This spot is an absolute must try! Coffee was premium and not at a premium price! It seems like they make it just to order and they have such unique flavors to try! I got the white lavender latte and it was so creamy and delicious! I wish I could come here more often but it's a little too far out the way but you can bet your bottom dollar next time I'm over here I will be back!

I've had my eye on this place for a while. I am always visiting the chocolate store across Ashby, so I never make it in. Their signboard has had some intriguing seasonal offerings. I finally stopped in today and decided to try their pistachio latte and a slice of chocolate coffee cake. The coffee was just the right hint of nutty and delightfully creamy. The cake was studded with a lovely streusel and slivered almonds. It had a great crumb and was chocolatey without being too much. I think it might have been gluten free, too. The staff was friendly and the space was clean and bright. Coffee offerings come from women purveyors, which I fully support. Recommended

Stopped by for a morning pick me up and really enjoyed the ambience and coffee. The vibes are super nice and open and airy. There is lots of natural sight and seating and even a small outdoor area to sit at. I've heard this place gets super crowded but when I went early it was pleasant with not too many people. I ordered an oat latte which was super creamy and yummy! It wasn't too sweet either. I wish it was slightly hotter by the time I got it. Service was also super fast and efficient here as well! Also look at the latte art

I saw the cute Chagacinno sign and went in but unfortunately they ran out! I ordered a strawberry matcha and I believe it was about $7 and there's a small fee for to go cup. I am sad on how small the cup is. It's really small. Other small cafes give me the triple the amount for the same price. Staff are nice. I probably will come try the Chagaccino but maybe that's it.

Matcha is super disappointing. Has zero matcha flavor not to mention it's $8 for a 6oz cup. Don't waste ur money :(

Giving this two stars, would give it one if it weren't for the ambiance. Their drinks are really not the best quality, matcha only tastes like milk, no matcha taste at all, mind you it was $8. It is quite pale in color. It is funny how they have a little flyer promoting their matcha when it is subpar. I have gone here a collective 3 times and the reason why I keep coming back is because of the open space they have for studying- it truly is the ideal study spot with indoor and outdoor seating. The other time I got the hibiscus iced tea and it wasn't even iced it was room temperature.... why promote it as iced when in reality it isn't.

Cute coffee shop right on the corner in Berkeley. Their menu is small, but their options are good. The strawberry and cream toast is amazing on sourdough bread with cream cheese, strawberries, and honey and the tomato pesto. Toast was good due to a nut allergy. Had to hold off on the pesto, but the mozzarella and tomatoes are fresh barista was very knowledgeable of drinks. The service was great.

Similar to the old location, the intentionality in creating a beautiful atmosphere and serving great drinks is present. I've ordered the strawberry matcha latte, rooibos tea, oat chai latte - all have been consistently great. It is almost always packed but doesn't affect the friendly service. Lots of seating options and outlets, so it's great for work. The only con is parking and foot traffic in the area is congested.

solid oat chai latte with adorable latte art! i snagged a window seat on a rainy day & the atmosphere inside the cafe is quite lovely. however, the wifi didn't work for me at all so not the best place to work if you need a stable connection.

Let's address the elephant in the room: I did not use the internet, so this review is based on to-go orders. This new corner College Ave spot is the second location, the first location being the uber popular North Berkeley locale. This spot is modern, large and airy. Plenty of seating inside, with some limited front patio seating. It has a full menu serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner, wine, beer and array of coffee and tea drinks. The food options actually sound super appealing and I look forward to coming back for a try. I agree from other reviews, it's louder than one would think for studying. For a quick pastry and coffee takeout, it wasn't bothersome. Maybe they don't want people staying for hours like they do in North Berkeley? The coffee is great. I usually get a latte if some sort and it's smooth. The most recent try was the chaggucino which had mushroom powder and monk fruit sweetener. It was so sweet to the point that I was like there has to be sugar in here, but it was delicious, creamy and well made. Pastries are fine, not life changing, but I did spy a mini chocolate babka I'll have to come back for. Price: not cheap. This spot is ringing at the higher end of cafes, both for food and drink. Fancy coffees are $6+, pastries $6+, menu items at $16/17+. To note: everything does seem high quality. Overall, I'm a fan of this upscale coffee shop. I'd hope they fix their internet and listen to their customers that seemingly music may be an issue. But, for a quick visit, it's delightful and a convenient spot for some bougie eats and drinks.

    Sarah T.

Only tried the coffee which was good enough. The space is nicely updated and would still be a good place to meet people. Pastries look average.

Cafenated Coffee opened in the vacated Expresso Roma's space. Coffee bar is centrally located in front of the entrance, able to service patrons instantly. Decor subdued. Pop ups, community events are frequent.. Offerings: covfefe, pastries, toasts, salad, Sammies... Drink: chaggaccino (7) choice of milk -healthier than a latte, has Chaga, cacao, cinnamon, vanilla & monk fruit sweetener -organic, sugarless, keto, plant based milk, no artificial junk. Drips: -wasn't feeling the eats offerings -choose the featured drink to try something new, not disappointed. Forgot to specify oat milk... -may re-order this drink again with oat milk. Drips: -3 separate area for laptoping, most tables occupied, 2 outside. -2 unlabeled restrooms in corner. One with a mural.

The owners are super nice and genuinely helpful, and the whole place feels welcoming the second you walk in. The book selection is also really solid. I always end up finding something (often have to reign myself in), especially in the thriller section, but they also have classics mixed in, too, which I love. One of my favorite parts is that you can actually sit and read while having a glass of wine. The wine selection is really fun, and they have some unique varietals that you don't see everywhere, which makes it even better. I also love that they do book and wine pairings each month. It's such a cool idea and makes it feel like there's always something new to check out. You can also join their book club, which includes a new book and a paired bottle of wine. Also, you need one of their bags. Trust me. If you love books and want a cozy little place to hang out, I definitely recommend stopping in.

When I go into a cafe, dishes usually include sandwiches, baked sweets, pancakes or waffles. But there are times when I look at the menu and I'm trying to wake up, so I want a simpler menu. Here, they have the toast with butter. Yes, this is the perfect dish for the moment that I tend to have when choosing the first meal of the day. I also love their other menu, which is the toast with a canned fish. The cafe also sells these alongside coffee beans. The toast is sliced thick with a generous smear of butter. The toast surface has a golden shine from the melted butter. Every bite has a juicy butter taste. On the side of toast is a side of a beautiful semi-boiled egg with a runny yolk -- my favorite type of way to eat yolks. Next time, when I visit here, I will definitely try the canned fish and eat that for breakfast. That is another good breakfast menu I would love to have and try with a cup of coffee.

The good: Their vanilla latte is genuinely good. Flavorful, balanced, and not overly sweet. The food is decent too. The bad: Why is a vanilla latte pushing $7 these days and still arriving nowhere near the top of the cup? When I asked about it, I was told it's just one ice cube short of the normal volume. But consistently? Maybe that's what they mean by Ain't Normal. My bigger issue is the service. Maybe I've caught them on off days, but the staff has consistently come off with a bit of attitude. Nobody needs a parade when they order coffee, but a little warmth goes a long way, especially when you're charging specialty coffee prices. At the end of the day, the coffee is good enough that I've come back more than once. I just wish the cups were fuller and the customer service matched the quality of the drinks.

Also for some reason the olive oil tastes rancid. They did offer free bread that I saw them cutting from what looked like a baguette bought from Safeway. We also got the pasta ragu. The pasta itself was aldente but the sauce did not have much depth of flavor. Really seemed like something I could make at home. Decor was bare. Lots of seating though. One mild critique is the oysters were wonderful but pre-garnished, I prefer to season oysters myself, and I didn't think their choices elevated already good oysters, despite the aesthetic of the presentation. As others mention service charge is included, which I emphatically prefer because the last thing I want to do after treating myself to wine and oysters is contemplate the bill. We'll be back!

Editorial comments: First time visit, so I didn't really know what to expect, although I've had my share of trendy little restaurants. Upon arriving at the outdoor podium to check in, a young man in a paint spattered T-shirt greeted us and showed us our table. I wasn't expecting formal dinner wear, but is there such a thing as too casual? However, the food and service didn't disappoint. I don't eat mollusks or raw shellfish, but my catfish was excellent. The beer was OK. I would suggest reading the current menu prior to arriving if possible, so the ordering process isn't needlessly drawn out.
