We came for crawfish and have been here 10+ years ago when they were in bellaire with the green roof! Came back this past weekend for crawfish. This is for Solely the crawfish. Pro's : seasonings hit like what I remember. Cons: I'm pretty good at boiling my own crawfish and could tell they mixed some frozen with live-ones... we ordered over 5 ibs and at least 2ibs seemed frozen just from stiffness of the crawfish when peeled and rubbery texture chewing them. My new go-to crawfish joint. They have long tables that are great for large parties and the EDM music and lights keep the vibe young while being kid-friendly. Love all the crawfish flavors equally; truly can't pick a favorite. The Kitchen Special has a citrusy tang due to the lemons and oranges used in the recipe while the Thai Basil is well balanced without the basil overpowering all flavors. The flavors here are not as salty as other places also which is a huge plus to me. For the wings, we tried lemon pepper, Thai sweet chili, and Viet style (fish sauce). The fish sauce ones were my favorite. We got 2 lbs of crawfish of their "kitchen special", thai basil, and garlic butter flavors. The kitchen special was by far my favorite flavor. I got medium spice but it was not spicy at all. My batch had a ton of big pieces but there were also quite a bit of crawfish that have been dead for awhile, but it was usually the smaller ones. Crawfish were perfectly cooked, season, and biggg. We ordered the Thai basil, kitchen special, and Cajun. Kitchen special was yummy but not as saucy and flavorful compared to the Thai basil. I always come here for the amazing crawfish, but recently the service hasn't been that great. I think they might have some new hires who aren't very attentive! The crawfish trash bowls overflows and no one comes to dump them unless we ask, which is unusual. There were no drink refills, no bite checks, and we had to personally get up and ask for the check. We also had to point out the happy hour special. The two young ladies are always talking or on their phones and not checking on guest. The music can often be loud as well. Having lived in Houston for many years, I make it a point to stop by here for crawfish whenever I return from my culinary food tours. I LOVE the crawfish here! The "Kitchen Special" sauce is one of the best creations for serving crawfish--it's a perfect blend of garlic, citrus, and spicy heat that gets me every time. The garlic noodles are also excellent--not greasy at all. However, the Alfredo noodles were disappointing, with a watery taste that I didn't enjoy. Note to self: probably not a great idea to order Alfredo noodles at a Cajun-Asian-inspired restaurant. Overall, though, it's always a great experience! The service is pretty much a hit or miss and most of the time that I have visited it's been a miss. Ambience wise it's a casual restaurant - could be pretty noisy and good for families. I used to come here a long time ago religiously during crawfish season, but after a while I took a break and checked out some current beloved crawfish favorites. I still enjoy crawfish here from time to time, and mainly for the kitchen special sauce as it's an awesome blend of citrus and garlic. One thing I will take some points away for is cleanliness off the overall restaurant. Floors and walls are a bit sticky, and yesterday I received two drinks with one of them being in a dirty cup and the other having some stuff floating in the water. When bringing this to the server's attention, drinks were quickly replaced with a smile. I completely understand this stuff happens, no big deal, but I felt it worth mentioning. Crawfish - 4/5 - I recommend crawfish here during peak season. When they can let them large/jumbo is the best time vs when they are smaller. I say this because there have been times where the crawfish has been too overcooked when eating here and it's a pain peeling / eating overcooked crawfish. Kitchen special is the sauce to choose, and they have all the way up to Cray Cray spicy level which is my personal fave. Our crawfish as of yesterday was a mix of jumbo/large - yum! Review is for order via Postmates. Nice that they have allergen options listed in app and I had no issues with a nut allergy. I got two Hungry Man's Baskets and Drink Bundles (BOGO / Buy One Get One Free via app). One was shrimp, oysters, and crawfish and the other was chicken, catfish, and tilapia so I got to try most of the options. Despite being only a few blocks away, condensation and steaming of the fried seafood caused significant sogginess in the delivered boxes. The fried oyster was the most "fishy" tasting. I don't think I'd order those again. I enjoyed the shrimp maybe the most. They were large and de-tailed already. The crawfish was normal but a bit dry due to frying. Chicken tenders were nothing special. The catfish and tilapia were both soggy but otherwise as expected. The fries that came with the catfish and tilapia were much soggier than the fries that came with the smaller seafood. The fries had decent seasoning and were pretty salty. Drinks came very diluted and packed with ice. The crawfish and shrimp here are really good! I always get the one where they mix all the flavors... they put a lot of citrus, which really sets them apart from the competition. It really helps cut the salty fattiness and adds a whole other dimension to the flavor. Peeling a shrimp and dipping it back in the sauce and topping it with a quarter round of that cooked lemon... whew! It's the perfect bite. I really liked the onions and peppers that were included with the juice. It added more flavor. The potatoes were very small. The crawfish were a decent size and the turkey necks (served in 4 small pieces) was super tender. I wish I could've received the turkey neck in the boil or at least selected flavoring for it. Not considering the price and just basing it of reg price and flavor it's soso. Super excited there is Oregon crawfish though. Oregon crawfish 4/5 Crawfish themselves are big and claws were huge. Cooked well. As they stated Oregon crawfish has a cleaner taste. Basil mussels 3/5 I really like the garlic in this. It's a bit sweet and tangy. The mussels were a bit shriveled. It was a decent dish. Tom yum mussels 2/5 This was a light soup broth. A tad spicy and light. Wasn't the flavor for me. Garlic noodles 1/5 The flavor was very fishy. Not a lot of flavor. The food here is really good but there is a waiter there that is so rude :(. This was my favorite crawfish spot so I wanted to have my birthday dinner here. I called ahead and made a reservation unfortunately my full party didn't arrive at the same time so I called a bit before to extend the reservation to later. When we sat down the sweetest girl took our order and before ordering I asked if we could split the check (I used to be a waitress and wanted to make splitting check as easy as possible) the sweet girl told me yes and we proceeded to order. When we first got there we were one of a few tables but the only larger party seated (we were a party of 10 expecting 3 other guests). Towards the end we go to pay and she brings the check and it's all combined. On a normal day I wouldn't mind paying with one card but since it was my birthday I had other plans and was on a bit of a time crunch so trying to do a bunch of math and figure out a tab was something I didn't necessarily want to do. A man ends up coming over (he was not our waiter) and telling us we have to pay the ticket together. I told him that I asked the nice woman before we started eating and she agreed he very rudely said it's policy and his system doesn't allow him to split checks. The software they use is toast and I know for sure you can split checks so he lied to my face. My cousin who was there is also a manager at a restaurant and they use toast so he offered to split the checks for them to help but the man said no again. The woman was so sweet and she was trying to talk to him about it and he basically shooed her away (he literally used his hand and shooed her. His tone with us was no better. He was rude and very dismissive, we ended up using one card and the sweet girl came over and apologized and basically said he wouldn't split the check because they got busy. Fast forward to another experience. A good friend of mine wanted to eat here for her birthday since the food is so good. She called ahead of time and asked if they could split the checks when she made her reservation. Person on the phone said no problem. So we show up and right when we walk in the same guy is there and is immediately rude. He was yelling for the next people to be seated and we were the only ones there. Then my friend told him she had a reservation and he said they don't have any reservations today. She told him the name of the person she spoke to and he said he doesn't have anyone there by that name. He told us he was going to try to find us a table and then walked away as if he was inconvenienced. He found us a table outside and instead of coming to tell us he just waved his hand at us to come sit. We go out there and my friend confirms that the person she spoke to said we could split the check. The man said they didn't have anyone by the name she gave and told us we can't split checks. It was really annoying that we tried to pre plan for something and were told we could be accommodated only to end up being bullied and spoken to so rudely not once but twice. I'm in customer service and I know the way you treat paying customers and this was not it at all. I put off writing a review because I never want to cause issues or bad mouth anyone but the fact that it happened twice didn't sit well with me. Idk what this man's issue is but I hope someone talks to him about his demeanor and he changes the way he acts towards people. I'm going to have to just place to go orders now :( read more
