Okay, so I went back to this salon for the third time and this time I sat with Amanda and she is incredible. But also, sitting there had me convinced that my too short haircut from last time was a fluke. The place is small but they make use of every square inch and it WORKS. But the dynamic there is really what makes it unique. Even when you sit with one stylist everyone is involved in the conversation and the vibe is cheerful and uplifting. Plus, the colors Amanda applied to my hair are amazing. She got the trim and colors exactly right and I'm thoroughly impressed every time I look in the mirror. I would still caution that if you have something in mind please be as specific as possible and keep checking in with your stylist but that's probably a good general rule of thumb no matter where you go or who does your hair. read more

Tonight I spent my first time at Uptown Hair and I was throughly impressed. I have not had many people cut my hair, or felt comfortable enough to let someone else do it. I was hesitant to book blindly but I figured that since the stylist and I had the same name, it was good luck. I will say, this will most likely be my new favorite place. I tend to not cut my hair often, but I would get my hair cut regularly to come here. My hair looks fantastic, the shampoo was wonderful and relaxing, and the conversation came easy. I was the last person of the night and closed the place down. Never once did I feel in the way, or a nuisance by doing so. As a follow-up, I am NEVER going anywhere else....ever. I went in to get highlights put in my hair, which Woody did perfectly. However, not only were they exactly as I wanted, but I walked out with my hair in better condition than when I walked in. That's right, AFTER bleaching my hair, it felt better and was smoother than before. If that isn't enough, Woody cut my sons hair tonight, and it totally rocks the party! I am in love with my hair and two of the sweetest men I met today! I came in with frumpy hair that was in need of life and dye job. I walked out today smiling and knowing I found my new stylist for life! First, the establishment....This location is right off of the town's main street and screams of small town charm. Carefully placed product and clean stylist areas are viewable from the street. The cleanliness is continued to the back room where hair is washed and rinsed. Cute eclectic touches are everywhere in an artsy but not overdone way. The stylist/owner was named Woody. What an absolute delight to have someone cut and style my hair that has been in the business for quite a few years who still obviously loves what he does. Extremely knowledgeable about color, I warned him not to make my hair have pink roots (I dye my hair red) because it was a sure fire way of losing a new client. He laughed but once I saw the detail in how he checked my roots, I knew I no longer had to worry. After dyeing my hair, he cut my hair with the same precision. When I saw the final result, I smiled like I hadn't since moving to Columbus. I drove across town because I had visited over 3 to 4 salons over the last year and a half and was constantly let down. I was thrilled! As a side note Herb, I believe co-owner, makes you feel like instant family. While Woody cut, colored and styled my hair, Herb, who is obviously quite skilled in making people feel comfortable, spoke to me and assisted Woody in prep and cleanup. I thought about asking him if he had thought about going into Marketing, but not sure Woody would appreciate that :). At the end of my appointment, I didn't know if I was supposed to say thank you or hug them both! Uptown Hair Design was the first page that came up on Google when I was looking for highlights. I called them to see if they could fit me in today and they did! The lady that did my hair, Stephanie, showed me some pics of her work and then helped me with suggestions and ideas for my hair. We went to work on my hair and I told her I was getting married this Sept; come to find out she's available on my wedding date to come to my venue and she'll do my hair and make up! Everyone here, Herb, the man I talked to on the phone to book my appointment, Woody,and Stephanie were all very pleasant and fun to be around. The whole time I was there they consistently had repeat customers coming in for services and calling in to make appointments! The best cut I've had in ages. Went to Woody for the first time this week. My wife has been seeing him and Stephanie for a while, and was always pleased with the results. I've typically gone the discount cut route in recent years, but always prefer to support the local Westerville businesses. And I am glad that I did. I wish I could give 10 stars! I was a first time customer today for a Halo consultation and my appointment was with Woody. I was looking to get extensions for my upcoming wedding and I don't have any experience with them whatsoever. He was extremely friendly and so, SO helpful. The rest of the staff even gave input and I believe helped me make the best choice! No one tried to pressure me into getting anything I was uncomfortable with, and they laid out all the options for me very clearly. I didn't catch the other gentleman's name but from reading the other reviews, I believe it must have been Herb. Both he and Woody made me so incredibly happy today, I can't thank them enough! I've gone here a couple times since moving to the westerville area. It's a cute little hair salon with 3 people who cut hair. They all are very friendly and everyone is super nice. The cuts here are super reasonably priced, I can't get over it. I've never had to wait when I arrived for my appointment so they are really realistic when scheduling appointments which is appreciated. One of my favorite parts of this place is the online booking- it's so easy to be able to book an appointment at any time of day. I've always been happy with my cuts and they also do bayalange (spelling?!?!?). I've been really happy with that as well. Had my first appointment at this amazing salon today with Stephanie for a color. After a thorough consultation, we came to the conclusion that a full bayalage was what my hair needed - and BOY was she right!! My new color is gorgeous, and will really work well for my lifestyle. I LOVE this salon!!! Everyone there is so warm and welcoming with a fun atmosphere! I recently "lost" my hairdresser of 13 years to motherhood - happy for her, but sad for me! I tried a couple of different salons in Westerville without positive results -- then I found Woody and Uptown and haven't looked back since!! During my first appointment with Woody, he took lots of time with me -- and really listened to my "wants and needs" -- and my hair has never looked so good!! Prices are extremely reasonable and I LOVE LOVE LOVE being able to schedule my appointments through the Vagaro app on my phone!! That way if I'm up in the middle of the night, or think of it before leaving for work at 6 a.m., I can sign on and schedule an appt at MY convenience! And they're open SEVEN DAYS a week!! No JOKE!! True he does not push products and listens to you and your needs. I have loved what he has done. I will definitely go back. Made an appointment online for the next day. From the moment I got there everyone was welcoming, friendly and made sure I was comfortable. They offered me something to drink and made sure to let me know that I would have to wait a few moments as the stylist was running a bit behind. I was just there for a quick cut and Amanda did a great job, she listened to what I wanted done, gave some input and I'm very pleased with the results. Everyone working there seems to get along very well and watching/listening to them interact with each other was fun. It looks like a great place to work. I've finally found the one! I've been hopping ALL over central Ohio for the last 10 years looking for that perfect place where no matter who did my hair, they could get me in and beautiful! I was able to book an appointment on Thursday for Friday! Amanda was my stylist and she did an awesome job! After years of different hands doing my hair she was able to remove all streaky color and get me to a beautiful EVEN natural blond! She took the time it took and I was afraid it would going to be $$$$$ but it did not break the bank! Overall... This is now my place! I will be back! I am currently in Columbus visiting with family on break from college. I was in desperate need of a cut and was able to schedule a dry cut appointment with one of their newer stylists, Katie. I will start off by saying that if I was a stylist, I personally would have been terrified seeing my dark, waist length, virgin hair walk into that salon! Katie handled it like a professional. We worked together to determine exactly what it was that I wanted. Being a newer stylist, Katie was not afraid to ask for suggestions from the shop owner, Woody, and I really really appreciated that. We were able to work together on my hair and she really took her time making sure I walked out of the salon happy with my hair. I went from waist length, drab locks, to a shorter haircut with so much texture and movement that I love. The atmosphere was cozy, upbeat, and collaborative. Very friendly environment, he is very easy to talk to. Will assess your hair with you to see what you want and what direction to take. He took his time, my hair has more breakage than I thought. The resulting haircut looked and felt good. I used a groupon deal which was a great deal. I didn't get the blow out which was included, but I would guess it looks good. I just don't like to straighten my hair, so instead he focused extra on the conditioning which I enjoyed. Parking is either on the street or there's s small lot behind the building. ALWAYS offer suggestions when you ask for them, never question anything you really want and do their best to make it happen, Herb (he's the social butterfly & helps run the business) is always full of conversation and we always exchange ideas talking. Overall, in my 50 years, UPTOWN HAIR DESIGN is the ultimate BEST place ever to get a haircut, dye job, perm or anything else you can imagine hair wise. (They also do a good job at waxing!) My teenagers, ages 17 & 19, ONLY want to go to Woody's Uptown Hair Design, and so does my grandkids, ages 7 & 9, and my senior mother and myself only want Woody & Steph as well. Our whole family will accept nothing less :-) Been going there for 4 years, never had a bad experience, only great ones. They are the BEST at what they do, and they excel at cuts/dye's and styling! Well above Kenneth's and others, and WELL BELOW those other hair salon prices! I'm a loyal customer as long as they are in business, and if Woody ever moves, I'm following him & his crew! I am so happy I found this place! I always dread getting my haircut, and I've never been able to find somewhere that I wanted to keep coming back to. Uptown Hair is sooo cute inside and so are the people who work there! It's a cozy little place with high ceilings and comfy leather salon chairs. In Westerville it's really hard to find a place that can actually give you an edgy and stylish haircut, but these hair stylists get it. I got my haircut by Stephanie and she immediately knew what I was talking about when I described the cut I wanted. I am very pleased with my haircut. It didn't take long at all either! Stephanie did my hair but Woody was there giving his opinion on the color. So it really felt like they were both doing it, which I appreciated. I got an all over color and a trim. This was the worst experience I've ever had in a salon. By the time I had left there, I looked like a raccoon! The dye job was spotted at my scalp! When I complained I was told I could not have a refund. Worst treatment ever. Woody not trustworthy. He is dishonest and I'm not even sure how he got a license. Don't go here!
