Rapp is located in an industrial area off of Brian Dairy Road. When I arrived on a Saturday at 4pm there was only one parking spot left in the lot. It seemed fairly busy inside but not packed, so there may be parking issues here. The inside looks like a warehouse but separated into three rooms, with one room containing the bar. There are only 3 bar stools at the bar so most of the service is walk up. You order your beers and then return to your table. The line could range from 1 to 8 customers at any time. They do not serve food but it seems that they have regularly scheduled food trucks. The food truck that was serving on this occasion was Mestizo. The beers are above average. They have the usual variety: IPAs, stouts, lagers, sours. Prices are normal compared to other breweries. If I were in the area, I would stop by again to try more of their beer list. read more

The service was great and there seemed to be some locals that were entertaining to banter with. They have flight options, I opted for a flight of 4 for $15 which I think is a deal honestly. Beers tried: - peach blonde ale - Neapolitan Stout - Chocobananos wheat - lemon cream donut sour cream The peach was my favorite but they were all pretty good. I will say none of them were super cold, but they weren't like terribly warm either. They don't have food, which never bothers me but watch for food truck schedules. Really great selection of beers and since they are a micro brewery it's always changing. They do an amazing Baltic Porter that just won Gold. The staff was attentive and eager to discuss the beers and to offer samples. Although they were busy, we were able to get a table. Rocky's food truck was there and we ordered a delicious pizza complete with fresh basil scattered generously over the top. My second beer was their Oktoberfest and it hit the spot. My husband and I love going to Rapp Brewing when we are visiting the St. Petersburg area. They always have a great selection of beers to choose from. My usual order is their Hefeweizen, which I love, and I give Rapp the credit for this obsession of mine now several years ago. This time though, I was drawn to the smooth Blueberry Donut Stout. Rapp brewing has been one of the staples for the craft beer scene in Tampa bay for years. They have an indoor tasting room with a small bar, outdoor covered and outdoor open space. Decorated with flags of countries. They have so many different styles of beer available. They offer flights up to 9 beers. Decided to share and check out 9 different beers, from sours to heavy IPAs and imperial stout. All had good flavor, my favorite was the Chocolate bourbon caramel imperial pastry stout at 8.1%. Well balanced and delicious. They are open Tuesday 3-9PM, Wednesday and Thursday 3-10PM, Friday 3-11PM, Saturday 2-11PM and Sunday 1-8PM. Beertender was very friendly and knowledgeable about the beers and gave great recommendations. They also have food trucks on the weekends. They had "Asian mix" when we were there and the food was outstanding. There's parking available in a large parking lot out front. read more

A small brewery that's apparently a pioneer in Tampa Bay craft beer, which I somehow never came across until a visit at the end of June 2023. They tilt toward European beer styles, along with experimental revivals of truly ancient brews. I had a flight, plus an extra taster of a beer brewed without hops in one of those ancient styles. All the beers were great, and the staff seemed genuinely enthusiastic. It's also a good atmosphere for us quiet types who come to breweries to write on our laptops. (Nothing wrong with writing at coffee shops, but breweries with wifi beat them!) read more

I came here on a Tuesday around 5:30pm. Happy hour anywhere in the world. They have bar seating which seat 3 and an inside seating area with several tables. There is also an adjacent garage area that is covered and dog friendly. The dog had to remain close to me and seated but either way he was allowed with me. They had 2 Options for IPA's and for anyone that follows me knows that's my choice! They had a Black IPA and a double IPA I tasted both and must say that each was delicious. There were 5 people around the bar and the noise level was still super quite. The outside Garage area has its own entrance and does not connect directly to the brewery. You walk in grab a beer, walk out and sit in the garage area. ( This is for dog owners only) There was not food truck on this specific day, which bummed me out. If you come here your coming for beer and I must say it's a 10/10 for the beer. read more

Rapp was another add-on to my burgeoning brew tour of St. Petersburg that became Tampa-St. Petersburg and the surrounding areas. When I discovered they were hosting a bacon and beer event the weekend I was going to be in town, I responded with "What city? And how do we get there?" Surprisingly, Rapp is not much of a drive from Downtown St. Petersburg where we were staying. Nestled in Seminole in between the former and Clearwater, the brewery may call itself nano-sized but they produce a ton of beer -- with 40 alone on tap (all made in-house). These guys don't mess around. They are passionate about their ales and lagers, with a strong emphasis on German traditions of beer-making, while approaching with a 21st century nuance and free spiritness. The brewery, like many I know in South Florida, is located in a nondescript industrial park within a sizable warehouse. Along with the production facility, there is a small taproom and a vast garage area that allows for plenty of people to come enjoy beers, hangout, and play various games such as Foosball and ping-pong. The vibes are very German-inspired with flags and other trinkets and knickknacks. This makes sense when you discover the owner has German heritage with his great grandfather having run a brewery in his lifetime. Being I was there to try bacon-inspired beers, my flight preference went in that direction. The results were hit-or-miss as most bacon-inspired beers have been regardless of the brewery. But I did like Rapp's ability to take chances such as with their Bacon Lichtenhainer, despite not quite liking how the smokiness of the bacon went against the citrusy sourness. While aforementioned was not up my alley, the Campfire S'mores Stout, along with the Maple Bacon Milk Stout and Chocolate Bacon Stout were much better. The latter had a nice chocolate-like roastiness, as well as the Maple Bacon Stout that also had a hint of bacon on the back-end. The Campfire S'mores was my favorite, tasting like s'mores between the marshmallows, chocolate, and a hint of graham crackers. I'll have to return when I'm back in the area as there's so many beers I didn't have a chance to try. They are certainly worth a second visit. read more

Upgrading to five stars. They may not be in a trendy location, but they make consistently great beer, in all varieties. They started off brewing beers in the German tradition and they make some very excellent lagers, but they really do excel in all categories, with an impressive array of options. Chocolate peanut butter stout? Chocolate habanero stout? Oaked DIPA? Up to 10 sours/goses at a time? Ginger beer? You can't go wrong. They have plenty of seating, both air-conditioned and open-air. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. There's often a food truck. And due to the lack of trendy location- there's parking. Definitely a solid spot on the "Gulp Coast" Ale Trail. read more

There is an open garage area that has the largest amount of seating. The actual bar is a smaller climate-controlled area. As most breweries in Florida, it is located in an industrial/office area. I've soured on this place unfortunately throughout the years. The prices here are easily 50% or more above what I'm used to in and around Asheville & Orlando. The beers are on par with what others offer. Also, what happened to the flight of 9? And why aren't ciders on flight list? And why the hell do they cost more than beer for smaller sizes? Was not expecting this in an industrial area in Seminole! 40 house made drafts to choose from (to be honest I almost locked up at so many choices....almost) The service was fantastic (Eric was our bartender) and as we drank we could overhear the staff talking about brewing etc. Its obvious that the owners and staff have a passion for beer! I did two flights plus a pint. My favorites were the Japaneses lager and the Earl Grey. The beers each had thier own distinctive style and nuance, The Japanese lager was crisp and bold. It reminded my a Sapporo on steroids. The Earl Grey was quite distinctive. The bergamont (its what makes 'Earl Grey" "Earl Grey" was noticeable but did not overwhelm the rest of the beer. Food choices are limited to package snacks but as a plus they do have a scheduled rotation of food trucks that come by. It also has ping pong and apparently a noteworthy Foosball tournament for those interested. read more

They've been around a long time, and have a steep tradition in the craft beer industry here in Pinellas County. Their menu is amazing and very diverse. They even have expanded to Ginger Beers which are my wife's favorite. They had 7 varieties the last time we went. She recommends the Cherry-Lime and the Passionfruit. They didn't have Dragonfruit but if they have it when you go, give it a try. It's her #1. I won't go into detail about the beers I like there because what I order depends on the food truck that is there on that day. I can always find a delicious beer I want no matter the food. On that note, we love Got Lobstah and Rocky's Pizza truck. Unfortunately Rocky has gone back home north for the summer so we'll have to wait a few months before he gets back. Rocky and Got Lobstah are the best you can get for pizza and lobster rolls. Here's the problem. Their place is 3 bays in a typical industrial strip. They could easily be a tire or auto repair shop. The taproom is one bay, much too small. They say they are dog friendly, but they don't allow anything but service dogs in their taproom. I have no problem with that as it's too small a space for more than 2 dogs or so to occupy. The 2 remaining bays are a useless waste of space. Small inadequate fans, uneven tables and chairs, ping pong, and foosball tables with one nongender bathroom. It's stuffy and uncomfortable. I would think that with their stellar reputation and long-term success in the area, they can do better for their customers. On another note, the food isn't cheap (no problem) , lol, but we deserve a better environment to consume the wonderful combination of great food and drinks in a comfortable environment. The taproom needs to be expanded so whether you have a pet or not, you can enjoy the experience in comfort. read more

Very GREAT beer, very boring pourers. Can't really call them bartenders when they are just pouring beer, but I wish they would smile and be more welcoming. It feels like the second you walk in they are annoyed you're bothering them.. This place has such good potential but you'll just never feel welcome here. No music playing or if it is it's so quiet you have to shhh the person you're with to hear it, the only tv on is always the one in the AC room. I've been in the restaurant/hospitality business for over 20 years and every time I come it's like pulling teeth for them to pretend they have a passion for beer. I might of found my second favorite brewery. Yeah, I did. After going to Tampa in September and missing out on visiting Rapp, I made sure during my latest trip I made it out to pay them a visit. Rapp is in a super industrial area (aren't all breweries?!) - parking was a synch...and inside it's super clean...off to one side they have a ton of seating and on the other side some seating and the bar to order. They have small batch brews...and immediately my eyes went to the chalk board with 20 brews on it! What a great visual. Even more impressive is that the dude behind the bar KNEW EVERY BEER BY NUMBER. "Tell me about (inset whatever number)" "Oh well....here's the history of it...has subtle notes of...it's our take on the traditional whatever...." Super detailed about each and every brew. I really think that makes a huge difference, especially for a first timer. I've been to plenty of other breweries where the staff doesn't take the time to explain the beers - granted we were there late, and it was somewhat empty, but he seemed to take great pride in the beers. I got a flight of course. Some that I remember: 2016 Pumpkin Ale - I love the reasoning behind this name....they can claim they released their new Pumpkin Ale before anyone else did! Oh, those other breweries are serving 2015 Ales? Well, we've got the 2016 ale available. haha love that Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout - If you have a beer my wife actually likes you've hit a home run in my book. This was delicious! Perfect balance taste of chocolate and peanut butter....took 2 growlers of this to go! Smoked Porter - WHOA! Nice porter....with a heavy smoky flavor...it was different. Not my favorite but perfect for a flight. Really, everything was good. I liked some more than others...but they've got some great brews here! Why 5 stars? Because this is the best brewery I've ever been to. --- --- --- One year ago, I would have never found myself in a Seminole industrial park at a place with 20 beer taps and no food. But thanks to my girlfriend introducing me outside the world of Bud/Miller/Coors, I've now become a full-fledged beer snob. We've spent the past year trying every different kind of beer under the sun, and specifically on a trip to the great northwest this summer, we found ourselves going to brewery after brewery in the mecca of American beer -Portland. But Rapp far surpassed all of the Portland breweries... and any that I've been to... ever. The selection is phenomenal, and Greg Rapp really makes magic with what's on the other side of those taps. Before the end of the night, I sampled about 10 beers, and I really loved almost all of them. I found the Maple Wheat to be the standout for me, although the Pumpkin was a very close 2nd favorite. Can't wait to go back, and can't wait to see the fellow beer fans of Tampa Bay check it out for themselves! read more

250 miles away from by regular drinking holes... yeah, I do most of my drinking in South Florida but from time to time I head to Tampa for a bit of fun (Tampa Bay happens to be one of my favorite places to be) and when up here I make sure to visit some of my favorite breweries (7venth Sun, Cycle, Green Bench and Cigar City) but last visit I finally made a stop at RAPP BREWING after hearing of good brews and being assured by fellow beer geeks that it's worthy a visit to the middle of nowhere. I really thought the GPS was playing a practical joke on us... just dark roads (limited street lighting), very rural, not much action, not in the center of a hot spot or happening place.... and then the GPS has us turn into a industrial park (all warehouses)... I just figured there was a mistake and then it says "you have reached your destination".... I was like, "where the heck are we"... and just as I was ready to throw in the towel and continue along to another brewery, I see a colorful food truck turn off the main road and pass us into the maze of warehouses... we figured he had to be headed to a brewery to serve up some goodies so we followed and we were right... there sits the tasting room ! Granted it was not what was expected but like much of Tampa and St Pete... the people working and the people drinking were all welcoming. Any trepidation quickly dissipated. And the place was just what a tasting room should be... comfortable, not over the top, good selection of brews and a diverse crowd. Roughly 20 taps serving a variety of Greg Rapp's small batch beers... No way was I going to trying and pick one.... flight of 6 beers was the obvious choice (they also offer flights of 3 or 9 beers). I love Rapp! They always have such awesome beer including a variety of traditional styles and unique flavors. Rapp also has a lot of space and games, so it's a perfect hang out place. It can be a bit hard to find but just look for the sign that says Signs and Crossfit for an easy marker. I was back in town, so it was definitely a must to stop by. I got a flight to try more things. The ginger beer was perfectly balanced and had good spice. The mumma was really refreshing and had great iced tea flavors. The double IPA was spot on with hop flavor and not too sweet. The hibiscus saison was a great example of the style with a nice bright hibiscus tang. Overall, I can't recommend Rapp enough. It's worth the trek out there if you love beer! read more

After a Yelp event, I was invited down to Rapp Brewing to hang out while others did their Fantasy Football team selection - I had no idea that it was 'Srs Bsns', but it apparently is! The place is tucked back in a business park, off BryanDairy Road, and you will miss it if you're not looking carefully, so I'm thankful for GPS. I found it without too much trouble, and went inside. It's pretty spare, but I did like the menu board, where all the beer names are written in chalk. The listing is pretty extensive as well as comprehensive. While I'm not a drinker, my friends are, so they indulged, and if (When) I got curious, they'd let me take sips. I found that the "Chocolate Peanut butter Stout" had a surprisingly delicious taste. The Watermelon Pale - was ok, light but not watermelon-y at all to me. The Gose was sharp, almost bitter, but would be really refreshing on a hot day. There were a couple of other beers that they were drinking but I can't remember the names. One that I do remember, it was a hoppy one, I snffed it and it smelled.. well it was unflattering. However one of the guys at the table Really liked it! It's all about an educated pallet, I guess! I am going to have to bring some folks here, because THEY like beer. they are interested in places like this! If you can't find a beer you like here, I'm pretty sure you don't like beer. These guys do it all, and more importantly, they do it all really really well. With almost 40 taps, almost all of which they brew themselves, there's something for everyone. From their dessert sours, to smoked sours, ales, lagers, pilsners, maibock, stouts, some experimental brews (on tap at my last visit was a funky mango habanero wheat and cotton candy sour), ciders, as well as a Pinot noir and a Pinot Grigio. Something. For. Everyone. They usually have a food truck here in case you get hungry, but no kitchen on site. They are in an industrial park so there isn't much around but this place has a lot to offer. There's the inside bar area and then two "outdoor" areas which are actually just indoor spaces with the garage doors open but they are open to the elements unless it's raining. They have jenga, games, ping pong, a foosball table, lots to keep you busy and having fun. There is smoking in one of the areas, just a heads up, but the rest is smoke free. If you are in the area definitely check this place out. You will not be disappointed. read more

Yeah, I love this place. The "create your own" flights are a great way to sample several beers at a time. The Hefenweizer is amazing and I loved the ESB as well. The Chocolate Hazelnut and Chocolate Peanut Butter surprised me this time. I guess it took a second try for the Chocolate Peanut Butter to grow on me, though the Chocolate Hazelnut was very smooth. The night I went there was a food truck in the parking lot - nice addition when you have the munchies. And quite a few in the crowd were carrying in empty growlers or taking out full ones. Greg Rapp is a master at his craft and offers unique styles in addition to some of the crowd pleasers (cue IPAs). I've never had a bad beer here and I don't plan to because it's impossible. My favorites have always been the darker selections: chocolate milk, chocolate peanut butter, and one of the best beers ever made, the chocolate hazelnut porter. I'm not a huge fan of the lighter beers, but friends regularly boast about the Gose. The brewery typically has food trucks on the weekends and has also been known to have events from time to time. The side with picnic tables is also dog friendly. If you're looking for great beer at a good price and a laid back atmosphere, this will be your go to spot. read more
