    This morning

My favorite dog place to go and fortunately close by So many friendly dogs and thier humans.

I live just down the street from this park and come here 1-2 times per day with my hyper husky mix (that being said, I've only ever used the large dog side, so that's what this review will be referencing). It's a wonderful park. The best parts about it would definitely be 1) the size, 2) the popularity, and 3) the beautiful sunset views! Obviously, this park is more spacious than most. In fact, it's the biggest one I've ever been to, and I split my time between TO and Orange County. It's the biggest and most grassy by far. There are two water stations for the pups, with one situated right by the front entrance and the other a bit farther toward the grass area but still in the dirt. I do wish there were more shady spots for the owners and dogs alike to enjoy; be careful not to come here during the heat of the day, of course, especially since no one will be around then! Which brings me to the second best part about this park... If you come here in the morning (9-11 a.m.) and/or after 4 p.m. on any day, it's guaranteed to be packed, and I consider this a great thing! My dog has lots of playmates and you get to pet even more pups when there are lots of others running around. It's nice because the size of this park can accommodate tons of dogs, so people will bring large groups that they take care of throughout the day, or whole families will come with their dog(s) later in the evening. I like seeing regulars here and have come to learn dogs' names, so it's extra fun for us dog lovers! There are times when my pup gets a bit overwhelmed from the sheer amount of furry friends he has to play with, especially around dusk. But that's another awesome feature of our park... The sunsets here are worth going for alone! I love bringing my dog during that after-work rush when everyone stops by to exercise their pups, because you get to watch the sun set just past all of the beautiful hills in the west. There is very limited interrupted sky when you're standing in this park, so the sunsets are really spectacular, specifically during the autumn hours! The location is just great (being down the street is a plus) despite the nearby freeway noise. Be advised that this park is closed every third Thursday of the month for maintenance! I think they maintain it pretty well (supplying dog bags / emptying trash cans) but the amount of holes that need patching, plus the really strong pee smell in certain spots, need improvement for sure.

This is a well kept, spacious dog park with both grass and sand/gravel. They have lots of poop scoops and trash cans so it's very clean and well maintained. It's closed every third Thursday of the month for maintenance. There's two water fountains, but they are only on one side of the very large park. The downside is that there is very little shade so I image it gets very warm in the summer so be careful with your pups!

    Fun at the puppy park!

Wonderful dog park. Plenty of space. Grass could be a bit better but it's SoCal and water isn't cheap. I've found the majority of people to be kind and watchful of their dogs. Like any dog park you have to keep an eye out for aggression but we've been here many times and had no problems. Give your pooch a trip to "puppy paradise" and check it out!

Ask the Community - Conejo Creek Dog Park

The parking lot is under construction right now. Any one knows what will happen to this dog park? Would be very sad to see if it's gone. Both of my dogs love this place.

Hi Anna! The dog park is currently under construction for the next 2-3 months. We are adding shade structures, a restroom, and a paved parking lot. In the meantime, there is a temporary fenced-in area available adjacent to the Equestrian Park…

What time is the park usually busy with dogs?

I've found that the after-work hours between 4 and 7 p.m. are great! Lots of dogs to play with then.

You can either park in the lot and walk up the hill to the dog park OR you can drive your car up the hill, park along the street (or if you're lucky park in the limited spots available) and then go to the park from there. The dog park is divided into two sections. There's a big dog and small dog play area. It's very spacious! Oh and don't worry if you forgot to bring bags to pick up your dog's waste. There are plenty there. Also there's water available for the dogs. It's a great place! Last time I went, people brought their own chairs and sat there watching their dogs. There are a few benches there, but if you plan on staying awhile I highly suggest bringing your own folding chair. I highly recommend bringing your dog to this park! It's great!

I took my dog and my grandma here to hopefully have a nice day at the dog park while my dog could play, while my grandma sits in the shade. We ended up having a really hard time finding the park driving wise because it was a bit hidden and tucked away from any houses, apartments, and is located behind the Oak Park park that goes into the mountains. Granted, you end up at the bottom of the dry grassland hills and mountains there, and it's gorgeous. But on a sunny day, it was unfortunate that there wasn't any shade or good shaded areas to sit. They have one bench alllllll the way at the end of the dog park. When we showed up at the dog park initially, no one was actually there! So it ended up just being an empty grass field for my dog, which we made work, but I know he wanted to socialize and play with others. Even though this one is closer to me, I end up just going to the Westlake Dog Park most days since it's more accommodating for us.

Before that, my dog was a regular here for about a year and a half, daycare twice a week and boarding 4-6 times a year. Toward the end, we started getting messages about her being "too excited," nipping, or snapping. What was confusing is that these incidents were very spaced out, especially given how often she was there, and didn't seem consistent or escalating. We were then told they may need to "reconsider her social status," meaning she'd be removed from group play and placed in separated daycare for an extra fee. Based on how sporadic the feedback had been, it felt like a sudden shift and left me feeling like she was being singled out toward the end. I did ask if someone from management could reach out to talk it through, but never received a follow up, which was disappointing. It's also disappointing because we had many positive experiences, but based on the contrast, I do think environment or handling may play a role. I'd recommend asking detailed questions if any concerns come up.

However, the recent app change is a big drop in value. I used to get updates on appetite, medication, and more comprehensive notes. I also have not been updated on how to see the cameras on the new app. Finally, today I picked up and for the first time was hit with a "would you like to leave a tip?" With the only options being 15, 20, 25 percent. I don't appreciate the goalpost moving as a customer. It makes me feel like they don't value the customer experience. If your staff needs a tip, your staff is underpaid in this position. I really would hate to leave my dog with anyone else than the people he loves so much, but the drops in quality and customer appreciation are giving me pause.

Even after 14 years when we ask, "Want to visit the puppies!", he runs to the door wagging his tail. They are so loving and attentive to the dogs. Wilson happily goes through their doors without a leash, and often walks right back to the door to the play area. Over the years they've contacted me if they saw a sore, scrape, weird bump, itchy skin, not eating, not seeming like his usual self, or anything they thought we should know about. And they are EXTREMELY conscientious about health and vaccinations. 1. In 14 years Wilson has never returned home with a flea or illness. 2. Several years ago there was a new disease which dogs were catching and there was a newly released vaccine which WestLA Dogs sent information about, with a warning that without proof of vaccination dogs would not be admitted. It happened that we had to leave town for the weekend and they checked and found that Wilson had not yet had the vaccine. The ONLY way they would let Wilson stay was if he was sequestered in one of the single rooms with no access to other dogs. And we are probably the longest clients they have and they know Wilson as well as we do. BUT they were taking NO chances on exposing the other dogs. 3. They regularly send a reminder if a vaccine is due and check their records that the pup is up-to-date. I also love that if you just want to drop your pup for a couple of hours you can do so, or leave them for a longer time. I think the longest we've ever left Wilson is 2 weeks and he came home happy and relaxed - as though he had been on vacation, too.
