After being loyal customers of Cafe Di Fiore for several years, I feel compelled to share how disappointed we have become with the quality of their takeout food and, even more importantly, with how customer complaints are handled. Over time, we have repeatedly noticed that the quality of the food served for takeout is significantly inferior to what is served in the restaurant. It often feels as though takeout customers are receiving food that would never be served to diners sitting at a table. Today's experience was the final straw. The tortillas that came with our meal were hard and stale. My Tampiqueña was not a Tampiqueña at all--it was an old, tough piece of steak full of gristle and connective tissue. The quality was frankly unacceptable, especially considering the prices charged. What was even more disappointing was the response from management. When I called to explain the issue, I expected at least an apology or some willingness to listen. Instead, the manager immediately insisted that I was wrong and repeatedly told me that I needed to drive back to the restaurant and show them the food. There was no apology, no concern for the customer experience, and no attempt to make things right. The underlying message seemed to be that they simply did not believe me. What kind of establishment treats long-time customers this way? After years of supporting this restaurant, I found it shocking that a legitimate complaint was met with denial rather than professionalism. Good restaurants make mistakes from time to time. Great restaurants own those mistakes and take care of their customers. Unfortunately, Cafe Di Fiore chose neither. Unless there is a significant improvement in both food quality and customer service, we will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

I do not appreciate the deceiving practices of the establishment. When I ordered the Gorditas of Chicharrón Prensado from the menu, I was served only two gorditas. According to the menu description the plate is composed of three gorditas. Also, when I asked the server how come the dish had only two she just replied that's how the dish is served. I didn't make a big deal because the people I went with were having a good time. Also, when we had finished lunch, I noticed the coffee cup of the person (male) seated in front of me had a lipstick mark. Disgusting! The ambiance seems attractive, but once you start paying attention to detail you will notice the restaurant is cutting corners to maximize profits. Honestly, I didn't want to go this time because the first time I visited and asked for a coffee refill they charged me for another cup. According to the waiter they charged for the extra cup because I had ordered an Americano coffee instead of a house coffee. So I sucked it up thinking maybe that's a restaurant policy I overlooked. Going back to my second and last visit, there was not soda/ice replenishment service. 2/4 people I went with liked their dish. The third person and I were disappointed. I really like this place, I didn't in the past but now it has become one of my favorites. The environment is calm, just don't sit close to the bathroom, the opening and closing of the door can become annoying. They have a very extensive menu and everything I have ordered has authentic Mexican flavors. We have enjoyed tacos, chilaquiles, flautas, enchiladas, etc. I would definitely recommend this place and will definitely keep going back. One of the best enfrijoladas I've had!! I would highly recommend these if you come. Otherwise, I got the horchata as well and it's pretty standard. This is the rare family owned restaurant in The Woodlands that has continuously improved over the years. It has excellent fresh Mexican and some Tex Mex food and many other interesting options. Had reservations through Open Door, however did not need them as the restaurant had plenty of open tables. Settled on a booth but found that it was not clean - had food remnants from the previous diners. The pleasant young man who received us at the door proceeded to clean the table and the booth seats. Ordered Chips and Queso with Beef, Prosecco and An Old Fashioned, all of which arrived promptly. The Queso was runny and lacked taste. Food consisting of Cochinita Pibil Taco with Habanero Sauce (we had eaten the original in Rivera Maya - fantastic Mayan cuisine), Chicken Fajitas Mexicana, and Chicken Enchilada with Mole Sauce, also arrived in quick order and was tasty - the Mole Sauce was rich ahd choclatey. With an 18% tip, the tab came to $112 for three persons. Quite expensive, given that the food was nothing extraordinary; the Cochinita particularly so as the dish consisted of only three small tacos - perhaps suitable as an appetizer. Since Cafe di Fiore re-decorated many parts of it, it looks even more beautiful than it was before. The colors are pleasing. The service was good and the food has a varied menu of what looks like mexican cuisine with also some items of pasta dishes. For some reason or another the restaurant serves mexican and italian cuisine, but if you want good atmosphere and good food at a reasonable price, I would recommend it. read more

Caffé di Fiore is a fantastic find. It is tucked away at Woodlands parkway and fm2978. This is not typical Tex-Mex fare. If you want that Gringos is around the corner. The service is great, not hurried but very informative. The restaurant was not noisy like most Tex-Mex restaurants are. Everyone was dressed accordingly, no tee shirts and shorts. The clientele was mostly professional Hispanic speaking, so you know this isn't your typical Mexican restaurant. The food was more authentic Mexican. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We had queso fundido (melted cheese with chorizo), Chicharron de Salsa Verde (pork rinds with green sauce), Fajitas Problanas (beef with charred problanas peppers) and Tres Leches. First time visiting based on reviews, having had my fair share of Mexican food from across the country, the food here was less than average. We order, enchiladas, machaca, and a chicken quesadilla. The enchiladas were bland (we wonder if the use for spices were lacking in the kitchen). The machaca, was also disappointing, the beef was tough and the eggs over cooked again no flavor whatsoever and the refry beans bland as well. The only plate that was decent was the chicken quesadilla. Overall, we were disappointed with the food, however, the service from our waitress was good, very attentive she mentioned that the restaurant has new owners and that might explain the lack of flavor in the food.
