The Mustang chicken had that perfect kick and depth of spice, and the pork sekuwa was grilled just right--smoky, tender, and super satisfying. I recently visited this establishment and unfortunately had a negative experience. After returning home, I became ill and experienced symptoms consistent with food poisoning the following morning. The chow mein appeared overly greasy and unusually dark in color, which affected its overall quality despite having the expected vegetables. The momos were satisfactory; however, the price--nearly $40 for 16 pieces--felt quite high for the value provided. On a positive note, the staff were very kind and welcoming, and I hope they are compensated fairly for their service. Reasonable prices. I ordered the Goat Curry, medium spice ($19) with saffron rice ($2) and hot milk tea ($5). Was a little disappointed by the goat curry. The flavor was excellent, but the meat was a bit tough. Ample serving size though so I'll have 1 or 2 more meals with what I ordered. The hot milk tea was alright. Nothing to write home about. Not very sweet, and they only offer Stevia packets, so pass. Our server was a chirpy, chipper guy, and they play some good folk or country music. They have every kind of top shelf alcohol and I even tried a Himalayan beer, which was different but good. The flavors of the food were exceptional. We had never tried Nepali food before, but one day we were driving by, saw the soft‑launch signs out front, and decided to give it a try. Best decision ever. From that very first visit, we were hooked. The Tipsy Fries, veggie chow mein, and Mustang Chicken are our go‑to favorites. Every dish is packed with flavor and made with such fresh ingredients. The chicken is always tender, perfectly seasoned, and the spices just burst in your mouth in the best way. You can tell the kitchen puts real care into every plate that comes out. One of the biggest reasons we keep coming back, though, is the staff. Every single employee here is friendly, warm, welcoming, and genuinely upbeat; they never seem to have a bad day. They remember us, greet us like family, and create such a positive atmosphere that you can't help but feel good being here. The space itself is great too. The restaurant is surprisingly large, with a lively bar area in the front and a spacious dining room tucked behind it. Rubina was incredibly helpful from the moment I called to plan the celebration and made sure everything was set up perfectly for our group in the back area with heaters and karaoke. Since we first curiously wandered into the Tipsy Yeti during their soft opening, my wife and I have been enchanted by the Tipsy Yeti. We've made it a frequent date night option. The cocktails are delicious and strong, with the Tipsy Maicha being a favorite. The bartenders are knowledgeable and happy to work off book for requests. And they have a strong selection of liquors, including a special Nepali rum which is poured out of a bottle shaped like a khukri! The food is delicious and service is great. They've got specials every day of the week that seem to be interesting enough to bring people in, live music, etc. We went on Friday evening, the day after Thanksgiving, so it was pretty quiet. The ambience is very nice; a mixture of industrial with traditional art. I really liked the fact that they had both western, fusion and traditional (?) Items on their menu. We ordered a couple of drinks ($20 for a cocktail and $10 for a draft beer), the Himalayan pizza, the scampi pasta dish and the flamed "cheese" balls for dessert. Now for the important bits... The drinks are VERY overpriced! High end restaurant - this is not one of them - may get away with charging $20 for a cocktail but here it's a bit of highway robbery. $14-$16 fir a cocktail and $7-$8 is comparable to market value. The Himalayan pizza was very good. The crust was nicely baked. it comes with a dry curry rub (no tomato sauce) that is not overpowering. BE AWARE: the menu states that you have an option of meats for the pizza but when we asked the waiter, he said it comes with only with chicken (no other options). While the pizza was very good, it came out 30 minutes before my scampi dish. My dinner partner was kind enough to share some of the pizza, but it was not a forgivable problem. They definitely have to do a better job of time management. I can't imagine how it would be if there were more than three tables seated at the restaurant. It was virtually empty! The scampi dish was pretty good, but unlike any scampi I've ever had. It had no sauce (dry), was very lemony/acidic and with no hint of any wine reduction. It was enjoyable, but eating it was awkward when my dinner partner had already finished their dish. The desert for us was the worst part of the whole experience unfortunately. The $15 charged for the flam Aid cheese balls was extremely disappointing for one thing the balls were.gulab jamun - a common sweet Indian dessert balls. They were very dance and doughy. There was no cheese to be found. The most atrocious thing however, is that you got two small balls for the $15. This dessert is no way worth that amount of money. $6-$7 is a more appropriate price for what they give you So why four stars? If half stars were allowed, I would've given them 3 1/2 stars but I think there's potential there if they lower the price of their drinks and dessert and get their kitchen in order with respect the timing. read more

I went here for happy hour and dinner on a Wednesday evening. It wasn't crowded and the space was a lot bigger than I thought since there are 2 sides. I got the Khoya Birkhe because I was interested in trying Nepali whisky. It's definitely more subtle like Japanese whisky. Overall the cocktail was ok, but I couldn't taste all the flavors listed. The tornado fries were good but a little too salty. The lamb Choila was a huge portion with good flavor but slightly overcooked. I would give this place a second try though. read more

I love the location and the fact that this place brings life to this part of San Pablo. I'm about walking distance away and will definitely come in for a beer during a playoff game - TVs everywhere! The vibe is a mix of sports bar and nice mid-range restaurant. The bar is really pretty and the big wooden table in the middle of the restaurant really makes the decor cozy. I like their Fall decorations, as well. Servers are friendly, but service is slow, which also was a negative. It took us a long time to order, and then the server came over and said the kitchen was backed up and would be another 20 minutes. They really need to have more staff if that's the case because it was NOT a full restaurant that night (on a Friday, too). If I was starving, I would have straight up had a hangry fit and left because 20 minutes on top of 20 minutes to order was just egregious. Now onto the food - we had the Vegetable Curry and the Paneer Momos. Both were really good, but the Momos were a 10/10 and the Curry an 8/10. It was just enough food for two people who aren't extremely hungry to share. That's where I'm a bit disappointed - the prices are expensive and the portions could be larger. $20 cocktails really turned me off. I've only ever seen those prices at up scale bars and this is definitely not one of those. I also just don't understand paying that much for a cocktail anymore, so I just don't. I know, I have a lot of gripes but I'm sticking with 4 stars because they are a new restaurant with some kinks to iron out and I really do like the food and ambiance. Welcome to Berkeley, Tipsy Yeti Restaurant & Bar! With a babysitter in-tow, my husband and I came in to enjoy a special evening just the two of us. Tipsy was in their early soft opening phase but being Valentine's Day, we figured we would give it a go. Such a beautiful space, and all the bones for the makings of a great restaurant. The owners mentioned the rebrand of the space explores Nepali and Continental cuisine, also with a very brilliant bar upon entry. And small stage for solo acts in the future! I think there was a guitar and maybe tambourine waiting on stage for someone like my husband after one more round :) Would love to see something live soon! For starters we had the house-made artichoke fritters, and for mains, the Himalayan Pizza and a burger. Everything was incredibly flavorful and full of spice and truly, everything nice. My husband said the burger was really good, juicy and great quality ~ the pizza was truly a fusion of flavors that woke the tastebuds. Super yummy, reasonably priced. We met a few different ppl from the family behind this special spot and everyone was kind and gracious to accept constructive feedback on ways tighten the menu and any improvements we thought could be helpful. I think from everything we've seen post-meal, this spot is well underway! We took a ride-share because we wanted to explore the newly-renovated Missouri Lounge and walk to dinner, so just be cautious of leaving time to find parking if need-be. There's another new restaurant next door also, Lao Garden, so lotsa new Berk spots to help support in their newly-opened stages. THOUGHTFULNESS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE: I'm visiting from Wisconsin and I wanted to watch the Wisconsin-Purdue Big Ten Tournament basketball game. I was calling around to see where it was playing. I called several places. When I called Tipsy Yeti, she said "Yes, we can put it on." Then 10 minutes later I got a call saying, "We're not sure we can get it, but we'll keep trying. We don't want you to make the trip for nothing. We'll call if we can get it." I decided to head down anyway. The game was playing on both screens in the bar when I arrived. ABOUT THE FOOD ETC. This was my first time trying food from Nepal, and I'm so glad I chose Tipsy Yeti for it! Tipsy Yeti is divided into two, with one side of the restaurant having a bar and the other having regular dining tables for family dining. They also have a patio in the back if you want to dine outside instead. We didn't eat out there, but it looks like a perfect spot for karaoke and delicious Nepali food. While the restaurant looks modern, they have a beautiful Nepali design on top of their bar that looks very intricately made. My party and I got Rubina as our server. I absolutely loved her service! She was so attentive and respectful of the differences in my parties' eating preferences. My partner eats gamier meat, so she recommended the goat curry to him, and since I don't do well with spicy food, she recommended their milder dishes. My favorite dishes were their tipsy fries and the momo dumplings. It's marinated in Nepali seasonings and fried to be beautifully crisp without losing the fluffy texture of the potatoes. Rubina suggested that we get the momos with the chicken filling in the sizzled form. They also have the momos steamed or fried, but the sauce that the sizzler momos came in was so flavorful! They were generous with the fillings inside the dumpling, and I really loved eating the bell peppers and onions on the hot plate. My partner and I came here with our friend who we shared their duck choila with. The duck was cooked so well! It was tender, not overcooked, and super easy to eat. The Nepali seasonings took me a bit to get used to since it was my first time having these flavors, but I really appreciated how well-cooked all the different proteins were. We also had their matina mocktail, which was so refreshing! The matina was a 10/10! There's another side of Tipsy Yeti's menu that has more comfort foods like pizza, burgers, and pasta. I'm looking forward to trying those on my next visit (and hopefully with Rubina as my server!!), but I wanted a deep dive into Nepali food for my first time here. Wow. We stopped by at 5pm for drinks and food at the bar. The lighting and music playlist was mellow. The martinis were ridiculously low on the volume end. There was insanely loud noise coming from the kitchen for the hour and a half we were there.. it drowned out the music. A kitchen worker apologized and said they "were making sauce. We need to do that." He was sweet. The industrial noise was non stop. No idea. Then... the food. We ordered the fried calamari and the three chicken Momos to split. The calamari was HEAVILY fried and breaded. Of course the oil was probably the cheapest that you could use to fry things with. We could taste absolutely no taste of calamari. So we started to cut into the massive breading to see what was underneath and the calamari was about the bandwidth of a very small diameter rubber band. When we tasted the rubber band aside from the bread breading it had absolutely no taste of calamari.. was it cardboard, unfortunate worms? In our experience, Momo's are lovely entrées that are steamed. The Momos that we ordered seemed to have been deep-fried. They were gross. A tiny bit of chicken and a large covering. Keep moving.
