I just wanted to share my experience that we recently had with Cal Loans Direct. My fiance and I were very interested in getting away from our FHA loan and into a conventional 30 year fixed. Mainly we wanted to cut down on the extra mortgage insurance and to take advantage of the current rates while they were still at historical lows so I gave Tom a call. His office was nice and clean, he was very professional taking calls from us after our regular work hours, his co-workers were easy to deal with and we ended up locking in our refinance with Quicken Loans through Tom's company. I was looking at a loan through JFQ but a friend of mine referred me to Tom at Cal Loans and I am SO happy he did! I was looking to take advantage of the crazy low rates and refinancing my primary home and taking out some money to do a kitchen remodel, but in addition I also wanted to do a straight re-fi on my 2nd home. I already had started the process with JFQ but when I asked what Cal Loans could do, Tom was so nice and easy and responsive to work with, and the pricing was SO good, I put the loan process with JFQ on hold. Tom not only was nice, easy and responsive, but between the 2 loans I was working he saved me THOUSANDS in fees! I promise you I am not exaggerating here! I compared apples to apples and the ironic thing was both JFQ and Cal Loans used the exact same lender! So it was purely because JFQ is huge and has a ton of overheard that their fees were completely jacked up. Mind you...I have a very high FICO score, have a ton of equity in both properties, have lived in the same primary home for over 20 years, and been on the same job for over 10 years, and provided all required docs as quickly as he asked for them...all factors that help me in a loan process. I tried to do a refi with my current lender, but their fees were high, and I quickly became frustrated with the person I was dealing with (she didn't understand why I couldn't fill out a locked pdf ).
