My daughter began her bi-annual visits here at 3 years old. Her cleanings went well, the office staff was very friendly. During her one of her exams when she was 4, they did x-rays and said she had the beginnings of a cavity (or two? I can't remember). And asked me if I wanted to get fillings right away. The dentist was out that day. She said I could wait and hear back from him on whether he'd recommend treating right away or waiting to see how they look at her next cleaning (6 mo. From then.) I didn't hear from him, so I called the office to see if he'd looked at her chart. The consensus was that I could wait until her next appointment, and to be using fluoride mouthwash & floss in the meantime, which we did. I felt good about that choice. During her next visit, which wasn't until 9 months later because of COVID shutting everything down, the dentist said she'd need two crowns. Naturally I was shocked, and saddened that her "beginnings of a cavity" had progressed so quickly. They only offer stainless steel crowns at this office, and I didn't want to use those because her teeth that need them are her first molars, which won't fall out until she's 9 years old, so I decided to take her elsewhere to get porcelain crowns done, and for a second opinion. When I took her to a different office, I was informed that kid's enamel is much thinner than adults, so cavities progress much quicker. I had no idea. If I had know this, I absolutely would have had the cavities filled right away, rather than wait. I am not blaming this dentist office for my little girl having cavities. I am her mother and I take responsibility for that. But if the care and time had been spent by one of their staff informing me that "if you wait until the next visit, she may need crowns by then because baby teeth are different than adults"... she wouldn't have to go through getting crowns. Because who wants to put their child through that? We won't be returning here. read more

Attempted to pressure me into a treatment I was not comfortable with with my 4 year old child. I would not recommend this dentist.

You have to force the dentist here to communicate with you, the parent. They are dismissive and do not listen. I will never take my child back to this place. Zero communication, pressure to complete procedures without adequate information, and an overall hussled and dismissive atmosphere. Please take your children somewhere else. I did. Both Dr. Mirna & Robert are awesome. The staff is very patient with my boys who had a traumatic experience at 3 with a former dentist trying to make trays to stop him from grinding his teeth. I was told by others that this would be a waste of money at that age. Not to mention, we were holding down my son to get the molds completed. He was scared and I felt so bad after leaving! No wonder kids don't like going to the dentist. I then was referred to Caldwell Pediatric! Other than him overcoming this experience, we have always been treated nice. When asked, they emailed me copies of my kids x-rays. The dental hygienist is always patient and trying to calm the kids and make them comfortable! Mirna and Robert Caldwell have really perfected a comfortable dentist experience for kids. I wish I had a place like this to go when I was a kid. Because of the comfortable atmosphere, the super friendly dental assistants, and the tv's the kids seem oblivious to the fact that they are actually not supposed to enjoy going to the dentist. I see kids smiling, enjoying their cleanings and getting lessons on how to floss. My daughter had a hard time using the bite wings for x-rays and they just said no problem we'll wait until next visit. They didn't see a need to force her to do something that was uncomfortable and give her a bad experience. I appreciate that. read more

The staff is great with the children. Dr. Rob is friendly and thorough... Extremely great experience for the children. I cannot say the same for the receptionist. Every time I come, she is talking way too loud (practically yelling) to a parent when they are checking out and she tells all of their child's business as well as the parents financial business. She is also very condescending. It's uncomfortable just to be sitting there listening to her do that. She either needs to learn to use her inside voice or they need to give her an office. If she ever talked to me like that I'd have a few words to say to her. read more

A dental office has always been a scary place for me, but I have to say that if I had doctors like Dr. Mirna and Dr. Rob growing up, I would never have had that fear! Both are extremely friendly, mild mannered, and wonderful with children, not to mention experts in their field. I'm sure a lot of people have had a good experience with them. I called them in November to schedule an appointment because I noticed a black spot on my sons tooth. I had to wait 2 months just for them to look at it and tell me he had a cavity. I had to wait 2 more months just to get it fixed. They canceled my appointment due to bad weather. I had to wait 2 more months because they canceled. On that appointment my son had a rash so understandably they wouldn't see him. I called to reschedule and I was informed I would have to wait 3 more months. I explained all of this and told them my sons tooth now has a hole. They were completely unsympathetic. They told me if I cleaned my sons teeth properly that it shouldn't get any worse. I am in tears over this ridiculous situation. I wouldn't recommend on scheduling alone. read more

Unprofessional and immature. 7 am appts twice a year for the past 4 years. The dentist is never there before 7:30 ensuring we wait for her after our 10 minute cleaning. Crown was needed after DMD advised "beginnings of a cavity, no need to act." Before next appt tooth was broken. Estimate of crown was $217. Received a bill for another $91 after visit. Never had this issue w/any other estimate/procedure at any other office, PCP/DMD alike as estimates and coverage are routine. Today the dental assistant/hygienist discussed her house being broken into while cleaning my 7 yrs old teeth. Inappropriate discussion in an office that services children. After we had been waiting to be seen I asked, in private and not in front of children, if the DMD was on her way to the office? The same assistant laughed and said yes. When the DMD arrived after 7:30 she walked into a room that now had 3 children in it and said "sorry mom that i made you wait an extra 10 minutes." Very mature. You really got me w/that jab and the same assistant was behind me laughing like her boss really nailed me. I didn't respond and so she proceeded to tell me that maybe she shouldn't have come in today, she wasn't feeling well and she was so sorry. None of this in a sincere tone, all sarcasm....while my 7 yr old is laid out on a chair underneath her just wanting to leave. I told her it had been longer than 10 minutes, that this is happens every time. She asked if I had the first appt of the day to which i replied yes, we come at 7am every time. I told her this can be discussed privately and not in front of children. Her examination of my daughters teeth was literally less than 2 minutes. No call outs or notes for her assistant. When we got up she said "mom" and I told her I was all set. What professional tries to mock and scold a parent in front of children while her staff stands in the corner laughing? I have driven from Madison to this location, out of my way, for years b/c this office had good reviews online and I wanted the best for my daughter. Not someone who continuously valued their own time over ours every single visit and thinks it's appropriate to have adult conversations in front of children. read more

Very bad experience! First of all, there is no toy in the waiting area but a game machine! And TVs are everywhere including the teeth cleaning area. It is a streamline factory but a doctor's office. There are about ten nurses cleaning the teeth and only one doctor around. I waited more than an hour to be called by a nurse. Then another 30 minute to talk to the doctor for 1 minute. She does not have time or patience for your little one. For god's sake, there are probably ten other kids waiting in the same teeth cleaning area to speak to her read more

I just came back from this dentist office and WOW! Now I know why they have a wait list for new patients! So glad I waited! Dr. Caldwell is amazing! She treats all the kids very special. Even though she has to examine many, she makes you feel like each one is special. She is smiling and genuinely cares about the children. The front staff was very pleasant and welcoming. The dental hygienists were kind, careful and patient with the kids. They all appeared to be supportive of each other. A well oiled machine!! So glad I was referred to Caldwell Pediatrics. When I lost my dental insurance and found out that these guys wanted to charge me more than they charged my old insurance, I asked for an adjustment to the previous amount. They fed me some bogus story about how how I didn't know what I was talking about and couldn't do it. When I left to go to a cheaper dentist, both the husband and wife called my house multiple times to harrass me and tell me again how I didn't know what I was talking about and just needed to pay the higher price. Then all of a sudden they remembered some fee that I owed and kept sending me bills until I paid them off to stop harrassing me. read more

DON'T TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE. PLEASE FOR THEIR WELL BEING. Dr. Rob and random nurse messed my daughters teeth up. First time she went for filling and a nurse started the procedure .She put the sliver crown on the tooth that was getting fixed but couldn't properly place it on the tooth, so she pulled out the crown aggressively and placed it back. She did this about 4 times. Didn't ask if my child was ok once.... as 3 tears began to roll down her face. The next event took place in February, she went back for her last filling. This time was more serious. My daughter now deals with nerve exposure on her right side of her mouth just because Dr. Rob was trying to get to other patients faster. He dug wayyyy to deep into the tooth where the nerve became irritated and later led to exposure we know that because we went to the emergency room where they told us what it was. NOW I CAN'T SLEEP, EAT, TALK WITHOUT GETTING SHARP ASS PAINS IN MY FUCKING MOUTH DAMN. Sorry, that was my daughter. LUCK IAN SNITCH TO THE INSURANCE AND THATS WHY YALL MF WATER FOUNTAINS DON'T EVEN WORK HAHA. Sorry she took my phone again. She no longer can go a day without an intake of pain killers. read more

I am unhappy to report that I had a very negative experience at Caldwell Pediatric Dentistry last week. My toddler recently chipped his front teeth during a fall while playing and learning to run, and I brought him into get assessed and see what could be done to repair his dental situation. Dr. Caldwell was short, rude, and very judgmental about the fact that I still nurse my son, despite the fact that that is my personal parenting choice and highly recommended by my pediatrician. He basically suggested that by continuing to breastfeed my son, I am causing him damage and an irresponsible parent. I was very shocked and hurt by the things he said in the manner in which she said them. He was also very dismissive, and wouldn't explain to me the details of the procedure he wanted to schedule for my son. I was visibly crying by the end of our conversation, and he just acted irritated and annoyed when I was very very concerned about my sons dental needs. Thankfully, there was a very kind nurse who was very sweet to me and helped better explain what the procedure would consist of and how they would go about it. I found all of the staff there to be extremely kind, sweet, and understanding- except for Dr. Caldwell. I still plan on keeping my appointment for my son's procedure, simply because I don't want him to have to wait any longer than necessary to get his teeth repaired. But I am still very upset over the treatment I received from the dentist. My son is 15 months old and the dental issue he has is because of a fall he took while learning to run; it had nothing to do with the fact that I still breastfeed him. I see from the other reviews posted here at my experience is not typical and most people are pretty happy with the service they received their, but I am very very displeased with what I experienced. read more

I contacted this dentist Monday morning after taking my son to the ER Sunday evening for unbearable tooth pain. I explained my situation to the front desk lady and made it clear that I needed to be seen and TREATED same day. She spoke to the other person in the office while scheduling me, asking them questions with out asking me to hold on (please, hold) making it that awkward situation like, are you talking to me, or, okay.. no she's talking to them. Okay now I think she is talking to me..? After a few times I realized she was simply being rude/ didn't have telephone etiquette/ proper training. But since I was desperate and she was scheduling me I was thankful there was an end in sight to my son's pain. I met a really nice mother in the waiting area and that made the long wait better. But let me tell you about this wait... The waiting room is super small and LOUD! The unprofessional woman that scheduled me checked me in, I could tell it was her (I have read on a review someone call her condescending - that's on point, she has a I am better than you and your insurance card smells bad, attitude). We moved on through to the LOUD area because my son wanted to play the nintendo. One of the three electronic games on the wall was broken and I can see why. Parents bring their children in there and let them run buck wild. I felt like I was in an underprivileged, government funded, unsanitary daycare (no wonder Mrs. Frontdesk has that attitude). I chose Caldwell based on reading about the dentists and their location (not on real life reviews). I figured Brentwood would be promising. Well it got worse as we finally got called back. The girl that VERY QUICKLY (and efficiently) took my five year old's xrays rushed us through and we were sitting in the chair listening to a one year old scream during his exam 7 feet away for a good 5 minutes waiting on the dentist. The hygienist was very nice, but it is clear they are there to turn out mouths not to get to know your kid. So the dentist comes over and looks in my son's mouth and begins discussing what she sees on the xray. My husband and I have a few questions, which gosh, the spotlight was on us as there were 3 other patient chairs with parents and siblings in this tiny room. We ask the questions, Dr. Mina was short, impatient and looked and spoke to us like we were ignorant and then the kicker came when I said 'well can you just fix the one that is bothering him today and we will get a treatment plan for the rest that you see?' I will never forget the look on her face and the accompanying disappointment that I felt as she rejected with intensity the thought that she could consult AND treat in the same day. My heart was in my feet. We had waited all day and then another hour in the waiting room, 45 minutes from home expecting that he would get his tooth fixed that day - based on what the front desk girl scheduled for me. What's worse, they ONLY do sedation's on Tuesdays so when we went to schedule they wanted to put us two weeks out - but - luckily a nice one in the front somehow cleared us a spot for next day. Ready? We came in next day, my son took the sedation drink, waited for it to kick in, went back and 5 minutes later they call me back... Apparently the tooth has an infection (not absessed at that point) and we could not be treated that day. Instead he sent us home with ammox and another appointment in two weeks. Needless to say, I found another dentist that pulled the tooth the following week and will never step foot back in Caldwell. I WILL say: the other people in the front desk are very nice. The man and the older lady that do the insurance and schedule your return visit and one other girl were all friendly and helpful. The hygenist was really nice on my return visit and spent a little time consoling me (since I had a hard time swallowing that my son had just been sedated and wasn't getting his tooth fixed). She was not as busy as the afternoon before and was sincere and kind. The man Dr. who was going to do my son's work that had to deliver the bad news was very nice. I felt safe with him. His wife was in a super hurry the day before -and I understand her position - it's very stressful dealing with screaming kids, she has kids of her own, it was the afternoon rush - I get it. But I feel like if she had taken a little more time she could have seen that infection and sent us home with antibiotics that day with a better plan. My child was in pain and she had no sympathy. That's what doctor's are for - helping people out of their pain. I was counting on her and was deeply disappointed. read more

We have been taking our son to Caldwell Pediatric Dentistry for several years now and have always had great experiences. The front desk staff is welcoming and professional. All of the dental hygienists are very sweet and do a great job with cleanings. Both Dr. Rob and Dr. Mirna have taken care of our son. They are amazing with him! They are so friendly and really know how to put him at ease. He actually loves going to the dentist! We have been to other pediatric dentist offices in the past, but this one is definitely the best! read more

This is a great Dental Practice! We went here for a second opinion after I was told at my 2yr olds first visit (elsewhere) that he had a cavity that needed a filling under general anesthesia (a surprise as we have been kinda crazy about oral care....brush and floss twice daily, no juice, etc.). When I called the office back to discuss more conservative treatment options, as my husband and I were just not comfortable with general anesthesia for one cavity for our 2 yr old, I was basically told that if I even waited 6months the cavity would grow and spread necessitating extraction and a spacer...a real doomsday scenario. I sought a second opinion at Caldwell Pediatric Dentistry and they agreed that general anesthesia was quite aggressive for one small cavity. We are on a treatment plan that includes follow up oral exams to make sure the cavity is not growing at an alarming wait (as well as normal good oral hygiene practice), and when the time comes when my son is a little older it will get filled in the office with oral sedation/analgesia. Dr. Mirna Caldwell was amazing with my son and really listened to my husband's and my concerns and answered all our questions. When we left the waiting room was full, I know why! read more
