Good food just don't expect to get your food before waiting a minimum of 30 minutes. I've only ever seen one person behind the counter and serving customers in the dining area. So that one person is constantly doing something because she's also the one toasting the bread and running the cash register and answering the phones. I've only been in there a couple of times. I only go there when I know I don't mind waiting 30 mins Plus for food. But I like the food and the prices are good for the amount of food you get. read more

The food is alright it doesn't really have that true Cuban food flavor and they never really seem to have a big selection after 2pm

My husband and I walked in and nobody greeted us - we had no idea if they sat us or if we sat ourselves. We finally sat at a really dirty table. All the tables around us were filled with plates people had left and nobody had cleaned yet. So there were tons of flies. The one lady serving just one family walked by us 10 times and never even took our order. Needless to say, we walked out. I don't care how inexpensive a place is, they should at least greet customers and make them feel like they want their business. read more

The best restaurant so far on our Miami-Clewiston-Fort Myers-Tampa 2 weeks Florida trip. Every single dish was delicious.

This is my second time eating here and I love it. The Cuban sandwich was great on my first trip last year and I had the pork plate today. Oh my, I could eat it everyday! First time trying the Yuca and it was great too! Looking forward to my next years annual fishing trip here! read more

Our party of seven stopped here for lunch on a Sunday, early afternoon. We were encouraged because the parking lot was pretty full. We didn't realize most of the people eating here were here because the food is cheap and the portions are large. Every single person we saw took home at least as much food as they'd eaten. The food was, in a word, awful. The Cuban sandwich had exactly three pickle rounds on it, three skinny slabs of completely unidentifiable meat (all the same meat, I might add), and some tasteless cheese that would have been better off staying in the cow. It was drowning in mayonnaise, so much so that when my friend bit into the sandwich the first time, mayo squirted all over the table. They forgot the mustard. They must have also forgotten the rest of the pickles, the pork (because it's our theory that the tasteless slabs were imitation ham of some sort), and the butter. The lechon asado was an absolute disgrace. First, the meat was so tough that I had to ask for a steak knife, and even then, it couldn't be cut. I left almost all of it on the plate. The onions that came with it were barely cooked through. The was no seasoning on any of it, at least, none I could taste. We asked for yucca, which the menu offered as an alternative. We all received plantains, which were so over-cooked that the outsides were hard. The beans were lukewarm and completely tasteless, as was the yellow rice. The only decent thing was the bread we were initially served, which was warm and crisp. Unfortunately, it was pre-buttered, without much of that. We all, including the child, left most of the food on our plates. No one bothered asking why. Finally, adding insult to injury, the person paying for our meal was first in line at the cash register. We couldn't wait to get out of there. But no. There were three separate groups of locals behind us, and they were ALL checked out first, while we stood waiting. Mind you, we hadn't criticized the meal to anyone, we hadn't said a word. But we were obviously not local, and we were treated as such. I cannot begin to rate this restaurant badly enough. The bathroom is dirty. The table top was covered in crumbs, and our waitress couldn't be bothered cleaning it. The only reason none of us got sick, I firmly believe, is that none of us ate more than a couple of bites before fleeing. read more

What a disappointment. Service was slow & place was noisy. Ordered a steak sandwich but was served the Cuban sandwich special which just turned out to be a ham & Swiss sandwich on a toasted bun, certainly nothing special. Ordered French fries also but they were out. What more can I say. read more

Wish I could have tried the food after reading the reviews but After walking in and being totally ignored for 15 minutes and watching an employee spend the entire time on the phone while another one looked like they were doing all the work decided it may be a long time before we saw any food. Maybe will try again if we don't see many cars in the lot. read more

Cubana sandwich is nothing to run home about. Doesn't come with penir or pickles or garlic sofrito...steaks are super tasty but you only get like 2 ounces read more

We headed from the east coast of Florida to meet my cousin and significant other who were coming from the other coast. We settled on Clewiston, and after reading the reviews, decided on Cafe Tropical. What a delight! The menu is small, but there's a good selection for everyone. The chicken and the pork are excellent, the beans and rice delicious and the plaintains prepared just right. This is a small, local restaurant next to a convenience store, family run with love. If you are passing throuigh Clewiston, it's a great spot to eat. The place is open 7 days a week, draws a lot of locals and welcomes everyone with a smile and a caring attitude. First the good: We both had the Cuban Sandwich and neither had any problem with them except that they only had one slice of pickle. Three would have been more appropriate but since we live in a Cuban sandwich desert, they were ok. Now the bad: Paid or at least tried to pay with credit card which was denied on three tries. Other CC was no problem. Charged gas down the street on denied CC about five minutes later with no problem. Got to destination three hours later and checked CC site to see that there were three pending charges for $17 on the denied card. Called restaurant and was given owner's number. He answered promptly and assured me that charges would be taken off which happened while I was talking to him. He couldn't be that fast and I think the CC site noticed something about the three denied charges and removed them. So, check your CC statements after going here. Cuban was still pretty good. read more
