I bought a bouquet for a friend and I was completely embarrassed when my friend opened the bouquet. They used old stems that were covered up by all the packaging. Supermarket would have been a better option for a regular bouquet. read more

I was in a bind a few weeks ago and absolutely needed a dozen white roses in a big hurry. Everywhere else I'd gone to, the white roses were... uh... not white. Lots of very pale green, lots of brown-on-the-petal-tips, lots of pinkish-cream, but no truly white or cream roses in good condition. A coworker recommended I give Flowerland a call, and I'm so glad I did. I called at about 9:15 in the morning and they had a bouquet of roses ready for me before noon. They were put together beautifully, and the staff there were super nice both over the phone and in person. Yes, the flowers were pricey, but it's about what I was expecting by going to a florist instead of buying supermarket flowers. Their space was absolutely gorgeous - very open and architecturally interesting. Everything was very clean, and the flowers they had on display were so beautiful. The only "problem" I had was that I had to circle the block a few times to find a parking space, but that's pretty standard for Bloomfield Ave. at lunchtime. Otherwise, this was a great experience, and I know who I will be calling the next time I need a special order of flowers. read more

There is nothing wrong with the plant that Caldwell Flowerland delivered. It's the right size and has healthy plants. I am a little disappointed as I went directly to the website to place the order and I did not expect that what I ordered would be different than what was delivered. I can certainly understand this on a 1-800 flowers order but I tried to avoid that by going to their website. Personally I would not have chosen the pot or plants they used. That being said there was nothing wrong with what they delivered. It's just not what I was expecting. First photo ordered. Second photo delivered I would suggest going to the store in person to see the selection as opposed to how it is pictured on the Internet. read more

Amazing florists and amazing people! I came in here to get a rather "odd" flower arrangement made for my grandfathers funeral. He was a silly man and marched to the beat of his own drum. So I requested a rubber chicken be put in the middle. They did such an amazing job for me. It brought me to tears. There was no judgment on their end. All I can say is that I've never seen or witnessed the most unprofessional business owner ever. I was in the store and witnessed the owner yelling and screaming at a customer actually cursing at them that they couldn't do what they ask them to do. I don't know what happened to this place but I will never ever give them my business after witnessing how they treated that person. The customer stayed calm as can be and kept their composure which I must commend. I actually decided to leave and take my business somewhere else after witnessing this. no matter what your situation may be as a business owner you must keep your professional life and personal life separate and not take it out on someone else. If this is what this place is going to turn into it won't be long till you're packing your bags. No one should ever have to deal with that or want to deal with something like that. You are in a very tight community with people that are very respectful and want to give business to local business owners, and there are far too many shops that are around that are more than happy to take your business and work with you the best they can and discuss What they can and can't do for you. Or just flat out unable to do what you asked for because they don't have the skill. read more

I want to give a shout out to Gary and the staff at Caldwell Flowerland for going above and beyond for me this Mother's Day. There was a mix up with my order where I ended up receiving an orchid that was a different color than what I had ordered. I called to see if there had been a mistake with the delivery, and it turned out that the plant that was delivered was the only one they had received from their supplier. Gary was very apologetic and told me I could come by later this week to pick up a replacement plant. Later in the afternoon, as we were getting ready for dinner, there was a knock at the door. Gary had personally delivered a replacement orchid (which was absolutely beautiful) plus a bunch of Mother's Day balloons (which was a huge hit with our kiddos). It was an incredibly thoughtful gesture and one that I appreciated very much. Thank you!! read more

Whatever you do, ask for Gary!!! He made all my envisions become reality. I wanted an elegant/romantic feel to our engagement party and he did absolutely that! He added such details to the kissing balls. They popped and were so classy! Everyone wanted to take one home. He even added rhinestones and crystals going down the iron stand. Well let me first say that this place had the potential to receive a better rating than one star. One would think that after an order was completed there wouldn't be a need for further interaction with store employees. Read further for a nightmarish customer service story. My wife and I used them for our wedding in June. The flowers were at a price that was more reasonable than other places. We agreed on the type of flowers and centerpieces without an issue and the flowers were nice. We gave our credit card information to an employee over the phone on the day of our wedding and believed that would be the end of it. A few months after the wedding we received an email from an employee (Amy) stating that she had written our credit card number down, lost it, and charged someone else's card mistakenly. We get that mistakes happen and would have given our info a second time. However, Amy told us that we would have to pay her directly in cash or check. For us this was a red flag. Why wouldn't she just take a credit card? We were told that the owners docked her pay for the mistake and she paid out of her own pocket. For one, this is unheard of as a business practice and secondly, she spoke ill of the owners saying that if we paid the business directly they would be paid double and they would not reimburse her still. After a few more emails we repeatedly offered to pay with our credit card but she insisted that we pay her directly with cash or check until she basically said to forget it. Fast forward a few months, Amy then sent an email with the invoice attached. Within the invoice was a message saying to call us with our credit card information then asking how we could overlook this and *SHE* needs to get paid. We're not sure what happened that a credit card was now acceptable but who in their right mind would give their credit card info over the phone after it was the cause of this whole fiasco. I then went in a few days later to settle the payment. I went in on a Saturday and met Amy to give her my card and explained to her why we wouldn't give it over the phone. As she pulled up the invoice I could see that my wife's credit card information was in the system! Her name, last 4, and expiration date were there. How and why was that not seen prior? Anyhow, I thought that would be the end of it. The following Monday, I received an alert from Visa stating that my card was processed a second time by Flowerland for an amount that was different from what was charged on Saturday. My wife immediately called and spoke with some man named Gary who claimed to be the manager. The way that Gary spoke to my wife was completely unacceptable. He made accusations of her relying on mommy and daddy to pay for things since we thought they had paid for the flowers to surprise us as there weren't any charges on our credit card statement. Gary then said that we're not good human beings because we didn't check the last four numbers of the credit card, which would have caught their mistake and subsequent actions. Gary then stated that the original credit card had not gone though and even went as far as texting a picture of all credit card transactions with mine clearly stating "swiped" and "purchase" with no issues. Additionally, the picture had every customer's first and last four credit card digits with expiration dates as well as amounts of transactions. I don't think any manager should divulge that information to anyone, especially via text. The fact that a manager would make inflammatory accusations and say we're not good human beings is just off putting. Gary had requested the charge be reversed (and it was) but I am left wondering why it was processed a second time without my authorization? This contradicts what my wife was told on the phone as to why her stored credit card info wasn't processed over the 6+ months since initial attempted payment; they can't process credit cards without authorization. Clearly in this case I didn't authorize a second charge. Altogether our experience took a turn for the worse and ultimately became one of the worst experiences we've had with any business. Be very weary about using them and be sure to monitor your form of payment. It seems like they were trying to pull a fast one here and fortunately I caught it before it went any further. read more

What an excellent job Caldwell Flowerland does on creating and delivering their gift arrangements. They have green, living plant compositions in beautiful "Roseville"- like ceramic bowls that everyone LOVES when they get them.....so many compliments! I'm so glad to have this great, trustworthy flower and gift resource. The shop space is amazing in itself (a vintage, two story loft) and they even host events. Its right on Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell Center, but you feel more like you're in a piazza in Italy! read more

I've used this florist so many times and either the delivery doesn't show up or gets delivered at a ridiculous hour. I've given them too many chances. What good does a flower delivery at 8pm do me on Valentine's Day? I'm out to dinner with my wife now and the guy is just going to have to leave them in sub zero temperatures all night. Grew up in the area and moved back here a year ago. My husband ordered me flowers for my birthday in March. They were delivered looking fully bloomed and just on the verge of looking like they were going to wilt. Sure enough the expensive arrangement lasted two days! Completely disappointed I told him not to order from them again. To my surprise he ordered another arrangement for Mothers Day and said he gave them another shot. The arrangement came with some roses that arrived fully bloomed and already slightly brown around the edges. Recently threw a Bridal Shower at this location. The ambiance of this location is amazing. The walls were dressed with flowers and rustic decorations from head to toe, which made the pictures surreal. Unfortunately, the two workers that stayed to help us the day of were impolite and not understanding. The entire bridal party and immediate family felt unwanted and as if we were a nuisance. Thankfully, as our event progressed, the attitudes were masked and our guests did not feel the tone that was set in the beginning of the day. Our bride and guests had an amazing time and were surrounded by such beauty, which we are thankful for! Would recommend this venue, but would also recommend being very clear with your expectations (multiple times) so that you are fully prepared on the day of your event. read more

I ordered $85 flowers to be delivered yesterday, the day before Valentines day. I placed the order at around 1:00pm. The next day I called my girlfriend to see if she got them and she hadn't. I called the flower shop and an hour later they called back and said that because of the weather, they didn't deliver the flowers. No phone call or anything. Today is Valentines day, she is at work in NYC and I can't get any flowers to her. They were very rude on the phone and only offered to refund my card...... only two reviews and both just one star. well, let me first start off by saying. I picked the date of April 4,2014, which I was told was availible, I looked at venue with my fiance and I left a deposit for our special day. I then proceeded to do what any new bride to be would do, I created the theme for my save the dates and sent them out accordingly. Everytime i tried to call the venue about logistics for my event, no one bothered to return my call, I work at least 9 hours a day where i do not have the time to stop by for every little question that I may have. I then recieved a call two weeks before thankgiving letting me know that my date of April 4rth was no longer availible, how does one return a call about a date cancellation but never to answer any of my wedding detail questions. They "SAID" that the date was no longer availible due to the fact that it was the day before easter. Now, who in their right mind allowed the date to be booked in the first place and overlooked such a big detail. Who does their event planning? and why so late of notice? I mean generally I would think that they look at their upcoming events in advance to plan accordingly. But maybe others arent as effivient as myself. But i would expect that they would have at least refunded me for my save the dates. The voicemail I recieved from thje owner was arrogant ad unprofessional, telling me that he didnt have to refund me and that I could speak to his lawyer. Obviously this in NOT a place I would reccomend for anyone who is looking to get married here..... Sincerely, better safe then sorry! read more

Wow! Just had my future daughter-in-law's Bridal Shower here this past Sunday. I made a reservation here without even checking the place out first. It was a recommendation from my sister....I trust her. During the day, it is a full-on flower shop. For special occasions, they clear out an area in the front of the store and set up tables with linens and chairs (all included). When I walked in and saw this place on the day of the shower, I was beyond thrilled!!! Since the building is over 100 years old, they have high tin ceilings, brick walls and is just so inviting. I would recommend this venue in a heart beat!! Everyone contacted me the next day and said what a lovely place to have a shower, or any event, for that matter. Amy was on top of things with all the information necessary a couple of weeks before the shower. Parking was not an issue, since there is a Municipal Parking lot in the back of the store and there is a back entrance into the shop.
