It was okay. The room was large and comfortable. Nit-picky stuff: Every 10 minutes or so, there was the sound of a motor starting up and running for about another 10 minutes or so. It sounded like a large refrigerator condenser running, but not the one in our room. It was quite loud. This went on 24/7 and was very disturbing. Don't know what it was but it frustrated us immensely. Also, we try to be conscious of not having our room cleaned every day, so we asked for every other day, which in the time we stayed there worked out to be only once. They made the bed and left towels. They did not clean or replace the water glasses we used or the coffee cups and did not refill the coffee creamers in the room. The patio was lovely, but the chairs they had to sit on are torture devices. Metal bands for the seat were so uncomfortable. We had to take small pillows from the room to sit on. I'm sure we're not the first. Would we stay there again? No. read more

Only the good things about calderwood inn. The common areas of the inn are very cute and comfortable. Every afternoon there are freshly baked cookies and a bottle of wine for the guests to share. There is a beautiful front porch with comfortable furniture and it's very inviting. When we arrived we met our "inmates", who were sitting on the front porch partaking of the afternoon wine. We started talking and ended up having wonderful conversation with them every time we were together, which was in the afternoon and at breakfast. This was very special and doesn't happen as easily at hotels. The breakfast menu was posted several days in advance, and if you wanted to make an alteration, you needed to let the staff know. One morning they were supposed to serve breakfast burritos, which are not my favorite. I let them know and they served me an alternative which was perfectly adequate and enjoyable. I appreciated that. The Calderwood Inn is very close to downtown Healdsburg, and there is a wonderful walking path that leads you right to town. Easily accessible and quite nice. There is also Big John's market nearby. In case you're starved! You can easily walk over to Big John's and get anything on planet Earth. There is plenty of parking at calderwood inn and that's a plus. If I were to stay at Calderwood Inn again, I would definitely choose my room, and not leave it up to the innkeeper. We stayed here over fifteen years ago and it was just as lovely as I remembered it, more actually. The lounge inside was very comfortable with plush couches and chairs and music you could choose. The gardens are so well-kept (as is the whole house) - we spent a fair amount of time out near the koi pond. Our room was huge with a bathroom you could turn around. The breakfast is delicious! The food comes right from the kitchen and all the ingredients are fresh. Really wonderful cook! All the staff are friendly and helpful - very patient too. Special thanks to our inn host Kiki who knew everything we needed, was fun to talk to, and who loved the same kind of music as my husband. We can't wait to go back! We were very disappointed with our stay at the Calderwood Inn. When we arrived, the woman who greeted us was not friendly at all, which was not a great first impression. We had booked one of the more expensive rooms, but it was located outside and far from the main house. We had to walk in the rain to get there, and no umbrellas were provided even though the bad weather was expected. Inside the room, the curtains were too short and let light through. The bathroom had no place to sit or store anything, and the toilet was loose. The shower water pressure was extremely weak. There was also no real place to store clothes--just a few hangers, no dresser or cabinet. The bed was comfortable, which was one of the few positives, but it didn't make up for the many issues. The internet never worked the entire time we were there. When I mentioned it to staff, they said they knew it had been down but didn't do anything because "no one else complained." The breakfast was just okay. When I asked for a little more food, I was told they didn't have any extra and that they only prepare a fixed amount. The walking entrance off the street not safe--uneven pavement with poor lighting at night, which made it hard to walk. I even tripped a couple of times. The main entrance had plastic sheets hanging down to block rain, making it look like a construction site. There was no railing on the stairs, and you had to hold the heavy plastic to get through. For the price, it was absolutely not worth it. I really expected a much better experience given the cost and reputation of the property. read more

We booked our room directly from The Calderwood Inn and since we are members we received a discount. We had a late arrival and arrangements were made to get us our keys (no one at the desk after 5pm). Our room the mazzocco was up a flight of stairs. When we entered it was freezing cold. After texting three of the after hours numbers, we received a message about a heater in the closet. By that time we were already tucked in bed using the provided robes to stay warm. The next morning there was a delicious breakfast served in the dining room (8:30-9:30) and another delicious breakfast the next morning. (The Inn will accommodate dietary adjustments if you let them know in advance) Overall a nice experience in a historic building. Pro: such a great homey feeling. The main inn keeper is very nice. Older historic home with all the charm and cuteness. Our room was super clean. The bed was super comfy and linens/towels were great. The area was quiet and surrounding grounds are nicely tended. A delicious breakfast (spinach and cheese crepe with over easy egg/french toast and sausage served with great coffee/tea assortment and orange juice served in the cozy dining room). Glass of wine in the evening (we weren't able to get ours as we arrived late the first night and the second night we were a little late and the bottle was empty-lol) FYI: flight of stairs to enter the house and a flight of stairs up to our mazzocco room-so may be an issue for some (there are some rooms without stairs to enter). Our room had a jacuzzi tub which may be a hurdle for some to overcome. It also leaked from the hot water knob and sometime during the night the jets mysteriously turned on. Please read!! When booking for a particular room, you SHOULD CALL instead of booking online. This was my mistake when I booked online for a suite for my wife and I to celebrate a getaway for this past valentines day weekend. When I booked online a month prior, I was under the assumption that we would get the "St. Anne Suite" based on the description and photos that shows the room. It described the room having dual tv, private living area and deep soaking tube. However, when we checked in the front desk lady escorted us into our suite and then I noticed this was the room I booked. The room looked different- there was NO private room and No deep soaking tube. I confronted the staff member and told her the situation. She said the room i wanted is already booked by someone else. She said if there was a particular room i wanted, i shouldve called. I was shocked and massively upset. I've been to numerous hotels, resorts, bed and breakfast and airbnb and never had this experience before. This seemed like false advertisement. ( You have to read everything to see that you have to call for a particular room). I think they NEED to update their website and list all their rooms available and make it clear and easy for possible customers...their process is ridiculous. So, we got the Mosaic room . Things we didn't care about this suite was the loud heating unit and TV service. It might be a good idea to bring ear plugs if you are lite sleeper. Also, the internet service for the TV keeps disconnecting which was annoying. We had to keep logging in. Besides that, good things about the property- nice staff, decent food and wine, it's walkable to downtown, very comfortable bed and safe area. We stayed for 2 nights recently for a celebration of Pezi Kings crush season Sept.12 th-14.th. We stayed in the Greenwood suite on the lower outside level. Here are some of the issues we had: a series of 2 steps from outside in then 2 steps down inside to room level. It was dark and I fell and hurt my back. Between the air conditioner on the wall and multiple plugs for the TV it was unsightly and noisy! Carpet dirty, stained and uncomfortable chairs. Only the bed passed muster. The bathroom was horrible, torn wallpaper dirt on floor and my husband had to assist me with the tub and it could be a safety hazard! I think the price was exorbitant for what we experienced! Outside was pleasant but not well maintained.Will not be returning. read more

Keep in mind that the original structure of the home including entry and interior stairs will require some agility to navigate while carrying your luggage. We had two upstairs rooms, both with nice big step in tubs. Know that they do require good balance to get in to your bubble bath - especially we who are in the older and wiser group.. :) read more

Every little detail of our stay was adorable. The staff was incredibly responsive and kind, and the kitchen in particular were very curious about our preferences and what we could eat. One morning it was french toast, which my wife could not eat, and the cook ran out to the place down the street and got eggs which we she was eating before I realized what happened. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews in more depth before booking as most of the positive ones are from almost a decade ago or more. I stayed for three nights in the Matrix room. (When I checked in the paperwork said it was the room I had 'chosen' however I booked on Expedia and was only given a vague description of each type of room - size of bed etc - and the preferred price point). Check in was fine. The woman checking in was kind but seemed eager to leave. Once she left at 330pm there was no one on staff in the house at all until the next morning. This was the case every day. Some pros are that the house is in a quiet neighborhood and the grounds are lovely. It's also just a 10-15 minute walk to downtown. Cons are: Breakfast was very hit or miss (good the first day and progressively worse each day after). I asked for a quiet room but instead was put in a room at the top of the stairs (again, I didn't pick my room). It was fine the first day when the inn was basically empty but as the inn filled up it got more noisy. Also the CONSIDERABLE noise coming from the kitchen each morning traveled right up the stairs. The most disappointing part was the room itself. The bed was new and comfortable but as others have noted, my room was shabby. I appreciate that it's an old inn and that they want to lean into that look, but there were frayed throw pillows, a dilapidated arm chair, cobwebs in the corners, pealing paint on the baseboards and bathroom ceiling and a dingy carpet. The bathroom was also comically small (I'm a small to average sized woman). The WiFi in the room was also very spotty. I will not be staying here again. read more

Just had a lovely stay at the Calderwood as part of our honeymoon part 1 drive up the coast! We, of course, have our doghter with us, which proved challenging when looking at places to stay (not sure why that is still a thing - if kids can stay, dogs should be able to!). Calderwood is dog-friendly in some rooms with a small fee. Whoo hoo! The innkeeper emailed us prior to set up complimentary wine tastings at the Wilson tasting rooms and to check for food allergies. When we arrived to check in, the staff was super nice, and gave us a bottle of wine for the "wine reception", as there weren't many folks checking in that day. We enjoyed it on our private patio outside our room. Our room was huge! The bathroom, oh my goodness the bathroom!, was straight out of my dreams! Huge soaking tub, dual sinks, double shower heads. The works! I loved that they had a mini fridge in the room too, as Bella's food has to be refrigerated. The breakfast is at 9am and is served together. I know some folks complain about that, but honestly, that's part of the charm of a bed and breakfast, you get to meet other folks and share a meal together. The food was all local and deliciously prepared - a "spa breakfast" of yogurt parfait with fresh berries, followed by a whipped egg toast with cheese, prosciutto, and a side of grilled oranges. The orange juice was fresh squeezed and the tea and coffee selection was aplenty! As we left to continue our roadtrip, the innkeeper even told us to take some cookies for the road. Boy, does she know the way to my heart!! If you're looking for an intimate experience with a personal touch, this is the place to stay. A very cute, old, large house about a 10 minute walk north of downtown central Healdsburg. The rooms and halls are quite spacious for such an old house and while some of the things in the room were a bit run down, that's definitely to be expected in these kinds of places. The breakfasts were a bit disappointing (not much food, and not very flavorful), but overall we had a nice experience there. read more

Calderwood Inn was my first B&B and changed my outlook on B&B for future travels. My stay was so awesome, the inn-keepers were excellent and the breakfast was amazing. We arrived past the check-in time but they left us all the instructions. At first it was a little eerie in a huge Victoria house (like in the game of Clue), with so many rooms. If it had been only me and my bf, the stay would have been a little scary, but there was another couple in the house. We stayed in the Mazzocco room which was on the second floor with a hot tub. The room was roomy and the beds were so comfortable. The pillows were soft and I could just sleep in everyday. There was an outdated TV but provided endless cable. The room had a view of the pond/garden. The bathroom was spacious and had all the necessary toiletries. There's a housekeeper that cleans the rooms every day as well. I met Kendra on the second day, and she made us some delicious breakfast. It was a plate of crispy bacon, scrambled eggs, hash brown potatoes, and a bowl of fruit. Fresh coffee was made everyday with a huge selection of tea. There was a NESPRESSO machine in the kitchen. The next day we were taking a flight out early and would not make the 9am breakfast, so Kendra accommodated us and served breakfast at 8am. We had french toast made with nuts and a yogurt fruit parfait. It was delicious and I wish I could have breakfast everyday like this. Overall, It was a wonderful stay and Kendra was so kind. She gave out great recommendations on where to eat/wine and marked them on a map. She was such a great inn-keeper and cook! Also, staying at Calderwood Inn allows you to visit and taste 8 other Wilson wine family wineries for free. There's a free wine hour each night but I didn't make it back in time to enjoy. I'm giving two stars because the manager was gracious enough to refund us our last night there. On a positive note the outdoor areas are very pretty and the house itself is in reasonably good condition. Breakfast was okay and the staff is very pleasant. We originally had a three night reservation but stayed only two nights. We were booked into the Greenwood Ridge room in May 2022. We had no idea it was on the lower level which felt largely subterranean. The room is outdated, with filthy carpeting and the bathroom posed a serious safety issue for me. I'm 5'2 and the old tub sits on a pedestal elevating it at least 18 " off the ground. Using the grab bar to get in and out at 5'2 was virtually impossible. I was so angry after nearly slipping getting out of the tub that the first morning there I asked for another room. The manager did accommodate us with a very nice suite that had a fridge and walk in shower, but for the last night we were told we would have to move to the room next to the Greenwood Ridge room, located directly under the kitchen and very tiny. Quite honestly, I feel that the outdated and filthy rooms that are on the lower level are grossly overpriced for what they are. Even the St Anne's suite we were moved to (although a big improvement from our original room) had very filthy rugs and drapes. The owners of The Calderwood inn should re-think their room rates if they do not intend to maintain this property. They might also want to put accurate descriptions of each room on their website!!! We ultimate left a day early and will never return or recommend this place to anyone! read more

Nice touches and not-so-nice moments at our $700 two-night experience at Calderwood: * Not so nice: Wine Reception is at 5pm on Friday evening (a bit early for guests who are commuting for a weekend getaway?) The Innkeeper let us know that wine would be wine for us upon our later(?) arrival of 7:30 which turned out to be 1/3 of a bottle amongst several empty bottles. * Not so nice: We inquired about use of the siting room and fireplace after-hours and were told this was alright. When we arrived there was no fire or feeling of a warm 'welcome' - place was deserted. We searched for matches for the gas fireplace - none. When we inquired again about using it, it was met with reluctance. * Nice Touches: Our room was large and newly remodeled and had a private entrance. The bathroom floor was heated and we had a coffee maker and mini refrigerator. * Not so nice: there was no closet. A single coat rack had to suffice for our wet jackets (it was raining) and my dresses. When we inquired about it - we were told unapologetically that some rooms have closets and some do not. * Nice touch: We were celebrating an anniversary and notified the Innkeeper in advance. On our second night returning to the room a bottle of wine and two glasses were waiting with a note. This was lovely and made up for the Wine Reception we missed. * Not so nice: Breakfast is at 9am sharp. No second seating. On the first morning we arrived to a partially undressed table and self-serve coffee. A small team filed out with plates of muffins and a berry compote followed by a scramble. The food was tasty but the feeling was a bit cold and transactional. * Not so nice: Check out is at 11am sharp. The Innkeeper was hovering outside of our door exactly at 11 and our departure by 11:10 was met with an icy greeting. This left us with a sour feeling. Is it a beautiful location and building? Yes. We couldn't have been happier with our stay at the Calderwood Inn. **Vibe** Sydney was a gracious host and made us feel welcome. Her folks actually own the place as well as a few wineries around Sonoma which she scheduled tastings for us at. Each of the rooms in the Inn are named after one of the wineries. We actually bumped into her mom selecting grapes during the harvest at one of the wineries we visited. **Food** The breakfast was delicious each morning. The cheese plates were tasty each afternoon. **Decor** The Inn is well decorated and has some of the most beautiful wallpaper I've ever seen. Sounds like an odd compliment until you see the Calderwood's wallpaper. It is a very relaxing place. **Room** The room was well appointed with robes, fine soaps and a fancy iPhone alarm clock. That, and an awesome jaccuzi tub built into a window nook. We were very happy with the Calderwood Inn and will definitely book there again on our next stay in Healdsberg. read more

Okay...there were some pluses - but the minuses unfortunately meant that we won't be back. We stayed in their Greenwood Ridge room for three nights this past week. (Dates stayed 1/17 through 1/20) It is a downstairs room with a private entrance. Has a king-size bed and shower/bath combination with dual sinks. A decent sized t.v. is mounted on the wall and there is more than sufficient closet and dresser space. No fridge in this room and no access to ice. Breakfast was group style - and they were kind enough to cater to my food allergies. However, be aware that if you are there on a busy weekend - the dining room table (actually 1 wooden table with a large plastic picnic table pushed against it - then covered with a tablecloth) is very crowded. If you sit on the far side - you are not able to get up for more hot tea/juice/water as there is no space to move. It is hit or miss as to whether they bring coffee around but if you want something else, you are out of luck. Location is very convenient to Downtown Healdsburg. Parking is more than sufficient. Gardens are beautiful. Staff is pleasant. Problem #1 - the room is very noisy in the morning! It is located directly under the kitchen and the thud - thud - thud of the kitchen staff starts at about 7am - no sleeping late here. Problem #2 - BUGS!!!!! The room was infested with ants. They were crawling on the walls, the dresser, the table, the tub, the sink..... Complained in the morning to the staff - theoretically they sprayed - and we did not see any more that day. (They said they could not move our room as the Inn would be full that night.) Spraying worked for 24 hours. The following day, I got up, picked up a tote bag that I had set on the floor - and freaked out. There had to have been a hundred ants both inside and out. (No food in the bag - just eyeglasses, jacket etc.) Spiderwebs and spiders in the shower - apparently they do not eat enough of the ants. Several cautions if you think about booking here - This is in no way a good place to stay if you have difficulties with stairs. The steps to the breakfast area are very steep. To get into the shower required much maneuvering since the lip of the tub is at least 18 inches off the ground. Even to get into the room is two steps up and two steps down. Summary - I felt this place needed to be closed for fumigation and a deep cleaning. Not sure how it passes a health department inspection. For the price, we could have stayed elsewhere and been much more comfortable. I don't appreciate being expected to stay in a bug-infested zone and feel the staff doesn't much care about maintaining the place. read more

My husband and I were looking for a relaxing last minute retreat and we couldn't have chosen a better place! After looking at the pictures of the bedrooms I had called prior to booking to ask about the modern vs charming styles of the rooms as I was interested in the modern. Upon booking we were assigned one of the 'charming' rooms but Leigh was amazing and made sure we got switched to a modern room which was amazing and cozy and exceeded our expectations! We were impressed with the breakfasts both days with fresh squeezed orange juice and home made delicious granola! Ocean at Calderwood was just terrific! My wife uses a cane, and it became abundantly clear that she would be unable to negotiate the many stairs. So she located a room at her other inn, the Grape Leaf Inn, which had a first story room, which cost more, but she didn't charge us more. Everything was perfect with the property. However, the manager got stressed when I asked for 1 ice cube and when another guest used the expresso machine for example. It was awkward how rude & abrasive she was towards everyone in our group. Definitely someone unfit for the service industry. I can't believe no one has reviewed Calderwood Inn yet. It has been over a year since I last stayed there, but I can't imagine it has changed much. Calderwood is a charming little Victorian B & B on the outskirts of downtown Healdsburg. If you want to walk out your door to the restaurants and shops of downtown, this is not your place, but the setting is very pleasant. I booked a room here because they had one room available at the last minute and they (unlike most other Wine Country B&Bs) allowed me to book for just one weekend night. Rates were a bit steep, but comparable to most other B&Bs in the area. I think it was somewhere around $250/night. We stayed at the room just at the top of the stairs, which has a bathroom/shower right next to it (literally 2 steps out the door) but not attached. All of the other rooms had attached bathrooms. Our room, was very nicely appointed and blended modern flat-screen TVs and high-threadcount bed linens with charming Victorian-era furnishings and decorations. Our room also had a wonderful window-seat with a view into the trees. Downstairs is the common area ... kitchen, living room for lounging/reading, dining room, and a romantic front patio perfect for leisurely late-morning paper reading! Susan, the innkeeper, was very welcoming. To this day, we refer to her as 'Mom' for her detailed rules & regulations and stern warning against having any food in the room. "Glamour and Gourmet Hold Hands at the Calderwood Inn" A surprise New Year's Eve trip landed me at the Calderwood Inn in Healdsburg, with my husband. The inn was lit from head to toe with white Christmas Lights and it looked like we had landed in a fairy tale. We were greeted warmly by Patrick Llerena - the Concierge for the Wilson Winery Group with a welcome glass of wine. As we sipped, Patrick told us the history of the inn, his incredible experience in the wine industry and the other Wilson properties that he is involved with. The inn is 102 years old and was built by a manufacturing entrepreneur who provided the troops in the war with the first version of K1 rations. He enticed Luther Burbank, a very famous horticulturist, to design the landscaping. Not only has the house been restored to its original beauty but the yard is a breathtaking extension of the house. Every tree on the property is different and every site out of each window is breathtaking . There are few rooms in the inn, which adds to the ambiance. All the rooms upstairs are well appointed and have angled ceilings of some sort, reflecting the roof line. We loved our room and were very comfortable. The beauty of the inn and the grounds is only the beginning of enjoying your stay there. The next morning we had the pleasure of meeting Laurie Souza, the Resident Manager and Culinary Director for the Wilson Properties. We sat down at a beautiful communal dining table for breakfast. As I was getting coffee, I noticed a black board with the morning's menu. We were served a yogurt parfait with sweet, very fresh fruit. Our next course was one-half baked acorn squash with duck confit, an egg on top and toast on the side. It not only was a beautiful presentation but delicious. Laurie's background, as an executive chef at many familiar famous restaurants and her achievements with the Wilson Group is impressive. Her charming personality only adds to your visit. I landed at the Calderwood in not by experience but because I couldn't find a room at one of those downtown Healdsburg hotels. Everything was booked solid! I was here on business and Calderwood popped up as being available. This B&B is owned by Wilson winery, which is a consortium of several different wines (Think Matrix, Pezzi King, etc). They own a few other B&B and so this is a part of a collection. Specifically, Claderwood is a mini-mansion built in the 1920's by a fruit-packing magnet. In those days it was the only house around and so this place was built to entertain. There is a porch which is just wonderful: comfortable chairs, and a variety of mature trees (The lady of the house wanted nothing but the best and had a world famous landscaper do the job). Guests are in for a treat as an assortment of wines and cheese plates are served in the evening. Indeed, homemade cookies are a part of the greeting here and the rooms are nicely decorated and include sunken tubs with massage jets. While the televisions are small here the beds are very comfortable. Breakfast is also very good. And the the location is considered close to downtown. Really, the place is designed first and foremost for couples...and a weekend trip here with one's significant other should be considered a good investment. read more

Had a good weekend stay here. The room was really clean and nice, as was the restroom! The staff was very pleasant and informative with some of our questions about the town. The breakfast was really good too! Went to the free wine tasting that came with staying there. Chose Soda Rock location. Jude from the Inn was amazing Robin was so so awesome at Soda Rock! read more
