Stepping in here made me feel like Alice in Wonderland. The unassuming exterior opens up into high, industrial-like ceilings and rooms upon rooms of vintage/boutique gifts. I'm not sure if they do consignment style shops within the gift shop, or if it's all under the same business, but it's arranged in a bunch of mini sections that all kind of have a different aesthetic. It was a bit maze-like, but I have no doubt they sell something in here for everyone. Like the gift shop, the bakery had huge variety. Who knew there were so many types of cake? I ended up getting a carrot cake latte and a heart shaped macaron. It was only after I had ordered my latte with oat milk, checked out (including paying the up-charge for oat milk), and waited several minutes that they told me they were out of oat milk. This was disappointing, as I paid my extra for the oat milk, yes, but also because I don't really want a latte in general without it. Regardless, it was too late, so I just told them to do it with 2%. The latte was okay but I didn't love it. It mostly tasted sweet and like cinnamon. Which I guess is more or less what carrot cake tastes like? The menu said it came with a cream cheese cold foam or whipped cream (I don't remember which) but it came out with plain whipped cream. The espresso was a little bitter - maybe burnt or shocked. The macaron was gorgeous, but didn't have a macaron taste or texture. It was hard like cookie. A macaron should be light and airy, and the shell should almost collapse under a bite. I had to chomp through this one. I am not sure if it was stale, a bad batch, or if their "macarons" are just "macaron shaped cookies" by design. read more

Really cute bakery with a great atmosphere. You can smell all the fresh baked treats before you even get to the front door, and everything smells amazing. They bake everything from scratch and have a big variety of cakes, pies, and other desserts, so there's plenty to choose from. I also loved the little trinkets around the shop--it adds to the whole experience. A slice of cake is a little pricey, but the selection and quality make it worth checking out. When I first walked into this place, it was like bakery heaven. You are immediately engulfed in the sweet smells of butter, sugar, and chocolate. It is more than a bakery. It is a boutique, coffee, and candy shop. There were like 12 freshly baked cakes that you could choose from. They also have pies and cookies. Plus they give all first timers a free cookie. It is just an absolutely amazing experience. I was in love with this place. In the back of the shop is a cute little outside area where you can sit and enjoy your pastries on a beautifully decorated patio under umbrellas. This entire place is just a vibe. Everyone just seems so excited and happy to be there. The employees are just as nice and pleasant. I ordered a slice of German chocolate cake, a slice of cheesecake, peanut butter and cowboy cookies, a slice of this pie, I think it was called Slap pie. It is like a chocolate pudding pie with coconut, nuts, and chocolate chips. I also ordered a slice of pecan pie. The cookies were very soft, tender and extremely flavorful. They were my favorite. The Slap pie was OK. I think it was just not my kind of dessert, but I'm glad I tried it. The German chocolate cake was also delicious. The icing had a creamy texture that is different from other German Chocolate Cakes that I've tried but not in a bad way, just a different texture. To finish out this weeks personal coffee tour, I decided to try out Dot and Pearls Coffee and Pastries, as it was the only thing open on Sunday morning. I was a little bit confused upon entering, having done no research on the establishment at all. When you walk in, there is a full service bakery and boutique(?) goods store. After browsing the entire store and coffee selection, I ordered the Honey Bun Latte with oat milk. It was lacking in pretty much all departments but milk. The espresso was slightly bitter, and I tasted no brown sugar to ease this flavor. They had a fantastic selection of cakes, and many were tempting although I did not order any this time. I can tell that the baked goods is really where this place shines. The workers were friendly, though it did take a while for my order to get started and be ready. I would probably not return for coffee, but might stop in for a slice of cake if in the area. read more

Visited this gem bakery for the first time today. It smells amazing when you walk in. They have several cakes and cookies it's honestly hard to choose. I ended up with a red velvet slice and a biscoff cookie cake slice . Thanks to the young lady for finding a slice of biscoff it's very popular and the wait was long for the next cake . Living only 10 minutes from this place, I should be on punishment but I'm not because honestly, this place is gonna make me a big back. The line was to the door, so I already knew it's must have something worth waiting in line for. There were cakes, pies, cookies, brownies, crisp and cinnamon rolls..... they were SOOOOO many options, they were super nice and helpful. I got the apple pie cinnamon rolls. That thing was amazing! My son got some chocolate chip cookies, he said they were pretty good, nice and soft. I am a fan. Stumbled upon this adorable shop and bakery. Talked to Dawn about possibly ordering our wedding cake and the Tia is out of this world. She suggested and could not have been more spot on. My fiance "got goosebumps" first bite (he has a bit of a sweet tooth lol). The gift shop is also super cute and I feel like I could buy one of everything, so nostalgic. I visited Dots and Pearls for the first time on Saturday Oct 5 around 5:30pm and they were super busy. Most bakeries I know typically close around 5-6pm on a Saturday but you would have thought the doors just opened for the day! I love it!!! The selections were outstanding. They have almost every kind of dessert you can think of, cakes, cookies, pies, dessert bars, honeybuns, cheesecake and the list goes on. You must see the place for yourself you will be in total awe. And they were putting out fresh items so if they ran low on a cake they would put the last slice in a container but then put out a fresh whole cake. And unlike some other bakeries who have the same concept you aren't waiting in line 30 mins or more to get checked out. The line was long but man it was moving. We didn't get pictures because we were too busy trying to limit ourselves to just two items each. I've been here several times over the years and honestly liked it more when there was a larger store area to browse. The cakes are fine--everyone raves about them--but for me, nothing compares to my grandmother's baking. Doris Hiatt, my grandmother, was the best, and her cakes set a high bar that this place just doesn't quite reach. That said, the staff here are always warm and welcoming, and they genuinely seem happy to help. It's a pleasant spot overall, but I do wish there were a bit more seating. Well there was an older lady that was working the register prior to him that come by and snatched up the cookie and said oh she's not a first timer and the gentleman said well actually she is so he retrieved the cookie from her I really don't understand I was not expecting a free cookie. I'm not sure how I've never stopped by here, being born and raised in HP, but yesterday, I had my chance! The bakery had a rush as soon as I walked in, and the staff was super friendly and helpful, which you don't see a lot these days. I picked up a slice of Red Velvet, Caramel, and Strawberry cake. Red Velvet: Hands down my favorite, and it made sense that there was only one slice left. I'm not a fan of what I think was pecans in the icing, especially since I wasn't expecting it; however, the cake itself was amazing! And in my opinion, a classic red velvet is hard to do! (9.1/10) Caramel: This slice tasted like yellow cake with a layer of very sweet caramel and iced in caramel icing. I'm a fan of caramel, so it wasn't too overwhelming, but I can't say I was blown away. (6.8/10) Strawberry: Strawberry is another tough one to accomplish because you have the option of a natural strawberry or artificial. I could tell by the pinkness of the cake that it was artificial, which is totally fine, but there's a fine line that comes with the artificial flavoring. For me, it was too artificial and did not have enough natural flavoring coming through. I've come across some really amazing strawberry cakes, so this one just didn't hit the mark for me. (4/10) All of the cakes had fantastic texture and moisture, and overall, I was well-pleased! I would definitely recommend and visit again. read more

OMG. Go. Just go. Everything is amazing. We started going here on the regular as an outing during the pandemic. Now it's a NEED. I've not had a bad thing here. In fact, some of the things I don't usually like are amazing from here. Cowboy cookies - they have multiple ingredients I'm not a fan of, but from here - heavenly! Christmas cake - not something I would have tried on my own likely but my son got it thinking it was cherries, not cranberries. He wouldn't eat it so I couldn't let it go to waste - and now it's one of my favorite cakes from here. Officially my favorite local bakery. So like I said...GO!
