recipe. The rest of the food was averagely good. Alcohol drinks also felt somewhat discounted but would get you drunk I guess. Prices were outrageous. This place just seems to be going downhill. Used to be my local Indian go-to, but will be looking at other options. Last couple times we had waiters who were working the whole dining room alone, slowly, while the manager and owner don't help much. The two waiters, the last two times we went (they were different) got out orders wrong, then the one tonight shoved his order pad in our face and argue and blame us for his mistakes. Missing appetizers, missing rice, which by the way, what Indian restaurant charges three dollars for rice? What Indian dish does not come with rice? Apparently everything here. In fairness, the food was good, but just not good enough to make up for the overall bad experience for the second time now. We shared our thoughts with the manager, who had absolutely nothing to say, not even an apology, and then sat there and glared daggers at us as we walked out of the restaurant.
