FANTASTIC up scale boutique hotel right in the middle of Healdsburg CA and Sonoma wine country. The hotel is definitely french inspired and beautifully done. I gave it 1 lacking star because they lacked in hotel info at check in and an issue in the hotel room. The rooms are very warm in the summer and no screens on the windows. There was only 1 wineglass in the room not even 2. If i can afford it I would definitely go back! We had a great time!

Wow. What a great experience. Right in the heart of Healdsburg .. this place is perfectly located. It's part of the Relais&châteaux group so you can expect a fine hotel. And they didn't disappoint. Great service, a beautifully appointed room (room 205) and a nice breakfast. Would definitely stay here again in the future. It's not cheap ($700/night) but if you are ok with spending that kind of money this is the place to do that.

This is the best hotel if you are looking for a luxurious hotel in Healdsburg. If you are coming to visit wineries I highly recommend a 2 night stay here they can suggest tasting rooms around town of you tell them what you like. And Healdsburg has tasting rooms for almost all the wineries in the area literally 4 or more per block. Stay at les Mars spend the day walking around town then let the front desk know which ones you liked and they will set up all the tastings for the going put to the wineries and vineyards this way you won't waste time at places you don't like or don't want to purchase from and you will have a better time finding things you do like. No better place to go if you are visiting the Sonoma Valley vineyards. They will take good care of all your needs and always go above and beyond. I only spent 1 night for our anniversary and we had to head back early as we have a teething toddler who gave Grammy a hard time. They just remodeled and the rooms look amazing!

The new manager Demetri and the entire staff were awesome, welcoming and provided an impeccable service. The Hotel Les Mars is a Luxurious and very comfortable establishment worthy of a refined European hotel and of the Relais & Chateaux affiliation. It's location in Healdsburg is perfect as it is located just a block from the downtown plaza and within walking distance of restaurants, stores and local events. Parking is street only and may be little difficult on weekend but is not problematic. We will definitely return and do recommend this establishment.

    Breakfast in bed anyone?

One of the best hotel experiences I've had. It is quaint and luxurious, and right in the heart of Healdsburg. Gorgeous entry, attentive and helpful staff. Took my wife here for our baby moon and it was just perfect and classy. The bathtub was huge and their beds.... best sleep of my life. I truly need one of those beds in every single room I enter. Breakfast could only be enjoyed in your room, but with those beds, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Everything was perfection, which was to be expected from a Relais & Chateaux property.

When I told friends we were off to Healdsburg for a long weekend the usual question was: "oh, so where are you staying?" When I'd advise "the Les Mars Hotel, it's affiliated with Relais & Chateaux". "Relay and who?" was the usual response. I cannot speak more highly of this collection of fine, small hotels. Started in France in the 1950s and located primarily in Europe, they can now be found scattered around the globe. To keep the Relais & Chateaux affiliation, each hotel must maintain a strict minimum of standards. As I understand, these standards are difficult to obtain and the hotels must continue to provide service standards above and beyond to avoid losing the affiliation. We have stayed previously in several of their properties in Europe and found them to be no less than excellent and this long weekend's visit to 'Les Mars' was certainly no exception. Upon entering the room (we chose a 'Mansion' category) everything lived up to our expectations. Beautifully and expertly furnished with a canopy bed, fireplace and marble bathroom with a large Jacuzzi tub (found in most rooms), along with Bulgari toiletries. Also a wonderful touch was a couple of vases full of roses (these are grown locally by the owners of the property) and provided an even more 'personal touch' which only adds to the ambiance of Relais & Chateaux. We had reception show us some other rooms (we're already planning ahead for a future visit!). All rooms have fireplaces. The more expensive rooms can be found on the 3rd (top) floor and they all have soaring vaulted ceilings - stunning (and a bit pricier). Further perks included are complimentary valet parking and a wine and cheese social in the early evening held in the library off the lobby. Each morning we were served a delightful and filling continental breakfast in our room - also complimentary. Another plus is this hotel is located adjacent to 'Cyrus', known as one of the best restaurants in Northern California. You can enter Cyrus through the hotel lobby. It takes a great deal to impress me these days and Les Mars did not disappoint - - no doubt a rare Wine Country gem.

A pristine level of customer service from all the staff--we had so much empathy for them because when we checked in on a Thurs afternoon, they were deluged with problems: water heater broke, flooding in a room ... behind the scenes chaos, but from the professional and efficient way they were operating, nobody would guess that they were having difficulties--they made our experience seamless as guests. Super world class service, so gracious and helpful: I forgot my Kindle charger and were having difficulty locating a shop where they sell it. We asked the concierge, Dimitri--he told us he'd make some inquiries and call us. Twenty minutes later, there as knock on our door and to my shock--voila! He appears with a Belkin charger (which we insisted he charge to our room), he went to a local cupcake shop and presented us with two cupcakes: a vanilla and chocolate! Earlier they'd come with mimosas for our anniversary, but because we don't drink, they brought these instead! The lady behind the front desk, Hattie, was lovely to interact with and helpful in recommending a place we might try for lunch. She was dealing with a lot on that day of check-in but managed to be welcoming and sweet. Our room was on the third floor, where the rooms have exposed beam vaulted high ceilings and four poster beds, a sunken jacuzzi soaking tub with separate glass shower, all done in a high end white/grey marble--gorgeous. This little boutique hotel in a small town--so many thoughtful little touches, e.g. a wrapped box with complementary masks and gloves, a NESPRESSO machine with complementary assorted coffees, a tea kettle with different high end teas, an ala carte breakfast menu and though we didn't avail of it, we were glad to know we had the option. It's incredibly difficult to operate a business of any sort, especially one of hospitality and/or food, and during this time of the COVID pandemic, they're having to cut out many of their usual services, e.g. their on site restaurant and daily cleaning services (which we opted to not get) ... I imagine that if they were operating under usual circumstances, we would have had an even more stellar experience (though it's hard to imagine what that would've entailed :-) These people are wonderful and we loved our stay here--our customer experience was everything great--thank-you thank-you for all your kindness and generosity :-)!

The man can truly cook. We've tried a variety of his dishes, and each one shows such intention, from the flavor profiles to the textures; and everything is always beautifully presented. It never misses. His congee is absolutely to die for, and those thinly sliced pork pieces with crisped skin and tender, juicy meat are a standout every single time. Check out that pic of burger he made for us for burger week! You can really taste the quality, especially knowing he uses fresh vegetables straight from the garden on the property. That is farm-to-table at its finest. On one of our visits, we stayed in a suite above the restaurant, which made the whole experience even more special. It was so nice to head upstairs after dinner and fully relax in our own space. Our room was stocked with thoughtful treats upon arrival, and we had access to the most beautiful private gym. The pool area is stunning, and we loved riding the bikes they provide to explore the property. I would absolutely stay here again. Everywhere you go, there's curated art to enjoy, which adds such a unique and elevated touch. They also host special events throughout the year. We especially love their summer movie nights, lounging on the lawn with fresh popcorn, wine, and Red Vines is such a vibe. All in all, our experience started with the restaurant and kept us coming back for more. It's made even more special by the team, who consistently make us feel so welcomed every time we visit. Thank you for always spoiling us, Chef. We are so grateful for you. Your talent and skill truly shine, and The Madrona is lucky to have you. See you again soon!

The friendly employee told us a bit about the hotel as we were checked in and we got our keys. Our room was facing the interior courtyard as most of the rooms here are. We had a gas fireplace in the room which would come in handy during the cooler times of the year. We also had a little balcony which was great. I thought it might be a little noisy during the day or at night with people in the courtyard down below but it really wasn't an issue. The room had a nice clean bathroom with a fairly large shower. Double sinks as well which is always nice. The bed was comfortable, however when we checked in there was a large tear in one of the bed sheets. I called down to get it replaced, unfortunately housekeeping had already gone home. The front desk person offered to change the sheets for us, but we did that ourselves. The hotel has some wine tasting nights, though I'm not really sure how consistent they are. We didn't partake, but it may be available. They do have self service laundry available at the sister hotel which is right across the parking lot. The detergent is sold in a vending machine near the laundry room. There is lots of parking (you need a tag displayed in your car) and you can access the rooms either by stairs or elevator. Just a little ways down from the hotel you'll find a great trail that goes into town along a little stream which I really enjoyed. I enjoyed our stay at The Lodge and would recommend it. It's in a great location with lots to do around town.

But he definitely doesn't bring the brand any good recognition on service or professionalism. My stay: I am a minority but don't look at myself that way but obviously Elliot did. He seemed to be a West County Boy (west Sonoma County) lacquered in something other than kindness. He intentionally denied my checkin as a Diamond Member and never acknowledged me as such. I know the line in Hilton: " Thank You For being a Diamond Member....". Fast forward to 5 pm. Elliot still not letting me check in. I'm waiting in the lobby being super quiet and obviously aware of his tactics. Another person, female, comes by and ask me if the could help. I say yes I'm trying to check in. She says "Yes there are other rooms available would you like to check in". Of course I quickly take her offer and check in. I ask the housekeeping, where do you get ice? She says the front desk. I go back and guess who is there? Yup Elliot He says "OH yeah I will get you ice " . He goes around the front desk so I cannot see him. I hear him grunt out a big loogie as he cleared his throat rummaging with the ice scooper. Well at that point, I drive to the store to buy my own ice. True story The other thing which was also very odd about this Tapestry Hilton were the holes in the towels. As ai waiting in the pool area, several other guests called to complain about holes in all the towels at the pool. Later once I entered my room, I noticed the same thing. All of the bath large towels had holes. Odd... And the phish is walking way far away from West County Elliot.....

All that said, there were a few service touchpoints that felt out of step with a Michelin three-star and #1 La Liste experience. My husband and I were hosting local friends to celebrate a major milestone of theirs. I had pre-ordered and pre-authorized Champagne to be ready on the terrace upon arrival. Instead, we were led to our seats, handed beverage menus, and asked for our order -- I shouldn't have had to remind the restaurant of an arrangement I'd made in advance. Worse, after we'd already taken our first sips, a server tried to top off my glass from another table's bottle of Champagne. These things happen, but it reads as sloppy and unprepared for an establishment of this level. Once we moved into the dining room, things were looking up -- until the wine glasses arrived. Two of the four had to be sent back for a soapy smell. That's simply not acceptable at a three-star establishment. It's a shame these lapses colored the experience this way because at this price point and with these accolades, I expected more. Instead I'm left thinking back to the Charlie Trotter's two stars and wondering what kind of curve Michelin might be using.
