Welp, we officially have a new favorite bakery! If you know anything about me, you know I'm a complete and utter sugar fiend, so finding the best bakeries is an absolute hobby of mine. I was over at Byrdhouse Books and saw this bakery across the street so obviously I had to stop in. It's a small space and they were super duper busy so it was fairly crowded but now I understand why - their pastries are PHENOMENAL! I got the Valentine's Day mix with white chocolate - so addicting. They also have layered cake trifles that were to die for. Their buttered pecan cookie sandwich is hands down the best cookie sandwich I've ever had. The butter pecan pound cake is mine and my mom's favorite. However, all their cakes and cupcakes are moist and made with love. You can also place your own cake order here. The store is so aesthetically pleasing and the cases are well organized. Always well stocked and plenty of unique flavors like white chocolate almond and key lime. I've tried numerous cupcake flavors, weekly flavors included and can say I've never tried something I didn't like. The pounds cakes are a big favorite of mine though - can't beat their five flavor! We wish the long list of great specialty flavors were advertised or known in advance because their cake tasting procedures for wedding cakes requires you to buy cupcakes and it's a bit complicated. Overall the cake is light and moist. We love the chocolate with peanut butter frosting, and the standard almond vanilla cake. I've messed up their names but the flavors are right. Cookies and cream felt like a muffin, we enjoyed key lime, red velvet was as expected. Macarons are ok - tiramisu and salted caramel were our faves here! I tried this bakery twice to try to give them a fair chance. It is just not my cup of tea. There are lots of bakeries in the area and this one does not stand out to me. I bought a brownie for Valentine's Day. It was in a metal tin. It was over baked and so hard that my fork broke off trying to get into it. I had to press it out of the tin which was disappointing but the only positive aspect was how cutely decorated it was. It looked pretty but was over baked and not tasty. I've had the macarons, cupcakes, cookies, and cookie sandwiches and loved each! They taste like quality, it's consistently great, and there's a variety of flavors to choose from. Depending on what you get though, it may be a bit overpriced for the size offering and item. Not a price range I can justify frequenting often. Maybe just to pick up as a treat-yourself thing or a special occasion. Their custom cakes and cupcakes, for instance, would impress and you could probably feel great about the price you pay for it. I've been there twice in the last month and a half and have noticed the staff does not require or wear masks in their store. Take that feedback as you will. Parking is very limited and on the intersection of a fairly busy four-way light. It's also one-way, so pulling in can take a little finessing and can be fairly inconvenient depending on what time you visit. The flavor is delectable and the size of the cupcakes are ginormous. Perfect pairing if you ask me! The have their standard flavors like butter pecan, chocolate buttercream, whites chocolate almond, strawberry and the list goes on, but they have a rotating flavor of the week which is always fun. Their other delicious treats are great too! They range from cookie sandwiches, chocolate covered marshmallows, pound cake to lemon bars and brownies. Literally everything I've tried is golden. My favorite non-cupcake treat is the sugar cookie sandwich. Covered in sprinkles and perfectly gooey. It just makes you smile. The staff here has always been nice, but be prepared to wait during the pandemic. They only allow 2 customers in the store at one time so there is always a line outside. Wow. Wow. Wow. Cakes and all things Yummy knocked it out of the park! We opted for a 3 tiered cake with 2 kitchen cakes for our guests for our wedding. The cakes were delicious and everyone raved about them. They also offer to make you a fresh cake on your one year anniversary as opposed to saving the top of your wedding cake! We asked for plain white cakes and our planner decorated them with florals. We had to pick up our cakes because they were booked for delivery the day of our wedding. The staff was super sweet in helping us load them into the car and easing our fears about driving the cakes. They had a heavy bottom so they didn't slide around in the car at all. The cakes kept well until the next day and guests loved them! They also have amazing cupcakes but sell out quickly so go in the mornings! The price was only about $40-60 more than getting a cake and cupcakes from Publix but the taste difference was WELL worth it. We will definitely be back just for dessert one day :) see y'all next year for our anniversary cake! read more

I had high expectations based on friends recommendations. I have visited many bakeries and the cupcakes here just are not up to the standards of others. Upon walking in, it was clean and busy, the workers are friendly, and it smells great. They are priced a little high but the cupcakes are large and there is a good variety. We tried 5 different ones today: Swiss miss, pineapple coconut, birthday cake, strawberry, and chocolate. Maybe it was because it was a Saturday or maybe it's just the way they are. The cakes were all dry and the icing tastes artificial. Even my daughter only ate a few bites. The strawberry cupcake has a very yummy seemingly authentic strawberry flavor. The birthday cake cupcake is sweet and delicious, but mostly like any standard vanilla cupcake with white (dyed blue) frosting. The frosting is very sweet, but if you are in the mood for sweet it is good. If you like your frosting more creamy and not as sugary, it is not for you. My husband is dinging the score down because of the high price for the cupcakes (almost $3), but in fairness to Cake and All Things Yummy, they are very BIG cupcakes. **Based on one, quick visit** SUMMARY: Pro's: tasty cupcakes, friendly staff, cute little place Con's: I didn't get to try the truffles =( Stopped in on Saturday on the way to a late lunch. They are only open till 2 on Saturday so we had to hit them first before they closed. LOCATION: very close to the N Main/Mountain intersection in downtown Kernersville. Parking is available at a couple of parking areas nearby. FOOD: All I can personally comment on is the cupcakes; and more precisely the Key Lime and the Red Velvet ones. They both were very good with the Key Lime being excellent. I'm not sure how the maintained the sharp, citrusy bite of the lime but they did. They were both very big and gorgeously decorated - someone spent some time on these. I ended up cutting mine in half and eating it during two sessions. There must have been over 20 choices to pick from. In terms of selections, the truffle options were even more amazing. I didn't try any (unfortunately) but there were tons and they looked great and were elegantly decorated as well. In my quick browse, I did also see a lot of other items pre-boxed for sale. 5 Stars for the cupcakes. SERVICE: As soon as we walked in, we got a greeting and an inviting smile. Both staff members that helped us were very friendly and professional. 4 Stars for service. VALUE: Our cupcakes, with tax came to 5 bucks and change. I don't often buy cupcakes but $2.50 seemed each more than fair to me given their quality, size and looks. They also retail a few gift-type items and we picked up a decorated wine stopper for an upcoming birthday and that was about 30 bucks so...shrug. 4 Stars for cupcakes, at least. ATMOSPHERE: It is open with a lot of floor space to move around. It was very neat and clean and well organized. This bakery is alright. It definitely isn't the worst experience I've had, but I also don't understand all the hype. The pound cake is nice and moist and the portion is huge. I also ordered 2 cupcakes to sample: the "flavor of the week," which was vanilla latte and a white chocolate almond. Again, the portions are huge. The ratio of buttercream to cake is pretty good (I could do with less, but I enjoy cake more than icing and most people seem to be the opposite). The cake itself was not too dry. The vanilla latte cupcake was actually really delicious. The coffee buttercream was great and you could see specks of vanilla in the cake itself. I wish a different variety of icings were available (Swiss meringue, Italian meringue instead of all American bc). I only have 2 complaints. While the cake is baked well, it tastes like it comes from a mix. This could be in my head, but it really does taste like I could get a Betty Crocker box and make the same thing at home for much cheaper. My main issue is really with the icing. White icing looks nice, but it's made with shortening and not butter. Ditch the shortening and use real ingredients, please. It would be much better to get a smaller cupcake made with real butter and homemade cake/icing than a humongous cupcake with mediocre ingredients for the same price.
