This review is for a completely different service by a completely different person then I have reviewed in the past at Cala Luna. As I have mentioned before, this is a place where individuals rent space under the same roof, so each person runs their own business. With that clarification let's move forward. The last couple of years I have been tinting my eyebrows to make them visible as they are naturally very blonde. I was informed of a new esthetician, Booma, who had moved into a space, was offering microblading. I had considered this in the past but was very unsure since it is comparable to a tattoo. But after checking out the many pictures of great looking results and texting back and fourth with Booma and many inconsistencies with dates offered I scheduled with her. By inconsistency I mean I was set for end of May to be contacted that she gave me the wrong dates and ended up not being available even though she had sent the specific dates so my appt was moved to 3 weeks earlier then planned. That should have been my warning, but I was understanding this happens and didn't want to upset the person putting ink to my face. I had chosen the combo package which included some ombré and some microblading for a more natural look. I was told to plan 4-5 hours for the appt. When I arrived Booma was very friendly and professional. I really liked her demeanor. I did find out she has been doing this less than a year, which again made me question myself what I was doing but trusted the pictures she had posted for her business. My appointment did not last as long as quoted which surprised me. I was there only maybe 2-2 1/2 hours. My brows were very dark but from what I had researched that was normal. I followed Booma's aftercare instructions to a tee. Within the week my eyebrows were peeling which was normal. However, only the color from the ombré style was coming through leaving blank spaces and blank lines without color. Not one single hairline from the microblading appeared. So I scheduled a follow up. In which I was contacted 2 weeks later Booma had someone else scheduled same time (sure) so I had to be rescheduled - again. My follow up appointment actually took longer than my initial appointment at about 3hours. Some more of the ombré was added and the microblading was completely redone with a darker color. Now that it is somewhat healed, the microblading again did not turn out again but it seems worse this time around because it looks like make up residue on my eyebrows rather than hairlines. Now I will definitely have to use a brow pencil every day until I get it fixed. I do not have greasy skin and I only point this out as one of the major factors Booma kept throwing out there why the color was not staying. I even confirmed with my regular esthetician to confirm my skin type. On her site are only after service pictures. The only exceptions are before touch up pictures- again no true end result pictures. As far as being professional and likable, Booma is all the above. The shape of my eyebrows are great! Maybe this is a learning curve for her. If by chance my eyebrows change in the mean time and more color ends up coming through, I will update my review. But as of now, I would recommend holding off if wanting microblading until there are many more reviews and pictures of the complete finished product. See I am updating my review since I should be fully healed. I stand by my previous review. My eyebrows are 100% ombré- not what I was looking for. There are microblading lines that are dotted, smudged like dots but not 1 single smooth hairline for more natural look. I originally posted a review with my concerns on her Facebook page and was not only attacked by Booma but her friends for posting how disappointed I was. I have not looked recently but at that point she had absolutely no real end result pictures. I will reiterate here - the shape is great, the ombré seems to work for Booma, however the microblading is bad. We even tried the second round with a darker color. I do not have oily skin. I followed care instructions to a tee. I would highly recommend going somewhere else. read more

Oh my goodness. My first experience at Cala Luna was completely amazing. Even the setting is perfect. It doesn't get much better than an adorable little salon right in the middle of Uptown Westerville! I get my hair cut approximately once a year, twice in a good year (what can I say? I'm busy and poor) so going to a quality salon that's gonna make the haircut count is extremely important. I can be pretty critical about it, but I left Cala Luna happier than I've left a salon in years. I went to Tina and gave her an extremely rough idea of what I wanted but told her to pretty much do whatever she thought would work. Tina is ridiculously nice and a magician with hair! She brought my deader than dead hair back to life and made it look better than it has in years. When she was cutting my hair I let it slip how completely hopeless I am when it comes to styling, especially curling, my hair so when she curled it she told me step by step what she was doing and how I should do it. Seriously, so nice and SO helpful. At the last few places I've gotten my hair done a 'cut and style' really meant a 'cut and hair dry' but I left Cala Luna with big, loose curls and I finally felt like I got my money's worth. Hopefully when I find my big kid job soon it won't take me too far from Westerville because I just can't leave now that I've found the perfect salon! read more

Cala Luna is a quaint little salon right in Uptown Westerville. All of the staff are pleasant and friendly. While I only go there to get my nails done by Kim Mitchell, I have had my hair done there in the past with Leigh and she did an amazing job! The nail techs have the MOST colors of shellac in the area. They also are one of the only salons in Columbus that already have the OPI LED light. My nails last 2 times as long as the shellac with the OPI product. Kim is amazing and really takes the time to do whatever you want! She loves doing nail art and is always looking to get cute and creative. read more

Great little salon with VERY affordable prices. Kasey is my stylist and is the BEST. I went in for the first time with very messed up hair. Then she fixed me up.. but I'd picked a color that I didn't end up liking.. so she fixed it for me and now it's simply perfect. The cut is amazing! I went to Cala Luna Salon last week while in town on a conference. I was in desperate need of a manicure/pedicure so I looked at Yelp for a good place to go. This is a very nice little salon located in the main part of town in Westerville. Very cute area. Kim, the nail tech is so friendly and does such a nice job. If you are looking to do something creative and fun with your nails, she is your girl. There is no Pinterest design she can't do. The pictures she showed me of some of her designs were amazing. She loves the challenge too! The only reason I gave four stars is because it's a week later and I do have a tiny bit of chipping on my gel nails. For whatever reason when I get my nails done in a salon they chip easier than when I get them done at a walk-in place. It could be my nails and I don't fault the salon at all. But if I find a salon that eliminates this, I would be ecstatic. I live two hours away but if I ever need a manicure/pedicure again or I know I will be headed to the Westerville area, I will definitely stop in to Cala Luna again! read more

This place is as cute as it comes, in charming Uptown Westerville. The salon is unique in that each stylist can set her own rates. I had my favorite one ever, Kasey, change from another studio but she kept her very reasonable rates. I've even gotten product there for several dollars cheaper than at Ulta at Polaris. Now, time for me to rave about Kasey. I lucked out with her, walked in off the street and found a super talented stylist. Kasey is so nice, knows when you don't feel like chatting it up and is truly talented at what she does. She has listened to what I want every time, and even took me from a bob to a shortie cut pretty successfully, if I do say so! She can work off magazine pictures and also has done great natural color for my dark hair, which is sometimes an art. Best of all is the rates - I can get out with a cut for $25 plus tip, and even with color and a tip, out for under $100. I think that's an achievement in itself. Kim is seriously the best manicurist I've ever been to. I've always gone to the typical nail salon that gets me in and out with no real care @ all. I hate the feeling of a nail tech rushing through my mani pedi! Kim takes her time in an efficient yet caring way. She's a real perfectionist and I could totally tell that she was super thorough about everything. Went here about a week ago for my first haircut by a stylist in over 6 years! The experience was amazing! I met with Amanda, she knew EXACTLY what I wanted form the photo that I showed her. She also knew that I wanted to donate my hair (if possible). She was able to measure and ensure that my hair could be donated, and she took care of the donation for me. The hair cut was amazing, and I am still amazed when I look at myself how well it turned out! I will be back for future appointments with her, and I highly recommend anyone giving Amanda a chance! Came here to get my nails done right before my wedding. Wasn't very impressed with the girl that did my nails. It was ok, but a little sloppy compared to other places I have gone. She ended up filing my skin (while trying to file nail) so hard that it left a mark and very sore. You could see the raw sore area in my wedding pics, which was a bummer. Loved my pedicure though. I'm not a high maintenance kind of person but I'm very particular about my short haircut because if it's not done well, it's a hassle to deal with every day. I just got the best hair cut today from Angie at Cala Luna Salon. I really didn't know exactly what I wanted, but showed her two pictures and she captured my idea perfectly. She gave me several tips on how to create more body and volume and was very warm and professional. I will be going back to her again and again, and will be sending all my friends there as well. I went to Cala Luna today for the first time, and saw Sandy Reed for a massage. She was fantastic! She was big on communication, which was a plus for someone who might be new to massage. But she needed no direction from me. She gave the perfect amount of pressure, and used moves and techniques I've never seen or felt before. Kasey is amazing. I went to her when I lived in Ohio and I have since moved home to VA but with the people I've encountered here I think I'll make special trips to see Kasey and have her cut my hair! She didn't make me feel bad when I told her I wanted to grow my hair out and I wouldn't be coming in every 8/9 weeks. She made my bangs look awesome- she understood if we went too short they'd get all wild on me. Wow, she is so nice and does what she can to fit you in. So affordable as said from someone previously. She almost feels like a friend I've known forever. She is very talented, knows what she is doing, not afraid to make suggestions and of all, focused on her customers. She went out on maternity leave and took the time to be sure and leave me a referral and her cards so the next stylist knew the color, etc... After a long time without going to a stylist due to terrible results (I have very fine hair), I finally broke down and asked a co-worker (with fabulous "thin" hair) her secret. Her secret? Stylist Angie Steinhauser of the Cala Luna Salon in Westerville, OH. Angie magically transformed my damaged, stringy, "drugstore quality" dyed hair into an amazing, well-coiffed style. She was kind and reassuring as she explained, step by step, what she was doing with my skinny, Elvira black, head of hair. I was gently reminded that the 80s were over and I was way overdue for an updated look. I really did need some "tough love" and a true hair artist will give you the truth! I never thought that a haircut, and professional highlight, could actually make me look years younger! I cant say enough about this salon. I have been going here sense the day it opened. Erin has been doing my hair now for 16yrs and I wouldn't change that for nothing. So sense I was already going here for hair it was recommended that I give the nail tech Kim out and WOW that woman can do some nails. So is fantastic. The gel "rock star nails" are highly recommended she wont let you down. Now lets talk about waxing, thought hmm WHY NOT right? Worst and most expensive hair cut I've ever gotten. Can't believe the price and the haircut was awful, actually cried all night over it. I was very specific with what I wanted, the stylist insulted the hair cut I had, and she cut it the way she wanted too, and did not listen to my request, and I'm the paying customer. My hair is so short and looks terrible, now, I have to wait for it to grow before I can even fix it. The back literally looks like bowl cut, has a super harsh line that's not even blended. For the price I should have gotten a great cut, that I actually liked. As I already had a pixie cut, most salons charge me for a men's cut as my hair is already short to start with, so being charged over $50 for the cut is absolutely absurd. Went to Cala Luna to get my hair cut. Checked the website and it lists prices for a cut and style as $35 and up. I was blown away when was charged $50 for a wash, cut, and style-which I find ridiculous. I like the cut, but the price is crazy. I was also not crazy about the individual that did my hair. She was really rough in the way she would comb my hair and move my head. Once or twice she it my forehead with the comb and didn't apologize. With the cost I feel like I was being charged by the minute, and my hair was done in 40 minutes. All a bit ridiculous if you ask me. read more

I had appt. for facial and was treated very rudely. When I arrived, I waited for 5 minutes and had to ask one of the stylist to acknowledge me. One of the stylist told me she would inform the Esthetician that I was there. After waiting 25 minutes, I had to ask another stylist for assistance. The Esthetician was not even at the salon. When I spoke to her on the telephone, she thought my appt. was at 10:00 (although I received an email confirmation that the appt. was for 9:00). If the stylist had demonstrated some customer service skills and went to see if the Esthetician was in her office (as she told me she would), I would not have wasted 25 minutes. I purchased a Groupon for the facial and have received a refund and made Groupon aware of my negative experience. This is the first and most definitely last time I will visit this salon. I have had several disappointing experiences at this salon. The few hair appointments I have had there have run at least 20 minutes behind the scheduled appointment times. When you enter, no one mans the front desk, so you are left feeling ignored, and wondering if you have the right day/time. My last appointment the woman failed to show up, after confirming this with another worker. The only positive point I am providing for this salon is once I did get my hair done, it was cut fairly well. After this last appointment, where the woman failed to show, I will not be back. read more
