I got my first tattoo here today by Sneax. It was a pawprint of my deceased dog. Sneax was very friendly and told jokes during the session. As it was my first, I was extremely nervous but he put me at ease pretty instantly and it hardly hurt at all, and we were finished in 20 minutes. He was also patient with me as I decided where exactly I wanted it and how to angle it. I love the tattoo; it was a great idea to memorialize my pet. I got my septum re-pierced with Jesse since the last piercer didn't adjust my jewelry change and it fell out. Jesse was kind and helpful, he explained to me what the process would be like and depending on any scarring on wether or not he would be able to. I've gone in the past for Friday the 13 but this one by far was the best experience. The line for tattoos are really long so I recommend bringing chairs, snacks, and a friend. While my friend was getting pierced, I would stay in line & vice versa to secure our spot in line. The piercing line is really short and probably takes a max of 30 mins depending on what you want to get done. My piercer didn't ask me what kind of earring I wanted until after she pierced me with standards and I was pretty upset with that because I was willing to upgrade to diamonds. I love the ladies in the front helping out with the piercings, they're so accommodating, reasonable, and nice. It is cash only so don't forget to stop by the atm before you go! So I've been looking to get my second and third piercings on my lobe and been searching for places on yelp and friends recommended, cal state crew come up. I ended up following a girl that pierces there on IG and per her bio, she states to DM for appointments. I did as her bio requested and she did reply, eventually. She said she had an appointment available for tomorrow (today 4/5/19) at 5:15pm. I said that that worked for me and then she said she would message me back to confirm. I said "okay thank you". She saw the message, and has yet to reply. It's now 4/5/19 @ 6:24pm. I happened to stop by last night at about 8pm and there were two men and a girl in the shop that worked there. No customers, just them. The place was dark, but it had an Open sign lit up. I walked in, they were eating right in the front, and just stared at me. I asked if I could get my piercings and the guys looked at the girl on the couch that was on her cell. I'm assuming she was the piercer, but didn't look like her IG pic, so I didn't know for sure. They ask her if she could, she looked at me and paused, then "kindly" nodded saying "sure". After they told me it would be $100 for the 4 lobe piercings, I said I'll think about it, they laughed as if they didn't think I had that kind of money. I had over $200 cash on me so that rubbed me the wrong way. I was disappointed in the whole crew being a new potential customer. If you're on your "dinner break" then close the shop or at least eat in the back. As for the piercer, if it was the same girl that I messaged on IG, clearly you weren't busy, you just didn't want to respond to my message. Don't worry Cal State, you won't be getting my money and I will not recommend you to anyone. read more

Let me just start by saying my experience certainly wasn't bad, there were just some aspects that weren't the best. The piercer was nice, and very patient with my anxiety getting my nipples pierced. The actual piercing wasn't bad at all! And very reasonably priced. But she told me it would be fine for me to drink, smoke, and swim right away afterwards-all of which I'd heard from others NOT to do. She also didn't give me detailed instructions on aftercare, but did give me a card with her contact info which was helpful. Fast forward 3 weeks and one of my piercings is really acting up so I DM her on Instagram-she answers but gives short and slightly vague answers, and when I asked a second question she outright ignores me. I want to give her a better rating but she just wasn't super helpful about taking care of my piercings after the fact. Now I might have an infection and will have see another piercer to make sure I'm fine. But the initial piercing service was great! Just make sure you know what you're doing for aftercare Update: she decided to be passive aggressive and reply to this yelp review on Instagram and was quick to deny any responsibility for things I didn't blame her for. I took my time to reply so what I was firm but not mean, and then she chose to be petty and make snarky remarks to me, telling me shes blocked me. Go to tattoo shop. Billy took care of processing us and sneax drew up our tattoos. My best friend and I went together. Billy did hers on her upper forearm and Sneax did mine on my wrist. This is my first visible tattoo and I am more than pleased. From my experience, Sneax doesn't have a heavy hand. I walked in about 1:15 today, and was out in about 15 minutes. I went in the get my Navel pierced, signed a paper, went to the back and got it done super quick. It wasn't particularly painful. Probably a 3, if 1 is maybe a bit of pressure and 5 is hitting your ankle with a razor scooter. The woman doing it wasn't particularly nice, more like indifferent, which didn't bother me, I kind of enjoyed she wasn't super chatty, as long as she knows what she's doing and isn't being rude. Told me briefly about the aftercare, and then told me to come back in a month for a checkup if I wanted to change my piercing. Was a total of $60 for the generic Navel piercing, and $10 for the saline solution. I'd come back again for another piercing or maybe even a tattoo. read more

My ears got swollen very painful and when I was supposed to be healed completely that's when my ears felt like they were gonna burst. Kyla is the piercer and she has done my: nipples, nostrils, septum, daith, and medusa. She is great! She explains everything to you verywell, cleans the sight up perfectly, makes sure you are 100% comfortable with the set up and placement of the piercing, and also explains the cleaning procedure great as well. All of my piercings I have gotten from her have never looked or felt better. I went in there a few days ago and she also gives tattoos! This place is amazing!! I had first heard of it from a few friends that got some work done there by SNEAX and the detail was so good I went straight there to start my design up for my arm sleeve. I sat down with SNEAX and gave basically just wrote a list of ideas that I wanted all incorporated into the sleeve and he went to work. He is great with keeping in communication with you about the design and if it's what you want. I would text him other ideas as they came to me and he would just update the design. It took about 2-3 months to get the full design and when he sent it to me I literally could not wait to get it started. I did 3 full day sessions with SNEAX and got it all done in about 2.5 months. The level of detail and precision he has with the needle is crazy. I still look at my tattoo and am in disbelief as to how detailed it is. This is by far my favorite piece that I have and it was well worth the time and money. I highly recommend SNEAX to anyone for any type of tattoo he can do it all. Shout out to Kyla who was really really cool when I asked her some questions about a nose ring for my wife. She was able to answer all my questions and hook me up with a new stud for her without her having to come in. I walked in and asked about getting a gem screwed in on my dermal because it fell off when I was doing my makeup. Alexa was standing up front and did not smile, gave me a bad look and was very rude. She said there would be a $10 service charge and I said that's fine. We proceeded to her section of the shop and I handed her my jewelry. She didn't even clean or sanitize the area where my dermal was or the jewelry. She grabbed her tool to screw the dermal in and proceeded to screw in the gem. She started twisting the gem in and kept twisting and twisting and then i started to feel pain! Then I started to feel the anchor move I said "Ouch this hurts!" And she didnt stop. No response from her whatsoever.Then she said "Oh your dermal anchor was loose and it fell out." I have had my dermal for years and this has NEVER happened. She brushed it off like nothing had just happened and told me "Well sometimes dermals can reject after years. It was like a crater." I could NOT believe what had just happened. This girl improperly screwed the gem on and twisted too many times so it TORE the skin which had healed over the anchor. She tore my piercing right out of my face! I couldnt believe it! Not only did she do that and cause me pain but she said my body "rejected" my piercing and that's why it came out of my face. I was distraught and upset and asked her if she was still going to charge me and she said no. She didn't even apologize afterward. read more

I've been to Cal State Crew twice- once over the summer to get a tattoo and last weekend to get my nose pierced (and also ended up getting a helix piercing done too!). The staff here are really friendly, chill, and helpful. When I first came in to talk about getting a tattoo done, the guy in the front talked through the whole process with me and gave me some hypothetical costs depending on how elaborate I wanted the design to be in the end. I really liked how he mentioned that he'd work with me to stay in my budget. I eventually got my tattoo done by Jason and he took note of all the little details I asked for when I showed him what design I wanted. I REALLY liked how it turned out and I am very satisfied with my first tattoo experience. Last weekend, I got my piercings done by Alexa (you can see her piercing work on her Instagram @alexaspiercings). She was really great about showing all the different nose jewelry and her recommendations. The nose piercing went so well that I decided to have my helix re-pierced (went to a meh place when I was 17 and had to let it close up). I told her an issue I had with my last piercing and she took that into consideration when she was figuring out where the new piercing should go. When she was finished, she took a picture of the piercings to show that they were all flat and positioned correctly. Really great experience and I'd definitely go back if I wanted to get something else done. Also,while there shouldn't be an issue with when you decide to come in for any of their services, it doesn't hurt to call in to make sure a tattoo artist or a piercer is available. I went in to get my septum pierced on Friday June 13th. They had a $20 piercing special and I was all about that. I was greeted, place was nice and clean and professional. Cynthia, my piercer spent a lot of time examining my nose to choose the best spot for my septum, which I liked. She said my nostrils were pretty small so she couldn't use a clamp, so she pierced me and it came out a little bit crooked. That is the only reason this isn't a 5 - star review. OTHER THAN THAT, I give this place 5 stars. Cynthia offered to re-pierce my septum that Monday and she did (with a clamp this time) and it came out perfect :) I would absolutely recommend this place for piercings. I felt virtually NO PAIN (and everyone says this is the most painful piercing) and zero noticeable swelling. read more

Got my double helix/lobes done by Alexa just the other day. She charged both of them for $40 (since mine were not entirely cartilage, she treated them as if they were lobes). I went ahead and upgraded the jewelry to opal flat back labrets so all in all both piercings cost me $60 (+tip) including jewelry. Keep in mind it's cash only as well. Alexa was awesome during the whole process. I had her change the positioning of the piercings a few times and she was completely patient with me. When it came to actually piercing me, she directed me to take a deep breath in and then slowly out. Very helpful. She's also very knowledgeable! After the piercings, I was bleeding a crap ton. I have multiple piercings on both of my ears and I already knew that I was susceptible to heavy bleeding in the ear area. This was surprising to Alexa but the entire time she was there to clean off the excessive bleeding until it stopped. I found that service to be very generous since I was probably there for 10 minutes for the cleaning of the blood alone. The whole time she was cleaning off the blood, she noticed my other piercings (mainly my lobes) and commented on the type of backing I was wearing. She gave some very good advice and I will be taking it into consideration for future body jewelry purchases. Also we went back and forth on why I am unusually bleeding a lot and came to the conclusion that I may be anemic. She also gave me tips on putting more iron into my body (she herself was anemic at one point). After the piercing she went ahead and gave me her business card along with $5 off my next piercing. Although she did give me aftercare instructions verbally, it would've been really nice if they handed out aftercare sheets. The size of the jewelry that was installed was also given to me verbally and that too would've been great if it were written down somewhere for me to remember - so I had to knock off a star for that. read more
