Goat Kadai - Basmati Rice - Paneer 65
Tee T.

First time dining at Desi Mama and for the most part all was good. Let me break my experience down: The restaurant was decently well kept. It was bigger than I thought inside. My husband and I dined in. The air was a lot but it was on a 73 degree day. No real problem. The waitress was nice and answered all of our questions. She was sweet! Her service was solid, but she was the only person waiting the tables. The food was ok. We ordered: Veg pakora - it was ok. I believe food color was added to the batter because the pakora came out red'ish, in my experience the batter is typically brown. It was bad at all. It came is a tasty mint chutney. Paneer 65 - I typically like this dish, but I just didn't at Desi Mama. I literally took two bites and just couldn't. It wasn't horrible but it was not what I was familiar with for a 65 dish. Somehow it had a sweet taste to it and I just didn't care for it. Chicken Chowmin - a fried noodles dish. Now this was my favorite from the visit. My husband ordered it with little spice. When I go back, I will order this but will include some spice. This is a nice dish! Try it! Goat Kadai - this was very favorable and good. I ordered garlic naan to pair with it, although it came with basmati rice. I enjoyed it, but one down side..... for the price of this dish, I wanted more than 2 pieces of goat. There were more bones than there was goat meat :( Plain naan - solid, can't got wrong with it! All in all, not bad..... I would go back. You should give it a try!

Dark chatpate? Should be bright with tomatoes and some puff rice. Not good.

Massive piece of bone in my chicken momo dumpling... Big no-no. Chatpate was dark brown and lacking tomatoes and traditional herbs. WAYYY too much puff rice. Chicken biryani was somehow bland. Usually the rice and spices is so apparent, but was poorly seasoned. Won't be returning

Hostess Ms Nandani made our evening to remember with her recommendations and made us feel like eating at our grandchildren home .God bless her for her extra effort to make us feel at home Faloda was a very good choice for dessert and so was Pastashew kulfi that made us a feel of back home. We very strongly recommend to all seniors of south Asia and all Americans to visit this restaurant. Dr. And Mrs. Javaid , a residents of Cleveland for the last 54 years

The North Olmsted location has a weekend lunch buffet, which my wife and I love. Beachwood does not, BUT they have something better. I can't remember what they call it, but it's a combination of entrees, rice, bread and dessert for one price $17 or $18. You can get it as Vegetarian or non-vegetarian. It comes on a big round "bowl/dish" with smaller bowls inside (like a large masala dabba, if you know what that is). The portions are perfect. They may look small at first, but you will get full! Beachwood is a more upscale version of SP. N. Olmsted is also very nice, but a little more of a casual atmosphere. My wife and I love both of them. We just tried the Beachwood location last weekend, and it was sooooo delicious. The atmosphere is very nice, and the staff was great. Try it!!!

The door is wonky though...super heavy and opens weird. They have a lot of different options and premade bowls. For someone who is not very familiar with Indian food, this place makes it easy to customize and try out stuff. Nothing was too spicy or too overspiced, thankfully. Everything tasted relatively fresh but the portions are too small for the price. It's not like at Chipotle or Cilantro where they fill up your bowl. I almost never finish my portion in one sitting but I had no problem doing so here. I wish there were more veggie toppings and not just pickled ones. Scallions and cilantro would be great options to have. The mango lassi was delicious but so small. The inside is high ceilinged, spacious and has plenty of seating. The big group bench in the middle had such heavy and had awkward block seats. They were hard to get in and out of and were so uncomfortable.

The lunch menu is limited, with a few appetizers and salads and a couple of soups. There are also several sandwiches and a few very expensive entrees that look like they belong on the dinner menu. We had the daily black bean soup, house salad, and a sandwich. We enjoyed the food but nothing was notably attractive or unappetizing. We had to drive back to Pittsburgh after lunch so we couldn't indulge in a glass of wine, so we didn't even look at the list. Overall a pretty decent lunch, so we'll do it again next time.
