AAA dispatched out Cal-State for my battery issue. My battery started to go out at 6PM at night, and Cal-State came out right away. Anthony was my technician and he was great. He was very friendly & knowledgeable. Luckily I had only bought my battery 2 years ago, so it was still under warranty. Anthony changed the battery right away. I can't thank these guys enough for their tacit knowledge in tricky towing situations. AAA sent me another company first, but they couldn't figure out how to get the car on the bed. There was a problem with my car that hindered the rear wheel from rolling without damaging the vehicle. After the first company couldn't get it on, AAA called Cal-State Towing for a second opinion. The Cal-State dispatch lady on the phone said they might be able to get it on, and called me to verify why the first company couldn't do the job. She sends Brandon for the job. He took a quick look, and came up with the solution in mere seconds. One of the tricks of the trade. I don't want to give away their secret sauce, but I must say, it was clever. So simple, yet brilliant. Brandon got the car in he bed, he had a great attitude and was fun company for the 1.5-2 hour drive. I learned a lot about cars on that ride. He knows his stuff. Only downside was I had to wait forever, but that isn't their fault, it was a holiday weekend with so much action. Thank you Brandon, dispatch lady, and Cal-State towing! Update: As of 10-4-18 nothing has been done other than ordering the tonneau cover. Every single attempt to get in touch with the owner has fallen on deaf ears. The woman answering the phones is extremely rude, unprofessional, and condescending. How dare these people destroy my property, say they will fix it, then have the balls to dodge every call for over 2 years. The woman answering the phone will hang up on us when we call, has told us not to call back. What kind of business allows people to act that way when representing a company. All we want is the truck fixed or to be paid out so we can get it fixed as I highly doubt these people could change a tire let alone fix a bed, fix cab corners, paint, and install a tonneau cover. If I could give less than 1 star I would. This is the most unprofessional company I've dealt with in Bakersfield. Late last year my truck blew up and I needed it towed from Rosedale to shafter to a shop. I called AAA and they sent out these "professionals" the guy obviously had never dealt with a truck with a tonneau cover before as he towed the truck backwards (not on a flat bed as requested) and didn't strap down the cover. So on the way to shafter the wind caught the cover and destroyed it along with damaging the bed and the cab itself. The owner George and the manager at the time Michael came out to inspect my truck and said they were sorry and everything would be made right. Well after I got my new motor in the truck i contacted Michael. I was told again they would replace the tonneau and fix the damage to the bed and cab. After months of waiting (they said it wpild be a max of 2 ti 3 weeks) they finally call and say they can't find a tonneau like mine and would I accept a cheaper non paint matched one. I of course say not a chance. I wait another month or so and they finally get one in. It's still sitting at the shop as they won't fix the bed or cab so the cover won't sit right. Michael has since left the company and George dodges all calls and won't return messages. If you want your vehicle to arrive in one piece if suggest a real tow company and leave these unprofessional jokes where they belong, in their yard not screwing up peoples property. read more

My daughter called AAA for tow service. She received a call back from AAA informing her the tow truck would be there in 30 minutes. 5 HOURS LATER I CALLED AAA TO FIND OUT WHY SHE WAS STILL SITTING WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK! AAA called Cal-State Towing to find out what was taking so long. They failed to inform AAA that they cannot handle the call because they had only 1 driver and it would take hours. Well, it still took hours because they did not follow their contract with AAA. Along with my complaint to AAA about this unacceptable situation, I demanded they review Cal-State's performance history for possible cancellation of their contract. read more

First of all, somehow "Cal state towing" out of the east Bay Area (Hayward?) has gotten their reviews mixed in with Cal-state Towing out of Bakersfield. We used Cal State Towing in Bakersfield- a different company). Roger was wonderful and went so far and above what would have been expected. He towed our 63 Jaguar accross a field, a delicate job given the steering wasn't working. Then he managed to ease it threw an opening in the trees and into a tiny garage all without scratching it. He was really wonderful and even helped us try to get the hood open,something that hadn't been done in 40 years. And of course given the British design there was nothing straightforward about it. Just so you know it's not fair to blame tow truck operators when AAA screws up!, which they did. AAA submitted our request then cancelled it, despite the fact we didn't. Of course then the tow company gets blamed. But when they heard of the AAA screw up they were there very quickly to remedy it all. Roger was incredibly skilled in navigating difficult terrain and was so pleasant and helpful. Highly recommended!!! read more

I called AAA for a tow and Cal-state towing took the call at 1:14 am. Cal-state towing excepted the job with a ETA of 1 hour and 30 minutes. I waited with the vehicle. by 2:45 am I called AAA back and was told the driver is refusing to provide me with service. Now its 3am and Cal- state towing is refusing service. The AAA representative was very confused, and I as well. Anyways long story short don't be me at 3 am waiting for this company. Cal state towing is not reliable, unprofessional, and down right scandalous. If service to my vehicle was going to be denied they should have denied service at the time service was required. not 2 hours + later. I was literally on the side of the rode with 3 children @ 3 am waiting on cal state towing to refuse me service after excepting the service call from AAA 2 plus hours before denying the tow. I'm so confused on how this company is contracted by AAA to provide services. Don't waste you energy with a towing company like Cal state towing. This whole situation is beyond words. Eddie, our tow truck driver was exceptional, first and foremost. We were on I-5 heading south, 10:30pm at night, in the middle of nowhere ,in complete darkness, and George (owner of Cal Towing) was very concerned. Eddie D. , our driver, was very tenacious, found us, and towed us 106 miles to a safe, AAA recommended facility, got our vehicle dropped off, then dropped us off at a nearby hotel, waited until we got checked in, and made sure we were safe...it was 3:30am! Kasey the tow truck driver was amazing, polite, knowledgeable and made my day. He was very patient and kind. ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY!!!!! My car had been stolen while I was in Bakersfield on business, and when they located the car I had ONE HOUR to claim it. I was already back home, over 125 miles away. I drove back up, claimed my car, which was undrivable, so I started calling towing companies to tow it to a "safe place." George and his staff were there in 15 minutes, took it to a locked yard, helped me find a new tire (mine was trashed) a new window (mine was broken out) and the special locking key to remove the rim so the tire could be replaced. George himself personally helped with every little thing I needed to get the car "running" so I could drive it home. They were all so friendly, helping me with directions, with the tire replacement, towing the entire car to the VW dealer, who wanted me to buy a set of "keys" to unlock the wheels (since each new car has a "special" unlocking key which is not recorded anywhere, so you have to have all 16 to find the one that works! He was able to get the locking lug nut removed, then towed the entire car back to the tire store, where the trashed tire was replaced (at a fraction of the cost the dealer wanted, after a 3-day wait to order one) and then towed the entire car to a glass repair shop, where they installed the brand new window George ordered the night before, and I was up and running! I cannot say enough kind words to thank George and his crew for helping an out-of-towner unfortunate enough to have a car stolen right from the hotel parking lot! On top of that HE WOULD NOT ACCEPT A TIP!!!!!! My "sad" experience ended with a sense of goodwill and justice. Amen to George at Cal-State Towing! read more

Do not get a tow from this company. Rip off company. Called AAA for a tow and this company came out and instead of towing for free and bill AAA the driver wanted to bill over 600.00 for tow and impound it so they can bill state farm insurance instead and get storage fee.Said he can make more money that way. Was asked to tow to a local body shop only 1/4 mile from accident and the tow truck driver was angry because he wanted to make money on the tow since he gets paid by the hour and said it would be a 3 hr tow. His words. this tow call was not a police of chp call, just a regular AAA call from the customer. The body shop manager went to scene, the cal state driver wanted to fight him saying this is my tow and so on. The driver started cussing then saying words in his language. NOT PROFESSIONAL!!! The body shop asked the driver to leave and called another local tow company out. the tow driver refused to leave and called his boss and trying to say oh just a misunderstanding (yeah right) told owner that we are filing a complaint with AAA then he said oh on please sorry we will tow for free just a misunderstanding... They know they messed up by now but too late!!!!! the other tow company showed up in less then 10 minutes and the tow was about 5 minutes or so. and only 45.00 dollars.
