I don't know why this place doesn't have great reviews because we had a wonderful experience! It is in a beautiful area for people-watching, right near all the Louvre & the Siene river. We got the basic ham & butter sandwich, which is a classic in Paris. It was delicious! My favorite was the egg with mayonnaise appetizer (Oefs Mayonnaise). It comes on top of a salad and was delicious! Thierry what was our server and he was amazing! So friendly and kind. He needs a raise! His smile brings people into the restaurant. Worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. Only went there because there was a special promotion listed online. Confirmed the promotion with our server, but when the check came everything was full price. When we brought this to the attention of the server, manager, and others they were extremely rude and told us we were lying and there was no such thing. The quality of food seemed as tho it was left out for hours. I couldn't even bite the crust of my 19€ overpriced quiche. A 8.50€ cappuccino (menu said 7.50€ so another false advertisement) was also not enjoyable. Even if the website was faulty about the promotion, our server who very clearly seemed to understand what we were saying about the promotion, confirmed it from the beginning. The rudeness of the employees, quality of food, and outrageous prices was the worst I have ever seen after working in the restaurant industry myself. Please save your time and money. You couldn't pay me to go back here. read more

This place is visibly slow for being located next to so many hotels, which should've been an indicator that it isn't the best around these parts. We ordered the three cheese fondue to split among three people and were told that they will only prepare fondue in orders of two. Weird flex, but okay, we paid it because we wanted fondue. The bread was spongy, and not good (you're in France how can you mess up bread???) and the fondue was flavorless and just kind of meh (you're in France how can you mess up cheese???). We also ordered dessert because we are heathens who eat cheese and cake as a meal, and both the apple tart and chocolate cake were DELICIOUS. Delightful experience. The staff was amazing and made us feel like kings while we were dining here. We had the fondue and a nice bottle of wine, it was absolutely delicious. Had to see what the remaining portion of Norte Dame looked like so walked over to that neighborhood. Sad! Needed a respite without a lot of tourists in the midst of high so stopped here. There was only one table occupied, it was a little dark and very quiet. The menu of the day had my favorite entrée, l'Oeuf Mayo. I chose the leg of lamb for my plat. This was quite tender and the gravy was very tasty. No dessert was ordered. I would go back and order from the regular menu as there seemed to be a good variety of offerings. read more

Great deal for the price. Prixe menu which comes out to be 18 euros per person (starter - main - dessert). I got the escargot (with pesto sauce), beef bourguignon and creme brulee. Escargot was okay, it's your typical escargot dish. I thought my snails would be bigger but not really. It's six snails but I did enjoy the pesto a lot. Bread was served on the side and I dipped my bread in the pesto sauce. Although some people really enjoyed the beef bourguignon, I found it a little bit too salty for me. It seems like a typical beef type of stew dish so I didn't really care for it. It only had 3 medium size chunks of beef with some potatoes and one carrot in it. I feel like I can make a similar dish. There were a lot of other people in the restaurant and I could overhear that they LOVE the beef bourguignon and they wanted the recipe, but I don't think it's to die for honestly. The creme brulee wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing either, it was okay. I noticed when we left there were only tourists - American tourists like myself so I am not sure if this is a tourist trap? I think the food was mediocre overall so I am not sure if I'll recommend this place. There's probably better food around but if you wanted to check it out, go for it. read more

We ask for cocktail recommendations and our sever didn't speak English so he invited another gentleman who is absolutely rude!! Went to eat here for dinner with the wife after visiting the notre Dame. We are both canadians so this seemed okay when we passed by. They had a menu for €17 for 3 courses which drew us in. The food was actually just alright, nothing fancy. Appetizers: Go for the escargot! This was probably the best dish we ordered. Juicy, full of flavour and just pure French delicacy. It comes in a plate of 6 pieces. I had the mussels in white wine which was great too. Comes in a big bowl, probably 15 of them in there. Mains: Mediocre... She had the duck which was a bit dry. I had the steak, which I asked to cook to rare. It was but the meat was very chewy, not a good cut at all. It was not tender and rather to cut, let alone bite or eat. I wouldn't recommend it. Desserts: Creme Brulee, large portion. Good to be honest but a bit too sweet for me. I had the Chocolate ice cream, which was actually made with dark chocolate so I enjoyed that. Had a kronenbourg beer on the side for €5.5 Overall, it was just alright. Good to fill the stomach. Nothing to brag about. The only thing I'll say is that it was definitely worth the fixe price of €17 for 3 course meal. read more

Their fixed price menu was great! For 16.50 euro you got an appetizer, main course, and desert. I had mussels with a white wine sauce, duck with potatoes and a salad, and fruit salad for desert. I'd recommend the mussels & duck. I'm visiting Paris with my husband & his parents. We all ordered off the fixed price menu and were happy with our meals. They also are friendly to tourists, without trying to price gouge you, which is appreciated. read more

This was a neat place - for 16.90 euro you get a 3 course meal. We found it walking around our hotel's neighborhood, and decided to give it a try. First off, the French don't focus on steak as much as other countries do - you don't get your selection of sirloin, filet, etc. So, for my course, I ordered the beefsteak, which came smothered in a sauce. The steak was cooked properly, and the sauce wasn't too much of a distraction. My wife had their seafood selection, which she enjoyed. The wine list was short, but contained several good options. We settled on a St. Emilion, which was great for the price point - I'd normally expect to see this sell in a restaurant for 35 euros, while they sold it close to the price point of 27.50 euro. All in all, good service, good food, a polite staff, and good wine. How could you go wrong? read more

My wife made visit to Paris June 2019. Staying at the Citadine St Germain des Pres. Getting hungry from the trip and walking the Left Bank we look a place to eat. First choice, an Irish Bar, Corcoran's : TOO LOUD and comedy night in Francais! Half block away is the Cafe des Arts, the waiter invited us in. Ordered fixed price menu 17.90 Eur. Appetizer, main and desert. We always order the Onion soup when in a French restaurant, this was good. Food good, waiter friendly and open. Small place but I would definitely go back. My husband & I stumbled upon Cafe des Arts by accident as we were looking for a place to have lunch while in Paris last November. We ultimately chose this restaurant because of the menu, interior and simply because of how busy it was! We each opted for the pre fixe menu. For my starter I had the french onion soup and he had the escargot. For our entrees, I got the beef bourguignon and he had the lamb. For our dessert, I got the creme caramel and he got the fruit salad. I believe the meal came out to 15 euros per person which is way affordable considering you get 3 dishes. The restaurant is small but was packed even at 1:30pm for our late lunch. Everything was absolutely delicious and we really enjoyed our meal. We still talk about it to this day! We will be returning to Paris this Fall and if we have the opportunity, will definitely return to Cafe des Arts. read more

My wife and I went here for dinner with a friend and it was the worst dinning experience we have ever had. We ordered one of the Cheese Fondues to split. After waiting for over 15 minutes for our food, we got three plates with a few potatoes, one slice of salami, and about 5 pieces of lettuce; as well as, a basket of bread chunks. The cheese bowl was placed on the table over a sterno fire. The cheese tasted like it was rottten and the bread like it had been baked 3 days ago. After barely touching our food because it was so awful, we decided to get our check and leave. The waiter tried to charge us for 3 separate orders when we only ordered one to split for the three of us. We clearly specified with the waiter that we only wanted one order to split, as we were only wanting a snack. The waiter got defensive and began to argue with his. He was very rude and not welcoming to guests at all. I guess we should have stuck to the rule of thumb about how many people are eating at a restaurant as an indicator if it is any good. For having such a great location, it is a horrible restaurant with nasty food and even worse service. Save yourself form this horrible tourist trap. French translation: Ma femme et moi sommes allés là-bas pour dîner avec un ami et c'était la pire expérience à manger que nous ayons jamais eue. Nous avons commandé l'une des fondues au fromage à diviser. Après avoir attendu plus de 15 minutes pour notre nourriture, nous avons eu trois assiettes avec quelques pommes de terre, une tranche de salami et environ 5 morceaux de laitue; ainsi que, un panier de morceaux de pain. Le bol de fromage a été placé sur la table sur un feu de sterno. Le fromage avait l'air d'être rottten et le pain comme il avait été cuit il y a 3 jours. Après avoir à peine touché notre nourriture car c'était horrible, nous avons décidé de prendre notre chèque et partir. Le serveur a essayé de nous faire payer pour 3 commandes séparées quand nous avons seulement commandé un à nous séparer pour nous trois. Nous avons clairement spécifié avec le serveur que nous voulions seulement une commande à diviser, car nous voulions seulement un casse-croûte. Le serveur s'est défensif et a commencé à se disputer avec le sien. Il était très désagréable et pas accueillant du tout. Je suppose que nous devrions avoir respecté la règle du nombre de personnes qui mangent dans un restaurant comme indicateur si c'est bon. I have eaten at thousands of restaurants and this one is in the top three. Classic French food on a prix fixee menu and well below the Main Street fare prices. We had escargot, mussels, French onion soup, steak au poivre, chicken curry, two creme brûlée, wine and cafe au lait and cost less than 70 euros for two. A poor breakfast of croissants and crepes with coffee is over 30 euros on the main streets. The food was well prepared, on time and the service perfect. We were there at 8:30pm thru 10pm. Wholeheartedly recommended if you want well prepared traditional French food. read more

Just had a lovely dinner at Cafe Des Arts. Was able to get a very cozy table for just the two of us near a window. We tried the 12 Euro Menu. Can you believe it? We had French onion soup & smoked salmon salad as an appetizer (entree), lamb with garlic sauce & steak au poivre. Both these "plats" were accompanied by the most delicious sautéed potatoes. I don't know what they did to them but they were incredibly good. The steak and lamb were cooked perfectly. In addition a small salad garnished the dishes. We had chocolate mousse and tarte pommes for dessert. The mousse was plentiful and delicious, the tarte pommes was a little thin and small. But what do you want for 12 Euros? Are you kidding me??? The service was warm and welcoming. By the time we left, the place was packed... and we are not surprised. read more

Seemed like one or two euros less than places just one street from the Seine. Extremely friendly and welcomng staff. Nice ambience yet a bit less hectic as this is a bit further away from the center of the foot traffic. Fondue was excellent. Had an escargot starter. Red wine i had wasn't the greatest but it was the most inexpensive house wine. I would definitely seek this place out and try another dish on another visit next time. read more

My family of 5 dined here tonight & it truly has to be the worst meal we've ever had. We each had a different meal....all terrible. The spaghetti tasted like it came out of an expired can. The pepper & blue cheese sauces for the steaks were inedible. To top it off, the staff could not have been less helpful. We tried our best to speak French, and they didn't even TRY to help. We couldn't have felt less welcome. It was like they were doing us a favor serving us this garbage. So disappointing for our last dinner in Paris....DON'T waste your time!!! read more

They usually have two fixed menu -one at 12 euro and the other at 16 for a 3 course meal. We went for the 16 euro so we could get some snail, but they didn't taste much. I had the duck confit with potato as the main dish, wich was ok, but nothing special. My husband had the trout wich was swimming in a cream sauce, so that took away from the trout itself. The restaurant is nice and the service was good, but overall experience just average. read more

When a group of 6 Americans walk into any restaurant in Paris, you can be sure to expect a certain degree of unpleasantness. This, however, was of an entirely different level. We were put at a table right by the door, and the manager would not stop hovering over us while we ate. Many of us ordered prix fixed meals including a starter, a main course, and a desert. One friend ordered steak which was completely overcooked. Another ordered boeuf bourguignon which was bland, and two of us had pasta which was cold and contained sauce from a can. The plates came out at bizarre times, so that some of us were starting desert while others hadn't even finished there appetizer. We ordered a bottle of wine at the start of the meal which didn't come until half of everyone had finished their main courses. Lastly, the waitstaff had obnoxious attitudes and would often ignore us - until it was time to pay the bill, during which they decided to hover over us while we frantically tried to sort out who owed what. I took 2 beers at a bar down the street to get over this meal. I certainly won't be returning. read more
