So naturally I was really excited to try CaliBurger, lets start out by saying that while this is an ok burger it is way overpriced for the size of the actual burger patty. The fires were the stand out star but a majority were short end pieces and again... WAY overpriced for the quantity. I spent $16 total ($11 for the burger, $5 for the fries). THE BEST FOOD TRUCK IN DC! I could rave about the food forever but what makes this place even better is the customer service. I got the pleasure of speaking with the owner the other night who went out of his way to talk to me about his product and you could tell he was very prideful of his work. The food is made fresh down at Union Kitchen and Vic himself went to USC and UCLA. If you get the chance to catch him at the beergarden, make sure you stop and say hello. I got the Philly cheesesteak after asking what I should order. The woman working there said it was her favorite so I went with it. At $8 it was cheaper than my drink, so I figured why not. Well I'll tell you why not! The meat was extremely overcooked to the point of being brittle, and it was high school cafeteria food quality. The good news is it's right outside of the beer garden, so it gets an extra point for convenience. Caliburger was a great compliment to my Sankofa pale ale. I had a "number ten" and the meat was juicy and tender. The bbq bacon fries were okay, but the burger was by far the best part of the experience. I would definitely come back for seconds. read more

I'm disappointed because the food looks so great that I went all the way across town to try it for dinner, only to find out that the chef decided not to open for business that day (it was a regularly scheduled Thursday around 8pm). I previously gave this 5 stars for being the closest thing to In-N-Out on the East Coast! These guys have cracked the code and have basically mimicked the delicious In-N-Out cheeseburger. The fries are slightly different but equally yummy. Salty...which is how I like them. I'm addicted. Had to shave off a star for lack of posted or consistent hours. Cali burger is fantastic! Friendly staff that whip up fantastic food. We had the Cali burger, cheese steak, and bbq fries. The Cali burger was perfect with perfectly cooked meat and a delicious Cali sauce. The cheese steak was also quite fantastic. The bread was just perfect!!! Last but not least, the bbq fries. They were delicious!! Crispy fried potatoes with stretchy melted cheese and sweet bbq sauce on top. I highly recommend it! read more

This food truck couldn't be more perfect for the vibe of NoMa's WunderGarten. And who doesn't love a great burger alongside their beer (or any beverage of choice, really)? I'm not from CA so I hesitate to make this judgement but their Cali Style fries are better than the In n Out animal style fries I had many moons ago. Though the woman taking orders at Cali suggested I get the BBQ Bacon burger, I suggest getting the classic cheeseburger or double so you can get a dose of their delicious special sauce inside it. There's a bit of a wait after you order but they give you a buzzer so you can head back to your table of friends and enjoy as they prepare your food. Great location , nice environment around , Burgers were okay and resembled what In-and-out usually serves, I would say the real thing is way better but hey it's not bad. Fries were okay, the cali style fries would have been better without the slice of american cheese in my opinion overall it's a food I'll only every now and then not my go to burger place read more

$12 for a tasteless, tiny cheeseburger is not a good deal. I am a huge fan of In and Out Burger and was hoping this place would satisfy that craving. It did not. As mentioned, the burger was quite small, and dry, and there was not enough of the special sauce nor lettuce. The burger had sautéed onions that added an unpalatable sweetness to the burger. The fries (we ordered both cheese fries and regular) were also underwhelming for the price. This place is also a food truck that is located inside the Wundergarden beer garden. The beer garden must be the only thing sustaining this business as drunk folks will eat nearly anything. At the end of the day, DC just needs an In and Out Burger. read more

This review is about the food truck. I was very excited to see a burger food truck in NOMA with veggie burges for lunch as most don't, so decided to try it out. I ordered the veggie burger and fries and was told it would take 10 minutes, $14 cash or $14.30 with a card. 20 minutes later my burger and fries arrived. Yes, 20 minutes, this should be the best burger ever....NOT. According to the menu, the fries are shoestring with salt and pepper ($4), these only had salt and no pepper packets were available. The fries weren't bad, weren't the hottest either to have taken 20 minutes, but not disgustingly cold. The veggie burger ($9) on the other hand was aweful. Of course, it's a frozen patty that's expected. However, anyone who has ever had an undercooked frozen patty of any kind knows that if the middle is thawed, but not cooked, the burger 1) is like mush, 2) falls apart in the undercooked section and 3) is utterly gross. Their burgers are always delicious and made-to-order! The meat is always cooked *just right* and never overcooked. The toppings are fresh and taste great - lettuce has the appropriate amount of crunch, the tomato tastes freshly cut and does not make the bun soggy, the sauces and toppings are always placed onto the burgers in the right amount - I've never had one that has been too saucy or soggy for any reason. Their fries are delicious! Seasoned just right and I got them with a side of cali sauce to dip in (which is like a russian dressing with relish in it, very tasty). The fries were also cooked enough to be warm and crispy. I would recommend this food truck and I am a very picky eater (it's hard for me to say something was delicious). read more

I read the reviews ahead of time, but thought I'd give it a shot - was really craving something like In-n-out. Unfortunately, this imitation fell short. Starting with the cali fries, which are meant to resemble animal style fries. The actual fries were not bad, potentially better than in-n-out's plain fries. However the cheese and spread used were not up to par. The cheese was very bland and something (not sure what) was off with the spread. Similar issues with the burger, cheese and spread left a lot to be desired. Lastly, the prices are about 30-40% higher than they should be. The above cost me $14 and was far from worth it. read more

This is the worst food truck I've ever had food from. Their food tastes like McDonald's but it's more expensive. There weren't any bugs in the food so I'll give it two stars instead of one. This was my first and last purchase from CaliBurger Food Truck. This was the first time I saw the CaliBurger Foodtruck at McPherson Square. I saw the cook get mad at a customer who had been waiting over 20 minutes because she asked to cancel order after he said it was going to be 10 more minutes for a total of 30 minutes for a burger. He slammed the window shut when she asked for a refund. After seeing that interaction it is clear customer service is not important to CaliBurger at all. read more

What a great food truck to complete a very cool beer garden. I got the Cali Burger and Truffle Fries. They were both AMAZING. Kinda reminds me of the great California chain In N Out. Highly Recommend getting the truffle fries, you will not be disappointed. You do not even have to wait for your food outside the truck.
