Came here for brunch and ordered to share the shaved Brussels sprouts with roasted pine nuts , grand padano , pumpkin seeds and dill. Delicious and it was a huge portion! From the moment we walked in I could smell the absolute lovely aroma emanating from the kitchen. We came for my birthday and our server Megan was an absolute delight. We started with the, recommended, mozzarella sticks and Brussels Caesar. The cheese pull and flavour of the mozzarella sticks was amazing, but the side sauce was a little too acidic. I'm not a fan of Brussels sprouts but the salad was one of the most divine I've ever had made. We also decided to share a pasta plate and do a split pie. Vodka sauce and Truffle Shuffle on each side. The truffle pizza was perfect as was the dipping sauce. Garlicky but witch a kick. The vodka sauced pizza was lacking something, less flavour compared to the other. For the pasta we stayed tame and tried a basic fettuccine Alfredo. The fettuccine had a garlicky sauce so creamy it almost didn't need parm. I say almost because just as lover of cheese I have to have it. The interior was phenomenal and I seriously wanted exactly those chairs and lights adorning my living room. Since it was my birthday they sent out a piece of cheesecake and it was amazing. The crust looked like no other, while the cheesecake was ok, the pairing of cherry topping topped me right off. This is a food delivery review. I am quite familiar with their pasta offerings as frequent one in the neighborhood place. This one offers a make at home pasta (truffle funghi muffalada) at very reasonable price imo. I was enticed by their pizza offerings as well as they aren't the one's offered at their other location. Easily a new favourite spot. We've come here twice now in the last few days. Once to sample the delicious cream filled pastry and pizza and another for the meal. The pizza was great with a thick and soft dough and crispy exterior. I'm usually a fan of thin crust but really enjoyed this one. Almost like a focaccia base. For the meal, we came for their happy hour, which is a great deal. Salads were full of flavour, rigatoni had a very vibrant spicy sauce, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Everything felt very balanced and relatively healthy despite having some fried components. We went during off peak hours both times so service was quick. The environment is really nice. One half is a cafe where people were doing work. The other half is a dining area. They also have a large outdoor seating area. Really delicious food with good quality ingredients that we will be sure to come back for, especially at their happy hour prices. read more

A new-ish brunch/ lunch/ dinner spot in Regent Park area. There' hardly any parking on the streets near here as there are lots of condo buildings around, so find yourself an underground parking instead. Upon arriving, your left is a more casual cafe feel and style. You order your food and coffee at the counter and seat yourself. To the right is the main dining area and man is it stunning! Absolutely beautiful with their decor and looked super homey. Service was great as well as our server came to check in on us a couple of times. I started my meal off with a vanilla latte and got my lunch of the smoked salmon plate. Both were a 5/5 for me. The focaccia bread from the smoked salmon plate was absolutely divine and was freshly baked. The plate came with some ricotta spread, capers, pickled red onions, herbs and a soft boiled egg. It's a disassembled plate and you can eat it however you choose to. I thought this place was great for a quiet lunch catch up session with some good food and drinks. We came in for brunch around 12pm and loved the vibe of the place. The sausage pizza was delicious, and the drinks were pretty good. Our waitress, Joelle, was lovely. However, we had a really bizarre experience with the kitchen. We requested a side of scrambled eggs for our 10-month-old; Joelle initially told us they could only do poached (which was totally fine by us), but then returned to say the chef refused the request entirely. Her exact words were, "The chef said not today." When we asked for clarification, we were told they were running too low on eggs to serve them on the side. It's hard to wrap your head around a brunch spot being so low on eggs that they can't provide one for a baby! It's a shame because the food and Joelle's service were great, but that interaction felt incredibly unwelcoming. read more

What a gem of a restaurant! The trifecta was great: service, food and ambiance. I ordered the spaghetti with meatballs. Their pasta is freshly made on site! I also had the baby gem salad and the winter sangria. They have $6 kids meals on Wednesday and Sundays after 5pm (with purchase of a main). I will be back with my kids. I visited this place for a weekend brunch and loved the aesthetic of the place!! We had made a reservation here a week or two in advance so there wasn't much of wait when we entered. Having said that, there wasn't a big line up outside the restaurant either. The space was simple and elegant. The staff were very friendly and took the time to go through the menu with us. For drinks, I got their espresso martini which was pretty good and gave me the right kick I needed to start the day. It wasn't too boozy, but the taste of coffee was pretty strong. For food, I got their medaglioni which had polenta, mushrooms, butter, and pecorino. It was super creamy and garlicky, just how I like it. My friend got the truffle cream panzerotto which was essentially a savoury turnover and it came with a side of salad. She really seemed to like it! Set in Regant Park , in the same block as the Dance Arts Institute, this new modern restaurant felt like a nice getaway on this side of the city. Decor was light, airy and modern. The service was great , I came here with my 2.5 year old and they were very accommodating with seating and food options. We ordered the pancakes and eggs in purgatory and both were delicious. I can't wait to come back for more. Tip- come early for weekend brunch which starts at 11am. Ordered a bunch of stuff and the standouts were the eggplant parmigiana (super cheesy), brussels caesar (fresh, light, crunchy) and squash (seasonal dish that was amazing - both sweet and savoury, with a divine brown butter glaze). Also got the pappardelle (tasty but would've liked the pasta to be a bit less thick and chewy), torta (nice balance of hazelnut crunch and mascarpone) and apple crostata (pretty good but a bit too sweet for me). It's in the Regent Park area, so there's not as much foot traffic compared to other downtown spots. No visible line ups. So we didn't feel as pressed to leave ASAP. The ambiance is amazing, and the servers are also great. I ordered the truffle cream panzerotto based on the server's recommendation, and I appreciated that it came with a light salad and that the panzerotto was nice and light, not too overly heavy. The Italian café serves a variety of beverages (coffee, teas, etc.), food items (baked goods, savoury items - sandwiches), as well as has products for sale (mostly food related). The café has seating indoors and a small patio outdoors. Indoors, there is about seating for ~25 customers. The interir is warm and inviting. I decided to check out Café Zuzu one Sunday morning. Even though I went at an early time just when the café had opened, it was already busy with customers. I opted for a banana loaf and a flat white. The glass case filled with pastries and baked goods definitely makes it difficult for one to decide what to get. I saw they also had breakfast sandwiches made to order but I did not have time to get one. Since there was quite a few people ahead of me, I had to wait a bit for my flat white. The line can get confusing since many people may be waiting for their beverages. The banana loaf was good but the coffee was mediocre. There definitely are better places to find coffee elsewhere around that area. I do want to try the breakfast sandwich next time! read more

A really fancy cafe in the new Regent Park. I wanted to see if it was worth the premium price tag, especially the $9.00 bacon and egg breakfast sandwich, compared to the Tim Hortons down the block. I am Displeased to say that it is a lot better than Timmie's! They put some extra yummy Mayo, cherry tomatoes and other yummy things in there. They also do some interesting Italian breakfast foods. I'm usually not someone who leaves reviews, but today I am compelled. My service was less than sub par, and the gnocchi I ordered was undercooked and mushy. I'm okay with mistakes, but the kitchen didn't even take accountability. In fact, they told the waitress this is how they make it, which from her original review is untrue. Waitress was also terrible, forgot my drink order, until after 15 minutes. Eventually they took my plate back when there was a mistake, but didn't even let me know if it was taken off the bill or not. Service was straight up awful -- I still tipped 18% as I understand people have lively hoods. After everything, she didn't even offer me a copy of my receipt, even after I tipped, didn't say thank you or good night. I am such an easy patron and this was just pretty disappointing. Cafe Zuzu has tremendous potential in this area, I encourage you to train staff both kitchen + service. Best of luck. read more
