I love the Cafe Frida Gallery. They have a great indoor and outdoor space for hanging out or working. They showcase local artists and their pieces. They are truly a community-based cafe that offers a lot to this neighborhood of Santa Rosa. My wife and I stopped by today for breakfast before taking a nice walk through Juilliard Park and the surrounding neighborhood. I had a delicious breakfast burrito with added bacon. The flavors and textures of this burrito made me smile when I took my first bite. It comes with some spicy salsa that provides a nice tang. My wife had the Chicken bahn mix sandwich and this was also delicious. The sriracha sauce is quite spicy and the spice gets intense after several bites, but it's so so good. We also had a salted Caramel mini muffin that I highly recommend as just a little bite for dessert. read more

Atmosphere is nice in the large outdoor seating area amongst the plants after you go through this walkway. Reminded me of cafes in New Orleans. The woman who took our order was also very nice. Their cappuccino was very good. Their brownie was meh, really sugary. They were out of what my sister wanted so she got the breakfast sandwich but asked for sourdough instead of English muffin. It didn't come with anything on the side. It came on 2 tiny slices that were toasted so dry I thought she would chip her tooth!!! I got the salmon / lox open face sandwich which came with a side salad. The salmon tasted nice and fresh. I'm not a fan of capers but I liked the picked onions on them. Waaay too much cream cheese was piled on and I had to scoop it off. None of this was a big deal. Again the sourdough were these 2 tiny slices, I'm guessing end of the loaf and they were toasted dry to the point that it was difficult to even bite into or chew!!! I know I should have sent them back to be fixed. It was hardly edible. But I felt bad wasting. And I'm not one to return food in general. But it wasn't a very pleasant experience. read more

I walked in to Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You" playing on the speakers -- already a good start. The music ranges from low-key to uptempo, setting an easy, unforced mood. The café is set back from the street behind another building, and the alleyway entrance greets you with a colorful mural. There's outdoor seating with heat lamps, but on a cold, damp day I opted for the warmth indoors. A few people were happily outside. Inside, the vibe is relaxed and welcoming. Seating is varied and well thought out: firm but comfortable bench seating, a long communal table, two-person tables, and a cozy corner nook. Six skylights and glass panel doors bring in generous natural light. There was a nice diversity of people during my visit, including a baby and folks with gray hair. While the space isn't explicitly LGBTQ+-branded, there was nothing that gave me pause -- it felt neutral and inclusive. The staff were friendly and helpful. I ordered a caramel latte with almond milk, which was excellent: strong espresso, well-balanced foam and steamed milk, and good overall ratios. It was a bit sweeter than my personal preference with the standard one ounce of syrup, but that's on me -- and it's no sweeter than most cafés. I also tried the warmed apple turnover; decent, but not a standout (a bit mushy). There are books on the shelves, including children's books. Free Wi-Fi is available, and it feels like the kind of place you could easily settle into for an hour or more. Power outlets are plentiful and thoughtfully placed, including under the bench seating -- easy to access without being visually intrusive. Accessibility is solid: street parking is free and plentiful, there are no steps required to access the café or bathroom, and there's a private, single-person, gender-neutral restroom in an adjacent building. I've enjoyed coming to Cafe Frida since they first opened. The live music they host is a terrific variety and includes lots of dancing music The design, ambience & art is lovely. I recall when this cafe first opened there was a very good menu and I several of the meals I ordered. However, and this is the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars, is the menu. It is odd and offers very little variety. Definitely not vegetarian/vegan friendly. I had the sangria this evening and it was unpleasant- not tasty and in a very small plastic cup. Such a shame as this place could bring in increased income with a more robust menu. I'll be coming back for the music & ambience but will eat before arriving. read more

My first time visiting Cafe Frida and I loved it. I met a friend here and it was perfect for us to catch up. There was plenty of seating, both inside and outside, when we arrived which was relatively early on a Sunday. By the time we left, the place was packed and seating was full. Great for the aesthetic and ambiance but food and drinks were underwhelming. Service was friendly and environment is very welcoming. My husband and I visited on an early Sunday afternoon and ordered a vanilla latte, matcha, chicken banh mi, and salmon toast. It took about 20 minutes for our drinks to come out and another 10 for our food which I felt was pretty long for what we ordered. The portion sizes were smaller than what I expected for the price - especially my salmon toast. The matcha and latte didn't carry much flavor. They had live music, were dog friendly with their outdoor patio, and ambiance was positive but the food and drinks were mediocre. I'm not sure I would return but think it's a great place to go for entertainment and spending time with friends/family. read more

I was conflicted on what stars I should rate this place. On one hand the cafe is beautiful. Like a hidden gem in a rather normal street. On the other hand, I was a little bit underwhelmed by the food. Let me explain: This place was recommended by a friend who lives close by. We went on a Sunday morning, not very busy, only street parking. I did not expect what I walked in to. There seems to be an art gallery and a cafe next to it. Walking in there was alot to see. Lots of cool paintings and art pieces, cool little outside garden area where you can sip your coffee and munch on your food while chatting with friends and listening to local musicians perform. And then an indoor cafe that is more quiet and with more art on the walls. Looked like a pretty cool spot. Especially for people into these sort of things. We got lattes, mochas, concha, croissant, ham and cheese sandwich and avocado toast. We wanted to try it all and was also starving. We were given numbers and we go find seats while sipping on our coffees. Okay now the drinks. They were good. Coffee was good, temperature was perfect. Keeping my hands warm was nice. then the food came in shortly after. My avocado toast was mainly salad. lol I don't hate salad, but I wish I got more avocado toast. By whole plate was green I had a hard time looking for my toast (jk). Overall it was okay. The ham and cheese was also just okay. Also, with how pretty this cafe is I was surprised they used disposable plates and utensils. The concha and croissant was great though with the coffee. Overall, I think if I was ever in the area again I will only order coffee and pastries. read more

This spot was absolutely amazing!!! I've never had eggs this way and it was sooooooo good!!! The food was definitely fresh, the onions complimented the egg and toast extremely well. It's hard to get a good chai in Santa Rosa but this spot is spot on! I didn't even have to add sugar! It's a big hidden but I loved it! Service was great, I asked for pup cups and they kindly gave me 2 for my pups. The girl was super friendly and even offered to give me a bag as I did a to go order! We arrived during the Poetry readings on a Sunday. The readings were beautiful and the ambiance was inviting but crowded. Only 1 bathroom was working. The cafe food was excellent. The Banh Mi hotdogs and the grilled ham and cheese were our favorites. There wasn't much indoor seating but it was a very pleasant and completely comfortable setting for our party of 6. For their 6 minute egg alone, I am in love! This cream cheese avo on a Goguette toast is unbelievably delicious. They also have yummy pastries and lots of iced and hot tea lattes, which lately are my go-to. The rosemary sage latte is outstanding! Today I had a chamomile London fog with oatmilk. I'm thrilled they are also an events space that showcase art. If you sign up for their emails, you'll have access to all their weekly events like tarot Wednesdays. The workers here do not make sense whatsoever. I came in to order a macchiato as it says on the menu. They said, "oh we don't do macchiato's". What do you mean you don't do macchiato's?? Not only is it on the menu, but I've ordered it off DoorDash multiple times! Whoever is working the register on 9/3 around 12:30 needs to go over a menu check list. Great coffee shop with a lovely patio and jazz playing over the speakers. I came here around 10am Friday morning with my boyfriend and dog to get some work done on our way back to SF. We sat outside on the patio where there were some other groups already chatting and enjoying the space. I really liked the relaxed, comforting vibe right off the bat, and I typically have trouble working/settling down in a coffee shop due to the noise and movement. As for food and drinks, my boyfriend and I ordered an iced latte, house coffee, breakfast burrito, and the leek and parmesan croissant. Everything tasted great and was brought out to us within 10 minutes. The person that brought our food and drinks out to us (curly hair, long skirt, boots) was SO sweet and gracious, and also offered our dog a pup cup without us asking. I felt so welcomed :'). Parking was pretty easy with plenty of 2hr street spaces. The only thing I might suggest as an improvement is being able to order and pay through QR code, which would make it easier with a dog in tow. read more

On a cold or hot day, the doors don't self-close and will be left open, so indoor comfort will be affected. Rounded down a star for lack of reusable plates and silverware; single use waste (even if it claims to be "compostable") contributes to climate change. Value is extremely lacking: $24 with tax and tip for a barely filling lunch; $18 would have felt about right. I love this spot. The GF bread is out of this world!! The coffee is great! It's a community space with a warm and efficient staff. I also love the park Nextdoor so whenever I'm passing through SR I stop here grab something then go walk. In fact I had a 3 hour planning meeting (I didn't realize it was that long,) that I took in the park. Now I know when the owners sit down to enjoy a meal it ain't the portion sizes they're serving their customers; they'd be underweight by about 40 lbs! Why y'all serve those kiddy sized portions? Just raise the prices if you must and give us more food...or call it what it is: appetizers. The French would go hungry here. I am simply enamored by my experience here this morning. My group had a spontaneous plan to walk around Spring Lake after grabbing coffee, and I'm so glad I chose to try the drinks here before considering other places. Street parking was plentiful. A helpful sign with Frida Eyes pointed the right way out to us on the sidewalk. The atmosphere of just the outdoors area was relaxed and comfortable. It was a nice and artsy community, as evidenced by the colorful wall murals and community board. Upon crossing the threshold to the interior, I was greeted with what felt like my family's house. Bunch of art with calla lilies all over the walls, massive book cases heaving with reading material for all ages, and weirdly comfortable cushioned sofas with low backs and wide sitting surface dimensions. Service style from the people working the counter was clear, efficient, and communicative. My group ordered a rosemary sage oat latte (mine), the tropic of coffee, and the house coffee. Every single one was devastatingly delicious. My latte tasted like LIQUID FOCACCIA. I am in LOVE with the fruity and bright house blend. And now I'm cursing the world for placing my daily life like 500 miles away from this lovely business. I wanted to come back after my Lake walk to grab a bag of those blessed beans, but I'm slow as fuck playing Pokemon Go and walking at the same time, so they closed before I even finished my circuit. Ever since it has opened, I have came back over and over again. I always love to meet friends at Café Frida as they offer is a variety of drinks and food. I always order an iced chai latte along with either avocado toast, or the breakfast burrito. I am not even lying when I say that I crave their breakfast burrito. It's that good! Oh, and the side salad that comes with the avocado toast has a great vinaigrette dressing. Staff has always been delightful and friendly in the shops have always been sweet and kind. The two owners have greeted me in the past, and there's always new art in the gallery. The ambience also is to die for, as it provides a quiet place to work with also live music on the weekends. Definitely one of my favorite spots within Sonoma county. It is definitely worth a drive. read more

It's a lovely and cozy space with delicious offerings and live music. I enjoyed my visit a lot! Had the soup combo which included a grilled cheese with their soup of the day. I loved their tomato soup! Grilled cheese was good as well but nothing too special. I also ordered an iced chai latte, which was super good. I'm always a little hesitant to order chai at cafes because more often than not, they are not spiced enough or too watered down, but it was absolutely perfect! I'm just docking 1 star because it did feel like the food was a bit expensive for the portions. I would be happy to visit again, however. read more

Lovely gem tucked away in downtown Santa Rosa's arts district. Cafe Frida features live music on Fridays - Sundays -- quite nice for a leisurely brunch or, on Fridays, a wind down from the week. I ordered the mollete, which is bread with melted cheese and a side salad of organic mixed greens tossed with vinaigrette, and an oat milk cappuccino. Simple but tasty. Wine and beer is also on the menu, if I recall correctly, as well as coffee and tea, sandwiches and burritos. The spacious and comfortable outdoor patio has an elevated stage for the performing musicians, which means you have a good seat no matter where your table is. There is also comfy indoor seating if you'd rather be somewhere quieter. Right now, the cafe is open from about 9a to 2p Wednesdays through Sundays, although on Fridays, the cafe is open in the evenings for live music from about 5:30-7:30p. Highly recommend! read more
