This place is the real deal. My husband saw this place on instagram and needed to try it. I don't like shrimp salad and cafe di Roma changed my mind. I will be ordering this sandwich for the rest of my life. I hate mayo and anything I can taste mayo in. This was more like an old bay sauce. You also great what felt like a pound of shrimp on the sandwich. It was life altering. My children all took down the chocolate top cookies like it's their job. I was visiting family and staying in Catonsville, and Cafe di Roma saved my bacon! It is open great hours, and several days I got both lunch and dinner there (and a latte!). Delicious shrimp salad, black bottom cupcakes, deviled eggs (limit 5 per customer), and they make a mean BLT with turkey bacon, hooray! For like $8. Maybe $7. The service was mostly super friendly. They do make things to order so be prepared to wait- or call in your order (give them like 20 minutes). If I were in town longer, I'd try the smoothies...they sound great! read more

I am highly impressed with the level of service and food quality at this Caffe. The place has a divvy feel to it. I loved the quirky decor and the humous conversation between the cook and the man in front. They were so friendly and in sync, I could not tell if they were co-owners. I kept it simple: classic breakfast and a more "trendy" beverage. Nailed both. At any other place, I would've paid $6 for the spiced chai tea close to $20 for the breakfast. Here. My son has been talking about going to this little Cafe for weeks so we went last Sunday to try the world famous shrimp salad. We ordered at the counter and had three shrimp salad sandwiches, two cups of chicken noodle and one bowl of crab soup. We also had three real ice teas. Here is my opinion on our choices. The crab soup was good, filled with veggies, but lacking pieces of crab meat. The chicken noodle soup was good but it had weird wide pasta noodles which made the soup not tasty. I prefer regular egg noodles in my soup. The best choices were those jumbo shrimp salad sandwiches. The shrimp were falling out of the bread as we ate the sandwich and we needed forks to pick up those pieces. Highly recommend those sandwiches as a number one choice. Craving a shrimp salad sandwich at 7pm on a Friday night. I check and the Caffe is open til 8. Found a parking spot right out front. No one in line ahead of me, things are definitely going my way. The man in front of me got his order, and it was a one pound cup of shrimp salad served with a fork. I asked the price of the shrimp salad sandwich, $16.25, and the price of a pound of shrimp salad, $17.00. Who needs bread? I ordered at the counter, and it was ready in 7 minutes, as they had tables outside they were also serving. Super quick service on a Friday night, and the staff were so nice! I made two generous sandwiches out of that pound of shrimp salad when I got home! This shrimp salad is the real deal. Delicious, spiced perfectly, with BIG shrimp. The cream of crab soup was delicious too, and a cup was a bargain at $6.25. Next time I'll have to try the MD crab soup. The menu had so many tempting items! A go-to for breakfast, lunch, and coffee. I live and work in the area, and find myself in there multiple times per month. I've never had a bad experience, and I've been going for over a decade. The food is consistent and very reasonably priced. Where else can you get a BLT, chips, pickle, and large iced tea for less than $10? Just a heads up - they are often VERY busy. For good reason! They're awesome. But be prepared to wait. It's a small place, so it can get cramped during meal times. But it's so worth the wait, and the people who work there are fantastic. Honestly if zero stars existed this would get that. Potentially the worst customer service I have ever encountered. We went here on Mother's Day and it being a local spot was pretty crowded and we walked there. We entered and placed our order for some reason only sizes for lates were large and xl but you could get a medium vanilla chai so I think there trying you to buy bigger sizes but we orders pancakes and sat outside. About 20 minutes went by which was expected and we went into the shop and asked if they were ready she pointed to two pancakes on the griddle and said be out in a minute. Another 15 minutes went by and we back in her response was do you want to buy me a new griddle and we left and ended up getting a refund for the pancakes after one of the workers kept on repeating we did we did inferring they refunded us probably never going again judgement was insane. read more

An average small cafe experience. Caffe di Roma is a great place to start your day if you're a local. Everything you'd expect at a diner you'll find here: coffee, bagels, breakfast sandwiches. The interior is a bit shabby, but in a chaotic charming way with daily newspapers at an arms reach for reading and small activities for kids. I got myself a cup of coffee and the breakfast burger. The coffee was standard, a bit too hot for my liking, but serviceable for my daily caffeine intake. The breakfast burger, was extremely underwhelming. It was a well done patty topped with cheddar cheese, scrambled eggs, and hash brown potatoes. Everything was made on a griddle that gave it a greasy bacon flavor which was appreciated, but the abundance of over grilled food left the burger very dry. If the eggs were sunny side and runny, they would have added some much needed moisture to the burger. I ended up drowning my burger in hot sauce to give some flavor boosters and added moisture. Prices and services are both well done. If you are nearby and need your morning fix, Caffe di Roma is a nice start for your day. read more

It's no surprise that we love our new hometown of Catonsville and we try to do as much as we can to be supportive....and of course at this moment in time, it finds many of our local businesses to us just trying to survive during the Covid problems. We are also blessed at the moment to have jobs, so we try to do what we can. We have been to Caffe di Roma for lunch a few times over the few years we have been here and had always enjoyed it, so it was no surprise when I saw them on Facebook and was thrilled they were offering *Shannon's Weekend Survival Kit*. Many businesses are coming up with clever little ideas to increase their income. Caffe de Roma came up with a choice of several soups, shrimp or chicken salad, 4 slices of cake, 4 bags of chips, a loaf of bread, a dozen eggs, lettuce and tomato. Went to pick it up at their lovely little shop (so cute and I cannot WAIT to be able to sit outside with a latte in the future!) and I have to say I really hope this might be something that they think of offering in the future. While my hubby and I are not really homebodies....we truly enjoy dining out, for the moment, it's been so enjoyable on the weekend to have cocktails and different food we have purchased for carry out! We selected the shrimp salad and chicken noodle soup. I picked it up after my workday and it was all ready in this lovely little basket. It was nicely arranged and the gentleman gave it to me and while we are all wearing masks, he was quite happy and I could see the smile in his eyes! Everything was quite delicious and we have a dinner and a lunch . Just a nice change from getting an evening pizza and for some reason the basket of food seemed thoughtful and made me feel so special. A good deal. The food and drink is good, but what's up with the customer service? Every time we order I feel as though I'm inconveniencing the young woman at the front. She huffs and puffs. Fairly certain she has lied about being out of stock about certain items when she just didn't want to make them. I don't eat in at the cafe anymore because I just don't want to hear the staff whine. I just feel better giving my money to a business that greets me with enthusiasm. I know food service is a hard job, but you kinda just have to suck it up. Edit: Business owner reached out. We decided to stop by for sandwiches based on the reviews. Mistake, maybe it's better for regulars. 40 minutes for wraps is too long. I could have had a 3 course meal in the time I waited. And my wait wasn't the longest, I saw 2 women wait for shrimp salad wraps that languished on the counter for at least 15 minutes. Not a lot of work being done by the four people staffing the place, it's a shame- decent location and a cute set up going to waste.
