We tried 3 separate times to come and there was a line out the door every time. This isn't a bad thing, but something I did want to point out! I'm also writing this in the middle of June which is pretty peak tourist season for Branson, I think. We first went around 4pm, then drove by around 7:30, then finally got in line and waited starting at 10:00pm. We ordered about 20 minutes later, I'd say? You order at what looks like the dessert counter and they send you on to pay and order drinks where the actual cash register is. Another thing to note! All card transactions have a (I believe) 3.8% fee, so it might be a good idea to bring cash. The food was honestly pretty mediocre bordering on not good, but I'm still glad we came and tried it! The beer batter fries were really good, especially with the nacho cheese to dip them in. The other food (pizza, burgers, chicken strips, tater tots) felt pretty high school cafeteria-y to me. We didn't order any desserts, so I can't speak to the quality of those, but they all looked really good! One last thing - this place is LOUD. It's not huge and there are a lot of people, plus an arcade, so it makes sense. There's also a loudspeaker that they call orders over. Just something to be aware of for folks who are sensitive to noise. I do recommend trying it once for the ambience if nothing else! It's a super cute little place that shoots you back in time to the '50s and a great place for a cute little date. read more

First time here and would definitely return. I had the chicken pot pie which was fantastic. Fresh and the crust was outstanding. Wife had a cheese burger and she said it was very fresh and juicy. We stopped in here for dessert after a show. This is one of a few places actually open to eat after shows and we were impressed. We stopped for dessert but they also served diner food too and it looked delicious. The traditional banana split was a hit for the hubby's. My sister said her sundae was perfect and my funnel cake with ice cream was delicious. It came out still warm and crisp topped with a scoop of ice cream and fudge. Really neat diner-themed restaurant! Ended up just getting a hot fudge sundae. It had vanilla ice cream, nuts, whip cream, hot fudge sauce, and a cherry. It tasted great and all those components in the sundae went together quite nicely. The service was also great, as the sundae was made pretty fast despite there being a line. After reading all the reviews we decided to check out Cakes & Creams. Disappointed to say the least. I had a Patty melt and fries and hubby had the chili frito pie. Warning to all Texans reading this post - the chili has beans! Being from the Midwest I don't mind chili with beans but my husband and most Texans do not think beans should be in chili. So he wasn't happy. My Patty melt was nothing special - the bread was toasted on the cooktop so it was soggy and the onions kinda melted into the bread - gave it a different texture for sure. So where do you go to grab lunch in Branson on a dreary, winter day during the off-season when many restaurants aren't even open? We drove to numerous places that had inaccurate hours on their listings only to find they weren't even open despite what their listing indicated. Finding Cakes & Creams was nearly an accident but we were so fortunate to find this gem of a diner. It was a great experience. After spending a delightful few days vacationing at The Cliffs at Long Creek in Ridgedale, MO, we were heading out to travel back to home and we drove through Branson on our way wanting to find a nice place for lunch. As I mentioned, finding this diner was almost a last resort but turned out to be very enjoyable. It's a remarkably accurate representation of your 50's Diner, you know, the kind your grandparents probably went to. There was the jukebox (replete with booth boxes to flip through the song list and play the songs you want at $.25 a pop), the black and white checkered floor tile, plenty of 4 seater booths and vintage looking paraphernalia adorning the walls. There was even an attached game arcade with all sorts of electronic games to entertain the kids and adults alike. The menu is displayed all along the back wall of the order/counter area. Burgers, Chicken Strips, Fries, Tots, Grilled Cheese sandwiches, pies, ice cream... everything you'd expect from a diner. There were three of us in our party. Two of us ordered burgers, one with onion rings, one with tater tots and my burger was a double while the other was a single. Both came with tomato, lettuce and onion fixings. I was expecting a thin patty which seems to be the norm these days but no, these. burgers were thick and large. A double burger was very filling. The side of tots was very generous. The burgers were good but could have been even better if they were charcoal grilled rather than griddle fried, but not really a complaint, just an observation. My wife ordered a Grilled Cheese sandwich with onion rings and she reported that it was good. the onion rings were real onion slices, not diced up and reformed into a ring. I had a chocolate malted milkshake which was large and awesome. We also ordered a coconut cream pie. Not so good and that was the weak spot of the experience. But other dessert choices looked better as there were several types of pie, cheesecake and ice cream choices. This restaurant even has a large "drive-in theater" screen outside behind the building. Apparently that is put to use in the summer months. We enjoyed the diner experience. The music playing was straight ahead 50's music, the atmosphere was true diner and we'd come back for sure. This place is pretty good. The parking lot is a bit of a pain. A few of the workers here are super friendly. Everything here was pretty good. Wife had the patty melt and it was really good and the burger had a good flavor. Son had a pizza slice and it was also good surprisingly. Dad has the chicken strips which were also good. I had the bbq sandwich and it was actually fantastic. Brisket was awesome, great sauce and bun. Quite surprised of how good it was. The jute box was also pretty cool. We tried to request a song from our table but it didn't work. Wife went to tell the guy upfront and he promptly gave us the money back and my son an ice cream cone.
