Just had brunch here on a Saturday. The front patio is cute and allows for a great view of the Kensington Market experience. Inside looked nice too. Service was appropriate. Food was fantastic! See pictures. Recommend!

I was pleasantly surprised by T.O. Dickens. I had a late flight coming to Toronto and found this little 24-hour restaurant and decided to give it a try. Everything was so delicious, I still think about this meal. We were seated right away and the server helped us with a smile. The indoors is very cute and it reminds me of an underground bar / speakeasy for some reason. The food did take a little long, but it was 100% worth the wait. My colleagues ordered the poutine and said it was the best they ever had. I will be coming back!

Not sure if the positive reviews on here are legit or not, but our experience left a ton to be desired. We came on a very slow Monday. Only two other tables were in the restaurant. We were not met with a greeting upon entry, and it took a while to get menus once we told the staff we were on the back patio. We ordered calamari, a grilled cheese with bacon, a Caesar, and a Guinness. We were informed that they were out of calamari, but decided to go ahead with the rest. The drinks arrived, and the Guinness was nice and cold in a can. Hard to mess that one up. The Caesar was far from the cocktail description. Barely any rim, obviously made with Mott's, a pathetic strip of celery on the skewer (promptly removed) canned olives, and no extreme bean (listed in cocktail description on menu). When asked, the server told us they were out of this as well. The sandwich arrived, and although passable, could have been easily made at home. Bagged bread, decently cheesy, but they forgot the bacon. When asked about the order, the server said "I didn't hear bacon" despite reading it back to us. With how many good restaurants are in the area, this is an EASY skip. I don't understand the positive reviews here.

Really happy with our food and service. Price point is good for us too. Had pesto chicken and a chicken club. All good!

Just got kicked out of the sleep study clinic at 6 AM and was famished! So I found the only 24 hour breakfast joint around and it was in Kensington. Thought it might be a scruffy back alley joint. Which is cool also because they often have great red vinyl stool Diner bacon, and eggs! What a pleasant surprise to come into this warmly lighted, but with a splash of aqua blue waves Making for a warm vibrant atmosphere. The server Donna was fabulous, polite, cheerful, and truly service with a smile! Eggs were perfectly done over-easy, draped over a huge pile of fries to soak up any of the precious spilled yolk as the ultimate early-morning gravy! I opted for the sausage in case it was something special because you can get side bacon anywhere. Great decision! Not your standard mini sizzlers for sure. Coffee was good and served in a nice cup with little spoon. I noticed little touches like the water jug Was polished. Not just out of the dishwasher! Small touches like that give me confidence in their food safety as well. Oh yeah, the. Challah toast Was surprisingly delicious! It's so nice to see small indy restaurants coming back to our city. And Kensington may be reversing the turn towards crass Starbucking up such a cool part of our history that makes Toronto such a unique city!

Great new spot in Kensington for 2023! Their claim to fame is that they are open 24 hours. It should be interesting to see if they can keep up the momentum in an area that has large swings in popularity from super congested and lively crowds, and very quiet with most of the city largely ignoring and avoiding the place. If you only visit occasionally you could be excused in thinking it's always a busy spot. We first sat on the huge back patio and took in the ambiance. It's a really great spot back there and quite private. The staff didn't ignore us, but if it was busier I could imagine you might need to poke them by going inside. We moved inside to eat after having a drink on the patio. The interior is smaller than the back patio, and more cozy. We had our dinners which were well presented and tasty! The presentation was more elevated than I expected for a 24-hour joint, so keep that in mind as it could be a good date-night spot setting a nice mood for the evening, and without the constraints of any time limits. At the front window there is a spot where live music or a DJ could be at some point. And the front patio was quite busy in the summer with drink specials advertised, although it seemed like all-day happy hour didn't have quite the usual ring to it. Nice to see a spot without overpriced cocktails like much of Toronto has moved to though. This is a decent spot to keep in mind when you want to dine-in when visiting the area.

From the hostess to the waitstaff. All very polite and welcoming. We observed them with other guests and they seemed very patient with the loud kids...and adults to be fair. LOL We had the big skillet both days as well as the breakfast sandwich. While there were some variances, we enjoyed both experiences. The first visit was better in my opinion - the potatoes were tender and not overcooked and my fruit cup didn't have a lot of cantaloupe. I have shared pictures of the menu as well. We had sparkling water and diet cola both times. Our beverages never ran dry. There is an upstairs that overlooks the first floor dining area. We wondered if anyone had ever spilled a beverage that landed on guests below. We could definitely see the possibility of that happening. They also had a nice patio, however, on the hotter days, not sure how enjoyable the city smell would be while trying to eat. Interesting - they only had one bathroom. So we observed a line. And there are tables right next to the door. I would avoid those seats if possible. A little too close to the restroom in my opinion. If we are in the area again, we would definitely eat here again, although they may be at the new location if we visit in the future. I look forward to seeing the upgraded features at the new location.

Pierina guided us via phone and even came outside of the restaurant and waved as we approached. That was awesome Customer service as well as kindness. Ambiance was chill inside. Especially liked the artwork and table with their name on it. I had the Nutella latte, Nutella and strawberry waffle, and a side of sausage. Didn't like the sausage at all (tasted a bit gamey) but that's probably because ein the states there are nitrates, etc that make it taste better. No biggie! She switched it out for bacon, and that was fine and appreciated. My sister had the breakfast tacos that looked delicious and she really enjoyed. All in all this was a great pick and I would return when im Canada ever again and I'm in the area. Keep up the great work, Pierina. Her welcoming attitude attentiveness and knowledge of the menu was stellar and warrants recognition. Thank you!!!

The almond croissant, when you're lucky enough to claim one before nine, delivers a genuinely impressive balance of shattering, buttery layers and a filling laced generously with almond cream, more Parisian in spirit than most bakeries attempting the same feat across this city. Even the raspberry version, when available, carries the same confident hand in the kitchen. The coffee program deserves equal praise. A well pulled latte and a properly balanced cappuccino suggest a team that treats espresso with the same seriousness as their pastry case, and it shows in the cup. Where the experience finds room to grow is in the choreography of the space itself. The room is petite, charming in its cobalt blue framed way, but the flow between ordering and pickup can feel cramped during a rush, and seating fills quickly. The patio, however, is a genuine reward, a shaded perch worth claiming on a slow afternoon. This is a cafe operating with real ambition and skill, let down only occasionally by its own popularity. Food (3.5/5) - the menu is a combination of small and large plates ideal for sharing. A cosmopolitan menu of diverse items from many different cuisines. - Baja Caesar Salad - baby romaine, corn, caesar dressing, agave bacon, croutons, grana padano, chili spice. This was pretty good, romaine was fresh and sauce not too overpowering with a slight kick to it. - Coconut Shrimp with mango salsa, lime, chipotle aioli. Also pretty good... shrimp was cooked fine and the garnishes worked with it. - Tuna Ceviche with avocado, cilantro, corn, red onions, leche de tigre, cancha, plantain. This one was average. The sashimi chunks were pretty average and the overall mix seemed to lack flavour and moistness. - Hamachi Crudo with avocado, elderflower, pickled strawberry, jalapeño, pistachio, basil, olive oil. This was one pretty bad... some of the worst hamachi I have ever had! Overly fishy and off-colour. Service (4/5) - server and assistants were friendly and generally attentive. Some lapses in check ins from time to time. Rooftop is first come, first serve so a reservation does not mean you will be seated quickly and may have to hang out in the interior bar or tables until ready. Atmosphere (4.75/5) - you really cannot top the view from Kost. It has multiple look out areas besides the patio dining area by the infinity pool. They have a raised photo pedestal which is ideal to take pictures with the Tower, Rogers Centre and lake in the background. They also have some trendy couches and sitting areas as well. The interior dining area is also pretty good with window views outside and a California vibe to it. Overall (4/5) - Yes, the food is on the average side for the price. However, it really is a great atmosphere for dining, even if sitting inside. It is a bucket list destination at a minimum and worth a repeat imo.
