This is such a quaint café near the east end of Mount Royal. The service was friendly and fast and [[HIGHLIGHT]]they have a very scenic outdoor area which is perfect for the summer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a good amount for seating and it's open quite late as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I only got their their drinks, but from what I saw, their food looked quite good and the portions quite large.

Good solid Montreal neighborhood resto w an open backyard . It is designed inside for comfort and the food matches it. It is filled with benches and booths and has a feel of being in your grandparents living room in a cool sort of way. The food is simple but solid. Gazpacho, lentil soup and the triplex saint germain is a huge 3 layered pumpernickel sandwich s walnuts jam salad filled with olives ham cheese peppers and is very well balanced and extremely filling. Comes w a side salad . Definitely give this a try if you are in the area around st urban and stadium

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The terrace is the best in all of Montreal and so are the sandwiches.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Sarah was an amazing server who is likely the best in the whole country!

Really long wait time here, especially if you have a group great than 4, so definitely allot some time for that. Our food took a really long time to come out. Unfortunately because of the wasp issue in Montreal, someone in our group was stung when we were sitting in the backyard. Other than those, the place is cute and whimsical.

We had the perfect rainy fall weather to visit @cafesantropol. Beautiful, cosy and eclectic decor made us feel very comfortable. We also saw their incredible terrasse which was unfortunately a little wet but we hope to sit there one day. Every single thing we ordered was out of this world. A giant, full sandwich with lovely airy bread that was very satisfying... We wish we had more. A delicious butternut squash soup just pefect for this time of year. Homemade chili we had to try since the wonderful smell of it was the first thing we noticed as we entered and it tastes even better than it smells. An incredible apple cheddar scone for dessert that we couldn't get enough of. We had a really great experience it is also in part due to exemplary service. This cafe seems very popular and therefore extremely busy. Our server was incredibly fast, amicable and courteous we appreciate hwo difficult it is to work in the service industry nowadays and thank her for helping to make our morning superb.

    Killer Tomato sandwich - amazing!!

I went to McGill years ago and lived so close to Santropol, the cafe of magic hidden among the residences of the Plateau. It was recommended to me and one taste and I was hooked. So hooked, in fact, that I recently visited Montreal after 5 years of not being there and a Santropol cream cheese sandwich was one of the things I looked forward to most. Seriously, I think I talked about the sandwich for a solid week before I even visited the city. When I finally got there with my friend, I couldn't contain myself. We both got Killer Tomato sandwiches. She got a coffee and I got a spiced apple juice. The sandwich was as good as I remembered and according to my friend, I grinned the entire time I ate it. My friend also enjoyed it and I was worried I overhyped it but she confirmed it was as good as I said. The key is the fresh baked bread that is so fluffy and amazing and pairs perfectly with the flavourful cream cheese. The fresh vegetables, provide a nice crunch to the sandwich. It really is the perfect cream cheese sandwich and while that seems like it is not something you may need in your life, one bite or this and you'd realize you definitely do. I have tried some of their other sandwiches and all are delicious, not just the Killer Tomato. My second favourite is the Pepper Island but really you can't go wrong with anything. The other thing I should mention is that, while I don't personally drink coffee, my brother-in-law is obsessed and since I've been at McGill, I've had to bring bags of Santropol coffee back to Toronto for him. So there's that.

First time trying this place after hearing about it for years. Really delicious & healthy flavour combos for affordable prices. Resto has a cute and cozy terrace in the back - really cool plateau vibes. I tried the st urbain corner sandwich with chicken salad and it was delicious!! I stole some of my friend's carrot cake and goddamn I want some more. Ate everything on Mont-Royal, great food for a picnic. Worth a visit!!

WOW!! I would give this place 10 stars if I could. The place is super cute and the food is out of this world. I am a McGill student so, during one of my breaks, my friend dragged me to this place to try it out. I am NOT a tomato person but my friend told me I had to try the killer tomato sandwich, so I did. It was insane!!! The sandwich included tomato garlic cream cheese, fresh tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes, and lettuce (and I added chicken salad). It has been a month since I tried the sandwich and I am still not over it!!! It was phenomenal. The portion sizes are also gigantic, so bring an appetite!! I have only ever heard great things about this place, and I only have good things to say about it too. The staff were so sweet, the food was delicious and the inside decor was super cute. I'm going to have to come back in the summer because I hear its even more beautiful on the terrace!

Absolutely loved Cafe Santropol's food and their gorgeous back patio!! I got their carrot cake and really enjoyed it. I felt like I was in a fairy tale with the atmosphere of the garden and the beautifully decorated cake. My companion got the Killer Tomato sandwich (his second time getting it) and loved it.

I was wandering in the neighborhood. Randomly went here. I didn't check yelp until I got home to know there was a back yard with pond. It was a bit confusing for me to see the sign "wait to be seated" and ordering stuff up front at the cashier. I only had a soup meal. The daily soup. Flavourful and spicy. I didn't ask for bread, but they still bought me a basket. My weak will let me had one slice of their irresistible homemade bread. Will come back and check out the fish pond and garden.

Café Santropol is the cutest restaurant ever! Located near Jeanne-Mance Park, it has a cute open-air terrace with fairy lights, eccentric statues, greenery, and a pond. I love the down-to-earth bohemian vibe. Santropol has a menu page dedicated to vegan & vegetarian sandwiches. I ordered the Parc Avenue sandwich (tempeh marinated in lime, chili, and cilantro, avocado smash, and tomatoes) which came in the thickest, heartiest brown bread I've ever eaten. All sandwiches are served with a small side salad and tangy dressing. Such a satisfying meal on a hot summer evening!

The place is gorgeous , cute private garden in the back. Portions are very generous and filling. However my sandwich was not great. The combination of flavors was not matching. I had the Cote Saint Urban but like to come back and try other dishes since I've heard good things about this place. The chai latte was watery. The lentil soup was ok.

Fresh, tasty, healthy and won't break the bank! The interior and exterior dining areas are very comfortable and homey. I loved this spot so much I went twice in one week. There are many options for both vegetarians and meat eaters. They have a wide selection of cold and hot drinks. The Duluth Sandwich and gaspacho were my favorite dishes. The carrot cake was one of the best I've had (other than my grandmas)! The bread crust was a little hard to bite through but otherwise I have no complaints regarding the sandwiches. I would highly recommend this cafe for anyone visiting or living in Montréal. It's right next to Jeanne Mance Park so it's the perfect pre- or post- Mont Royal hike destination.

It's a beautiful restaurant, they cover a wide area within the hotel, including a lounge area, a more cocktail bar area, and a full restaurant set up. The beauty? They cover anything you might want. The downside? They're busy and usually severely behind schedule. I've been with great, consistent staff and I've been and left after 20 minutes of no check in. It can be hit or miss, but when it hits? It hits. They also provide the food that you order up to your room, which is probably my favorite part. Hotels rarely offer the same great menu to your room and so I always know when I've had a long workday that I can just get the same great dinner and lounge in bed after and avoid people. They also are great at getting breakfast to your door early, which makes trips to Montreal so much easier, especially if you're going for work. They always have a great selection of drinks, full bar so they offer everything, and the bartenders has been the same for at least a couple years. They're really nice. They do a good job. Ask for the food, it is always good, and the part I love is that they're very good about allergies when you mention it to them. They offer gluten-free bread and they change out ingredients. I've never had a bad meal or snack. So even when sometimes the weight is too long I know I'll be back another day and I'll have something great.

There is a bar in front with lounge style seating. It was eclectic and the music had a French twist. I ate lamb the first night and steak the night after. Both delicious but I liked the lamb better and the nioch was a nice touch. The thinly sliced fries with the steak was difficult to eat. The octopus was amazing and soft. Overall great and attentive staff and good food.
