They take good care of you and always have the best intel for best viz! Hot tub and warm showers after a full meal sweeten the deal.

I absolutely love coming out on the Spectre! Escape LA for the day. Dive into nature and get a chance to admire our bountiful coastal marine ecosystems from above and below. Exploring golden kelp forests with shimmering green eel grass in the shallows and catching glimpses of curious harbor seals or diving deeper into these rocky and sandy sites and finding so much more. Bring your fishing licenses and a bag and a spear and catch some of what's in season if that's your fancy. The whole experience is fun, well coordinated and easy to arrange. Sometimes I rent a full kit instead of lugging my own gear back and forth and their equipment is always reliable and easy to set up. The captain and crew freakin' rock. Ted in the main office is always helpful -whether you're booking over the phone or if you forgot some gear on the boat (I have left gear/clothing on the boat once or twice), Ted makes trouble shooting a breeze. Highly recommend.

Simply the best dive boat in Southern California. The crew is amazing and the captain always finds great dive spots. What an enjoyable day.

Capt Nate knows the islands and manages to find the best dive spots. I had low expectations due to weather but the sites were great. Great crew and food.

Everyone in Santa Barbara and vicinity was booked for a solid month and I needed to get certified within two weeks. Sheri patiently listened to my story and next day (after putting out some desperately-seeking-instructor messages), connected me with a fantastic instructor (Michael Francisco). Located on Catalina Island. LOL! I had not intended to make this extra three-day trip so close to my 2 week vacation, but hey... you do what you gotta do. And it was a truly educational and beautiful experience, which accomplished my goal and that I would not have known was an option had it not been for Sheri.  She also made a great recommendation for a scuba diving vacation location, which my instructor echoed. I went with their idea and was gifted an incredible diving trip. Sheri and my instructor continue to give me pointers about all kinds of things scuba-related and I am very grateful to have literally, stumbled upon such great resources. Thank you for all of your amazingness, Sheri and Michael!

The gentleman who runs it is a very experienced diver and an all around nice guy. One of those guys who just makes you feel good to be around him. He puts together a variety of great trips. While he doesn't own the boats we go out on, he charters the boat, plans the trip, and seems to find interesting things that I wasn't able to find on other trips. Back when I lived in California I did both single day and multi-day trips around the Channel Islands. I had a uniformly great time every time I hit the water with him. Now that I live in the East Coast I'm still able to go diving with CIDA because he puts together trips out here at well. Next up -- North Carolina for a Megalodon Shark Tooth and Wreck Diving trip. His prices are VERY reasonable, and his service is just fantastic. His website has a ton of information, not just about his trips, but about the areas in California where he dives. If you're looking for a great trip and an all around great time check out CIDA. If you sign up for one of his trips outside of Cali you might even see me there.

There were so many great moments and high points, including a playful pod of dolphins that leaped in and out of the boat's wake (and alongside us); kayaking among a large nursery of leopard sharks, both babies and adults; in one of the sea caves, the phosphorescence was lit up like a bright neon blue light along one wall of the cavern; and finally, snorkeling in a gorgeous kelp forest was beyond words! Their dive boat, the Peace, is relatively small but comfortable and well-designed. The captain is friendly, competent, and very knowledgeable about local dive areas. Ditto for the crew. The boat offers EAN up to 32% from a membrane system, and also air. Tank rentals are also available. There's plenty of room for gear, cameras, etc., and a charging station for electronics. A highlight of the trip is the food, which is outrageously good and plentiful. The normal menu is *two* breakfasts, lunch, and sit-down served dinner, plus snacks and drinks. It's BYOB, but plenty of room to store it. The boat even has a tiny but fun hot tub! It's a blessing for wet-suit divers, but fun for everyone as well. The price is about $500 for 2 1/2 days, but that gives you at least 9 dives. I squeezed in 12! In Monterey, you pay $90 for *two* dives (and no food). Nitrox is extra; usually runs $75. Cons (minor): The crew is low-key, so you sometimes have to ask for help. The bunkroom is also small; this is not a big tropical liveaboard!
