Happened upon this as I traveled for work. Man I love finding a gem during work travels and this was it! Such high quality for a quick burrito lunch. So many proteins and salsas to pick from. Tacos for the win! OK, so I know the namesake is after a burrito but I wasn't feeling quite hungry enough to slam one down and I wanted something crunchy so I opted for the crunchy 3 tacos and YUM! You can have as many meat choices as you'd like, so I did the ground beef, the shredded beef and the Colorado, the shredded beef was my least favorite but the other two were great. After you select your meats your food is passed to the toppings, I opted to keep it simple with lettuce, cheese and pico de gallo, but they also have guacamole, sour cream, raw onions, etc. When you're satisfied with your toppings, payment and boom, 2 minutes after walking in I was walking out with my order. Down side, they don't take Apple Pay and you have to sign a receipt when paying with a card. My three tacos cost about nine bucks after-tax and they were superb, I can't believe this is fast food. I also asked for the hot salsa and man it was killer! If they had any variation of Margarita, I would've stayed and dined in, kind of like Fuzzys if you're familiar with that taco chain, but they did have some traditional beverages like horchata to enjoy. Great fast food stop for sure to please. Would definitely be more convenient to have Apple Pay or tap without the need to grab a germ infested pen and sign your bill but the food is worth a stop. read more

I travel a lot for work and I am always looking for great local places wherever I go. I heard about Cali Burrito in one of the Oklahoma Travel Facebook groups I always refer to in order to find great places to try. I'm glad that someone told me about it because this little hole-in-the-wall place is off the beaten path and never would have known it was here. Think a locally-owned chipotle type place. The portions are really large and the flavor was great. The chicken on my bowl was so fresh that he pulled it straight off the grill to throw it on top. My only complaints were my lettuce was kind of wilted which looked gross but still tasted okay and I was just given my food in a to go form. I had been chatting with the staff and mentioned I was from out of town and I think they assumed I was going to eat on the road. Positives: owner/manager was super friendly, food was pretty fresh, portions were fantastic for the price, good queso -- I'm not usually a white queso fan but theirs was pretty good. Steak cali fries for sure. I like that they let you select your toppings, instead of having standard items. Works for me because I dislike when places DROWN your food in queso. This is a great place to get a HUGE tasty burrito. You'll need two free hands and one very empty belly for one of these bad boys. I feel like I can't stress enough how big they are. A single burrito is a solid two meals worth. I had the California burrito with fries and bacon inside. It was wonderful. I recommend that you get the queso inside. It's like a thin queso blanco and it's delicious. I would compare it to a white nacho cheese. Super tasty. The only thing I didn't care for was their meat, which I didn't think had a great flavor. I had the brisket, but maybe some of their other meats are seasoned differently. Other than the great food, all of the employees were super kind and welcoming as well. The location is a bit scary, so I would recommend coming during the day if you worry about that sort of thing. You might need awhile to digest the gigantic burrito before going to bed anyway, so you might as well stop by for lunch. Overall I would say that this place is definitely worth a try though! Doesn't look like much when you drive by. Heck, half the time, it doesn't look open. If you're hungry though and looking for some fast, great tasting, more than you can eat food, then this is the place for you. The service is always fast and so far I haven't had an order messed up. I always get a burrito with the AL Pastor, which isn't AL Pastor just steak but it's so delicious and it's usually a two part meal for the day. Initially, the urge to try it out wasn't significant since Lawton is scattered with gems of hole-in-the-walls. I finally gave it a try after years of hearing the locals rave about this place. Umm, where do I start... I've spent damn near my whole childhood in northern California and five whole years in southern California before I moved out here. In no way does this place come close to any of the burritos I've enjoyed back home. My roommate (who's also from Cali, like myself) convinced me to give this place a chance because even though he knew this place was bad, he needed a second opinion. And at first, I wanted to give this place two stars (because I saw some potential in the first couple bites.) And I do understand that it might be a little hard to source certain ingredients in this part of the country. The more I dug into my burrito (carnita w/ black beans and everything in it,) the lower my hopes for this place got. There's a certain "stale" quality I got from it, like maybe the ingredients weren't being stored properly, and that might actually be a hazard. Not to mention, the refills for their horchata dispenser involved a woman having to bring over a suspiciously ill-kept bucket of questionable material to pour into the machine (with NO ICE, mind you.) What kind of Mexican establishment serves horchata without ice!!??!? This place, that's what. There were a lot of small things that I noticed were "off" after I walked in and placed my order (beans weren't refried so they fall out of the burrito, no steam coming from the serving trays so the ingredients for the burritos weren't being kept fresh, etc.) but they could have at least pretended to look like they gave a damn about what they were serving people. Guy at the front looked like he was done with life. Atmosphere was almost as drab as the burrito they gave me, and it was NOT worth the $9. Want decent Mexican food? We were shopping one day and stopped here to avoid the usual burgers, etc. The people were pleasant and the restaurant appeared very clean. I had high hopes that I'd love it because it smelled delish. Unfortunately, it was not for me, my husband, or my niece. Both of them will usually eat anything. I understand it's a different type of Mexican (hence Cali), and could tell it's popular, so obviously, it's just us. It's not to our taste.
