Oh my hidden gem right here!!! One of the top best Italian restaurants I've been to. The interior is small but beautiful and the staff are so friendly it's amazing. We ended up sitting at the bar as we made our resos a bit late. I highly recommend making a reservation considering how busy it was and how small the place is. Food: - fried calamari: 5/5 stars. I'm a sucker for a good calamari and this hit it on the dot. The sauce it came with was really good too! The food came very quick. - vodka pasta: 4.8/5 stars. This was absolutely delicious. I also love vodka pasta and this was made to absolute perfection. - truffle mushroom pasta: 5/5 stars. The pasta pieces were full of flavour and rich mushroom truffle taste. This neighborhood gem has a cozy yet romantic vibe; a perfect spot for a girls night out or a casual date. We opted to share all of the dishes that we ordered for the evening. We started with the kale salad and grilled brocollini. This kale salad was absolutely delicious...perfectly balanced with pine nuts Parmesan cheese and a dazzling vinaigrette. We then had the spicy sausage pasta and the sea bass. They were very accommodating to my gluten allergy and made the pasta gluten free. It was absolutely soul warming. The fish was also perfectly cooked and served alongside the decadent crispy fried potatoes. The portion sizes at this restaurant are very generous so prepare to share or have leftovers to take home. Came here last night for dinner with my family after moving my sister into her new apartment just down the street. Not the biggest space, but we did not feel cramped and the noise level was such that we could easily carry on a conversation. Lighting was a bit dark and I noticed quite a few diners having to use their phone light to read the menu. However, overall a very cozy setting that was a nice refuge from the fierce cold outside. The food was excellent. We ordered an Insalata di panzanella to start. It was a good size with nice cheese and fresh tomatoes. As my entree, I ordered the Linguine ai frutti di mare (seafood linguine with tomato sauce). I was blown away by the amount and quality of seafood the dish came with. It was definitely a pleasant surprise. The linguine itself was well cooked and the tomato sauce was very flavourful. I have ordered this particular dish at multiple restaurants and I would have to rank this as one of the best, if not the best, seafood linguine that I have had in Toronto. My family ordered three other pasta dishes: Casarecce alla salsiccia, Rigatoni alla vodka, and Tagliatelle alla bolognese. All of these pastas were excellent as well. The calamari and gnudi were a good pairing; since gnudi on its own is quite heavy, I recommend it alongside calamari for some crunch. Everything here was an absolute chef's kiss! I'm still dreaming of their food to this day. For appetizers, we got the Insalata Con Burrata and the Calamari and both were fantastic. The burrata was to die for and the only complain was that we needed more! The calamari was crispy yet light, not too heavy handed on the batter. For my main, we got a couple of dishes to share: 1) Gnudi Al Funghi: this was my first time having gnudi and it was so pillowy soft and the wild mushroom sauce was amazing. 2) Linguine all'Aragosta: this was also so good! Worth the heavy price tag because of the lobster. 3) Pizza Dela Casa: definitely a unique combination that I haven't tasted before. Upon the first bite, you taste the honey coat your tongue and then it gets salty once you get to the burrata. Very delightfully interesting. 4) Pizza Con Salsiccia: didn't actually try this cause I was so stuffed by the end, but my family says this is better than the pizza dela casa and packs more of a punch. Even cocktails and desserts were amazing. I got the El Paradiso for my drink of the night, and that was strong - definitely not a watered-down cocktail at all. The Panna cotta for dessert was also creamy and smooth. Shoutout to the workers here cause the service was on point! The restaurant is beautiful inside, very clean and elegant. Can definitely be a place where you dress up or go casual. The staff is lovely and as it was a Sunday, it was pretty quiet. There is very minimal seating outside, no patio. Drinks were $12 in the cocktail section so I had a Paloma and it was great, would order again. I also had the Gnudi ConFunghi and it was divine. It was my first time visiting this Italian restaurant on St. Clair West. We were seated on the outdoor patio, where it was nicely decorated with greenery and plants. Service was very friendly, and the waiter checked up on us often. We ordered pizza, meatball pasta, and iced latte. The iced latte was really good and came with coffee beans on top as a finishing touch. Prices were reasonable for lunch menu, ranging from $15-$30. However, we waited almost 45 minutes for the main meals to come. The waiter mentioned that the meatballs take awhile to cook. I would have ordered something else if I knew it would take that long. When the food finally came, it tasted delicious! The pasta was really fresh and had a home-made feeling. I'm not sure if the meatballs were cooked properly, as I did not feel well afterwards. The pizza also came in a generous portion. I also noticed other customers order the kale salad, which looked plentiful and fresh! I am surprise this restaurant didn't get a lot of review, but I want to give this place a try based on the 30 something high rating reviews. This place for sure is popular for locals. It is packed on Saturday night and make sure make reservations well ahead of time. We are party of 8, share some salad and appetizer. My favourite is the cavolo kale salad which is very appetizing. The pine nuts and kale has a nice texture with sweet maple dressing. Calamari fritti is nicely deep fried. Gnudi con funghi is their signature house made ricotta gnuhi; it is very creamy with nice truffle mushroom flavour. Another pasta stand out is the Linguine di Pesce loaded with lots of fresh shellfish - shrimps, scallops, mussels and calamari. The pasta is sourced from local store Bologna Pastifico. The pan seared snapper is nicely done as well. Overall, we are pretty happy for all the dishes we ordered. Service is attentive and food came very promptly with a good pace. The 3 of us came for an early dinner on a Saturday. We shared mussels with white wine, housemade ricotta meatballs, ricotta gnudi with wild mushroom and seafood risotto (special of the day). The mussels and meatball were quite ordinary in terms of both taste and texture. I do like how the meatballs weren't dry, likely because of the ricotta. The risotto was pretty good! The rice was al dente and was not overly salty. The creamy sauce helped retain the heat. The shrimps were "crispy and crunchy". My only suggestion is to pair the dish with a bigger lobster tail (and charge a few dollars more to compensate for the cost). The star dish of the night was the gnudi. It was soft and pillowy. I can eat multiple dishes of this! The cream sauce wasn't overly rich and heavy. The truffle taste was relatively pronounced. We finished off the night with their tiramisu. read more

Ah came here on a Friday night and dine out in the front patio. It was a nice setting and the service was great. There were so many things we wanted to try, but between the two of us we had to make some tough choices. Also the Grilled Calamari was my favourite - perfectly cooked, with that wonderful grill flavour and well seasoned. I booked a reservation at Cano for my partner's birthday. Making a reservation was easy and someone from the restaurant contacted me the day of to confirm the time. I appreciated that. I had personal expectations of the ambiance after reading the menu; a restaurant that falls somewhere between fine dining and casual that serves great Italian food, and Cano was spot on. The ambiance combined with the high quality, delicious, food, provided an atmosphere that I have never experienced in any other restaurant. It was different. But a great different. They have indoor and outdoor seating, (I am not sure if the outdoor seating is solely for walk-ins, so be mindful to ask if you want to enjoy their lovely outdoor space). It is a cozy restaurant inside, but still enough space where you do not feel crowded whatsoever. The service was impeccable. Staff would check in on us and remove our finished plates immediately. When ordering dessert, our server took ear that it was my partner's birthday and brought out the dessert with candle on it. Nice touch! The food is beyond delicious. It is packed with flavor, the portions are perfect and considering the fine-dine quality of their food, the price is fairly priced. Everything we ate was delicious and they were not hesitant (nor charged us) for extra bread! My only critiques would be this: The glass of wine I ordered was $15.00. But when I asked the server how many ounces it was (I was thinking of ordering another glass) he told me, "it depends on the person pouring. You may get 6oz or you may get 8-9oz." I've never been to a restaurant where you could get less for the same price for more. I'd suggest offering patrons different ounce options for the wine so they can make their own choice on how much alcohol they want to have rather than leaving it up to whoever is pouring. Please be mindful of the music, for the majority of the night hip/hop was playing. It threw off the ambiance just a tad for me. Figure out an easier menu system or print your menu. I noticed many people struggling with the menu when we arrived and when we left. There is a lot on the menu and it can be overwhelming, especially if you aren't tech savvy. Went here on a Friday night as my second choice and I'm glad the first place I went turned me away because this place is a gem. They were happy to accommodate one for dinner during a Friday night rush and the service was impeccable and friendly. They made me feel at home. I started with a La Fumosa which was great but a tad sweet for my taste as I like my cocktails to be so balanced as to hold a house of cards. Second outing was a Speziato and it was perfect, house of cards in tact. I had no appetizers went straight for entree. I ordered off of the specials lamb shank with asparagus, broccolini and fingerling potatoes. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the best lamb I've ever had from a restaurant. It was perfect, prepared medium rare. It melted in my mouth like butter and was not greasy or fatty nor hard which I find the norm when I order lamb. The greens were also perfectly cooked and really the only thing I can complain about is that I could have used one more fingerling potato. The potatoes were perfect and had this crunchy stuff on top that enlightened the perfection of their cook. I had a recommended red wine with dinner that escapes me but it was a perfect recommendation so that clearly speaks to the bar tender's knowledge. Flavors and textures working perfectly to create a symphony in my mouth! For dessert I had the white chocolate tiramisu with a recommended amaretto but not the regular amaretto you think of when you think of amaretto. I do not remember the name of it but it was a warm, comfortable handshake with the tiramisu. Again kudos to the bartender for being so knowledgeable. Friday night and this place was slammed, understandably so, yet the noise felt comfortable and added to the overall warmth of the ambiance. So good!!! Came here the other day and sat out on their nice, small, however spacious, patio. They have eliminated the paper menus and opted for online menus which is great. They seem to be following covid health regulations, I felt quite comfortable dining there, especially considering it's location right on a bustling part of St. Clair. We ordered arancini and meatballs for the table, which only come in three pieces but they accommodated and let us order four of each so each person could have one! The arancini were piping hot, crispy on the outside but not greasy and then gooey and luscious in the middle-so good! The meatballs were also fabulous, topped with a delicious tomato sauce and served with crostini. I recommend both of these dishes! For my main, I had the shrimp linguini, others at the table had the vodka pasta and the mushroom gnudi. Everyone was pleased with their food. I was especially pleased with my pasta which was unbelievable. Large shrimp, cooked perfectly, the pasta was rich and creamy but not overly so, the whole thing was magical. Highly recommend to any seafood lover. Service was down to earth, friendly and professional. We did wait a while between apps to place our mains order but we weren't in a rush so it wasn't a problem. Let's start with the crust on the burratina pizza ($25), which is thin and chewy, everything I look for in pizza. It's cooked until a golden crust develops that despite being covered by a generous layer of tomato sauce, remains crispy and holds up with one hand. Then the toppings: having the sauce, cheese, and basil combination, it's like a margherita but elevated with the dollops of creamy burrata dusted with black Maldon salt. The tomato sauce is fresh versus tangy and with a liberal drizzle of olive oil, even the bites with no cheese or basil still tastes magnificent. Their pasta is also solid. The rigatoni annata ($20) a substantial mound of perfectly done pasta in a vodka rose sauce swirled with shallots, pecorino and pancetta. It's similar to a carbonara but the creaminess tempered with a bit of the tomato's acid. In fact, the sauce was so good I wiped my plate with bits of pizza crust to ensure it didn't go to waste. Visit on Tuesday or Wednesday and you'll also receive half a dozen oysters free with any bottle of wine. It's appeared to be a deal that most tables participated in, including us, where six freshly shucked St. Simon oysters arrived lacking none of the traditional cocktail sauce, onion mignonette, and fresh horseradish fixings. And a bottle of wine on a weekday... what can be more Italian? Every bite was tasty to the finish. Their tiramisu ($10) is a good rendition of the popular dessert, done traditionally with plenty of espresso and creamy mascarpone flavours. A bit more of the lady fingers and lighter sprinkling of the unsweetened cocoa powder would have made it even better. Yet, it's the panna cotta ($9) that was the hit. The silky vanilla bean base so creamy and luscious it feels like you're having tapioca pudding without the tapioca, but there's just enough gelatin allowing the dessert to scoop easily into a spoon. We had a fantastic time here. We sat on the back patio which was super cute and had a fun atmosphere. Service was excellent and everyone we chatted with seemed to genuinely want us to have a great time. Our server was so excited with our menu choices. We started with the kale salad and for mains had the pesto pasta and octopus, shrimp with beets and broccolini. Our food ended up taking quite a long time to come out. We didn't care as we weren't in a rush and don't say anything but our server ended up bringing us more drinks and pasta while we waited which was extremely kind. 10 stars!!! (5 each for the 2 times we've been to Cano this last month) This Corso Italia-based spot at St Clair West is quite possibly the best Italian restaurant I've been to in the city. I loooooove seafood and Cano is awesome at it. That said, this awesomeness makes Cano pricey, though worth it in my opinion. We went here for dinner both times and got: Mains - Insalata Cesare: Just the right amount of garlic to give this staple insalata a different bite without being too overpowering. The crispy pancetta was also a great touch. - Gnudi Con Funghi: Handmade, truffle-creamed ricotta gnudi was like soft pillows melted in your mouth. - Linguini De Pesce: Generous amounts of seafood in this pasta, and the white wine and tomato sauce combo was interesting. - Polipo: The grilled octopus was so tender, it tasted almost milky. The moroccan spice, romesco sauce and side green beans added a great kick to the dish. - Branzino: Deboned full sea bass (with head and all) was cooked really simply with herbs and lemon, letting the exquisite quality of the fish shine through. - Frutti De Mare Alla Griglia: A platter of scallops, calamari, and tiger shrimps. Continuing with the theme of letting the quality of the seafood be the star, this was adorned with just onion sprouts (which were themselves surprisingly tasty) and romesco sauce. Desserts - Crosta Doppio: Basically a frozen cheesecake sandwich with oreo cookies as the "bun". Sounds better than it was. Think the taste was good but it was a bit too frozen, almost to the point of freezer burn. - Tiramisu: Smooth and velvety, just as the best tiramisu is. - Panna Cotta: Silky vanilla bean creme with just the right drizzle of salted caramel to spice it up. They "gelatined" this to just the right level of firmness. Drinks - Aperol Spritz: Light and refreshing. - Latte: Standard latte with a generous amount of foam/froth which I like. Can't express enough how much my wife and I loved this place. If you're a seafoodie like us, this is a must-try! read more

The food was exceptional, The Service was 10 star, and the Ambiance couldn't be more perfect. We were celebrating my brother's birthday. The Italian family vibes were ever present. The staff were attentive and professional but also treated us like family. It was absolutely the best pasta I've ever had from a restaurant. Cassarece con salsiccia was personally not the best I've ever had, but the service was impeccable & the pane alle olive was delicious. The calamari alla griglia was also wonderful. read more
