Unfortunately, his tone was condescending, dismissive, and completely unprofessional--not what you'd expect from someone representing a financial service at this level. When I asked reasonable questions about how the so-called "discounts" were being applied--especially since I was paying points--I wasn't given a clear breakdown. Instead, I was told things like, "Come on brother, we're on Earth, not Mars," and accused of expecting a "0% rate." These are the broker's own words. That kind of sarcasm isn't just unprofessional--it's evasive and disrespectful when a client is simply seeking transparency. The branch owner went on to say, "Please don't take it offensive, just when you're working with someone who is really smart, really educated, and knows what they're doing..." That line perfectly illustrates the issue. Rather than providing a respectful, informative response, he leaned on self-promotion and credentials to dismiss valid concerns. Education and experience may be valuable--but they are no substitute for clarity, professionalism, or basic customer service. For the record, I never mentioned my own background--nor did I need to. I rely on legal professionals to review financial agreements. What I expected was a clear, honest dialogue--not arrogance and deflection. This could have been a straightforward and productive process. Instead, the lack of transparency, combined with an unprofessional tone/harassment, made it an easy decision not to proceed. I was working with Trusted Mortgage Capital on a VA IRRRL. Zach Spalding started out great then failed to meet deadlines he provided and went days without responding to me. I turned down other offers to focus on his just to find out he left thousands of dollars out of the offer (deliberately) then played stupid when I called him on it. Basically, proceed with caution. Any brokerage/broker that gives you a loan estimate and deliberately leaves thousand of dollars off the final number is incompetent and not to be trusted. read more

By far the best mortgage company I have yet to work with. I was told that I would not qualify for more than $100,000 cash out even though I had more than 350k in equity in my home.
