    Ube Latte

A nice and relaxed environment serving great drinks. My favorite is their Ube Latte. It's an absolute must! It's rich and delicious. Enjoy!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice clean place, staffing super nice and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The coffee good so is the matcha latte. I just wished had seasonal flavor drinks. I am all about trying new things

This has always been one of my go to coffee spots in Downtown Oakland. I've spent many a morning enjoying an open face bagel (everything bagel, cream cheese, avocado, sprouts, olive oil, s&p) after a workout. I've also enjoyed a brew or two at their bar in the evening. Coffee is consistent with a few grab and go beverages in their cooler. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Depending on the date and time you may run into an open mic, networking event or jam session.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I appreciate the vibes, the clean restrooms and the service is just friendly enough to keep me coming back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Signed, The Happy Hour Huntress

I stopped by this neighborhood gem in Oakland on Broadway on my way to the Blank Panther Museum- the salted caramel latte encompasses everything in the name. It's smooth, but not too sweet and fills the soul.

Woakland Tonic & Ube Latte w/ espresso
    Abi H.

Stopped by during our morning walk for a Friday morning pick me up! We got the Woakland Tonic & Ube Latte with an added espresso shot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The entrance could be a bit easy to miss if they didn't have those bright yellow chairs right outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I wish the interior furniture had some of that yellow to make it pop, but it felt more like a classic modern coffee shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seems like it could be a nice cafe for remote work![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The coffee itself felt light & allowed the other flavors in the tonic to shine, which I enjoy. The Ube latte was definitely missing that classic Ube flavor but maybe it was overshadowed by the espresso we added in. It looked like there was only one person making drinks, but even with just one person they were still able to get our drinks out pretty fast given the circumstances. It took about ten minutes from ordering since there was a line before us. I would come back, but specifically to try their bagels. I couldn't stop eyeing them in the pastry case!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I was Blessed to chill in this very cool cafe for a few hours.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was greeted at the register, and wanted to sample their award winning roasted coffee so I ordered the Lavender Latte with oat milk. I chose oat milk based on Paul's recommendation. The presentation was so beautiful and the temperature was perfect. (See photo) The flavor was delicious and if I was drinking more coffee I would have ordered another. Trying to cut back on daily coffee consumption, and had already drunk my morning mushroom coffee earlier. Back to the review- I then ordered some food and chose an everything bagel with their housemade hummus. The bagel was crunchy and not too chewy as can happen when heated. The hummus was very smooth with a nice light flavor. So spreadable, and there was a generous helping. The staff are all very personable. The location on maps is a little tricky. The cafe is located on Broadway which parallels Telegraph more or less? The cafe is near the corner of Telegraph and Broadway where they both join. Worth the extra effort to find. Hope my directions are helpful.

    Espresso & almond milk macchiato
    Felix W.

I got an espresso and almond milk macchiato. Both were excellent. The espresso had great texture and flavor. Slightly acidic, not bitter at all, some fruity notes as well. The macchiato was well balanced and the texture was great.

I was in downtown Oakland on an early Sunday morning, and saw this shop and decided to stop in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is really cute inside![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a latte and herb biscuit which hit the spot. Thank you!

Most days I want coffee, but this morning, I was really craving a matcha latte. Decided to venture a different way from my hotel and arrive to Awaken Coffee. Super cute ambience inside and their baked goods looked bomb. Cashier was super nice and was in and out with minutes. Super happy with my iced matcha!

    Ube Latte (caffeine free)
    Emily W.

First impression the place is very clean and has good air flow. It has a big space for people to come sit and have their coffee. It serves coffee, tea and food/lunch. I try their Ube Latte, that's what it was exciting me. It served its purpose for the hot weather. The barista was super friendly and nice. She told me that the Ube have no caffeine in it but you can also add an espresso in it. First slip was very good, I enjoy the small chunk of Ube. I added some honey for more sweet, but you don't to because it's already sweetened. Definitely come back try their coffee next!

amazing coffee is downtown oakland. the store manager should definitely work little bit more training people for customer service. (a tall white guy was working there. he was very much unfriendly) besides that everything was great.

    Matcha latte, large
    Sydney J.

I've passed by many times when walking in downtown Oakland, but decided to finally stop in it. On Monday afternoon, there were a few people ahead of me so it took about 8 minutes to get my drink. I ordered a matcha latte, large, iced, whole milk. It's currently $6.50 for a regular size matcha latte and $7.25 for large before tip. It comes unsweetened by default which I like, since it allows me to taste the matcha better. It still had a little more milk than I prefer. I'm bummed that it costs as much as it does, but I know this is actually average or better for a matcha latte of that size in this area. They offer a seasonal fall special of pecan pie latte and I also saw they sell lavender, salted caramel, and ube lattes which I'm interested in trying in the future.

Do you still have salads? Haven't been able to go back during the pandemic

We aren't currently offering salads. We have bagels with all the fixings, toast, granola & yogurt, and pastries!

Are there plans to expand the hours at some point? (if I remember the café used to be open around 7am and closed around 6ish or 8ish?

Yes! Likely in the next 2-3 months we will add an evening shift back and be open until 7pm! Stay tuned.

Im confused also on WiFi - some tips say there's WiFi Sunday - Tuesday and others say there in no WiFi at all, can anyone clarify?

we currently do not offer any wifi at our cafe. (the sunday to tuesday was something we did a few years back when we were transitioning away from wifi).

Do you still have a no electronics policy? If not, do you have free WiFi?

Computers and other electronic devices are always allowed, but we do not offer WiFi. Tethering or hotspots are fine! Thanks!

When I went to close out my tab at the bar, the staff member who came over to help me gave me the dirtiest, impatient, pissed-off look that I've ever received in my life. It was as if I had kicked his dog and personally insulted him, his family and his entire generational line. When he gave me the payment device, he must have accidentally navigated away from correct screen because I didn't have any options to close out my tab (i.e. there was no tip screen, or place to request a receipt). I handed the device back to him and before I could point out the issue, he snatched the device away and rushed off. Knowing something was wrong, I waited at the counter for a few minutes for him to return. I raised the billing issue and his curt response was "you must have waited too long and the screen disappeared -- you're fine". I returned to my table knowing that something was off, but left with my friends since they needed to head out to a dinner reservation. After we had said our goodbyes to our friends outside the brewery, I shared the strange interaction I had closing out my tab with my wife, and as a precaution, she recommended that we head back to the brewery to try to close out the tab again, just in case something was overlooked. I thought this was a good idea, but this time, asked my wife to try to close out my tab, as I didn't want to experience the wrath of the impatient staff member again. To absolutely nobody's surprise, the tab was not closed out! This staff member is by far, the rudest individual that I've encountered in the service industry and should reconsider their employment if they hate customer interactions this much. Truly appalled by my experience and won't be coming back anytime soon. If management wants to investigate the issue further, the tab was opened at the outside bar at 8/14/26 4:23 PM, check #35, and was transacted on by three separate staff members: 1) first person who opened the tab was friendly 2) second person who added on the second round of drinks was the same rude individual who didn't correctly close out my tab later in the evening, and 3) the third staff member was the one who finally properly closed out the tab with my wife at 7:11 PM.

Tl;dr - A true beer garden ala Texas/Midwest, with the food, beer, and relaxed summer vibes you all…read moredream of. There's something for the whole family aside from some truly tasty beers. I've been coming here for awhile, ever since one fine afternoon I was in town on business and was feeling a need for craft beer. I was once the world's predominant authority on craft beer in my own mind, but years of chugging ales have decimated my tolerance for it. Anywho, the first thing you'll notice about this spot is it's out there, pretty far off from downtown Alameda tucked away in an old military pier alongside some other more enterprising establishments. Lots of parking so there's that. Inside, they are definitely doing that thang, massive brewery stacks dominate the background but the space is massive so it supports an almost endless amount of tables, benches, and spots to hide out. Arcade machines, outdoor activities (even a kids sandbox) really add the "Adventureland" elements that make it more than just a standard brew joint. If you've had their beer, it's definitely on the expensive side, but they keep a healthy variety that I would say is all reliably refined and delicious. Its no 2000 era Bells or modern day Founders, but I particularly like their love hazy and the Mexican style lagers. My friends who like sours say they are also quite good. Although this place is really not directly affiliated with the business it's definitely a reason I go so I can't leave it out -- they have food trucks outside that handle most of the food there and the one they have there always has one of the best burgers I've ever had in the bay, hands down. It's a blackened blueberry and blue cheese burger and even though I don't like blue cheese, this unholy alliance is faaaaaaan-friggin-tastic. Must try. Service is casual, they do flights which is a great way to try things. Not sure about any happy hours, would love to see them get a mug/growler thing going here for discounts, they might have something already I'm just not aware of but nothing is obvious when I've gone. It's a great spot to kick it with some friends on a nice day or late afternoon, having a few beers and relaxing. California doesn't really do the beer garden thing like we do in the Midwest, you'll find spots like this all over Michigan so it's nice to see something of the same type here finally. I believe dogs are allowed too ala Texas vibes, but not 100% on that so I'd check ahead of time. Personally, I cannot stand seeing dogs at restaurants and bars so even if they do allow it, those aren't your kids, can we start reporting places that allow dogs without signage? If I brought a raccoon in on a leash would you be fine with that? It's a sanitation issue. Anyways, I digress, if you like beer, you like fun, and you like damn fine burgers, this is the best spot on the other side of the pond. 'nuff said.
