Loved the dramatic entrance and immersive experience in the bar area while waiting for seating to begin. The show itself? Phenomenal...I think. What a creative, unique way to tell a story with cool and original music. Had we actually been able to see the stage, I would have been able to give this a better rating. I paid almost $100 a ticket to take my mom to the show and this was our view of the stage. It's not worth that kind of money for seats like this. I was not happy.

Cages Is such a unique and spectacular show. I first came across Cages from a TikTok, and they captured the emotion of the event by short clips and it immediately got my attention, and I immediately loved it! So much so, that I have gone 4 times, bringing a new group of non-loving theatre friends with me each time, and they instantly became hooked to the idea of immersive/interactive theatre! Without spoiling too much, as the show is intended to go in pretty blindly - the storyline is a Romeo and Juliet style of forbidden love, actually forbidden emotion showing. Be prepared to interact with some actors if you show some emotion, I encourage you to play along, it's fun! The music is complex and catchy! I have the soundtrack always playing on Spotify. The emotional mixology was interesting and delicious, we all enjoyed Love and Lust and crave it frequently. CJ Baren and Wondashow have caught my heart with this story and I can't wait until they come back from London for more Cages and/or create more stories (Cuddles ).

So let me start off by saying... this show is different. Here are some of the takeaways: Show Expectation: It's a one man show, meaning, the main character is basically the only character that performs throughout the show. There are 5 other live performers that come out for a total of maybe 5 minutes throughout the show (little bit of singing/dancing). The other 2 main characters are holograms (which I was super bummed about) because these characters are vital to the development of the main character and overall plot. Length: Part 1- 50 min Intermission - 20 min Part 2 - 50 min Music: The beats, music, and singing abilities are on point. The only downfall is that the music is so loud that you can't hear the lyrics or understand what the characters are saying sometimes. The bass is so loud that I would recommend everyone wear ear plugs throughout the entire show. The bass is literally deafening and hurts your ears at some points in the show. Special Effects: The special effects are on point. I really liked all of the projector images/effects. Beware- there is a ton of fast flashing and super bright strobe lights. Timeline: Not sure if this is as a one time occurrence but our show on 2/12/22 ran an entire hour late. We were part of section 1 seating and we're told we would be seated at 7pm (so we arrived at 6:45) but we didn't actually get seated until 8pm. Decor/Setting/Bar: The decor/setting is pretty amazing. It's definitely goth/dark vibes in terms of setting and decor which sets the tone for the show. If you do buy VIP tickets, you'll get to sit in a roped off area behind the tree. The theater is hidden halfway down a dark alley and has free parking within the same alley, so no need to worry about parking. Cocktails are $17 each. The theater is very small and seats about 150 people or less. 1 door in and 1 door out, so bottlenecking does happen before, after, and at intermission.

If Pink Floyd and Tim Burton had an orgy with the smiths, postal service, Morrissey, all while dropping acid. And they had this dark disturbed melodious baby. This is the best way I can describe my experience with this phenomenal exposure to this metaphoric creation. I was blown away by the music, and by the sick and twisted love story. Now idk if its clear, but I loved it. And absolutely recommend this experience to everyone. But stay home if you're prone to seizures and are bothered by flickering lights and loud noises. Otherwise go check it out.

If you see anything this year in a time where we have been endlessly glued to our distant screens, go see the musical theatre experience CAGES in downtown LA. It is truly unlike anything I have seen before, combining one man show with interactive music video with musical theatre and so much more. CAGES tells the story of a rare man named Woolf capable of musical expression in a world devoid of emotion and passion and how he meets a woman who changes his life forever. Woolf is the audience's tangible connection to our world as the actor interacts with 3D projections and synchronous visuals on stage, seamlessly blending the two visual mediums together. The use of shadows and silhouettes is unparalleled and all of this visual majesty is scored by a soundtrack that infuses darkwave with hip hop with 1920s music box with orchestra and it just keeps on going. Being in the humble theatre itself adds to the one of a kind immersion as you enter through a parking lot alleyway and through a stage door leading you to a vintage otherworldly library/apothecary where actors will stare at you and, if you're lucky, feel your heartbeat as you wait to be guided into the auditorium that's been designed to smell like the woods; a sensory indulgence that I've always felt that cinema needs to tap into. I hope they continue to add shows throughout the year, because this was a tear inducing experience I've enjoyed twice so far and it deserves the support of anyone dying to experience something inspirational and unique.

I came here with friends to watch Rayuela Hacia EL Mas Alla. It was all in Spanish, but for those like me that only have 2 years of high school Spanish, there were subtitles projected on the top of the stage. The play was a dark comedy with a little bit of everything. It had humor, drama, terror, a love story and a "non-hollywood ending." Going in with an open mind and not knowing what the play was about, I was blown away. Parts of the play made me think of Guillermo Del Toros Pans Labyrinth and Kurt Vonnegut from my AP English class in high school. With its morbid beauty and dystopian setting. It amazed me how such a large story could be played out on such a small stage with just a few actors through the use of lighting, minimal props, and and the expression of those actors. Kudos to Laura Santa Cruz and Manuel Chitay for a wonderful performance. It was very creative how they used the same projector to animate the clocks and show the passage of time. As well as (not to give anything away) execute certain scenes. This play is very unique in the sense that every few weeks they change the ending and have a different actress. Which not only brings a different take on the story but keeps you coming back for more.

They have about 4 or 5 performances throughout the day but my advice is to get there early if you want a good seat. If the show has a start time of 1PM we would typically start waiting in line at around 12PM. Even then you probably won't be the first people in line but you will still get a good seat. Once the line starts getting long they start making people go up the ramp and start making line up there. Be aware if you start going up your whole party must be with you as they will not let anyone go up that is left downstairs. Be aware that in this are you must fill in all the empty space. People do try to cut to get to the front so just be aware of that. Once they open the doors you enter from all the way up top unless you are handicapped then you are let in downstairs. 2026 Season - April 4, 2026 - May 17, 2026…read more This visit applies strictly to the very last day of the season - May 17, 2026 As a first-timer to any Renaissance Pleasure Faire, there was a lot of anticipation on my part, having seen numerous videos on social media & YouTube. As always, I think the best policy is always to curb any & all expectations. Parking - Perhaps my biggest criticism of my entire experience. This is a rather specific situation that pertains strictky to ADA Handicap Parking. There is a specific lot that is designated for handicap parking - Lot 3 of the Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area (where the Ren Faire takes place). However, Lot 3 is situated farther than most parking = you have to walk much farther away than most of the other guests. It's ironic in that ADA Handicap Parking should allow you to be closer to the event's entrance. Perhaps the only advantage to parking in this distant lot is that your car will not be caught in the middle of the chaos of everyone else trying to leave. It very evident that this was an oversight when faire organizers made decision to have the event take place at Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area. If there's a way to modify this for future seasons, this would be the biggest improvement that they could make. FOOD Tri-Tip Sandwich ($18) - 6.0/ 10 It's to be expected, but you're definitely going to be paying for more than what you receive - inflation, labor costs, etc. That said, it's fairly hard to mess-up tri-tip. It's not necessarily dry, but the drizzle of bbq sauce helps. Frankly, I wished I asked for more bbq sauce (on the side). The tri tip is served in a roll that's slightly wider than a hot dog bun. It wasn't anything to "write home about", but it's seemed like a better option than most. 1 sandwich is only substantial enough to be a snack. Granted, I walked a good 10 minutes (to the jousting arena) before enjoying my sandwich, I think it would had been helpful if it was served much warmer. French Fries - 6.0 / 10 It's french fries. I will say that the portion is very generous. There was more than enough for me & my friend, so I'd even say it'd be enough fro 3-4 people, assuming it's being shared as a side. Again, maybe it's because I waited a good 10 minutes (buying a beer, walking over to the jousting arena) before enjoying the fries, but it might have been helpful if they could be served a bit warmer. They were still pretty crispy (more on the well-done side, which I prefer). Just some things to note (especially as a 1st timer): - Dress-Up. You're in the 16th Century / Elizabethan Era. So knights, nobleman, peasants, merchants, inn-keepers, plague doctors. But basically, in 2026 at least, anything that isn't "modern" (the past 100 years) is fair game. You can literally see almost anything & it wouldn't seem too out-of-pocket. Yeah, you'll get some strange looks & comments, but people get over it fairly quickly. Just dress-up. - Try to speak "in-character". Whatever it is that you decide to go as, try to "play the part". The volunteers / workers will respond to you accordingly & will "play along". Embrace it & have fun. - The focus of the faire is the shops. That's fine. Get your shopping-on & support these vendors. But there's also many games / activities (archery, axe throwing, dunk tank, how long you hang on a bar, etc.), manually-powered rides, performance shows, & craft activities (making chain mail, sewing, casting coins, & other cool stuff). Like anything else, you get what you put in. Bring your enthusiasm & pack your patience. Also knowing what I know now, I'm definitely going to focus more on my next visit with more investment in my costume (granted I came dressed as a humble peasant).
