She fell on a pumpkin at a pumpkin patch at 4 years old and her two front teeth became impacted in her gums. We had to surgically remove her two front teeth. It was a painful procedure and he was so sensitive with cosmetic concerns from me and pain concerns from her! Dr. Cregger is also very conservative on all procedures and I have always felt he is in this speciality for his love of pediatrics and dentistry, not for making exorbitant profit at the expense of the children and parents. His staff is also spectacular. There is very little turnover in assistants and they always remember specific details about my kids. They are also open on Fridays which is a huge plus for me.

I went to two different dentists before them regarding dental work my son needed done. I was quoted 2300 before any insurance. When I showed them this paperwork they scoffed at the cost and how much it would be and verbally told me they couldn't imagine how a filling would be that much. They told me they accepted United Healthcare and they verified my insurance on my first visit. (We had four total over a month long). Turns out they just verified that I had insurance not any of the benefits. I was told today "We do accept United Healthcare just not all plans". Had they been more honest and upfront about the situation I wouldn't be so upset and might consider going back. I would have even went back as a cash pay patient because I liked them so much with my son. United Healthcare wound up denying the entire bill of $2200, and they are telling us there is nothing that I can do on either end. Dr. Buzz's office DOES NOT offer any cash prices if they are expecting you to pay the full price. Which is the first dentist I have ever been to that does not. They also do not offer any payment plan regardless of situation. I had 16 fillings redone in my own mouth through another dentist and I paid less than what they are charging me for the 6 my son had done. I am currently in the processes of appealing it with my insurance to try to get it covered but the dental office itself will not do anything. It is a shame considering the staff was fantastic up until this point. This is one of the better pediatric dental facilities that I have ever been too. And I will never return because of the billing itself. I was also told today they cannot verify the benefits because United Healthcare changed their policies and does not allow providers to speak to them what so ever. I personally work with United Healthcare and happen to know that is not true. I also got verification from United Healthcare that that is not true. They have an entire Provider Service side for the providers. Given our experience, we do not believe this practice prioritizes patient financial interests. My wife came in for a routine cleaning in March 2026 and presented our new insurance (Guardian DentalGuard Preferred) but was never informed it was out of network. Because of this, we did not get the opportunity to seek care elsewhere before services were rendered. Had we been known we were out of network, we would have gone to an in-network provider and owed nothing. Instead, we received a bill *months later* for $183. Their website says "We accept all traditional dental PPO insurances" and tells you to hand over your insurance card so they can "handle the hassle of dealing with insurance companies." A reasonable patient assumes that means they'll flag anything important about your coverage. Instead, we were told that they "assume all patients are aware of their network status", even though confirming this assumption would be as simple as an extra sentence or two. To make things worse, Guardian's own provider directory still lists a former Rachel Oates location as in-network... so even if you do your homework through Guardian's tools, you may still get the wrong answer. We tried multiple times to resolve this directly. No acknowledgment, no movement on the bill. If are a patient, or want to be one, we recommend: 1.) Call your insurer directly to confirm this practice is in network. Do not ask the practice. 2.) Review all coverage details beforehand so you are personally knowledgeable about any potential costs. 3.) Ask for a cost estimate before any work is done. In our experience, they do not offer this proactively. Or, just go to another dental practice that does these things for you.

We were given a 3-4 week away appointment. (No empathy shown from staff. ) This inevitably caused a lot of tears and hopelessness due to the state of our baby and the powerlessness we felt in the situation. Thank God we were advised by a lactation consultant to go to Dr. Baxter in Birmingham! (Sounds like a crazy drive but it isn't and is worth it plus June coffee company is there.) He has emergency appointments RESERVED for parents like us and prioritizes us due to the gravity of the situation. Also... Dr. Baxter just so happens to have written the book on best practices, TongueTied. He also prays over the patient/fam before laser surgery. Truly beautiful PLEASE go where your child will be valued and receive top level of care!
