I had to enlist my contractor to help pressure them to do the right thing and when installing the correct door they cut the wiring to another door. Upon getting back from vacation as I was about to head out to do some grocery shopping when our main garage door would no longer go up. The spring broke and I couldn't get my car out. Can you imagine not being able to get the car out and get some groceries....oh the horror! I mean when you're out of eggs, you're out of eggs. I called the company that we've used in the past but they were out of town. I decided to call California Overhead Door an see if they could fix the problem. They promptly answered my call and scheduled an appointment to come out and take care of it. They came out once and let us know that we needed to move some shelving (more like, I have too much crap in my garage ha ha ha, they were so polite about it). Of course, I left the shelf moving to my husband...hee hee....oops. They came back the next morning to do the repair. I was not home but my husband was here and he said they went above and beyond and really took their time to repair everything. As a business owner and a contractor himself my husband couldn't say enough great things about the guys who came out to make the repairs. I called and set up an appointment, and they gave me a window between 1 and 3pm. I called to confirm the appt, voicemail. Called 4 more times all voice mail. No call to say I'm late or not showing up. Do you know how hard it is to have your EX girlfriend wait from 1pm to 3pm for someone that doesn't show up. I'm so screwed. I called another company in town (Latin family and starts with a P) and they have already checked out the issue, ordered the parts and scheduled to install tomorrow. Its after 3pm on the same day as the no show, and the other company took my call, got someone out to my house, found the problem and scheduled the install and its not even 430pm the same day. Today, "Ignacio Ponce" installed a new garage door opener system. The best compliment and recommendation for any contractor is when the client is so happy with the work, value, professionalism, and friendship that the client looks for another project for the contractor. Oh my gosh...I cannot express how awesome this company is!! I was referred by a family friend and I showed up to their office unexpectedly. The owner arrived and offer to come to my home in 20 minutes to do a quote. I was impressed with the professionalism and attentiveness I received. We decided on a door and I ordered it a couple weeks later. On the day of the install, the crew showed up on time (which is such a shock in this day and age!). They were fast, professional, had great sense of humor, and above all, they gave me an awesome new garage door! l called the Hollister branch to schedule an appointment to look at my Stanley garage door that had two sagging panels (from stress cracks). The first appointment was for for a week later at 1 pm and at 1:15 Rosie called to say that the installer could not come by as he was tied up on another job. So I rescheduled the appointment to a day that was more convenient for them. My door was not an emergency. We set it up for the following week at 10 am. Again, no one showed up and no one called with an excuse. At 1 pm that same day I called Pulido Overhead Door and talked to the owner (Tony) and he had his team stop by at 4pm on their way home to Hollister from Aptos. Very friendly guys, very knowledgeable. Gave me an estimate for a new door (of course, Stanley does not make doors any more so you have to get a new one). I called the shop to set up an appointment to get an estimate for repairing our garage door. I spoke to Rosie who said she could send her boss, Eddie, out the next morning to give an estimate. He arrived in time and was professional, knowledgable, and efficient. We thought we were just going to repair the panel that was the problem, but it was cost efficient enough to replace the whole door. We decided to upgrade to an insulated door this time. The hardest part was deciding on which color to order! Within 15 minutes of Eddie leaving our house, I received a call from Rosie who said our order was placed and it would be in on that next Monday. We set an appointment on Tuesday morning to have it installed. On installation day, Ignacio came out to install the door. He was perfectly on time, he was also knowledgable and confident, and was able to answer all of my husband's questions (my husband is an engineer...enough said). Now when I open and close the door, I keep waiting to hear the terrible popping, lurching, and jerking sounds that I had grown accustomed to, but now there's nothing! It's smooth and quiet! I'm extremely pleased with my experience with California Overhead Doors! My wife and I purchased three beautiful Martin Pinnacle garage doors from them for our new house in Santa Cruz. We actually saw those particular garage doors at another company's showroom, but because the doors were expensive, we decided to quote the product at several places, and California Overhead Door's price was substantially better than the rest (seriously, how much markup were these other places charging?!?). I actually never visited their showroom; all my interactions with them were via phone or email. They were helpful, answered all my questions, provided factory drawings of the garage doors, and even dropped off of the door color samples at the jobsite. They installed the doors when they promised - a day or so after the doors arrived - and did a quality installation job. Good prices, quality work, and zero issues - highly recommended. read more

Wouldn't recommend because of poor quality work and unacceptable customer service. I had them install my new garage door motor, garage door, and new railing. Since then I've had problems with all three and had them fixed, but the repairs have not lived up to the prices. The first problem, the door fell off track hanging from one side and I needed to close the garage with plywood from Home Depot because it happened after hours on a weekend. Second problem, the door glue didn't hold and separated from the hardware so that was replaced. Third problem, the door wouldn't shut and they told me it was because of the sensors were out of alignment, but turned out to be a problem with the motor. I was out of warranty and I tried to negotiate an agreement considering the sour experience with the garage door and didn't expect all this after just 3 years. On the first call I was told the owner was out of town and would call me after he came back. Well he never called and I called again weeks later to be told he was busy and would call later. Definitely not what to expect from a new set up and would hope someone would call when they say are after two calls. Obviously not interested in helping. read more

Call around before you use this company. I replaced the last set of springs and it took me less than an hour. This time I got home from a vacation on Sunday night and my garage door springs were broken and I was in a hurry to have it repaired. Without thinking I called California Overhead Doors and asked to have it repaired without asking for a quote. The springs are under $50.00 and it takes less than an hour to put them on. I was charged $258.57 to replace the springs. I am sure if I looked around I could have gotten the springs replaced for much less. The receipt says spring change and lube and align. I keep the wheels lubed and it didn't need alignment. read more

Very unprofessional! My landlord called them and had them install a new garage door opener. They were good. The inside opener stopped working 2 months later. They called to set up an appointment. I told them call me when I get back in town or call my husband. 3weeks later I called and set up the appointment. They said the opener needed to be replace, tap these 2 wires in the mean time. 2weeks later tapping the 2 wires together stopped working, so iI called them. They still didn't have the part. I had to keep calling them to see if it was in. Once they finally got it, they were supposed to come between 9 and 11. I called at 11 to see if they were still coming. At 11:15 the "boss" shows up without even apologizing for being late. It finally worked! About 2 weeks later I get a bill in my name. I call and I get " you never told us you had a landlord". I call my landlord and he said it was supposed to be free because it was under warranty. Very unprofessional and the people seemed very unorganized. read more
