Atmosphere: 5 The restaurant is super cute and had a nice view of the street. Their bathroom is downstairs and were basically toilet rooms with the sink outside. We were seated in a two person booth and it was cozy there. I think anywhere else would be a little chilly. The menu has both French and English on it! Service: 5 The waiter was nice and he was attentive to what we were trying to order despite not speaking French. He knew some English too so that helped a ton! Food: 5 We ordered beef tartare, onion soup, and the mix cheese and meat charcuterie board. The beef tartare was very well seasoned and tasted so good. It came with fries that weren't very salted which was fine because it paired so nice with the beef tartare. The bread came with the board which had a nice mix of cheeses and meats. The onion soup was really nice. It didn't hit you with a strong flavor and smell of onions and the toasted baguette in the soup added a nice crunch. Hubs decided on this restaurant for dinner as the duck confit caught his attention. Upon our arrival, we were quickly greeted and seated. Our waiter was very friendly and took time to point out the specials and some items on the menu to us. Started with the melon and prosciutto salad starter to share. The melon was sweet and great pairing with the prosciutto. Also fresh mozzarella on top of the salad. Hubs and dad ordered the duck confit and both found it very flavorful. The meat was falling off the bones. I ordered the salmon tartare (Le Kyoto). At first glance it may seem like a small dish, but it was actually a pretty generous portion and filling. Sesame oil served on the side. Refreshing and not heavy. Daughter ordered the linguine. Didn't realize it was served with pesto. She has a nut allergy but learned this pesto was made nut free. Lots of pasta which she enjoyed. Based on our dishes, we decided to order a duck confit and melon salad for take away for mom and son. Packaged nicely. It took forever to be served here but we were not in a hurry this time. I ordered a lamb shank and some French Fries. The food was very good and might have been the best meal that I had on that two week trip to Europe. My colleagues also enjoyed their food as well. The service was slow but the food was very good. The location was very busy. My husband and I stopped in Le Franc Tireur late one evening on our first visit to Paris. We stopped in after seeing they served French Onion soup and truffle risotto. Unfortunately during our visit they no longer had the risotto on the menu, so instead we tried the escargot and the fish special of the day. Everything we ate was very tasty but what stood out most to us was the service! I regret not getting our servers name because he is top notch. He made us feel very comfortable with our extremely limited French and was very helpful with his recommendations. The food was outstanding. We started with an aperitif of a delicious Chambord Spritz and a glad of fresh Chardonnay. For an appetizer we each had a petit salad a crevettes, pamplemousse,et avocat. A salad with delicious cold shrimp, grapefruit and avocado. For an entree (Plat) I had the Filet de Bar which was a beautiful well seasoned grilled filet of sea bass with seasonal vegetables and a fresh salad, my partner had the beignet de crevette with a sauce. I thought for a while about this one, but was somewhere between a one and a three the whole time. After searching my soul a bit more, three was off the table. Here's why: Service was ok. My waiter was nice, although he clearly forgot my first course and after a while and asking me if I wanted something to start with, I reminded him of the escargot. He played it off as if it was just taking a while and in fairness, brought me some sliced meat since he realized what happened. No points deducted. Music would good. Everything was the right temperature. Definitely had flavor. I should have enjoyed it. A solid four rating. But wait. That all came crashing down when the little cute mouse ran by me. It definitely unnerved me. And then the fly that had been circling my table since I got in, or at least after I killed the other fly that was hanging out before it, started to really get to me. And I noticed that there were crumbs all over the booths in the area. It's worth mentioning that although it was a Friday night, the restaurant was empty, so there was no excuse for the mess. I saw all the before I ate. I strongly considered leaving but it was late, and this was the fourth place I tried to go to considering the waits at other local places. Whatever. After I ate, I was considering whether to get coffee and the mouse came by to say hi again. That was enough. So I walked to the door and asked for the check, noting quietly to the waiter that there was a mouse. He was not perturbed. Apparently, this is a major problem in France and it's unavoidable. There's nice everywhere and that's that. He was nice about it and had me pay the bill and that was that. No discounts, no real apology. Whatever. On our first night in Paris, the hotel strongly recommended this restaurant. It was very close by and traditional French. We had a really nice server (redhead) but everything else was not so nice. I ordered the lamb rib special with haricort vert. My mom started with a smoked salmon appetizer and roasted chicken for her meal. Her chicken came out boiled, not roasted...yuck. The lamb was overcooked as were the haricort vert. The bread was the best part of the meal, and we were not too thrilled with the high prices. We mentioned our disappointment to the hotel, and the reception agents acted surprised. Then we find out they never have eaten there; in fact, many were young and said they never ate at restaurants! I was in Paris for a couple of days in September 2018 and needed to find a place for a quick, late lunch prior to a meeting. I searched on Yelp and found this restaurant nearby and with good reviews. I walked into the restaurant and the bartender thankfully spoke English and told me that I could sit inside or outside. I decided to sit outside because it was a beautiful day. The outside is nice and is next to a pretty, old church (Paroisse Saint Ferdinand des Ternes). There were many items on the menu that looked great, and I ultimately went with the escargots for an appetizer and the duck confit for the main course. Both were *amazing* and I would definitely recommend them. Finally, the staff were extremely friendly and I appreciate that they weren't annoyed by my lack of French. We were seated promptly and were greeted with free water and bread. I ordered the vegetable wok and noodles, and my friends got some of the creamy risotto. I couldn't tell the exact genre of this restaurant, clearly. The wok was helpfully labeled vegan, and it was delicious. With a near perfect serving size and a lovely sauce, I underestimated their ability to craft a good Asian dish. I tried some of the risotto, and while swimming in cheese, it was so delicious but extremely heavy. The prices aren't too bad and service was alright. We ate here twice during the week I was in Paris and each time was delicious, reasonably priced, and open for food even outside of the normal meal times (which is great for tourists. We ate on average three courses for each meal that we had here. I really loved my hot chocolate, the duck, the escargot, and more! One night the special for dessert was bread based and everyone loved it so much! This is a classic cafe just off the high street within a stone's throw of the Arc de Triomphe. The fact that it's one street over from the main tourist haunts means you will pay less than you would at one of their competitors. Try your French, try your French, try your French. If you greet your server in French, even if you say something wrong by accident, they will treat you nicer. The orange juice is hand squeezed and very pulpy. Be careful not to swallow seeds. It is very tasty and is a generous size for a European serving. The croissant was pretty good and definitely affordable for a cafe. I loved the little bottle of confiture. I was also able to try their omelette which was delightful. They serve a large breakfast with a salad, which is very traditional. The plates arrived very quickly. The cheque also showed up right after we asked for it. Shockingly, this was the only restaurant the entire time we were in France that had live flowers on their tables. The single roses were a nice touch and I hope they continue it. The chairs are quite comfortable. If you want a larger meal later in the day, you'll want to go inside. The tables outside are a bit small for a large meal. This place was fantastically clean. The second a customer got up, our server cleaned away any trace. The bathrooms were inside and downstairs. They were a very sparkly welcome sight. Don't forget that the entire reason you eat at a cafe is to people watch and while away a bit of time. If you are an American that wants to get in and get out quick, opt for fast food instead. If you would like to see how locals get together and greet one another this is a good option. read more

This was the perfect place to end our euro trip! We splurged and went all out. Ordered a the mixed cutterie board, escargot and the tataki de bceuf (aka raw meat slices) everything was beyond delicious. First time trying the escargot, I was a bit nervous but the best way to describe the taste; it's just like garlic pasta with olive oil. We also ordered a wine bottle. We could barely finish it between 2 of us, so perhaps just order per glass. Some of the staff members speak English. If your looking for a place to dine-in for lunch or dinner I recommend this place, please don't think twice.
