We had an 8 PM reservation and had to wait a little bit, but the food came out quickly and everything was delicious. Our favorite was actually the house-made vanilla ice cream in the affogato. Shoutout to Paige for answering all our questions and being so patient with us. We've been here several times now and the food and service have always been great. My rating is mostly reflective of my experience with the host working the night of 8/29/26. My friend made a reservation for us for my birthday and forgot to include my husband on the reservation. Not a big deal we thought we'd just ask if we could adjust to add another person to the reservation. She spent all day trying to call and get in touch with someone but only got an AI response and wasn't able to request any adjustments. My husband and I arrived early and were just going to ask if it was possible with the caveat it was a special birthday dinner (obviously no worries if they can't but just was wanting to give context if there was any chance for wiggle room). The host was so rude and just scoffed at me and said "uh no.. it's a Saturday night, what do you expect?" Not even an I'm so sorry we really can't accommodate or happy birthday or anything. My friend and I were sat at the bar and I asked nicely if it was possible for us to get a table and was met with more attitude and a general air of "you should just be lucky to be here". The bar tender who was also our waiter was really nice and genuinely the reason for not giving one star. He was kind and gave me a pane cotta to go for my birthday which was so sweet and really appreciated! I got the pasta with shaved truffle which had 0 truffle taste to it at all which was disappointing. Overall fairly bland pasta though fresh. Great wine selection and the bruschetta was delicious. I tried the pappardelle here and the pasta was perfectly al dente. I ordered an Aperol spritz and my partner ordered the elderflower spritz. The elderflower was probably my favorite out of the two. The place was super packed on a Friday evening so make sure you make reservations. I wish the spot was a little bigger since the small space can make you feel a bit claustrophobic. This is my fourth stop on the gluten challenge tour. Parking is street and paid so it's variable depending on time of day. When we walked in they seemed to not understand service dog rules. We were informed that they're "not allowed" to ask if it's a service dog. I told them actually, you should be asking me at minimum if he's a service dog. You can also ask me what task he is trained to perform. The staff seemed confused and uneducated about the two questions. That makes me afraid that they'd let in pets because they're not screening each animal that comes in. Service was very enthusiastic and friendly. I ordered a pesto/basil pasta dish. The filling was so creamy and pesto-y, it was outrageously good. The food came quickly. The tiramisu was disappointing Compared to how fantastic my main was. The cake layers were thin and dense, not at all tasting of coffee, and the mascarpone to cake ratio was just way off. It was kinda just mascarpone in a cup. The table bread is semifreddis. It arrived to the table cold. The bread is good of course--semifreddis--but I just wish it had been at least room temp. The olive oil it came with for dipping had a strong "bite" to it that made my throat burn. I'm told this means it's high quality extra virgin olive oil so this is a personal taste kind of thing. Had lunch in this little unassuming Italian bistro on College Avenue. Around 11 am, there were plenty of seats. Even counter space where you can see the chefs in action. We ordered Pappardelle $19, a flat pasta with mushrooms in a beef reduction sauce. The pasta was Al Dente with a nice chew and the mushrooms and sauce were so flavorful. We also ordered the Agnolotti Di Lidia $18.95, looks like tortellini stuffed with beef shank, proscuitto, pork and sausage in a beef reduction sauce. Both were incredibly delicious plates and the pasta looks like it may be made in house. Water and bread with olive oil were also served. Overall, a delicious lunch. Wow! We really enjoyed our experience last night. It was our first time at Belotti. A good friend got us a gift card, which felt like a good reason to make our way to the restaurant finally. My husband and I arrived around 6pm with no reservation. They told us it would be about 30 mins and they'd text. When it had been about 45 minutes, we headed over. While we didn't get a text, they did seat us outside around the corner within a couple of minutes. It was a beautiful, sunny evening and they have outdoor heaters. The olive oil and bread are so good! Our friend recommended the stuffed beef shank pasta, the duck pasta, and the burrata pasta. Instead of ordering apps, we went ahead with the three pastas: Agnolotti Di Lidia, Bigolli Al Sugo D'Anatra, and Spaghetti Pomodoro E Burrata. We also got a bottle of wine. Definitely make a reservation if you can. We managed to snag a Sat lunch reservation for 4 people the night before and it looked like a lot of people coming in had reservations. Been wanting to try this place and finally managed to snag a reservation for two. It's definitely tough to get a table here, especially for larger groups like four, since the restaurant is pretty tiny -- both indoors and outdoors -- and it's a very popular neighborhood spot. They started us off with complimentary bread, which was a nice touch. We were craving pasta, so we ordered two dishes: the CASONCELLI BERGAMASCHI and the TAGLIATELLE AL CINGHIALE. Both were delicious, though I personally liked the casoncelli a bit more. They also have an extensive pasta selection to choose from. We also ordered the broccoli picanti, which turned out to be a heavier vegetable dish than we expected because of the rich béchamel sauce. The service was friendly, but you could definitely feel that they were trying to turn tables quickly and keep things moving. If you have a gluten-free allergy, they have various options. Many of their sauces and sugos are made without dairy as well. They have a nice outdoor seating area with space heaters in a little parklet. The food was fantastic. We ordered an arugula salad to share and it came out beautifully presented and already split for us. I finally went to Belotti! It's a pretty small space so we had to wait 3 weeks to secure a table for 4 for dinner on a Friday or weekend, so plan accordingly. We ordered a bunch of items to try since everything looked so good. Here's what we got: - Lattuga $16 - Agnolotti $19 - Casoncelli $19 - Pasta alla ligure $24 - Mushroom papperdelle $20 - Brasato $36 - Aeperol spritz $16 - Bunet $13 The standout dish for us was the pasta alla ligure. It's a vegetarian dish but had the most flavor out of everything we ordered. It's a filled pasta w silky, cheesy goodness inside. The green beans and other toppings were bright, refreshing and added great texture to the pasta. We also really enjoyed the agnolotti which was filled with flavorful meat. Belotti has been a must-try on my list with my best friend! Since we were in the area, we chose to eat here. From the high praise and detailed menu, we were intrigued. Though at the end, we left yearning for more. We arrived on Christmas Eve without reservations. Reservations are recommended, but we're grateful we got to sit at their outdoor patio. They have indoor seating in their quaint, cozy, yet elevated restaurant space. Around the corner, they have a heated parklet. The service was terrific. Our server was all smiles, energetic, and so friendly! We were tended to in the best way. Now for the food, my best friend and I both got pasta. I chose the Bigoli Al Sugo D'anatra, and she got the Tagilatelle Al Cinghiale. Both of us noticed our pasta was cold, not warm. It was cooked al dente, but definitely on the firmer side rather than chewy. The duck itself was excellent, tender, and savory. I had a bite of my friend's dish, which was both sweet and delicious. I walked up because I was in the area and wanted to eat here because my brother and his family have been saying so many good things about this place. I was seated at the bar (usually my favorite spots at restaurants) relatively quickly. I got a delicious Negroni to start and ordered the agnolotti de lidia. I went here with my husband and 2 kids. The food was spectacular and it came out super fast. I especially appreciate the portions for kids being the same as an adult but priced for families. The server was nice and quick about everything. Drinks came out immediately. The 1 star off is due to the host setup. I've seen this in other reviews too and so this seems to be a trend. There was only 1 host when we arrived and people lining up outside. The host was very busy setting up tables and would not acknowledge the line or even say "I'm so sorry I will be right with you". Then I decided to walk in the restaurant to get someone's attention. No one cared. They are busy. I think having a dedicated greeter would do wonders for this restaurant. I know it would cost another salary but people were confused waiting. Then the host tells us to walk around the corner and meet her over there. Really? We have never been to this restaurant. It would be nice if someone actually sat us down. We walked over and didn't know where to go. Someone else had sat at our table I guess. But it took several minutes for the host to figure this out. We were just standing outside waiting for someone to tell us where to go. I think having an additional host would do wonders. My wife and I had a double date at Belotti on a Friday evening and the place was packed. You might be able to pull off a walk-in if you're just dining as a couple, but if you're coming as a larger party, you'll definitely want to make a reservation at least a week ahead of time. We booked our reservation about three days in advance, so we could only find a 7:00 p.m. slot for a table on the sidewalk patio. Fortunately, despite evening temperatures in the mid-50s, the heat lamp next to our table provided more than enough warmth for us to feel comfortable during the entirety of our meal. Our party started the meal by sharing a salad and a piece of bruschetta per person, which is priced per piece at $4.95. The grilled bread is topped with an abundance of tomatoes and the creamy burrata atop is delicious. For a group of 4, if you order two salads, the kitchen can portion out the salad so everyone gets their own plate. While tempting, ultimately, we decided to forego this option in order to save our appetite for our entrees and dessert. While we waited for our mains to arrive, complementary table bread was brought over with olive oil -- refilled for free if you manage to finish it all. I would recommend holding off on having too much bread and olive oil initially, because you'll certainly want to use the bread later on to sop up all the delicious sauce in the pasta dishes. The pasta menu can feel overwhelming but if you're stuck, I would highly recommend trying out one of their stuffed pastas. My favorite stuffed pasta, which I've gotten a handfull o times at Belotti's other location, is the casoncelli Bergamaschi: "Bergamo style stuffed pasta with beef, prosciutto, pork shoulder, Grana Padano cheese, smoked pancetta, butter, and sage." Another stuffed pasta I really enjoy is the Agnolotti di Lidia: "Traditional Piedmontese style stuffed pasta with beef shank, flat iron, pork loin, sausage, escarole, spinach, Grana, and beef reduction." Pastas are cooked to a perfect al dente -- as one would come to expect from a place that specializes in homemade pastas. Stuffed pastas are filled generously, and the pasta dough is rolled out to just the right thickness. Fillings are well-seasoned and can confidently stand on their own even without the additional sauce. Asides from the pasta, we also all shared a single order of the "Verdure Limone e scalogno": Swiss chard, kale, shallots, spinach, and lemon. The side is very rich tasting and actually reminded me of a creamed spinach. Because we were visiting to celebrate a birthday, the staff at Belotti surprised us with a complementary panna cotta, adorned with a birthday candle. We really appreciated this nice gesture. In addition to the panna cotta, our party also shared the fragolotti, a dessert pasta. It definitely sounded a bit strange on the menu, but I cannot recommend it enough. The strawberry filled chocolate Agnolotti is not overly sweet nor decadent and pairs perfectly with the fresh strawberries, chocolate crumbles, and crème anglaise. I cannot say enough good things about Belotti. Even when the check arrived, I was shocked that the default tip option selected was "No Tip," with 18% being the highest pre-calculated tip option. Far too many restaurants these days are pre-selecting the highest tip option on their mobile payment system -- offering percentages like 18%, 20% and sometimes even 25%. If you're looking for a wonderful place for a night out, I would highly recommend Belotti. read more

Definitely get the pappardelle -- it is AMAZING!!! The sauce is soooo tasty... rich and creamy with mushrooms, parsley, and grana padano cheese blended into every bite. Very, very good!!! The long, wide pasta is perfect for soaking up all that delicious sauce, making each bite absolutely satisfying. We also ordered the Tagliolini Burro e Acciughe. The thin egg pasta paired beautifully with the anchovies, beef reduction, and grana padano. Every bite was buttery! The burrata salad was also good. It came with organic spring mix, celery, cherry tomatoes, creamy burrata cheese, crunchy crostini, and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar that tied everything together perfectly. As I sat I noticed an unpleasant smell, kind of like rancid grease. I think if they power washed the sidewalk that would help. I had the: Insalata Burrata: beautiful presentation, unfortunately it had a hair in it. They took it back and then took long to bring another one out. The salad was delicious! Loved the peaches in it and the burrata was good as well. Agnolotti Di Lidia: this was wonderful. The oxtail flavor and the pasta was just perfection! Highly recommend. Panna Cotta: loved it! Very smooth almost like a silky pudding texture. The mint garnish did have some mud/dirt. But we removed it. Did inform the server and they comped the dessert. Overall the quality of the food is very high but they do need to fix some things that detract from me giving them a 5 star. Actually found Belotti on the Resy site and crossed referenced it with Yelp. It had great reviews on both sites. Although our original plan to dine in fell through, we were excited to switch to takeout and finally try the highly-rated restaurant. For an Italian restaurant they have quite a few vegetarian dishes and several that can be made vegetarian. That's a big plus! We went with the following dishes: -mGnocci with a creamy tomato sauce instead of the default six meats Bolognese sauce - 2 PAPPARDELLE AI FUNGHI - one vegetarian style without the beef reduction and another as-is. Both were delicious and is one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a long time. The one with the beef reduction did have a bit more umami to it. - SCARPINÒCC DE PARR - This was equally as good as the pappardelle with wonderful flavor and generous amount given. While the food took a bit longer than anticipated, it was absolutely worth the wait. I appreciate the attentive service I received at the bar; the hosts and bartender made sure I was comfortable, even offering water multiple times during the roughly 15-minute wait. The food was ready approximately 45 minutes after placing the order on the phone. The restaurant is small inside but offers ample seating, including a few tables out on the sidewalk. I arrived around 5:30 PM on a Saturday, and it filled up quickly with what appeared to be many repeat customers who clearly knew the staff. We started with splitting the beautiful LATTUGA Salad with living butter lettuce and toasted pine nuts, a lovely lemon dressing and side sprinkled with bits of flowers. We came here to celebrate my Nonni's 90th birthday. Overall, the food was a mix of good and just okay, but the experience didn't fully meet expectations for a special occasion. The shredded beef over polenta was good, though the portion felt small and I would've liked more polenta. The gnocchi in bolognese was also very good. The ravioli with prosciutto was okay, but unfortunately there was a hair in a ravioli. The staff did apologize, replaced it, and offered a complimentary dessert, which we appreciated. The chocolate ravioli with strawberries didn't quite live up to expectations, but the tiramisu was good. Food was excellent. Wonderful cocktails. Service was a little slow but they were very busy. Otherwise everything else was wonderful.

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in the East Bay, and is one of my go-to places to bring out-of-town guests to show them what Oakland has to offer. Although I've never had a bad dish here, the stars of the show are clearly the variety of stuffed pastas. The seating is a little tight, but still comfortable and the ambiance is energetic without being frenetic or overwhelming. The service is friendly and professional without being stuffy. Beware and a warning to all. Please check your receipt with your credit card statement. Unfortunately, the staff is very dishonest and gave themselves additional $$ for tips. We called the restaurant, left a voicemail message to have the manager return our call so that we can clarify and clear this issue. Nothing. No calls. Apparently, they are condoning this type of behavior. We won't be patronizing a restaurant that is dishonest and unprofessional no matter how good the dishes are. read more
